No change - Galaxy S I9000 General

I had 2.3.3 JVO on my galaxy s and i rooted using cf root. I then flashed GingerReal 5.0 and it also gave me clockworkmod 2.5.1.8 (if i remember correctly) and voodoo lagfix. I now get around 1500 on quadrant. However, i notice no change it the overall performance of my phone. Apps still dont open straight away. How do i know if im using ext4?

Try downloading fuguapp from the market.

If /sdcard/Voodoo/ folder has no "Disable lagfix" file/folder in it, you're on EXT4...

It doesn't but in voodoo control under voodoo lagfix it says Ext4 lagfix active and Ext4 on /system /cache /dbdata /data

Hmmmm, I cant tell any difference in the performance. Say if I'm on the XDA app and go off it by pressing the home button, the next time I go on it it will be like I exited using the back button.

maybe a repartition will help you see full performance. I did it and felt the difference very much.

I've now tried darky's 10.1 aswell as GingerReal. On both roms I had the voodoo lagfix enabled and ext4. Darkys is supposedly the fastest and most popular rom and I still can't tell the difference in the performance of my phone even though I am getting around 1400 - 1700 on quadrant.

I'm on jvp.2.3.4 ext4 and have to say jvo 2.3.3 was smoother and felt quicker - despite quadrant saying otherwise. I still haven't seen a 2.3.4 change log so very interested to know what improvements I'm supposed to be getting.
In fairness though jvp is a leaked rom of course and may not yet be ready for production

I'm not on jvp. I flashed ficetos jvh so I could flash darky's 10.1

check read write speeds =)

Give a try to Talon 2.1 for JVH, 2.2 for JVP.
It gave me the best result on both roms as yet.

Linux Installer Kernel Support

Do we have a kernel that supports ext2 and ext3, and LOOP for the Fascinate?
If so.. where?
..and I can do something in the phone... how?
If u want ext 2 or the loopback u speak of use Ryan ZA s OCLF in the market, we also have voodoo which is the real deal, and that's in ROM manager

by nand permissions im assuming you mean superuser...and yes root gives you superuser.
fwiw oclf is a mostly placebo lagfix that does nothing but give giant quadrant scores...ditch it

no. from what I gather there are 2 kinds of roots. the first being the one that gives superuser. now I'm hearing of a deeper root that opens up more possibilities. and about oclf, I thought it replaces the file system with a better one. what would you suggest? I would try voodoo, however I don't believe its out for this phone yet.

i think you are thinking of htc phones that have root and then unrevoked which will give you permanent nand unlock.
our phone isnt like that
the filesystem you are referring to is rfs and oclf changes the system to ext2
voodoo changes it to ext4 which is more effective and has been out in some form or another for over a month and a half

Lagfix? Axura

Axura is amazingly fast and stuff but I want it fast as before on when I had lag fix on my stock j16
Can I apply oclf and be good with no bugs or soft bricks or is there something else for the Axura lagfix

Do not apply oclf. It does not play nice with axura use the voodoo kernel in the op of axura thread.

Put the voodoo.zip on your phones sd card, go into Clockwork mod recovery mode, choose install zip from sd card, and choose the voodoo.zip file, and the process will take awhile, so be patient

Go to the Team Whiskey site. There's a thread on the Voodoo install and uninstall. It very different then OCLF yet still easy just not as..
I don't even run a lag fix anymore, Axura 2.x is quite snappy without it. And I find Voodoo while it works well, it tangles up in my system more then I prefer because I'm always flashing something.
But that said, Axura and Voodoo and your flying.
Good luck.

Samsung's GB uses RFS by default... sorry! Unless ofcourse you "lagfix" it into EXT4...
I just thought I read that the gingerbread update was going to change that. http://m.androidcentral.com/gingerbread-brings-ext4-file-system-new-devices . Or is the galaxy s exempt from this?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
No prasad007 is correct.the sgs file system is rfs.its a matter of opinion and personal choice whether to convert to ext4
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I would think this is good since the 4g 2.2.1 worked really well in the vibrant. Unfortunately, Eugene is not working on Vibrant anymore.
Could be.... let's wait and see what happens!
gingerbread kg6 with voodoo lag fix and cwm recovery mod working 100%. you can have voodoo and recovery working perfect on kg4 or kg6 which ever rom you choose to used.to get voodoo lag fix and recover u have to odin the leak kg4 then odin zimage-root-tar (http://www.multiupload.com/VAVL4BXBE6) let it boot and odin zimage-kg4.tar.md5 (http://www.multiupload.com/VBZSMM133B) let it boot and odin.GB stock kernel+cwm+voodoo fxt4 lagfix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1194032.html) that it for kg4 now for kg6 u have to disable voodoo, download the cwm kg6 rom and flash it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1197814.html) after u flash let it boot up and download busy box from the market and then get into download mod and flash ,Gb stock kernel+voodoo+cwm ftx4 lagfin .install busy box and u r good to go .u can install busy before and after u flash the GB kernel
