[Q] Recovery mode question - Acer Iconia A500

We know how to enter recovery mode (power plus volume) so why doesnt that let us update with new roms, kernals, etc?
What is different about clockwork recovery?
thanks

Unfortunately the bootloader is locked by Acer. We can't load custom firmware until its either bypassed or Acer gives us the tools to fix this.

Stuck in recovery mode? Please help !!

Hi,
I was on stock bootloader and stock OTA 4.03 ICS rom. I wanted to upgrade to jellybean rom from tegraowners. I am now stuck in recovery mode.
Here are the steps i did.
1) rooted my A500 succesfully
2) With the Blackthunder APX flash tool i flashed in auto mode the Skrilax_CZ V8 bootloader (with multiboot) also succesfully.
3) Then i flashed with ADB.exe the 1.8.1 Touch recovery image that also went well and succesfully flashed it.
4) Booted in recovery mode and wiped data.
5) Went to install from external zip the latest jellybean rom from tegraowners wich is ofcourse on my sd card.
6) It started to formatting my system partition ( i think it was on 7%) and then it suddenly restarts my tab.
Now the only thing i have is power + -VOL is my recover mode and power + +VOL is my other menu i have wich contain the fastboot menu.
From there i am stuck and don't know what else i can do.
I do have my UID number and SBK.
Here is a screenshot of what i have in recovery mode:
Thanks and hopefully someone can help!
You will have to do a "real" data format. And for more help with ROMs from "other" forums you should ask on those "other" forums.
You will find the moderators here do not condone those "other" ROMs.
Perform a real format, then flash a ROM again (you'd better go to Tegraowners.com for more support), but if the problem persists then it may be a bad download, which means you have to download and flash your recovery again. However at TegraOwners you can also find the latest TWRP recovery.

[Q] I can't boot in recovery mode lg p 705

hello
Some time ago I could use key combnations to boot into stock recovery mode Then I installed thf cwm and I managed to boot into cwm.
But when I updated my phone to JB 4.1.2 by means of KDZ it became impossible to boot into recovery mode.
I tried all the possible key combinations but in vain. Each combination leads me to hard reset.
I wish to install a custom rom but since booting in recovery mode is impossible, I wonder if there is a way to boot in recovery mode without key combination or another way to install a custom rom without booting in recovery mode?
Thank you for the help

No recovery, what should i do to fix?

Hi, I have a GS4 (SCH-I545) and I was trying to get CWM recovery, so I used ROM Manager to flash it, and it only gave me the stock recovery, so I then tried Flashify, flashed CWM then I got Odin mode instead of a recovery mode, it said unable to boot in the top left, so I just tried to boot up recovery mode, still got Odin mode, and I couldn't boot my device unless I used the download mode method (Vol down + home + power to get to the warning screen, vol down to restart phone) so I guess I have no way to get to recovery mode, what do I do? Also I apologize for this huge run-on sentence.
You dump CWM, as it is outdated, and try TWRP.
You can either flash it with Odin (Instructions are on their site) or you can use flashify to flash the twrp.img.
Untick auto-reboot in Odin if you are using this method.
Is the sch-i545 from Verizon? I think it has a bootloader that may be locked, depending on the bootloader version on the phone.
Yes, it is a Verizon phone.
Now, considering the circumstances, try unlocking or patching the bootloader.
Bootloader unlock apps and methods may have no effect or brick the phone.

Trying to fix a fake S5 = Hell

So, long story short, i have a Galaxy S5 Fake in hands (not mine). But i'm trying to fix it.
I realized soon enough it would be harder than i expected.
This beast comes with trojans all over the rom. So my first thought was , let's wipe it.
After the wipe, everything is installed back, all the junk and trojans.
So i decided to flash using download mode.
Here's how the button combos are set :
Recovery Combo (Power + Home + Volume UP) would send me to a english recovery.
Donwload mode combo (Power + home + volume down) would put me in a chinese recovery instead of download mode.
So... yeah.. no download mode! After a while trying to flash a custom recovery using flashify app i noticed that cwm was successfully installed! But once again... Trying the recovery combo now , would just boot normally and the download mode combo is still in the chinese recovery.
Also trying flashing via fastboot without sucess.
I'm running out of ideas! Any help?

Is there any way i can check if cwm was really installed and is it possible to change the boot script to load it instead of the chinese recovery?
Recover the whole stock status with Odin, then you can flash custom things.

how can i flash with odin without download mode?
No point asking about it here, just because they stuck the name S5 on it, doesn't make it an S5, the hardware will be different, ROMs won't work, likely ODIN won't either as ODIN is for Samsung, and it's not a Samsung phone
Find out what hardware is in it, and go from there

Sorry, didn't sleep much.

Not even recognized it's not a Samsung.

cant get into download mode?only recovery mode works!!cant use ADB as it has no OS so cant on USB debugg mode...tried flashing custom recoveries but says signature error!!tried CWM/TWRP doesn't work tried samsung 300k tool also says purgecomm function failed error 5...plz help stuck on recovery mode only and i want to flash stock rom
Holding Volume down and power should get you to the OS Warning screen, then a quick volume up press should get you to download mode. Those are very deliberate actions, and the fact ONLY your recovery works plus the fact you cannot install custom recoveries to your device tells me your S4 is a counterfeit chinaphone.
On the flip side, you need Odin to install a custom recovery, not the tool you mentioned. Some more detail from you might be helpful, such as where you got the phone from.
