and i am still trying to figure out how to port the galaxy mms.apk to the MT4G
You won't get the Galaxy S SMS app because it needs the Touchwiz framework. As for the other, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure MIUI has a few depedencies in it.

Am i the only one that really would like the fascinate to get MIUI gingerbread? We already have a port and we also have CM7. It would just make my day if someone would port/upgrade the MIUI ROM that we currently have.

Once we get a fully working CM7, then I am sure someone will take a stab at it. Just be patient. If you are looking for some MIUI with great functionality I would definitely use TSM's MIUIWIZ. It is pretty sweet.

but we won't have a fully working CM7 until we get a leak of gingerbread :/
Also couldn't we get gingerbread MIUI now? but mms and other stuff wouldn't be working
And i'm actually running MIUIwiz right now

I am not quite sure about Miui, But Simply Honey 3.9.1< Ginger Bread> has fixed the blurry MMS. Just keep in mind though if you move from Miui or CM7 that you would need to flask back to stock, get root, either be on Simply Honey 3.3 or any non Miui or CM7 ROM version of Ginger Bread 2.3, then install Simply Honey 3.8 or above. Also make sure you download one of the honey comb boot loaders so you do not get rainbows. I know this is not helping you with Miui specifically but if you want clean MMS then maybe Simply Honey is for you. Good Luck!
~Sorry I originally stated that it was Honey combe, but it is actually Gingerbread...got mixed up sorry...~
Hey all,
I've been dying to have a fantastic essentially stock (real) gingerbread ROM for the G2. While the OTA update is pretty good, it still is missing a few key aspects of what gingerbread should be - blinking LED notifications, the CRT screen turning off effect, a bunch of other stuff. I just recently threw android onto my mother's HD2 Leo, and put this ROM on there. Stock, obviously rooted, with a bunch of awesome features that you can see in the link there. It is FANTASTIC. Probably the best ROM I have ever dealt with.
I guess what I am looking for is a Gingerbread AOSP stock that is currently on the Nexus One - (2.3.5 Gingerbread)
I would love to see a rom identical to this on the G2! Does anyone know of a rom available for the G2 like this?
Or, even better, would someone like to help me figure out how to port this ROM to the g2?
Cheers all
- D
You could try CyanogenMod 7.1-RC1, it has all the features you said you wanted. It does use ADW.launcher, but you can install the stock launcher by following the instructions here.
CM is actually pretty good - my issue is that the look, feel, and operation is nothing like stock gingerbread! I really want something like the stock AOSP Gingerbread Nexus One rom.
EDIT - Hey! One hundred posts!
Cm 7.1 isn't 2.3.5. U need to install the latest nightly. Have a new rom to install every morning is not only exciting, u get new features as they are implemented. What are u talking about CM not being like stock ginger? It IS aosp gingerbread. The true android with zero carrier additions or overlays. You must be confused as to what stock ginger is. Also, get rid of adw the second you install ginger. Adw is a piece of garbage that brings CM WAY down. First thing I always do is search gingerbread launcher in the market and install the real stock ginger launcher. Then your experience will be perfect

Ah - I think that adw launcher is what turned me off of it! I'll give it a go there.
Use the stock launcher, and CM7 is exactly what you want.

This. I've been running a stock GB launcher on CM7 for months now. Check the thread in my sig for it.
I used cyanogen's latest nightly (2.3.5) then xboarder56's converter. Works like a charm!

Ahh, i agree to an extent. For sense, it kinda depends on what you like. Virtuous Unity runs on Sense 3.0. If you ask me, i would tell you to choose the DARKSIDE sense which runs on sense 3.5 and has beats audio. I understand that u are new and everything but i fully suggest that u give a fair share of roms a try. Remember, make a nandroid backup of your faves...expecially of stock, thats very important because its most stable. Here's a quick list of roms that i suggest you try.
STABLE:
MySense (Stock Gingerbread)
MIUI
CM
Virtuous Unity
Virtuous Affinity or the DARKside Sense (both are pretty good and very similar)
Not Stable
Creamed Glacier (I highly recommend this rom)

I definitely will go to Creamed Glacier when it become stable.By the way,why did you recommend me that rom even it is not stable?DARKSIDE have issues or not?
Thanks
CyanogenMod 7 (CM7), extremely stable for me, great battery life, highly compatible with apps. Maybe not as glitzy as sense from stock. I don't really remember what stock was like. It lasted all of 3 weeks or less a bit over a year ago.

The radio has absolutely nothing to do with the rom... and yyou could've just installed go launcher from the market.. and again camera is the same quality as before. Try a sense 3.0 rom

Don't bother, he didn't even give the rom a chance. He basically flashed it, looked at it and was like 'no me gusta'
I flashed rooted stock & installed Go launcher ex.I will go to Creamed Glacier when it become stable(camera).Thank you all for your help!
ROM
well, I think that it all depends on your preference. But if I had to choose which ones were the most stable, I would say either Virtuous Unity, CM7, or MIUI. CM7 is stock android, with a bunch of tweaks. Virtuous Unity is a straight-up Sense 3.0 rom, without any tweaks. MIUI is kind of it's own thing, you would have to go look it up. I only use MIUI when I get bored of using android ROMs, because MIUI is so different; it's like your not even running Android
Hello!
I tried to install a system app from GB ROM to ICS ROM, but I got an error message.
Is it possible to adjust apps from GB to ICS with compiling the APK, or with any other way?
Thanks
What is the error message you got?
Samsung apps won't work on non Samsung roms, so you need to find a ported version or port it yourself
