Hi, I am quite experienced HD2 user and I have been using Android on it right from the start of SD develpopment
What it is, is that my companys director/manager base had all been given HD2's a long while ago, and I have been wondering wether to load Android on them, as they all complain about the speed of WinMo, so yesterday I decided to give it a go on one, I flashed the Typoon CM7 mod to the Nand memory of one and it works flawlessly, this is the thing though, I too have a personal HD2 and have the same radio, same Magldr version, same ROM, and the company HD2 runs much better. The main Noticable thing is that when the phone is sent to standby with the power key and then turned back on the screen comes on immidiately and the screen is responsive as soon as you see it, on my HD2 the screen will take about 3 seconds to come on, then another second or 2 for the screen to become responsive so I can unlock it. The company phones also seem generally more responsive than mine, and it's annoying me, as they work so well, better then the DesireHD we have here too, but my own HD2 is slower The company phones are sim locked Vodaphone UK handsets and mine is an unlocked pre T-Mobile I believe. I don't see how this could make a difference, but I just wanted to know isf there is something I could do to get my handset up to par with theirs. Is it maby because I have flashed more than them, do I need to do some kind of 'deep clean' of the Nand memory?
Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks. Dane.
the only thing you can try it's
- task 29
-reinstall android
if it stays the same, then there's nothing to do about it.

Could you have a look at the LCD model they are using?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11635947&postcount=440
..it seems so, that people that got the AUO LCD Display got the wake up lag
and users with teh sharp one not.
...but this should only affect teh wakeup of teh phone and not the complete performance of the phone.
Also got an AUO Screen and my phone runs quite smooth...but don't have an other HD2 with a sharp LCD to directly compare it.

Hi,
I have recently purchased my HD2 and its been a couple of months now since I'm utilizing it. Barely exploring my phone features, it hangs 20 times in view of the following encountered predicaments :-
1) Receiving 2 simultaneous SMS
2) Receiving an MMS
3) Pressing on any of the keys on the phone whenever receiving an SMS
Well, the list goes on and on. So, in resolving this issue, SIS (Malaysia) had agreed to change a new phone for me. And so they did. Tested it on the spot and everything was working fine, but just after a few days later, the problem reoccur itself again. This time, the entire phone hangs up. No keys can be activated, neither the phone can be turned on.
Firstly, its a brand new phone, so this kinda problem should not arise. Secondly, its no doubt troublesome to flip the back cover and press the tiny red button to perform a soft reset. Why in the darn first place the soft reset button isn't placed outside ? (just liky my old TYTN II)
So I have read a couple of forums with regards to this matter and came upon two conclusions in the end. One, the Manila.exe is the main culprit towards the hanging of the device and two, the HTC Sense application program has a flaw in between. Well, there's a temporary workaround though (that is if you do not want to flip the back cover over and over again), which is to leave the phone idle for 48 hours, let the battery drain itself off and then recharge back the phone again.
48 hours is a long time to wait though, and as a professional worker in my line of work, I really do not have that much of an ample time to linger around waiting for it to run out of juice. I'm totally very much dissapointed with the purchasement of the HTC HD2 as not only the technicians at the SIS (Malaysia) could not get to reproduce my predicaments, they cant even get to solve the hanging issue which I'd reckon, that's what I've been spending most of my time on my new phone (rather than to explore what is has to offer)
Is there a work around to the HTC Sense / Manila.exe problem ? Other suggestions would be to turn off the HTC Sense, but you know what ? Turning off the HTC Sense will be something like buying an Aston and driving it at 40kpmh all the way till the south of France !!! The phone's interface will be dull, and not to mentioned, it will be more a less pictured like my old TYTN II
I do not really have such problems for the HTC TYTN II though, not even one hang moment. Please XDA developers / experts, I'm indeed begging for a solution in resolving this reoccuring problem that somehow not only it will tarnish the brand HTC, it will also loose faith of the end consumers in the market.
why don't you ask SIS to change the phone again?
Just want to say one thing ... "Stock ROM's Suck" , hate to be that blunt but the stock ROMs they put on this beautiful hardware just seem to be time bombs, waiting to explode when you get them home ...
Should flash that sucker!!
To dan138zig
Well, that was my last resort to them, in order to solve it once and for all. I've been travelling to SIS to and fro for 4 times and yet the problem is still left unresolved. They've even tested it in their environment and it works fine (for the 1st two visits). But somehow, they manage to simulate the issue and they replaced the chipboard.
Now, replacing the chipboard was to the previous original phone, though even after the replacement, it still didnt solve the problem. So ding dong here and there, and after several "consultations" with their higher level managment, they agreed to change a new phone for me, off the hook (not undergoing formal procedures, whereby I'll have to wait for another two weeks)
So, getting a brand new phone I'd reckon my miseries will be resolved, but then the hanging problem reoccur itself today again. It seems that the HTC Sense is the main culprit though, after reading a few forums off the Net. And for a "premanent" solution (that is if HTC does not come out with any ROM / fixes / enchancements), I've gotta turn off the HTC Sense feature.
Well, buying a phone that cost 2K plus had already put a large damage in my wallet, now having to face this consequences after the purchasement is a real icing on the cake. What do you think ? If you're in my shoes, what would you do ?

