what's mean low battery life in your case ?
Which version do you use? Wiht JPF I have better battery life than the original 2.1.
I don't think it's a real low battery. my rooted froyo phone shows 60 percent battery after about 3 hours but after I reboot the phone it shows 90 percent again. overall i get close to 18 hours of battery

Hi, maybe this thread should help to you

This was main problem of battery life in 2.2
For me is also 2.2 XPF better than 2.1
I've been using 2.2 firmwares since JPA and everytime i cant manage to get more tan 16 hours of usage with data activated.
when i was using 2.1 i could get 36 hours with the data turned on all day
anyone got any suggestion?
thanks!!

When you flash a new firmware, do you flash wid a full battery charge?.....that makes a difference cos the os considers that battery level to be the Max level at that time.... .. i read bout this in lestats dev page....cheers!

and i came across this app for this purpose...

but i am confused......anyone??
It may have to do with cpu scaling also.I installed cpu master and saw that the cpu is always on 667mhz and not down-scaling when not in use

I dunno about this, after I flashed a new rom(60% charge) the battery was fine for a few days(around 26 hrs backup)...but recently the battery backup has dropped to less than 8 hrs!
Hi Guys,
im interested to see what ROMs give you best battery life.
Currently Im on Tweaky Final JVP 2.3.4 and guess what, after Criskelo GB v58 I get even more than 2 days of medium usage.
I've been running my phone for 3 days, 23 hours, 15 minutes and still have 5% battery. Seems like FAKE, but ITS NOT! HAVE screenshots of that, and if you still dont believe i can make a camera photo of my phone usage.
Screen on:28%
Voice calls: 22%
Network: 17%
Android OS: 16%
Standby: 6%
i think thats the best ROM in terms of battery life.
Anyone using it?
Android OS: 16%?????
why?
Well I dont know why, but does it really matter? There are 2 processes of Android OS: one is 16%, the other one 5%.

I think you wanted to say Android System. Usually that one has higher consumption, while the Android OS stays at approx. 5% (I get 3% almost all the time). So actually you have two processes named: Android System and Android OS
Anyway, your battery life is good, but I wouldn't say it's brilliant. I looked to your battery stats and it seems that you didn't really used your phone.
But all that matters is you, being happy with your phone
Cheers!
Thanks for explanations!
Do you know any rom that could be even better than that? If yes, it would be very nice of you telling me (us)

I had best battery results with stock JVP Odin ROM. The deodexed version is good too. Add a RAM management script (Juwe's or Darky's) and you will make it even better.
However is not very convenient to loose the advantages of a custom ROM for one more hour (or so) of effective battery usage.
I also had the best battery on deodexed but otherwise stock JVP with voodoo kernel and ext4 filesystem as it uses less CPU than RFS.

after installing this "Tweaky ROM Final JVP No Wipe.zip", Very often my phone was restarting, hanging, Force Closing. Is there any solution for this or Should i switch back to Darky's Rom.
But one good thing is, Battery Backup. It was good. For 1 hour, 1% of battery was consuming in Idle time(When i am not using).
Please Suggest me.
Thanks & Regards,
Venkat

hey guys,
Can any of you suggest a rom that has fantastic battery life but doesn't involve any changes in stock UI?
I want to keep all stock themes and UI.
I don't need any of GS2 apps or themes or TW4.
I just want battery life to be longer in stock 2.3.4.
Any suggestions?
If you have an old SIM card, get it replaced. Mine was 12 years old and I swapped in a new one today, not sure how much is gonna change, yet I suppose it will solve all my short battery runtime issues.
Well its official... 2.3.4 DOES still have the android OS drain problem!
My phone had an issue with the usb port and had to be sent away for repair last week.
I picked my phone up on Monday (2 days ago) after it had been repaired and it had been upgraded whilst it was away from 2.2.1 JPY ( I flashed it back to stock JPY before sending it away ) to 2.3.4 JVQ.
I have read a lot of posts debating that the OS problem is due to custom kernels etc etc, but my phone is still at the moment completely stock with only a few apps installed.
It was ok for the first 2 days but i have taken it off charge this morning and the android OS was draining 47% battery!
I lost 12% battery in 2 hours.
So yes the android OS bug DOES still exist n 2.3.4 stock roms.

I've never had OS drain in 2.3.4
Mostly this bug is caused to an app that doesnt let your phone go to sleep. Deinstall some apps and watch your drain again

As far as i'm concerned your talking out your arse!
Mine is completely stock JVQ updated through kies, with heavy use i can get a day out of it and with light use just over 2.
As far as im concerned YOUR talking out of YOUR arse.
Mine is completly stock JVQ flashed from the samsung repair center and i got android OS drain after 2 days of having the phone back with like 4 apps installed from the market.
poor you =) oh yeah and it is official !!!!
OMG...it's official! Whatever shall I do.

"Its official!!!! Read this!" Seriously? Do people even read the forum rules? It's actually about good practices, really...
Try putting your wifi to sleep when the screen is off
Oh and that is unofficial but works
and there is a section that tells you now what its doing
The only bug that is left is the Phone FC problem
Why not just go back to Froyo, it's not that much different from GB anyway?...

GB is like the Custom ROM version of Froyo.
I guess it comes down to speed vs battery life...

I've never had OS drain on 2.3.3 stock after clearing cache partition and dalvik cache. Need root to clear dalvik cache though. Battery life is great seems much better than tweaked 2.2.1.

Even if it's "official" I oppose all the opinions that Froyo was so much better for battery life:
I have been running every GB Stock ROM (with Voodoo or Hardcore Kernel) and the battery life with my 200+ apps is slightly better (after a workday with wifi on I still have 30-40% battery left with GB instead of runnning empty on Froyo). I had battery drain after flashing some of the stock rom versions, but I also used Titanium Backup to restore system settings so I blame this for the bad battery life.
Now - running on JVR with Hardcore K15i T10 - everything works great!
But, if you feel like going back to Froyo, do so and stop complaining about problems with GB you most certainly triggered yourself....
BTW, even if if this is OT, could you please use more specific thread titles and stop insulting yourselves?
Hello there this is my first post here so I try to make it clear and simple. I have updated the tab about a month or 2 ago not sure how long to version 4.0.4 (ice cream sandwich) and it looked cool and all but after the update the battery is draining in a matter of 3-4 hours. Just to make it clear after I noticed that I charged to 100% turned off almost everything (wifi GPS, bluetooth etc etc and also I made the display on auto) and I opened the ebook and read a book for some time. After about some time the battery drained considerably something that before the update has never happened. Therefore I searched for a solution and found a thread at this website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215182 ... I have followed the instructions word for word and still no sign of change for the better occured. I also asked a friend of mine and told me that the icecream sandwich was not made for the tablet hence the battery cannot cope with its performance so I am guessing to downgrade it back to a version before the icecream sandwhich or do a factory reset but before I do that I am asking for your advice so that maybe I can fix it without such measures. Please respond as I am worried that since I am charging it a lot lately I might ruin the battery (due to life cycles or something) Thanks a lot and good day
Not being rude but there are 20 threads on this, you your search bar before creating another pointless thread.

I have done a process rto re calibrate the batery and i may have solve it. however now is this normal consumption if the batt discharged by 10% having wifi and screen on for 1 whole hour? or its discharging too fast? thx
