Working on a custom rom that will be fully skinned in red to match the red streak. All aspects of the rom will be altered with new graphics and tweaks.
I am currently looking into adding.. yes adding.. two new features to stock roms and this one.
anyone interested in assisting with this please PM, I am looking for someone who is familiar with multiple roms and has a good knowledge of xml.
thanks.. please stay tuned.

Hey mayn I have no idea about the cooking jazz or XML but would love to test it for you!! I have a black one and my girl has a red one she will love it....
Thanks a lot for making streaking a better experience!!
Peace Out

I work with xml a lot, let me know if you need me to do anything.
I would be happy to try and offer some assistance, I have a bit of experience with cooking winmo and android, including porting etc, and have recently built an alpha build for my streak.
Let me know if I can help
Jumped over a major hurdle... should be releasing the rom as a beta in the next day or two... Gotta run with tonights fixes for tomorrow and make sure there are no bugs.
thanks
Wow! A new rom! That's nice! Would there be an option to turn it into black color instead of red?
I am going to release a plain rom first in the next day or two. And will rebuild realred from it

What advantages are there to using 354 as the base over 351? Since 354 is customized for the Hong Kong market isn't 351 more flexible? Doesn't 351 include better language support?
Is the kernel different in 354?
Just because it was released after 351 doesn't mean that includes improvements, in fact 353 (last AT&T rom) was released after 351 and it isn't Android 2.2.2, it's 2.2.
So - I am wondering what is different or better about 354 over 351?
Will Netflix work? So far, I've only been able to get Netflix to work on Steve's 1.9.0. Even the 1.9.1 betas have broken Netflix for me.
a rom is a total image of the phone. Mine will be based on 354. There will be no aspects of 351 in the image. The first rom i release will be an optimized version of 354 with tweaks. Once that is completed, I will build upon that.
I am one of those people where when I learn something new i like to practice it a few times so it becomes memory. I want to perfect what I am doing so there are no issues for users.
Yesterdays test went really well btw. Things are looking good
thanks Krad

erm, cos it's awesome?
StreakDroid 1.6.0 because it is stable.
I haven't found a compelling reason to upgrade or perfmod. Gameloft games work with 1.6.0. I was stuck on 1.4.6 until 1.6.0 and do miss the "rear door check" being disabled. Many tweaks can be done without flashing.

anyone else have the "this file is audio only" in stock Movies Player?
anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

1.7. It has been the best of Steve's bunch for me. No issues at all.
so far a lot of you are on the official ROMS, impressive if you ask me. im on 1.6.1 as it seemed more stable to me, i couldnt change my keyboards on 1.7, or change the brightness like i used to, so i downgraded.

I stayed on 1.6.1 because its stable. 1.7 doesnt support FFC for Fring and I use it a lot with my girfriend. I think I'll stick to this ROM till the great Dj_Steve comes up with Honeycomb.
Steve's 1.7.. its perfect!
I probably will upgrade when I get the confidence! Just really scared of upgrading and bricking the device. Compared to Touch Pro on WM - I remember upgrading to custom rom on the very first evening! I suppose this is partly because there was more room for WM to be improved on. I am very happy with Android tbh.
Would be really nice to use Honeycomb on this device, but somehow I think it's going to be challenging. I have heard a lot about DJ Steve's achievements, but...let's wait and see and support him however we can.
Another thing - I cannot find any screen shots of roms available - so less tempting to upgrade I think. If the designs were shown-off a bit better, I suppose I would do the leap of faith and upgrade
Current status
Currently running 1.4.6
reasons for this :-
tried 1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.6.0, 1.6.1 had issues with all trying to use gps.
1.4.6 seems to have best battery of all.
Have checked what 3rd part apps & widgets have been installed as well and even with minimal installed 1.4.6 seems best

This is a just leaked rom for the galaxy s. hopefully the devs can use it for the vibrant.
well even if not at least we know now that Samsung wasn't lying about March for the euro/Asian markets.
Nice, hopefully we will be able to use this to our advantage?
Also, couldn't we flash this since we now have the kernel that allow us to flash i900 ROMS? If we could just flash those files, then flash the kernel through Odin somehow it might work. Idk though, I'm no dev.

damb, this is so great, im thinking maybe tonight we might have a port for the vibrant, and i wonder if eugene and krylon know about this considering, it just today got leaked, a few hours ago.............. anyways, everyone post on this, lets get the hype going, we want this baby ported ASAP.. always thanks so much eugene and krylon, my brothers of galaxy android
So far from what i've read over there...
Looks like quadrant scores are not improved over 2.2 which is what i'm sure most people are hoping for. It also appears that the screen off animation is not present in the rom. It's also using Touchwiz 3.0 and not 4. Market is broken, and gingerbread keyboard also not included. Looks like an early beta build from what i've read.
**edit**
market is working, they have root access, and they are in the process of deodexing.
So far from what i've read over there...
damn double post. please delete
Sweet, hope we can get some cooked roms soon

The kernel that allows us to flash i9000 ROMs is only 2.2 and 2.2.1 compatible. I'm pretty sure someone would have to build a new kernel to let us flash that or port the ROM over.
The crowds are getting restless over there. They're in an uproar about "this is missing" and "that is missing". One of the complaints is about the gingerbread wallpaper being missing. But these guys forget that our 2.1 devices didn't come with stock 2.1 walls. They instead came with whatever wallpapers samsung gave us. Overall it's starting to sound more complete than the first froyo leaks that we used to have which is reassuring. Some of the guys say that the leak is stable and everything is working on their devices. One of the nice improvements they're reporting is functioning hardware acceleration.
No TV-off?! NOooOoO!