I totally couldnt agree with you more. In my view, they should just have throw the Win OS away and put in the Andriod version of it. Its always windows version mobile phones that are giving the most headache to me when it comes to utilizing it.

Have you tried getting a new SIM? Sounds like the problem only happens when its talking to the network, and as you've had 2 handsets, i'd give a SIM change a go.
On the plus side........... at least you get 48hrs battery life.......
Not much use though if your phone doesnt work I suppose.....

Well, my SIM's working perfectly fine though, it does not give me any form of problem with my old TYTN II neither with other HTC devices I've checked with a few friends of mine. I do really suspect its the Sense that's the real culprit in the hanging of the device. Just really hope that they clear up this predicament with a new release of the ROM

haha, forty eight hours of baterry life ? well, I wouldn't bet on it. Have tried using it extensively and even before it reaches sunset, the battery is out. And guess what ? It's a brand new battery.
The phone's terrific, but sadly, the battery isnt. Its just like you are viewing a beautiful girl from bottom up till the next and the next thing you know it, viewing her face just makes you wanna vomit over and over again
So that's how I could sum up the HD2 as a whole. Most comparison commentators out there did place the HD2 side by side with the IPhone 3Gs. Both eventually also will end up running out of juice in 48 hours when you're performing your day to day call basis

The HTC Support and Releases still does not solve the problem, mate. Its something that HTC R&D as well as the QA team needs to sit down and extensively test the entire device from bottoms up till all forms of problem is resolved thereafter.

hmm, well you did not get what I meant, but that is ok .. I meant the version of the roms suck .. I like WinMo, personally I think Android with is BigBrother Back door is just as bad as the Iphone ...
Hi I have a strange Problem
I have like flashed hundreds of Roms with no problems
recently I flashed a gingerbread rom but went back to froyo cause of on working camera and other issues
regardless what happens now is
My screen starts jumping from one side to another and the key board kinda gets unresponsive mostly at the bottom of the screen and it becomes almost impossible to use the phone, because if I press one thing something else gets pressed and I am forced to use the trackball.
So I unrooted my Hero and flashed the official Htc 2.73 Ruu.. It still happened but settled down.
Then I got a bit brave and unrooted my phone again but still regardless of which rom I use the screen goes unstable even my favourite Elelinux one)
I have the official Rom as nand backup If I Restore it happens and then settles.
But now I cant seem to use the custom roms without the screen jumping around like crazy
HELP
EDIT : Been looking around the net and some people seem to have the issue although quiet alot not sure whether its software or hardware related... possibly could be if the screen has been pressed too hard or something which my 2 year old must have
It still happens on the official rom as well guess time to send it for recycling cause no point repairing it although I am still in contract for a couple of months.
But if anyone has a software related solution you are welcome
when flashing next try wiping everything, clear your sd card, ext, etc and start again. I had a few issues with mine (lag, unsuable, and some issues with screen presses) and all seem to be fine now. (My phone was also turning itself off though)
(my 2 yr old jumps on my heros screen, I dount thats the cause of your issues)
So my HD2 freezes constantly. I don't have the unlock freezing issue nor the black screen freezing issue. My phone will just freeze quite constantly. Doesn't matter if I'm just doing a message, online, or it's just sitting there doing nothing. It will freeze and will have to remove the battery and restart it. I've reinstalled MAGLDR, CWM, and tried several ROMS and it still doesn't make a difference. I remove the battery and have to let it cool for around an hour just to turn it on and be able to use it for a period of time.
Any suggestions out there? Could the battery be bad? The hardware? I constantly use Task Killer and Data Eraser to make sure there aren't unnecessary programs running. I've narrowed my app collection to just the necessary ones that I need. Still doesn't make a difference. Any programs out there that would help with this issue in any way. Would repartitioning my SD card help at all. I have pretty much everything on my SD card as well so the hardware shouldn't be overloaded at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
check here
LOADS of people are having this problem including myself.
As long as Mobile Data and Gps are OFF, I have no freezing issues.
BUT, if I turn on Mobile date or Gps, or both, then GAME OVER.....it freezes within seconds.
It's not your battery, or SD card and don't listen to the muppets who repeat themselves by saying "do a task29" coz it doesn't work.
I've tried 5 different SD card, got 2 hd2's, task29, over 100 roms, different radios etc etc.
Never used to happen on SD builds, only Nand.
if i had the cash, i'd smash my hd2 against the wall and get a Android native phone.
this aint ever gonna be solved.

