thanks for this, im no dev but im defiantly going to take a look see

Thanks for post.
Oh and either it has to be stripped down big time, or unpacked to sd on installation, then copied over to ext partition, and symlinked, for g1 users...
mytouch 3g users will be able to flash this (hopefully) anytime soon. but they will need apps2sd nethertheless
(edit: lol... there are like a dozen of archieves in it... wanna mock me?
Can anybody try to unpack it properly, and send me the unpacked files. (one time ziped, maybe)

Or you can use firerats cache hack to free up 30mb on /cache supporting these larger roms, so you wouldn't have to strip it down thatt much lol

easy fit an an mt3g without a2sd
/system 90mb
/cache 80mb
170mb,,
might have stick some on data
going to be easier to fit on NoneDanger than Danger
even a g1 can probably fit most, if not all the system files onto the internal memory, user apps and dalvik-cache would defiantly need to be a2sd
I might have a look when I'm done with what I'm doing

I think this phone maybe a good phone... And T-Mobile made a good decision to not include live wallpapers because Sense + Livewallpapers = Tremendous lag... If the phone comes out like the hardware and software described i am certainly buying it

Live wallpapers isn't that good. Just waste battery and makes the system slower but it is good eye candy and great to show off the phone. The phone has a decent amount of RAM (512 mb) so once this phone gets rooted someone can enable LW.

Interesting. You are aware though, that wp7 is still the same basic OS though, right? It just has a new ui layer for us to use as opposed to the one we are used to. In fact, it still technically retains binary compatibility with all native winmo 6.5 and earlier apps. They have just limited it in that regard. Something the people here on xda will break I am sure.

Obviously not a software developer.
It technically doesn't retain binary comparibility with native Windows Mobile 6.5 Apps, because binary compatibility infers the System Libraries and APIs that all Native WinMo 6.5 apps use still exist in WP7, which is simply not the case.
Yes, I'm sure Microsoft used Windows CE as a base, but I'm also pretty sure they stripped most User Interface related elements, and then some, out of it and rebuilt all of that for Windows Phone 7.
Windows Mobile 6.5 applications would fail colosally to run on WP7, and it would take a severe amount of hacking to get them to run.
It isn't worth the effort, and given how much effort it would take... It's not even worth the time to do it for the "look what I did" cookies, IMO.
If Windows 8 came out and they rewrite the entire Graphics and Sound subsystems, deleted a bunch of APIs, and ripped out a bunch of Libraries how well do you think Adobe Photoshop would work on that OS without significant changes?
We all seen how colosally some applications failed moving from 9x to NT and then even from XP to Vista...
Things aren't that simple.

the answer is obviously yes. sense 3 with 2.3.4 is gonna be stock on the mt4gslide so once thats leaked you best believe we will have it. granted the mt4g slide has dual core processor and 200 more ram, so it can handle a bit more, you best believe our phones can still handle it, it wont take much more to run 2.3.4 than 2.3.3 which the mt4g already handles with great speeds. so just give it a month or so before an official build leaks and we will have it.
Almost the only difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 is the Google Framework.
You can just flash the latest one (which is integrated into most ROMs by now, all those supporting Gtalk video have to do it), and you'll get whatever you really need 2.3.4 for.

No, the MT4G has 768MB. Check every online spec site. Heck even check the box the thing came in...
There's a command line you can enter in Terminal that says something about ~626, but that does not report total system RAM. I'm sure someone else can explain that better, but the MT4G does indeed have 768MB of total RAM.

He probably just didn't realize that the phone allocates a portion of the RAM out of default. I'm on CM7 and it shows 309 RAM used out of my 626 available. That's probably where he's getting that number from.

You can't have it showing right - because currently the Gtalk app was only built and adjusted for Nexus S, and was hacked to work on other phones. As such, it's not adjusted properly to be running on all the phones with different camera libs, and that includes Sense camera libs. Sense ROMs with 2.3.4 will cure it, if they'll have Talk app - which they might not.

Even when I had the Nexus S if your phone wasn't on stock you still had to find a work around to getting video chat to work on g-talk, then there was the issue of having it work on 3G and not just wifi.

Has anyone tried to port the evo view to the nc? I had the chance to play with one and I think it would port well as it is gb based and it is on a 7" tablet.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
No offence, but... why?
1) The nook is running a VERY well established version of GB, so we stand nothing to gain there
2) The hardware is so different, it is a huge undertaking to make it work (why do people mention the screen size as if it is important? The important thing is native resolution..); again, we have a good working GB.
3) The only thing you might possibly want to get is Sense, but that will be tightly integrated into the framework, again, making it difficult.
Really, there is almost nothing to be gained for the community with such an undertaking.. its not worth giving a second thought to.
No offence taken! Thanks for such a quick response. I should have been more exact in my initial post, but yes, the sense ui is what I am most intrigued about. The view that I used had a form of sense that seemed uniquely tailored to the tablet form factor. Also, I only mentioned the size because, as a tablet, at 7" it too does not have HC and all of the compatibility issues that come with it.
Thanks again for the response.

