HD2 to X10?

I'm quite happy with my HD2 but would really like to have a better camera. Since X10 seems to be a real upgrade on this aspect I'm wondering if I can sync my Outlook Mail as I have on the HD2. Does anyone have this working well?

don't make my mistake by leaving hd2 and going to x10 ,x10 is allot superior than hd2 ,you will feel bad eith x10

I've had an HD2, and yes it is may seem a better device because htc put so much shiny software on it...
- but the HD2 camera sucks
- the touchscreen of the HD2 is worse
- the X10's screen performs better in sunlight
- The X10 is better to hold in your hand (because of the curvature)
- The X10 is way prettier (subjective though)
- and I think the overall experience of the X10 is better.
(my stock HD2 with only spb keyboard installed needed a reboot a few times a week....my X10...never).
I am very happy I traded in my HD2 for an X10

And I wouldnt believe him. It depends on that you want from the phone, hes just whining child going from thread to thread ant whining how bad the phone is and that it'll never get root.

sorry but windows mobile is trash, no matter what ui you put on it.

I wouldn't say Winmo is trash but I believe Android is going to make great strides as a mobile OS.
I just moved from X1 with a custom winmo 6.5 (which is excellent thanks to Wild Child) to a X10 because I wanted to run Android for awhile.
It's only been a month but I am enjoying it.

shut up junior member ,iam not like a child ,and this is not only my opinion it is of allot who tried both ,windows is a mature os even the updates that android 2.2 has ,already included in windows from years, and yes without root you will stuck with shi#ty os for the rest of your life so in all ways hd2 is better (juniour member )

Ive been using winmo for past 3years, and THERE IS NOTHING in there that is better than android, i hate it, user friendlyness = zero. i have been using windows mobile from its first release (a.ho) ,and junior members like(a.h.o.l) are not experienced to post their opinions on any propose ,they are still juniors ,and you are not in a level to argue with you. so go to your mama and cry ,saing iam sorry for interin an argment with (Hossam Eldin Yasser ) . good luck

To the OP, I just got rid of my HD2 and my x10 will be coming in shortly so I can tell you whether or not it was worth it for me so that you can judge your decision from there.

Why is HTC protecting wildfire so much

After the release of the wildfire it took a unusual amount of time to root and now the hboot has been changed to prevent rooting I ask the question why the consumer should have the right to run roms that suits them best I refer to geohotz jailbreak with the iPhone

yeah i agree, they want to sell you newer devices with new android versions. they must also be pretty mad about the hacked app markets

Its the solemn duty p) of a company to protect its products. No product I believe has a weak security system, and, its always a cat and mouse game between the devs and the company devs. Be it iOS, Symbian, Game Consoles.. etc.
No one likes to see their product "hacked" and to be used in a manner better than it was intended to.

As far as I know the Nokia N900 and LiMo devices are very open to hacking, very much unlike Android, webOS and iOS phones.

Why would anyone protect their properties

Also maybe cos they were planning for Gingerbread release on the Wildfire, and by then they want all devices to be hackproof or something.. jus maybe..

Anyone who posts a reason other than this is very naive.

I'll give you a reason.. It's because their support teams couldn't cope with the amount of idiots they'd get phoning them saying that their phone wasn't working anymore after they'd made a complete bodge of modding it.. Just like the guy above said..

Exactly, their cash flows in from the devices they sell. If they support old products, they won`t sell new devices, so no cash.

But if they wouldn't lock the wildfire, the chance of getting your device bricked will be lower in my oppinion. The chance that a procedure fails is directly correlated with the amount of steps, and just because the phone is that locked, people have to do 1. a multitude of steps that 2. don't use software of the phone in the way its develloped to be used -> chance to brick your phone.
Compare it to a computer: ever bricked it because you wanted to install an new OS?

I came to android world by having a tytn 2 which I enjoyed alot, haret-ed my ass oof, tried alot of roms back then.
I became so obsessed with android, I received a wildfire for my birthday. At first it seemed an upgrade, but then I've seen what means to have a cpu without a gpu struggling even to animate simple 2d stuff.
So, here we are, three months later and I cooked this idea I want a new phone with android. So I've gone with HD2 to be able to switch back to wm if I ever needed it at any time.
So here's my advice:
If it's your kids/girlfriends phone, leave it as is. If it's your phone and you are sick of it and it doesn't meet your expectations, sell it while it's sparkling new, to be able to get as much money off it, add some quids and get a real phone.
I will be less active on this wildfire subform, so I wish you happy buzzing days to come.

sorry to hear that. However, although HD2 is not the latest phone, I would love having an HD2 because you can have dual boot with Windows Phone 7 and Android, as well as WM.