Hi,
It might be worth trying to flash an original ROM and seeing if the same thing occurs in WinMo.
Have you properly formatted card? (overwrite with size adjustment)
Which rom are you using?
Does it do it on multiple roms?
Have you done a task29?
have you tried a different radio version?

I've tried all those things. I'm using the Nexus 2 Gingerbread ROM by tytung. I've tried winmo roms, android, etc. I've done task 29 several times. Different radios as well. It doesn't make a difference at all. I found a thread that might be the culmination of it all. If anyone else is having problems like I am, take a look at this thread. It's definitely the motherboard overheating and freezing/and or shutting itself off.

Luckily, I pay insurance through t-mobile so I will be picking up a new HD2 pretty soon.
I had a similar problem, but mine came about under different circumstances. I smashed my HD2 against a wall for whatever personal reasons that you shouldn't care about, anyway, so I ordered a replacement display. When I installed the display the phone would freeze just as described by OP. I found that disabling GPS and WiFi allowed me to use it for a longer time, but if I ever so much as applied any pressure to the display (rather than just lightly touching it) the screen would freeze and sometimes it would just straight shut off until it didn't turn back on at all (this was barely the first day after installation). I opened the phone and tested, found out that the LCD flex cable had a defect to it where if it was bent (the position it's supposed to be in once the phone is assembled) the display would "short out" and with the cable fully extended no problems would be present, even after applying pressure to the display or any of the other internal components.
I'm sending my LCD back for a replacement and hopefully the new one will work fine. I've read that some LCD's cause the HD2 to freeze and I think I was unlucky enough to receive one such. I need the phone to hold on long enough until I get my contract renewal May 2012. I'm surviving on my Dream right now and I'm going through Angry Birds withdrawal...

I have similar issue. Could use advice. Please.
My HD2 is about a year old. Decided to try android on the sd.
Device: HTC HD2 TMOUSA
Radio: 2.10.50.26 (Original) NOW flashed to 2.15.50.14
SPL: 2.10.xxxx (Original) NOW HSLP 2.08.0000
Android Rom: SD AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB234 CM71
WM Rom: 2.13.531.1 (Original)
ACA seemed ok but would freeze randomly. So I flashed the radio to the 50.14. Seemed a little better but still a few freezes in android. Thought I would try the partition to improve the sd card performance. can't tell if it helped or not to many freeze ups to use android during the day. NOW my winmo side it giving me random reboots. It gets hot reboots, especially bad if using gps. I know overheating is part of the issue because during the middle of the day in my car without A/C it is terrible.
I also have an OTTERBOX Defend which has kept the phone looking great but is a really pain with on all the battery removal with the freeze ups.
I have read that this can be a mainboard issue, but how can I tell if it is or not?
Could the radio and winmo rom be incompatible?
Should I flash the winmo rom to a more compatible android rom?
Should I send it in since I have TMO insurance? (Anyone know if there is a deductible if you didn't lose the phone?)
I have also noticed the on the winmo side it reboots less if I turn htc sense off.
Not sure if I should go back to a different radio or send it in?
Are the insurance replacements refurbished or new? do they have the same issue?
Thanks for any expertise you care to share.
Had similar problems with Tmous HD2. Problems were really bad in Winmo; aca worked somewhat better. Read forums, tried standard "solutions". With time the problems got to the point where the HD2 would not boot unless it had been placed in the refrigerator for 5 minutes.
Did T-Mobile warranty exchange in April. Replacement was refurb (arrives without battery or sd card, used old one), but looked fine. Had a week to test "new" phone, before sending the old one back. Replacment phone works much better. In Winmo, gps, videos, sense no longer cause reboots; aca also works great.
Hope this helps...

