i've seen in some posts that the hd2 battery could take up to 3 days and loose anly 2% - 5% during the night ... well for me it's impossible ... my phone at standby eats 5% per hour .... i have 2 battery and thy drain the same ...i want to know if it's similar for everybody or just me ... and if there's any application or setting to make the battery life longer .

turn off bluetooth, wifi and data to conserve battery life
download currentwidget and see what the draw is on your battery when it is on standby
If you are on a Gingerbread build like I am, you may want to uncheck the Data Enabled box found under Settings/Mobile & Wireless Settings. I found just by unchecking this on the Pongster CM7 build I am on, it stopped the frequent battery spikes I was experiencing. Also, like the other poster said, turn off all active sync, WiFi, GPS Bluetooth, etc. if your build doesn't do already. Use Current Widget found on the Market to determine stand by battery drain. After I unchecked the Data Enabled box, I went from an overnight drain of 20-25% down to 3-4%. On the Froyo build looking at my wife's Android phone, you would uncheck Enable Always-On Mobile box. Hope this helps your situation.
..must be any third party app. My drainage is 2% in flightmode every night. Already tried to find out which app cause your drainage?...also your standby drainage is a bit high. Im losing 1mah per hour or less with data on.

A steady 1mA or less is virtually impossible with the HD2...let alone any phone.
But as a rule of thumb, Android should drain 2-9mA when in standby, it just varies by build, location, what you have installed, signal quality, etc.
Where I live, I have full signal but only Edge and I have data, bluetooth, gps, and auto sync on and I drain on average 6mA when in standby.
You either have Wifi on (it causes weird drain issues), bad signal or an app that is eating your battery.
of course i disable everything .....so if i go to setting/about phone/battery use may i see all what drain my battery or i have to get an application that can give exact informations ...
i installed the current widget and in the classic apprearence i see 204 mA and in the clear text apprence i see 204 mA with 89% in the battery. is it normal?

let your screen off for 2 minutes and then check your consumption with current widget(the widget should refresh the value every minute by default)
..so you can be sure that teh shown value is teh standyby value.
The standby value should be between 2-5ma.
When your screen is on it should drain between ~100 - ~300ma depending on your screen brightness.

Maybe a little more information about what ROM you are using. There are quite a few experimental ones out there. I'm using CMYLXGO's Bluetopia usually, but I like to try different ones all the time. My battery is usually pretty good with about two days with medium to light use.
in about phone i see systeme android 57% than standby gsm with 17% ...
i'm using now hyperdroid v12 but i used rafdroid, coredroid, and cm7 and almost the same battery draining ...
i thought it's my battery but when i used another one i saw no diffrence
with heavt use i cant stand a half of day

Are you restoring a backup after trying a new rom?
...try with a clean rom without any apps installed.
Seems that an app prevents your phone to go to standby.
you right ... i did a restore i will try a clean install as u suggested and see the battery drain befor installing any application ...
i want to know if Clk or Magldr or the build version ( 2.3/2.4) have any realation with battery drain ...
i've read that the sense rom and rom based on hd build drain battery faster ... if u used much roms u would see that some roms use battery more than others ... so please i need a personal suggestion from u to use any special rom ( with fm radio if possible...too bad it dosnt work on hyperdroid)
thank u for ur support

is this so far the most power saving build? or anyone has suggestion? i have setcpu and task killer.
There is no "most powersaving" build. It always depends on various things you have done. Also I think those numbers are just an average, they don't have to be right.
When I leave my phone in standy at 100% battery it stays about 2 days in standby before it reaches under 5%. Just a tip, never let your phone running android run out of battery. I have heard this may cause corruptions of your data.img file.

Jepp... that happened to me. Not to recomend, had to reinstall from zero.
i have tried mattc leo build before and others..it does not seem to last longer as this build does as for example..when u have 100% and u disable most things task killer, setcpu and dim the display and the next day (not even 24hrs) it drop to like 30% or lower..i even install autostart and disable thouse autostart apps or background, still the same.
When i use this build same thing but just didnt do autostart things...and 100% put it idle..and next day (not even 24 hours), you will still have like roughly 80% and play around bit and next day afternoon and it still has 60% or something...
i basically try to test the phone in light use or mostly idle..
it basically the best so far i have tried (i just used 3~5 different builds)
i dont know how to check the standby ma as i saw someone said use battery status but i downloaded it and it does not provide much details but only

You have to check this with current widget. It's for free in the market. Set the intervall to 1 min. And remember: It's not an app, it's just a widget.
If you got a standby drain of < 10mA you're a happy guy
As I never tried much builds because I like mine with Sense, I have to say I don't know about the battery lifes of others, but as I heard and seen, should mattc have a very good battery life.
Watch my setup in my signature.
I've installed SetCPU and some profiles. I recommend using the conservative governor, seems the best so far. With data enabled I get a standby drain of about 5mA, so my phone lasts without any problems for 2 days in standby.
hihi may i ask what is your standby ma? <10ma?