Funny to see their behavior over it when we are just sinking our teeth into 2.2.1. Maybe its a good thing though.. I myself am so pleased with the performance boost of 2.2.1 that I'm in no rush to flash again but of course I'm in the minority on that.

fards,
First, I really appreciate what you've done to make our Streaks performing better, as the likes of DJ_Steve, Krad, Spidla, and others. Your dedication to the dev of this great device has been invaluable. I did think before posting my comment. I know there have been communications around gingerbread coming to Dell Streak during the winter and that the source code had been posted which DJ_Steve had utilized in this ROM, but having said that there is no definitive answer to this question until the update is pushed out to us. If you read my comment you will notice that I stated that I don't think that there will be an official GB build. I hope that we get it, obviously, I'm just "don't believe it til I see it" kind of guy.
I would like to state again that I really respect your work and hope you will see the slight difference in the point I was making.

Can you post a link to that? Cause if you can't it might be because it's a closed beta that the dev has not released yet. So telling people to install something that isn't available isn't very useful.

Gee - that's my point. So why do people keep suggesting the Streakdroid betas as a fix to various problems?
I would recommend the version of Ice Cream Sandwich my Streak is running but i would get kicked out of the testing program. But it works really well, you should see the beta version of Google space maps it includes and it will stream music from any source within 50 miles in stealth mode!
Hi,
Streakdroid 1.9 has started to crash and go into a bootloop now I so I think it's about time I changed as this has happened before. My options are:
SimpleStreak
Streakdroid 2.3
My question is, is Streakdroid 2.3 stable enough to be used by someone who needs the phone fully working.
I don't want to bither the guys in the thread so thought I would ask here.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Its stable enough. Read through the thread to get a better understanding.
Sent from the SuperStreak! ;-)
I was going to ask a similar question as at the moment I'm not had much luck. While it has been responsive and nice and quick, this morning I've have it crash loads. Along with a number of other ROMs that I have tried I don't seem to be having much luck.
Has anyone got more experience of maybe a older more stable ROM.
If you want stability go with stock 351 or 360.
SimpleStreak and Streakin' 354 have had the best reports of stability IMO. I have not used them, this is based on reading the threads - like you should do.
GingerStreak is still in development and some stuff does not work. So it would be usable only if you don't need the functions that are not implemented yet. What's your defintion of "fully working"?
Yep I did read through the threads which is why I put on streakdriod, then hit some issues. The others where a bit daunting with 50+ pages of comments to read though to see it was a bit pointless looking at it.
Really just looking for a pointer before I start reading up further.
So cheers what you offered will be a good starter.
I've been using 2.3 for a week now. I've only had one random reboot whilst using the youtube app. Currently it's been up for 3 days without reboot. It's nice to use, quick and also has the gingerbread enhancements.
Give it a try, you might just like it ;-)

Since you are coming from 1.9 and willing to change, I dont know what kernel the SimpleStreak runs on , so I will not comment on that. I can talk a bit about 2.3b2 since I am spending time with it. There you have a pretty stable kernel I can compare it with the stability of the 1.9.1 ( as a kernel ) but the framework of 2.3b2 is less stable so be prepared for surprises. As for the notion of "fully stable" you may need to go back to earlier options that had been around much longer ( and even there you might not find it ).

Looking for an awesome developer to port 2.4 to the Dell Streak 5!
A nice build (in my opinion) would consist of removed bloatware, performance increases andddd full functionality!
I'll start the donation list up with $50 towards the successful developer!
unfortunately i dont belive that we will see this soon or may be ever. thats why i sell me streak tomorrow. its a wunderful device.
but there is no CM7 for the streak yet. and building a working ASOP/CM ICS without drivers and a proper kernel will not be possible.
in my opinion a device that run CM7 will have a chance to see ICS.
so i am sure we will see ICS for htc desire and galaxy 9000. also even old devices.
but good luck!

we will see.

Tbh I'm not quite sure. I started with Streakdroid 1.8, then upgraded to 1.9, both had me at 1.4ish stable. I switched to Simplestreak's first release and SetCPU was allowing me up to 1.6, so I've kept it there. With a fresh reboot I can quadrant a little over 3k, but my battery is literally like 8 hours with standby and a movies worth of viewing.