Exactly as my post from a few days ago predicted..."task 29"
FFS.
Now I've read about a problem of the hd2 having digitizer problems and that only a replacement will fix the unresponsive touchscreen issue. But why is it that when I can get my touchscreen to work that it works flawlessly until it goes to sleep? Then i have to continually wake and swype and sleep over and over until it responds. It just seems very weird that after it wakes that it never seems to have a problem. I'm using the miui rom right now and have set the screen to never go to sleep. So I want to see how long it will go without this problem. Has anyone else seen this happening with their phone as well?
Make sure the kernel, and Rom are up to date.
I have that too on an AOSP Gingerbread rom. The screen is not unresposive per se but calibration seems off some times, strage for a capacitive screen.
ive had the problem with android before and there were a few different fixes ...
one fix was to turn off compatibility mode
another was kernel
ive also had the problem with wp7 ( nothing a few hard resets and patience couldnt cure )
either way good luck
well since my first post, i hadn't let the phone go to sleep once and it worked perfectly fine. so i decided to turn off compatibility mode and let it go to sleep.... and when i woke it and i slid my fingers down it actually worked. so far it's worked every time. why would compatibility mode mess up the touchscreen though?
i have NO earthly idea! just a little tidbit i picked from a dev. i would speculate but would end up looking and sounding foolish. so im going to quit while im ahead and have actually been of help :-D cheers
Where can i disable compatibility mode?
I get the same problem. I've used a ICS rom for a day or so and suddenly the lockscreen was unresponsive. I thought it was ROM problem, so I flashed Cyanogen 7, but the screen didn't respond as well... I flashed everything to stock (removing magldr and hspl) and the problem stayed... After several restarts the screen started to respond and now it works (sort of). The tricky thing is: sometimes when I go out from some app in android, the screen doesn't respond again. Locking and unlocking the screen fixes this, but only temporarily.
Did this ICS rom screw something (...hardware?!) or is it a pure coincidence that a few people encounters the same problem for the first time in such a short period of time...
And one more thing... my warranty expired 5 days ago... please help!!!
I had this same problem with my phone before my warranty expired; before I flashed any android roms on it, and while it still had stock WM6.5. I called HTC customer support and they had me send in the phone for repair. They replaced the digitizer and I haven't had the same problem since. It was wierd because in my mind is seemed like a software problem because it would respond nicely as long as the screen was unlocked and the instant it was locked the response was very crappy, sometimes it took forever to unlock my phone. So it might somehow be a hardware issue

I repair phone myself and i can say that i get A LOT of hd2's with this problem. For the most part it is the hardware because no matter what software you put on the phone it is just a matter of the luck you have to get it working. My hd2 broke 2 times b4 and it was always hardware. Htc must of messed up with the hd2 digitizer

from what ive seen in photos of the leo mobo it looks like the connection for the screen/digitizer (not sure on hardware) is located right behind red end call/power button and from being mashed off,on,off,on,etc loosens/damages connection.
or is the hardware screen issue just a complete shot in the darks chance?
OH ... ive had the software issue (fixed as i mentioned earlier) AND unrepairable (with my limited tools and balls to physically tear into this badboy) hardware issues.
well, it's been a few days and my phone still seems to be fine. it hasn't once locked up on me yet. i don't know why turning compatibility mode would fix this. or maybe the phones connectors were loose and are now miraculously back in at the same time i unchecked compaibility mode. the only bad thing was that this was happening the last couple weeks and i had given up and already ordered a sensation 4g. or well, guess i have 2 phones now
Its seems possible. Every since I replaced my digitizer with a non OEM one its has never failed on me again. And I hope it never does. There dam expensive.

Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Compatibility Mode
I also have this issue, therefore I just recently flashed my hd2 with Tytung's 4.0 ICS Rom. As expected, this didn't help very much.. What I am now going to try before I send my phone to HTC is to disable compatiblity mode. BUT, I can't seem to find this compatibility mode check anywhere. Could someone please guide me there?
..
Windows 7
I will be flashing my phone with w7 now, to see wether this is an android kernel bug / softare issue or if this relates to hardware. I also see a lot of people saying that after fixing the digitizer it works again, so it might actually be a hardware issue. I will post my feedback when I have tried with w7.
Hello People :
i have really a problem on my HD2 , i get freezing issue when i am using my phone starting since two months , and try to get the battery out then restart then stuck on Go Go Go or splash screen or on Lock screen , when i cool it a little but it on a Cold ground then it's working again , tried a lot of Rom's (Wmo & Android) , and now i think it's a hardware problem , so what kind of solutions do i have , and what is the exact problem (which hardware part "if it's a hardware issue" is having the problem)?
i really love my HD2 , and not in a good stand to change it now.....
Thanks in advance....
the Leo is prone to overheating. period! thats with everyday "normal" use (with winmo 6.x) this problem is slightly elevated using android and multiplies to an obscene amount in WP7.x
when charging, try to let this baby set. when i charge my Leo with only the screen on (say texting for example) i will normally run 101-105F i would HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest not doing much when charging!!!
ive also read that high amount of data usage, even UNplugged, (mobile data/wifi) will cause this as well ... so!?!
the problems you are describing shouldnt occur until about 115F or about 50C.
my advice is 1.) get a batt temp app (if you havent already) and set it to your home screen where youll watch it. 2.) set your cpu governor (in android if applicable) to on demand. 3.) if neither of these help task 29 and start fresh (youll be amazed at the problems this will cure!)
lastly if your on WP7.x ... get rid of it!!! the drivers are super sub-par written hurriedly to develop WP7 for the HD7 and are (unless hell freezes) never going to be re-written. i mean we JUST got a new touch driver and it caused more problems than it fixed (in my humble opinion)
in any case good luck!

Thanks For Your Replay :
1- i hated WM7 so i don't use it
2- i am using MIUI Roms (Android) since a year
3- i have a battery app called "Battery Monitor Widget" and it was always not more than 39C and it's getting normal mA in standby (3-9mA)
4- every time when i install a new Rom i do Task29 and the other Steps with
1M 5M 160M 5M
5- i don't know if i said that before but even while installing the Rom , during the steps i get Stuck on some steps
Thanks In Advance...
you might try this ... 1M 5M 200M 5M
i always stick with 200 as my default because almost no roms need more than that and if you have bad blocks it will help that issue ... well not turn into a big deal. a larger partition layout will (i guess) make the installation skip the defective areas of the nand and will (usually) cause you to not have any installation errors. good luck
Same problems with HD2
I have virtually the identical problems with my HD2. Usually it works starting out cold but as soon as it warms up or the cpu gets stressed (ie. using the wifi hotspot app) the phone crashes. This was true with the original WM 6.5 and is still happening with a WM 7.5 rom. Sometimes it will reboot right away and other times I just get the Magldr "fatal hit" error message. My gut feeling is that its a motherboard problem...maybe a bad solder connection somewhere on the board so when everything heats up and expands the connections get inconsistent...I'm going to bring it to a repair place and see if they can take a look and see what's up. Really like the phone and the wm 7.5 rom...I'd hate to just put it on Ebay for parts.

reportedly there was a small batch of HD2 with faulty motherboards (used to suffer with one), but there's also one other possible reason for overheating / resets etc - bent battery pin - check it first, if this is the case, then delicate straightening should help
