I recently installed gingerblur 4.5 and i also saw this https://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=302378e07351576f&hl=e
and each time i star the music app under music i get a "downloadmanager$download" which according to google is a malware called droiddream.
now i must stress that i did a completely clean install of SBF 1.26 and i checked if it ran first and nothing then ran gladroot checked it if ran again and still nothing.
afterwards i did the OTA update to 1.83 and nothing still(installed no apps from the market by the way) . Then i installed Gingerblur v4.5 and it the process started running. The only reason why i went to all that trouble was to see what the cause was the first time since i was running gingerblur v3.5 before and the process was there. now i dont know if what might be the cause could be the honeycomb player infected but you guys should check too.
and if i'm wrong (hope i am) i would like to be corrected
Even a completely clean install of 1.26 doesn't clean off any SD cards. I've run just about every version of Gingerblur, and I've never seen the problem you describe. I don't think Gingerblur is to blame.

I agree, I did erase both my memory cards and then did the clean install. Never saw this issue..

Hey op I have the same process "downloadmanager$download" running this is the process of the beta music app from google, downloaded off of the market. This has nothing to do with ginger blur I am running stock. It is just a service running from the new music app. The app is an official google app I really doubt that's malware.
Did you by any chance get the music beta invite ?
UPDATE:
I finally received a response from my email to google about this and "downloadmanager$download" is a legitimate running process for the Music Beta App from google.
so then it must be from the included music player?
cuz when i run the music player then chech its there under music

Yes it's the service running from the new music player. It syncs to the new Google music service. The malware alert you saw earlier is for apps that are syncing wirelessly that shouldn't be syncing anything.

Would it work for us, the sync
or do we need 2.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980018
EDIT: indeed it installs and works syncing now. Will report back (the CM7 neccessity I read is false)
Mine's been syncing for a while now, once it's done I'll report back on if it actually worked or not.
so u were able to install it on the atrix (android 2.2)
nice, u just delete the stock one using root explorer, and install the new one?
so what were your results?
I got the app itself working fine without uninstalling the original music app. I'm unsure if the streaming worked or if I was playing from internal memory, but it seemed like it was synced. I did get FCs in horizontal mode, but no other problems!

I've already master reset my phone, and the issue persists, so don't bother posting that as a solution.
There has been an issue going on for weeks where media playback stops working. Nothing plays, not even YouTube or media via the Flash Player. The YouTube player just says touch to try again. The Flash and Media Players error out saying the format isn't supported.
Not even the Camera or Video recorders work (gives a generic error message). The only way to get it to work is to power the phone down and back up, until it works again.
Dunno what the issue is. Is anyone having the same issues?
Stock 2.2 KB5 never modded phone with the stock SD card and the only 3rd party apps I have installed are the obvious ones (Twitter, Facebook, Engadget, XDA App, Google Apps, Beautiful Widgets, etc.). Prolly have < a page of 3rd party apps installed.
N8ter,
I was having a similar issue with YouTube and Pandora. After a certain time neither would work, Youtube would give the error message to touch again, and Pandora (or any other music player) would pull up the song it was about to play, then skip it and go to the next one, and on and on. The issue wouldn't go away until I restarted my phone.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a fix for it. I tried clearing the data, cache, etc. with no luck. I have a hunch that it might have to do with an app or a program the runs data in the background or with data itself, switching between wifi and data, or with flash. Of course I could be way off too, who knows.
Right now I'm running Bionix NextGen 1 ROM with Overstock kernel and so far the issue has not come up. Keeping my fingers crossed, and hope our fellow xda'ers have a solution to this problem.
I'm wondering if the OS is shutting down a needed service or something in the background. It's been happening since before KB5 update, but I haven't noticed it being so bad until recently because I put all my music on the Vibrant and it happens when playing audio files as well...
Oddly, ringtones and notification tones still function.
Hi N8ter, DO you have the twitter app installed? I ask this because my sister was having the same issue a couple of weeks ago (we both have vibrants running bionix 1.3.1 ) i really didnt know what was going on so I kind of ignored her issue. It was not until I created a twitter account and downloaded the twitter app that I started having the same problem. I removed the twitter app from both our phones and we havent had the issue for weeks now.
Its odd i know but it worked for me...
You know what, I have been having the same problem, and yes, I do have the Twitter app installed. I hope that is it (I'll try to report back here after a few days, but due to the sporadic nature of the problem, I won't be able to know whether that works). thank you for the suggestion.
I can't really believe that the twitter app might be the problem, but it has been 24 hours without the twitter app and I havent had to restart because my media files/you tube are unrecognizable. I read it somewhere else on xda. I will follow up if it seems that twitter is not the problem.