If any of you have seen the inFini Sense thread, then you know that this kind of stuff is really hard. The main problem: All parts of HTC Sense on the View look for a 3G/4G radio. Hmm... the Nook doesn't have that, right?
Edit: That said, it doesn't stop me from trying to port it.
Hello,
There are versions of both the view and flyer that don't have 3g/4g and only have wifi. The resoultion of both is 1024x600 on a 7" screen. The only problem I can see is the kernel and ramdisk, to have the rom boot. Correct me if I am wrong.

I had started to port the Wifi only Flyer ROM a few months back but got busy with school and work and never got around to it. I've got 2 weeks off between the summer semester and the fall semester, though, so with 40-50 hours of work and a wife that I want to spend time with, I probably won't get around to it, either. But of what I did get, there were some major kernel problems that needed to be worked on. Sense requires certain things in the kernel that I just didn't have time to figure out.
As a side note: The Tablet Sense rom is HUGE! Like MASSIVE. Like require 1GB of dedicated SD storage for it (before debloating it.)

im sure if any of you all were to get a Evo View or the Flyer ROM working on the NC then there would be a nice following. I mentioned it in other threads when people was talking about it and didn't get a very nice response. Ive been modding WinMo phones for a very long time but just have been getting into modifying a NC because i wanted a tablet but didn't want to spend all that money on one. Especially since once you start flashing ROM s they are very addictive. Also if a new tablet comes out i like to say i have that same setup on mine basically without unloading the bank acct.

I've got an HTC Evo and a Nook Color running CM7. You can get a similar feel to Sense by installing the ADW EX launcher and Fancy Widgets on your Nook. My Evo has 7 home screens, while my Nook has only 5, but it's still quite nice. And ADW has some attractiuve transition effects when you flip between home screens. Bumping the CPU to 1.2 Ghz helps, but it's usable even at stock speed.
Are they talking bout the total rom capacity or just the /system partition.
For example on my G2 for internal storage the break down of the 2GB (which is not re-partitionable, sizes locked in):
system 409 MB
data 1309MB
cache 201MB
So if they're saying 512MB ROM are they talking strictly about /system, and if so does that likely count out the G2/Vision from the chance of an official rom.
It's not listed here : http://www.htc.com/www/help/android4faq/?cid=android4blog

As far as I can tell the only real difference between a Desire-Z and G2 is the radio bands available to it, FM Radio, and keyboard layout, but everything else is identical.

No, the difference extends to memory. That's why you need a Desire Z HBOOT in order to use Sense ROMs on a G2.

Though you can put a DZ HBoot on a G2 right? in which case if they did release an official Rom for DZ you would just require the Hboot for that extra 120MB of /system memory.
So the question would extend to that, does that mean with a Desire Z having 535MB of /system, that ICS in theory would be supported by HTC in the official sense.

this is what i would assume as well. turns out htc did say ROM, i know strange as they could simply make a new hboot that partitions how large ROM would be on our phones. dont have the link at hand but they clearly are saying ROM - so i have no answer to why they wont update the g2/dz... stupidity? pure evil?

Ram was the original assumption til I seen many corrections to Rom. And as you said flashing a G2 with a DZ hboot would put you at about 549MB /system partition and larger 300M /cache, so if the system size of 512M min were the requirement you'd think that the HTC labeled DZ would at the very least qualify.
But far as why, probably doesn't have a large enough user base, and the device is old enough to not support without pissing off too many folks and probably aiming at making more profit by only offering official ICS to newer devices (or more popular models).
I only care for what an official ICS release from HTC/Quallicom(sp) would give to rom/kernel creators for our devices.
Ppl, it's RAM, not ROM. ROM, it's an operating system. HTC made a mistake. Again.

Though in their announcement did they actually say "must have 512MB 'usable'" ?
Makes more sense that they would be talking about total, as some of that 512 is used by the system.
Doesnt matter what that HTC idiot replied, in your other thread. Its a RAM issue, its always been. If you notice, more than 90% of the phones reciving a ICS update, have more than 512MB of RAM.
BTW, if i was HTC, I wouldnt release a update for ICS. I want to make money off new devices.

Well that much is obvious lol. Though how many actual people would avoid going to a new phone just because you can root it and get JB/ICS on it... (though some of us are already running ICS, mainly having the source will likely aid towards JB roms), I honestly don't think the number is quite that big, but time is of course money, and why spend money on a no-return task.
