App2SD Mod on Rooted Xperia ( No Custom Rom) - XPERIA X8 General

Hi , can someone tell me if I can use this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880387
App2SD Mod (Moves dalvik cache to SD)
on my xperia X8 Rooted but Official 2.1 update 1 Rom ???
and what partition will be best ext2 ? or ext3 ? and what size ?
Thanks in advance.....

just go with custom rom (eg. FroyoBread) and you will never regret.

This IS designed for 2.1 only. Custom ROMs have it by default.

i just tried floyobread latest but can't connect my wifi , else it is perfect any solution ?
now restoring back to eclair 2.1 update 1 :S

If you're on the stock rom try LINKS2SD.
It will work even with a fat-32 partition... You can find it in the market.

[Q] OC and App2SD with Custom Rom

Hi Guys,
I am very much happy with the custom ROM.. only thing (infact 2 things) i need is to OverClock and App2Sd.
Yesterday, i successfully Rooted my Wildfire.
Now what needs to be done..
Am very new to android..nly few weeks back i got my wildfire..
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
Magesh
Guys, after some reading, i think i need to patch HCDR Jacob's kernel to the phone for OC. So, i jus need to put the zip and "install from zip" from clockwork mod???
This is the first time i am doing this.. so i need your guidance..
Thats right, what rom you using ? I have read that its unstable on wildpuzzle rom , for apps2sd you need an ext partition on ur sdcard and flash darktremmors apps2sd and run a2sd reinstall in your terminal app
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
That is correct. Do a nandroid backup first. Install setCPU when you're done and you'll be able to OC
@UtmostMick0 ,,, i just want to OC in Stock Rom itslef.. Is it possible to use App2Sd in stock rom was my another question???
Should b able to, as long as ur phone is rooted flash HCDR Jacobs kernal, install setcpu and u should b good. As 4 apps2sd if you have partioned ur sdcard just flash Darktremmors a2sd, reboot, open a terminal app and type "a2sd reinstall" and wait 4 reboot. Should b like 120+mb internal storage free

thanks,, i decided to go to CM .. i successfully installed CM also.. so nw i have both of them..
I don't know if it's the same, but..
I don't know if it's the same, but I used Rom Mangers built in partition tool to create a 512MB partition on my Desire. It just rebooted and I had loads of free space. I am running SuperVillain which has apps2sd+ support built in.
I'm looking at Wildfire for my wife, and I know two people who have them already.
Could someone please supply the download for a2sd, I want to flash it to my current ROM.
Use the search function, lolz, it's on XDA somewhere

Ahh it's all good I found it now I think!

[Q] Custom ROM-s

What custom ROM would you guys recommend? That it has to be stable and fast goes without saying
Thnx in advance
I've tried Racht's ones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914513
Currently I'm under Floyo (2.2.1) because there is app2sd working in this ROM but I think 2.3.2 CM HackDroid ROM is also a good ROM (I was using this before).
For the moment, I recommend you Floyo.
Both of them make your phone twice faster.
There still are some small bugs (as 3.5 jack or some sensors don't work) but these ROM still are in dev.
So be patient and in the future they will be better and better thanks to Racht's work =)
But be careful when you flash your device.
Be aware of the dangers and think to make a backup of your initial ROM before.
thnx, i'll give it a try. I'm aware of all the problems with custom roms. I was just wondering what the most stable rom was atm

Yes you loose all your apps and jit will be still enabled. Download floyo v0.10. First create in xrecovery backup of your current rom. Then extract floyo to sdcard /xrecovery/backup and reboot to xrecovery. in xrecovery do full wipe and then choose Backup and restore -> Restore -> floyo/ -> Yes and reboot phone

Racht's 2.2 I think is the best you can get for the X8. I was really afraid to install it, because I thought it would be buggy, but I was very surprised when I tried it. It's fast, stable and much better than 2.1.

I m using Floyo 2.2.1 rom but the native apps2sd aint working,
whenever i try to move any app it shows "FAILED TO MOVE".
DO i need to partition SD card for using apps2sd?
If yes,then how?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
was using stock 2.1 with native app2sd. just tried using miniCM beta2 2.2, app2sd auto updated the wares i have. so far no issue other than needing to reinstall some certain apps using titanium back up. using ext2 paritition.

There's no native app2sd on stock rom. It's 2.2 and up. Ref: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2.html#api
You was using a hack that linked /data/app to an ext partition on your sdcard.