Yep. I just went to the T-Mobile site and found:
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsung-Vibrant/vibrant-file-glitch/td-p/760507/page/2
I just removed the Twitter app and reinstalled Seesmic for Twitter access (not big loss, it's not like Twitter had C2DM support and the phone natively syncs contacts and pictures anyways...).
I'll see how it goes.
Thanks guys... I never had media on my Vibrant until recently (the HD7's external speakers make the Vibrant sound like a Surround Sound system - don't even need headsets for this phone!) and the issue was starting to make me want to beat a baby...
Thank you so much everyone. xda ftw!
So I've just downloaded the app Android Assistant today and it's the first process manager that has shown me the Eventstream Engine that's running. I've seen it in root unistaller but left it alone because I didn't know what it was.
The thing that shocked me was that Android Assistant reports it's using 30% of my battery! 30%!!!!! So I searched what eventstream engine was an found out, from what I can tell, it's just a background process manager for timescape which I've frozen on my phone. So I froze it. No problems so far on my phone. Messages, music, gallery, all SE stock apps I've kept seem to open up just fine still.
Has anyone frozen else Eventstream Engine on their phones? If so, have you experienced any problems?
Ive deleted it, it just controlls timescape if you dont use it, dnt worri

Won't deleting it prevent the ota updates from applying? Or is that just base android Apps that can't be deleted?

I have been having a hard time with the google music app. It will not stream music, and force closes when I attempt to start streaming. I have tried many reboot options, as well as the uninstall reinstall trick. The funny thing is that after the uninstall, it streamed a single song before force closing. I am also running liberty .9. So basically I am asking if anyone else has this problem, a solution, or input. Thanks.

I had the same problem on stock gingerbread. I ended up wiping phone and reloading entire os last night to fix it. Nothing else I tried cured it. I thought I had read that the problem on liberty was that it was blocking ads and that prevented music from working, there was a setting that would turn them back on and fix the issue. But since I dint use liberty, I'm not positive.
google music crashed a lot on me at first but I was running gingerbread.596 and using equalizer.
now I'm running google music with
cyanogenmod and dsp manager with no more fc issues.
DX+CM7
As the other guy said, reenable adds and see if it works.
I run ad free and it works fine

so i found this while having the same issue on my nexus s 4g with bugless beast gpa19.
i use rom toolbox to block ads. I also have rom toolbox blocking 'casinos'. disabling this function fixed force close problems with google music.
I had same issue on liberty gb .9 nothing you can do to fix it, doesnt seem to work well with .596
I sbf to .602/.605 and flashed liberty x 3 and it works flawlessly. Need to be on .602, thats what solved my issue
same issue fixed on Droid Razr RazrX V1.2
had the same issue as you guys, i uninstalled all apps that android market split into (google play, music, books and movies). the apps i could not uninstall i removed the updates after forcing them to close in app manager. i rebooted the device, logged into marketplace and let it reinstall the new apps again, had to manually reinstall the music app because it didn't do it on it's own, i reinstalled it by going to my apps in Google play, it was at the bottom of the list. i'm rockin' a safe-strapped Motorola Droid Razr rooted with RazrX V1.2. Everything is working properly now. BTW this is my first post on XDA! hope it helps someone
Google first took the wraps off of its Music Beta service back in May, and six months later the service has had its beta tag stripped and is now open to all. Users can store up to 20,000 songs for free using Google Music and can stream their collection using their Android device. Google has also added a music section to the Android Market, where it'll have "millions" of tracks available for purchase in a 320kbps MP3 format.

I assume they'll push out the updated market soon?
Yeah I guess so the internet app site is update with it

I keep getting an "incompatible update" error after it downloads from the market. I even uninstalled the older 4.0.1 version
I get package file not signed correctly (or something like that) when I try to update the app.

I still don't have the updated Market either, so I can't see any of the new music for sale. I thought I was the only one still having this problem. I'm just running the stock OTA ROM.
EDIT: I am aware that you can install an .apk with the updated market, but I want to get an official update PUSHED to my phone.

Me too. Hope they fix this soon. I've been using the chrome browser based music manager to add some of their free songs, but would like to see what the phone can do.
I just got the new market with music on it. Its still 3.3.11 though. I installed an older market apk i had from a few months ago, 3.2 or something. Then after about 5 minutes it auto updated. Hope this works for someone else too.
Yeah its in the market now just go to manage application scroll down to market and force stop clear data bam music

I keep getting the "incompatible" error as well. I uninstalled the app using Titanium Backup and still get it. I do see the new Market, though.