I'm wondering if my battery drain on standby is normal so I want to know yours. I see some people with 4-5 mA drain and that makes me think whether my drain is on the excessive side.
batery drain: 11-12 mA. sometimes jumps to 130-200 mA, i wonder why?
What's on: background sync, 3g.
what's off: gps, wifi, auto-sync.
auto updating apps: yahoo mail
Please follow that format if possible. Thanks.
Your battery consumption is good, you will have around 5ma too by turning off 3g data. The 130 ma thing is due to automatic update somewhere. (mails, rss, facebook etc)

the only app that updates automatically is yahoo mail, i'm sure of that. so the jumps is a mistery to me. sometimes the jump is above 200 mA.
standby battery drain: 5-7 mA.

if switch to 2g, standby battery drain can goes down to 3mA

I know this is noob-ish, although I consider myself somewhat seasoned, but what app (or other method) are you using to measure battery drain? I'm running shubcraft 2.0 over ChuckyROM and in standby all day won't last more than 11-12 hours. Ouch.
Thanks in advance.

CurrentWidget, free in the market.
Thanks so much!
My drain is mostly about 5mA. Sometime it is between 5-9mA.
I have nothing that sync automatically, but I have those jumps too. Mostly they're between 150-200mA. How often do they appear in your phones?
So, know whats on:
Data, GPS on but no apps using it, Systempanel, Facebook, Whatsapp
What's off:
WiFi (but the same standby if I'm using WiFi instead of 3G), bluetooth
In airplane mode it's only 2mA, sometimes 3
My drain averages about 5-7mA with the combo in my sig
3G on all the time (not a single data drop on over 3 days as well, best rom I've used), auto sync on for facebook and google contacts etc every 20 mins.

Mine is usually in 65-70ma range. There really is something wrong with it.
Are there any places to check for battery drain? I tried a blank data.img, which did not help. (I'm on HyperDroid 1.7).
4-8 ma in standby. i guess this is a good value!
wm rom: goatrip android 1.0
android build: mdj froyo revolution 2.3 with S7 test 3 kernel
radio rom: 2.12
my drain is between 2 and 5 mA in standby condition with background sync, 3g, data on. According with autoupdate scheme it's jumping to 135 mA
My configuration is as follow:
WinMo rom: VBNDroid-Reloaded2Alt-24634-Oct13
Radio: Radio_2_15_50_14
Android Kernel: hastarin 8.5
Android rom: [Everyday Builds][latest linux_on_wince_htc][PPP] CM6.1+
SetCpu: 245-1190MHz, Interactive governor plus screen off profile 245/245MHz powersave
My cpu is also undervolted: Hastarin CONFIG_HTCLEO_UNDERVOLT_800
My quadrant score is around 2000
No problem at the moment with this configuration. I have been running this for 2 days

Build - MCCM 3.3
Kernel - Hastarin 8.5
Radio - 2.10.50.26
WM - Cleanex OzRom
Between 4 and 5 mA in standby which equates to a loss of around 1% an hour. And with what I would call normal phone use I usually have around 30% charge left after a 16-17 hour day, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. I have stayed with an older radio because I have never had any issues so have seen little point in updating it.
I am more than happy with my battery life.

It's good that you didn't change. I think 2.10 is very stable. I'm using 2.14 and I think the standby was better with the older ones. But how much do you use your phone during the day? Mine is at 40% after 12 hours of moderate use. I think this should go better

What I would call a normal usage. On average around 5 phone calls totalling around 20-25 minutes, some wi-fi and data usage totalling around 30 minutes, some game playing and a lot of display usage as I read books using FBReader while commuting.
This is all guess work though if I'm honest, I have never measured exactly what I do with my phone each day because as long as I get through the day without it giving me low battery errors I'm happy. I would say I have been on 40% after 12 hours use quite a few times, that doesn't seem unusual to me.
My average battery drain is 3ma to 5ma
With wi-fi on 7ma
I'm seeing spikes upto 400 ma.
I assume this is because I am running the stock WM ROM?
I'm new to hd2 (from HTC legend).
Will using a custom WM ROM like chuckydroid get my battery running sweet ?
Gotta say hd2 is a dream !
I keep reading about this new improved battery life with Gingerbread, however I've found the opposite.
By the time I leave off work, my battery is typically at about 84%, that's with no usage all day. Today is the first time at work I've been running Gingerbread, I'm only half way through the day and my battery is already at 69%, if it keeps draining at this rate, it's going to be down to about 30-40% by the time I've left off!
Did you do a factory reset ? It helped me a lot, i'm at 4 days 6 hours with 16% battery remaining.
Also check if you aren't scanning for wifi 24/7.