[Q] Installing new rom

hi dev and members, new here to this community, like every x8 frustrated user i too had a lot of doubts in mind before installing a custom rom, but lastly my frustration took over me, i wasn't being much greedy so i tried off with froyobread v0.25, i dont knw how i did it,but i rooted with superoneclick, installed xrecovery and installed froyobread, frankly i was much satisfied with it,quite smooth with everything working like market, camera, video rec,but the only thing dat irks me is the battery life,i feel the battery life is a lil poor, everything i do on my phone eats up my battery life. and again i saw a thread bout froyobread pro? what i wanna know is, is it stable with no bugs like froyobread v0.25? and i already hav stock 2.1 backed up on my sdcard and using froyobread currently. so my query is if i wanna install froyobread pro what do i hav to do ? shud i jus download and copy to my xrecovery folder and restore the rom from xrecovery menu or do i hav to start all over again. and do i hav to clear up the current rom before i switch to another rom? waiting for dev's and members to help out... ciaoooo....
Ok first of all, did you clear the battery stats after you install the rom?
...Wait, v25?
hi, wipe battery stats? is dat on the xrecovery menu? what's dat for ? and yea froyobread v0.25, dnt knw cos on the lockscreen it shows dat and on about phone its floyo by racht?
yea this the one :
Updated 03-June-2011 :

I'm not sure myself. Lol.
Well.. there's a reason why the rom developer tell us to full wipe.
Lol,ur not sure too? Hmm gotta wait for sum1 to clear bout it
And yea now my new rom had to show signs of sickness, i was jus scrolling thru forums all of a sudden the screen went timeout,so i just slightly pressed my home button to screen on, but it didnt i tried again until i had to remove the battery...wow

First, titanium backup.. second, SMS Backup Restore.. third, xrecovery backup and full wipe..fourth, GingerCruzt 8.1, GingerDX v019, Kuyadroid v3.2.175, shpit's xgin 5.0, GingerXperia v13 pick any of these...cheer and don 4get to install fixes for the rom
xrecvry backup for wot? and wat shud i full wipe, the previous rom am using before i install another u mean? well i dnt worry bout backingup anything besides my stock rom which i already did on my xrecry
maybe because to reset the system settings and other configurations so you need to do full wipe first . . i did upgrade from 2.1 to FroyoBread without full wipe but my phone is stuck in SE Logo but when i full wipe it goes on and back to normal . . .

IS anyway to repartition internal xoom card for using other rom

dear i have issue discus here
follow all step and redo many time but problems still can not solved .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203128&page=4
my case is: using xoom 32gb hongkong (hk) version wifi + 3g .. model MZ601
i did flash the rom for international then updated to 3.1 but the hombutton and 3g not work
then i flash with euro version .. now updated to 3.2 and very think work perfect
i do rcm and universall root all work well
but yesterday i found out only 4.11G on my xoom and can not install more game cause of limit
google for hours and read lot of post but still not work out..
only thing i find out is the hk version they did 11 partition, one for sdcard only have 4Gb other for application..
that why when do flash the userdata.img i hit error , the image not fix with the store.
i thinking of two solution ..
1 : some rom fix that load the res 26G hidden back to work as default of hk version for application. ( the solution at other post not work for me )
2: have some one donate offical hk rom version that can test ( i searched but
nerver find it )
3: repation the 4.11g meg with 26G .. then use euro version for the rest of life
but i'm just newbie, dont know how to start and scare of brick this xoom..
please some one can help
thanks very much.

thanks for reply .. did you got issue of 4.11Gb ?
i have download a hk rom from other member helping me but that rom still not solve problemm. it look like the internal sdcard partitioned .. the recovery can not reparation base on rom .
curently i have use custom script to auto mount that hidden space when bootup to on folder on /mnt then moutn the data game to that folder .. that help me a bit for saving store for install game..
beside joeho.org/wordpress/?cat=12 is full of Chinese I dont understand much ?
but look like it giving out the hk rom ? is that right
Yes, all in Chinese and the rom is pure mz601 hc3.1
I used this rom to recover and resume the 2xGB storage. Then when I install tiamat 2.2.2, I also got the 4.11 issue, the I install tiamat 2.2.1 and the update.zip. after that I flash the 2.2.2 again. Then power off the xoom completely n turn on again. The 24gb back.
Some forum user may still hv the same problem n said I'm the lucky one. May be u also try search the xoomforums to find related thread, which I also asked help from there.
