Has anyone got netflix worling on their tab yet? I keep getting error 12001 when trying to stream. It says the Netflix service could not be reached. I figured it had to do with the build.prop issue and tried to use the modified Apk, but when I try to open those I get a message saying that the file couldn't be opened.
I get the same error number. I'm using the app from the market. I thought I might just reinstall, but then I noticed that I can't find it in the market anymore.

This is post from February... still no Netflix on Xoom or any HC tablet.
Though Viewsonic gtablet (same Terga2) with CM7.0.3 (Android 2.3) doing Ok with Netflix streaming. I will not upgrade until Netflix and/or Samsung/Google make it happen.
Its funny. My nook color has a working Netflix app and can connect to ad hoc networks and ny tab 10.1 cant

So I updated with the rooted 3.1 and it's awesome, but when I got into the market, there's just the apps and books tabs but no movies tab. Anyone else have the movies tab yet or is this coming from the OTA and not the leaked one?
i think movies only works with a 3g xoom so far, the wifi xoom and tf may come latter
from what i read somewhere
This may be the reason you don't see Movies on your rooted device...

They must be blocking it from non rooted devices too, because I have no Movie tab in my market after upgrading to 3.1. However, I do have one on my pc on the Web based marketplace.
I'm not rooted and I can't see the movies either after 3.1
It's not available on all honeycomb devices yet, but I'm sure we'll find out more when we can have in in the coming weeks

Wow, this is ridiculous.
I don't understand why Google would show something off at IO, then not follow through for other devices.

As per this engadget review of the upcoming samsung 10.1 incher
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/
....Android 3.1 brings along widgets that can be resized vertically and horizontally, access to the newfangled Movies section of the Android Market, improved overall performance and support for a host of USB accessories. Unfortunately, the Movies department is only open for Android 3.1 tablets with 3G radios, hence, our 16GB WiFi test unit still showed it as unavailable. ......

Try going to the android market online using the stock browser. Movies for rent show up there.

When you choose an unsupported app the device does not show up in the download to drop down, I believe the movies will be the same way.
"Unfortunately, the Movies department is only open for Android 3.1 tablets with 3G radios, hence, our 16GB WiFi test unit still showed it as unavailable"
That's just dumb.
Why in heaven's name would you now allow Movies on a WiFi only device?

Stupidity Either that, or it's a ploy by the carriers to push people into overages and ever more expensive data plans, they can't do that if you're only using WiFi.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but today when I was browsing the android market through the browser I saw Netflix and went to it as my droid x is compatible and was going to have it send to that device when I noticed that android market had my A500 listed as compatible also. It sent it to my A500 and installed. It launches without any warning about non-compatible device. Though I get an error while attempting to stream. Anyone else get this also?
tryed looking up the netflix app 4 my a500 not showing for me
I was able to install the app from the market, but when I tried to stream it says,"Sorry we could not reach the netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (11000)"

I don't understand why they would rather have it working on phones first before tablets..I can't watch a damn movie on my evo 3d to be honest
i don't even see the app. I downloaded it a while ago and when I click the app it says this version of application is no longer supported (12008)
WTH the evo 3d has netflix now. I know this tablet is way better then some of the ones they support. Lets go netflix get your mind right
i thought we were getting Netflix support.?
nope
but there is a apk u can get
Lmao typical. I wonder where did the news that we were supposed to get netflix with 3.2 even come from?
There really was no news but Asus put the Netflix app on their webpage, and the rurmors began

It came from Asus: http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer/specification/
Says Netflix (US Only).... they lie.
I tried Netfllix V1.30 apk that could be sideloaded and works great on my unrooted 3.2 Xoom, but unfortunately it doesn't work on the 3.2 TF. It goes farther than the one most of us downloaded right away when 3.1 8.4.4.11 FOTA update came 2 weekends ago. This version loads, you can sign in and even showed my favorites and unfinished movies. But when you try to play any movie it comes back with a message that the server can not be reached... I think I remember this being the Netflix program behavior the weekend of the 3.1 8.4.4.11 update and before Netflix pulled it from the Market that Monday or Tuesday following... After Netflix pulled it, when you launched it it would tell you of an update and when you tried, it simply told you it couldn't find the program in the Market... Still no love from Netflix... Boo...

Yep, seems that way!
just incase anyone was woundering. MAXGO will not work on xoom either, which i dont think was a big shocker cause it was devl by the same people.
i removed device checker, and just like hbogo it FC when you try to login.
ahh man, you got my hopes up for a second there with that title... yeah no official maxgo, hbogo or netflix apps for the xoom.
maybe christmas...
Netflix works fine bruh...

It seems strange that the best use case for these apps (Honeycomb tablets) seems to be the least developed... It seems especially strange that Netflix has the compatibility in place, but won't update the market's compatible apps so the app shows up when searching the market on a tablet.
Maxgo works well from the full site in flash. HBOGo however studders too much in flash to be usable. Like all here, I would appreciate a native app for Android supported on the Xoom. This continues to be a stick upon which Apple fanbois can use to continue beating upon us.
Hi,
I'm not sure if possible, is there a way to sideload the Amazon video app on the Xoom? Or is it possible? I have Amazon Prime and would like to watch the free movies/tv shows with the same app the Fire uses.
Thanks,
Good idea, since the Fire was just rooted there's probably a system dump over on the Fire forums.
EDIT: And here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348782
As a workaround, the browser works very well to view Amazon Prime videos as long you have Flash installed. On my stock 4G 3.2.2 system, the video was prone to the occasional stutter. But after rooting and overclocking, The video is flawlessly smooth in full screen HD.

^ this. Also appears that people who are rooting their devices are breaking the app, same with us and the ability to rent movies in the market apparently. Amazon won't let devices that are rooted stream from Amazon Prime.
But I guess we just wait and see. I have Amazon Prime also and would love to just have an App directly for Amazon to utilize it.

Tried on my root'ed Xoom, just get a Force Close every time I try to do anything. I did try on my root'ed Galaxy S2, and I just get the error message about it not being able to play on a device "configured" like that (aka root'ed).
I am curious if anyone with a non-rooted Xoom has had any success.

Just constant FC on my Xoom when I try and select anything as well. Was able to load it on the G2 but says same thing about the configuration.
The Kindle Fire OS is based off of gingerbread so maybe that's the reason for the constant FC on Honeycomb? I don't know.

I unfortunately do not have Verizon service on my Xoom as I travel too much for it to really be useful, since most countries don't really use CDMA so I'm sorry I can't answer that question. Funny since I've restarted the damn thing force closes when I select something to watch.
Also on a side not I'be read that KindleFire users are losing streaming capabilities when they root.

I had the opposite experience when I tried it on my LTE-upgraded, non-rooted Xoom. I can browse the app, but selecting anything results in a force close.
same here on a rooted x00m4g just need a way to login and not force close when i try to access something. Hopefully someone can hack this apk like they did for the netflix app.
Unrooted stock Xoom WiFi. Installs and operates, but FCs whenever I try to watch or buy anything. Needs some tweaking to make it work on the Xoom, evidently.
I have a non-rooted xoom Wi-Fi and it FC's every time.
Has anyone been able to get Amazon Video to play on the Xoom w/out FC?