You could always stay on wildfire and hd2 like i do withthe tab and wildfire (from a dev prospective the wildfire is better - no kies or odin or rfs nonsense)

If it's not a real phone then what it's it? It's still a smartphone, just not a media oriented smartphone.please don't diss a phone just because it doesn't meet your expectations.
Yeah, there are better smartphones out there, with more bang for your buck and, hell, I'd love one, but I don't really need them.

[Q] Is this phone worth upgrading from the HD7?

I have a HD7 and im getting alittle bored of it, and the screen size is alittle too big. There is someone locally who wants my phone and $75. Im not sure if its worth it or not. i know it is hardware wise, but i heard the atrix lags alot compared to others xD Thanks.

the atrix is the fastest phone you will use ONCE you install another launcher. This would definitely be an upgrade.
The people complaining, are generally irked by the bootloader being locked (which will hopefully be fixed soon) and therefore are harder on the phone.

Yeah, thats what i heard. i actually kinda like motoblur (just cause looks) Id install sense on it asap though lol. i havent used android in a long time, since mytouch 4g was released and i just got annoyed of its problems. the new sense looks amazing though. my phone never lags "ever" because of how light wp7 is. just want something new thanks btw!

I returned the Atrix yesterday. I really liked it, very fast and an amazing battery, but I had issues with it. My main issue was voice quality. Every single person I spoke to had trouble hearing me. I also didn't like the camera, pictures didn't look good in my opinion. Also, had issues with gps not responding properly from time to time, but I think that was just an issue with my unit not all Atrix phones. Now I'm waiting a week or 2 to see if I get the Infuse 4G, that phone sounds sick!!

I come from a HD2 with both android and WP7 installed.
i can honestly say that the Atrix is really good upgrade. the HD2 and HD7 are the samething just software wise is where the change happens. i would do it if i where you... i did actually.

just because no one else caught it, you can't install sense on this phone. Sense is HTC's version of motoBlur. Since this is a motorola phone, no sense. you can make it look like sense by installing launcherPro and skinning it, but that's about it.

Im pretty sure someone could port it.. people have ported droid X rom to the Mytouch 4G lol. so why not other way around? eVil D probably could. I know they have their own skins, thats the point of porting though..

The infuse is a downgrade from the galaxy S 2. single core vs dual, and bigger screen which i dont want. why did you return your atrix?

If you got bored with your hd7 then you'll get bored of the Atrix really fast. Poor developement due to locked botloader makes for a very boring device. We're also totaly at motos mercy for fixing broken features wbich they' ve do.e a terrible job of so far. I' d trade my Atrix for an hd2 in a second.

To much lag. Waking up from sleep. And really when it comes to a day to day use unless your going to be using the lapdock as your own personal computer every day dual core isnt really needed

yeah but think about how much other moto devices lagged with motoblur 2.1/2.2. the droid x did horrible, and it has the new moto blur now and it runs amazing, im sure this will run amazing as well with update.

really depends. i had the mytouch slide before it was unlocked and it was fine.. makes porting harder and stuff. broken features? like what?

Couldnt find the thread. I have only had my hands on one literally for about 4 seconds lol, and i really liked the feel in my hands and i loved the display. i like the small fonts and stuff.. motoblur looks good as well, just laggy. cant wait till someone ports miui to this phones well hopefully.

Lets go over this once. Sense, MotoBlur, TouchWiz, they are not just skins. They are woven into the android build by the respective manufacturers. To port to this phone you would need the ability to flash custom roms, which you can't do on the atrix. Yes there are a few like gingerblur, but those really aren't custom, just tweaked and skinned. Until motorola unlocks the bootloader (don't hold your breath that the devs will ever figure it out), there is no hope. This is why you probably won't see MIUI either.
getting past that, has there ever been a sense port for a non-htc phone? No HTC phone has had the same hardware as the atrix, so i'm betting it's hard to impossible.
not trying to be an ass, just making sure you understand. This is an awesome phone, just don't come in expecting all the openness of old HTC phones.

A friend of mine got one, it had Android pre-installed on it (second hand) and the hardware specs are pretty good, but I found the phone not that responsive considering the specs. Thats probably because it doesn't run Android natively I think, but it might just be just this situation.
Since its so cheap, I would really consider it

The phone has a lot of development but I felt it is quite laggy....
I used it with Windows phone and it seemed to have bugged out something and was terribly laggy.....
When I used it with Android, it was a little bit better, but still laggy....
According to me, don't but it.

It's bad because I really like to have the possibility to switch beetween OS, but if it's laggy...no point to buy it

Yes it is but is it really a worthwhile upgrade? I think he should go for a better phone if he actually wants to upgrade or stick with the galaxy 3 as our devs have recently started working 10 times as hard to bring us awesome development such as MIUI, AOKP, G3MOD 3.1, the new Kyorakernel test version, CM7 the list goes on.

in fact the guy with the HD2 didn't contact me yet so i stay with my g3...
