I tried searching and I even searched google but could not come up with anything good. I recently rooted my phone and am now running FR008, like many of you I am waiting for a stable CM7 mod until then I'll stick with my froyo. However, I know someone who is running CM7 and I noticed the TV Tube animation when locking your phone.
Is it possible to get just the animation somehow?
BTW great forum, I learn new stuff everyday and if it wasn't for you guys I would have never rooted my phone.

Or just switch to CM7...as of right now, i.e. with the current build, there isn't anything that ISN'T "stable" about it...to put it bluntly, you're going to spend a lot of time trying to accomplish this when you could spend less than half that time just flashing the latest nightly of cm7 and leaving it at that...don't even have to worry about the following nightlies until an RC or stable release...that's what i would do if i were you...

Sorry, just quoting for this golden phrase, lol.
And go ahead, flash CM7, is pretty awesome and stable.
Lol why was that a golden phrase?
I read a couple threads about some people having problems that's why I'm scared to try it.
Nevermind going to flash tomorrow

Do exactly as is instructed and you won't have any issues. TBH I don't know why the nightlies aren't RC ready.
Okay thanks

I'm really enjoying CM7 but have one question. How does the uprading work?
Cyanogen comes out with nightly updates, do I need to keep updating?
Everytime I upgrade do I need to format and install the new rom?

You just need to wipe cache and dalvik cache then install the nightly builds. There's links to the builds in the CM7 topic

will it overwrite my previous cm7 nightly setting and apps and stuff?
You'll keep your settings and apparently as long as you don't wipe data. It will just update your current rom

Hi I had just flashed the new CM7 RC2 and I flashed the snap dragon kernel and now the 4g is stuck on turning on. I was wondering if CM7 RC2's original kernel is the reason why it works.
If so is there a way to get the original kernel or do I have to reflash everything? Please let me know thanks!
Just reflash the rc2. The kernal in there is why 4g works. Or u can use the savagenzen kernal and just flash that on top of rc2
yeah im using the Savage Zen 0.1.2 can its working great for me....battery life is also amazing with this kernel....give it a go....u can always go back
I only see rc1 and nightly 14 where is rc2???
I can not find where to get rc2. It is not on my ROM Manager

How should I go abount intalling intellikernel on cm7rc3 . I am a noob and do not really understand the importance of having a seperate kernel (incredikernel is supposed to be superior than the default CM7) .. would I have to do some tweaks after I flash this?
Do I need to wipe anything before I flahs this or any new kernel? is it stable?

That is for the Droid Incredible.
That is why it will not work on our phone.
You can only flash 3rd party kernels related to your phone, and your skin design. meaning you cannot flash an AOSP kernel for Sense ROM, nor a DInc kernel to a OG Droid.
But I am running CM7 RC3 ... which is AOSP.... I am a little confused.

But the Kernel you are looking at is for the Droid Incredible, not for the HTC Glacier. They are two different phones, with two different hardware packages. You must use AOSP kernels for the HTC Glacier.
Could you suggest one that you really like? and do I have to wipe anything before I flash any kernel?

Personally i suggest running the stock kernel that came with your ROM. And i will only use the kernel that comes with the ROM. The developers have built the ROM to run around that kernel. So it should work the best. I know Faux123 has built some top notch kernels....but i cannot speak first hand.

scroll down until you get to cm7 kernels and download the latest grandkin kernel! instructions are on the page =)
I use fauxs oc/uv just cause he's awesome and you can oc it to 1.8 ghz but you have to be careful when overclocking I'd suggest setting up the governers and profiles in setcpu after flashing the kernel. But no you don't need to wipe anything just boot into recovery and install

yeah. they released a flow chart with percentages a week ago. if i find ill link. but based on the flow chart we have ~66% chance of official cm9 (do we really need it though?) we already have a AOKP, Gummy, MIUI v4, nightly kangs, THS and Codename (most of these roms from Stephen.k.spear thanks btw) so in all reality, would the world end with out offic cm9?

"cwm 2.5.x all" is only recovery that backs up stock rom to my knowledge. You will need to flash it to make your backup then flash "cwm fixed for cm7" to proceed with cyanogenmod.

i downloaded the cwm 3.0.0.8 zip file and acording a video on youtube all i have to do is to use the root explorer, rename the recovery from the bin folder and copy there the one i downloaded... so far so good but when i go onto the recovery mode y select the backup/restore option it shows me a buch of errors "E: cant mount cache/partition" and cant open the same path... the thing is that the .zip i downloaded with the recovery has like 4 folders "META-inf" "sbin" "res" "etc"... im new in this whole thing :S please be patient with me...
I recently repaired a D2 for my use but I appear to have an issue with installing any roms on it.
-I first root my device
-Install clockwork from the Play store
-Install clockwork recovery through that
-Install bootstrap program and install bootstrap
-Use reboot recovery option in there
-Factory reset, wipe cache, battery stats (and on my first attempt, the dalvik)
-Install CM7 nightly
-Install gApps
-Reboot
After this, I am stuck on the Motorola screen. Pulling the battery, I am unable to re-enter the recovery from PWR + X and I am forced to SBF the phone.
Am I doing something wrong? I basically followed the instructions on Cyanogen's wiki.
Are you on froyo (2.2) or gingerbread (2.3)? Also what version of cyanogen are you using?
I used an SBF here on the forum, so it's Android ver 2.3.3, specifically:
Code:
1FF-p2a_droid2_cdma_droid2-user-2.3.3-4.5.1_57_DR2-31-110719-release-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf
I'm currently just trying to get CM7 (nightly) on. The latest build under cdma_droid2 in the Cyanogen downloads as I was unsure which one of the 4 sections labeled "droid2" I should use. So, I went with the section that the wiki page pointed to.

My AOKP port is n cm9. Not if your on a custom rom.
Well, I managed to get MIUI installed, only to forget the gapps. So, adding in the boostrap again and clockwork, I hit the reboot into recovery option on the bootstrapper. Only to stay at the Motorola logo and then it appears to boot normally, except that it's now stuck on the MIUI loading splash.
This same thing happened with Liberty and AOKP, every time I want to get back into recovery after flashing a new rom, it does this. Now, if I'm lucky, I can get into the stock recovery (that's IF i can get into it) and do a factory reset but, that only worked once. Is there anything I can do? I'd rather not have to SBF the phone...again (4 times now).