Google
I had dreadful battery life and discovered that Latitude was polling constantly and also Google Talk.
Make sure you sign out of both and see if it makes a difference.

Disable? with force close?
Right, I've disabled Tell HTC, signed out of Google Talk and made sure it doesn't sign in automatically. I've also signed out of Latitude.
The top four things listed on the battery usage are:
- Display = 34%
- Wi-Fi = 15%
- Android System = 13%
- Dialer = 13%
All others are pretty much under 10%.
I'd rather avoid doing a factory reset due to the amount of information and length of time it's taken me to get everything set up. However, I made the mistake of thinking that Wifi wouldn't be used if mobile network was on. My plan was that I would then connect straight away to Wifi when I was at home, and when it lost the signal it would switch to my mobile network. Well, this seems to work fine, however obviously as shown above, it's still using a fair bit of battery. I think I'll just start turned Wifi off completely until I'm going to use it.
For enabling/disabling wifi i use https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sas.inappwifitoggle . Long press search key and it gets enabled or disabled.

Check out this thread about the Dialer issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069251
My battery life hasn't improved either.
With moderate to heavy use I get about 6-7 hours only. My brightness is usually set at 30%
Display - 69%
Dialer - 8%
Cell standby and others - 4% and less
Is this normal?
Could you give us some more information here ? I mean what type of system are you using, Stock, or some type of ROM ?
I'm running LeeDroid's latest ROM, 2.3.3 and have Green Power installed so data gets turned off when my screen is off.
Auto-sync is turned off too.
In regards to mail, twitter syncing I set mine to every 6 - 12 hours.
I have had gingerbread RUU for 1 week now. With Froyo I used to get 15-30 hours depnding on wether I used 3g or Wifi(Wifi more conservative of battery). Since GB update my maximum battery lasts for 12 hours. I have noticed severe battery drain uder WiFi. Previously with 2.2 with the phoned switched off at night with Wifi enabled, the battery would drain approx 7% in 7 hours. Well today I did the same test switched off phone, left wifi enabled and the battery dropped from 90% to 46% in 7 hours which equates to 7% an hour with the screen off!
This is unacceptable! I sent HTC an email to expalin this but all I got was list of ways to reduce battery life such as swich off wifi, move to 2g, switth off live wallpaper etc etc. But all of this is absolutely of no use if the battery is draining at 7% an hour with the screen off. As I mentioned before with 2.2 the wifi drainage was small approx 1% with screen off.
Can someone suggest a solution?
1)Should I contact HTC again?
2)Try a custom ROM?
I havent tried a custom rom yet as the phone has been runnning well minus poor battery but I may have to if a solution cannot be found.

I noticed the same drain as well when I updated, but after a few days of testing I found that the problem was with one of my apps widgets. My guess is that the app is not efficient on gingerbread.
After removing the widget, everything was fine again.
To sum it up, check your apps.

Also how do i know what i can stop without making other things crash on me
for example. i do not use my sense account so can I shut dwn all things to do with sense that are running without risk?
I had the issue with battery life too. Just get the wifi switch on your homepage and turn off if you're not using it. Otherwise it constantly scans and leaches your battery.

Hi All,
My HTC HD2 battery drains in 5 - 6 hrs while using normally (Music, Only Gmail Sync, Watsapp , Mails , and few Calls .
Note : I have only edge connection and also my mobile was not connected to Wifi )
I have tried installing NexusHD2 gingerbread 2.3.6 and Froyo 2.3.4 earlier.
But was facing same Issue.
Now i am using cyanogenmod 7 Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 but having same results.
I have seen many post where people say that they can use there HTC HD2 android for 1 day on normal use (with wifi connection).
Can any one please help me on this...?
I've seen posts and expiramented with different radios, roms, tips, and tricks.
I've found (with my tmous) radio 2.15 works best (with most roms) ... also if you only get edge connection (as do I) make sure you turn off 3g connection. the constant search for a 3g signal kills ... fast! also try clearing the battery stats in recovery, charge battery full, discharge until 5 percent, and then recharge so a more accurate battery state can be obtained.
what works for me won't always work for you ... especially when operator error is the main problem
Thanks rubledub.....
I have done all necessary settings like lowered brightness, checked only 2G, disabled sync of contacts, etc.... after reading many posts....
But it just helped me to save battery on standby mode...
In standby mode 1% of my battery drains in every 15 min..
But when im using phone it start draining @1% per 3 min.....
I am using following config :
1 Radio : 2.15
2 hspl : 2.08
While typing this message my 4% battery was drained...
Please suggest something

Download current widget from the android market and report your battery drain. It shuold be around 4ma, which is what I get normally. With Wifi on I get 6ma and airplane mode 2ma. If it is any higher than 10ma I would think you have a problem. 6ma gives me 1%/hour battery drain/
Also be sure to have juicedefender and setcpu installed, these help A LOT.
While using phone I get high battery drain too, can't do much about that.
If you battery drain is in fact OK (under 10mA) then you need to calibrate your battery.
Stupid question: What do the battery usage meters in Settings and Spare Parts tell you?
For me it's 60+ percent display, 15% cell phone standby, and the rest....

I am using Cyangonmod 7 ROM which have internal settings for changing CPU clock etc..
So i dont think setcpu is required...
But i dont know what value should i set for CPU clock cycle... presently i have selected Available governors as "Conservative".
And sure I will install juicedefender and check whether it makes any difference..
And thanks for your reply...!!!

That looks about the same as with my phone. Strange. Maybe the battery is on its way out.

SetCPU will give you the ability to set different profiles. Just trust me, use it. You can set the CPU to perform at high levels when screen is on but at 248mhz when screen is off, thus greatly reducing battery drain.
Current Widget is also essential and saves time. You can check whether your changes have made any difference within a matter of minutes, not hours. It's free by the way, on the Android Market. SetCPU is also free if you search for it here on XDA.
Have you tried calibrating the battery?

Guide ? Tips ?
Download Battery Calibrator from the Market (free) and then follow it's instructions. Basically it involves charging your phone to 100%, then using the app to deliete Android's "history" of previous battery use, then draining your phone back down to 1% / 0%, so that Android knows your battery capacity exactly.
I've never been quite sure if this improves battery life or just the reporting, but is still very useful.
Thanks everybody...
Hi,
Thanks a lot to everybody who helped me with their valuable suggestons on this thread.
My HTC HD2 's battery life has really improved.
I did the following this :
1. Now I am using Nexus HD2 ROM
2. Installed Juice Defender and SetCPU
3. Calibrated my HD2's battery
I tested it on following scenarios :
Scenario 1 :
- HD2 mostly on standby
- Only few calls and messages.
- Only Edge Connection, No Wifi
- Gmail and Facebook Sync
= My battery was active for 19hrs.
Scenario 2 :
- HD2 used moderatley
- Used Apps and Games for 2 hrs
- Wifi Connection for few hrs
- Gmail and Facebook Sync
- Calls. Messages and Mails
- few hrs of Music too
= My battery was active for 7 hrs.
Another question :
1. JuiceDefender and SetCPU has improved my HD2's standby performance. It never used to give me 19hrs on standby.
But when im using HD2 , its battery had made hardly any improvement.
Earlier it used to give me 5-6 hrs, now it is giving me 7hrs. Any other tweaking required..?
Or this is the normal battery life of hd2...?
I know I'm not answering your questions, but one more thing to do.
In SetCpu, enable profiles, then add one: 'When screen off, Max CPU only 245mhz', then enjoy another few hours of battery life! I've done this on a dozen Roms and it causes no issues and does not lag when turning back on.
I also bought the official extended battery for £30 and get about 30 hours in total, plus a neat kickstand!

Never fails means? battery life increases? Dramatically? on which Kernal are you tested with this mod? Looking forward for the clarifications..
So if I'm getting 235mA with an sd installed MccMBoxmax SS Transformer v7.0 ROM it means it's way too much? the 10mA you mentioned is that on a NAND based installation or SD? because I guess the SD should take more power? My phone also lasts pretty much half a day with average use whereas before on WM it would go a day with hard use easily...

Nope, SD should drain around the same, I got 4ma battery drain with ACA SD. Just to confirm, 235ma is immediately after the screen is turned on right? Not whilst the screen is on?
after how much time I need to change battery on my phone ?
Hi!
I installed NAND rom on HTC HD2. I have battery problems (I think).
I left it for sleep for 6 hrs. I turned of bt,mobile network wifi. He lost nearly 15% in that state. I received only one sms. I cant get battery through day. Is that normal or i have problems ? Also i would like to know is there any program to se battery wear out level like on laptops so I can know to replace it. Thanks in advance
Adition on battery stats now i have 12% 16hrs since charged 14.5 stand by 1.5 up time. Is this normal?
try controlling running operations at background. i use android assistant for this. use battery monitor widget for battery information and statistics. at sleep it should consume 2-6 ma. be sure auto sync is closed. control screen brightness, it eats battery very much. with some kernels after activating bluetooth it consumes 60 ma battery in standby until you restart. for good battery life prefer cm7 roms (i'm happy with hyperdroid

Use CurrentWidget from the Android market (free). Just put the widget on a homescreen, put the device to sleep then after a minute or two check the battery drain.
