much happier after factory resetting 3.1 - Eee Pad Transformer General

After the 3.1 update, things were OK but not quite right. gmail wasn't notifying me of new messages and things were kind of sluggish. I did a factory reset and everything seems much more smooth and I have no problems. It didn't take me long to set everything back up either, since all my apps reinstalled themselves. Just realize you'll lose any settings / data in each app.
I can now more fully appreciate the benefits of 3.1

3.1 works so much better for me that 3.01 did.

Any random reboot issues on 3.1?

I was having a number of nagging little issues right after the 3.1 update, and mine has been much better as well after a factory reset. Just thought I'd toss my hat in the ring...

Same experience here. I plan to reset after each major update.

after i rooted with primeordial to 3.1 i was having wierd issues like sometimes my screen would flicker really quickly, or even some random reboots, i did a factory reset and i havnt had a singe problem. I would say its a good idea to do one if you have some flaky issues like that.

ya mine was so sluggish before resetting it! now im really happy with it. still a lil laggy but waaaaayyy better!

Nope

not to be a downer, but I wonder if the hard resetting is faster only because the accumulated trash files were cleared out, just like reinstalling a Windows OS would be faster but only for a limited period of time before trash files become accumulated again.

Exactly. I doubt OP will be pleased after a couple of weeks.
Sent from my badass Asus Transformer.

how about the volume level after factory reset? Is it still low or does it goes back to pre 3.1 levels. Movies are unwatchable in plane, volume is too low.

What are you saying? I haven't done any factory reset after countless reinstallation and I'm STILL pleased...

I always do a factory reset after any OTA.
Say, did anyone notice the lock screen animation is MUCH smoother after updating to 3.1? It was really jerky on 3.0.1.

If this is the 2nd update, then yes I am noticing some lag. Especially when doing things like you mention which totally frustrates me 'cause it was these types of activities that got so much better with the 3.1 upgrade... at least for me. Smoother swipes between home screen, moving widgets and a few others... sigh
Oh well, just hoping 3.2 will fix these. Asus is getting it this week, please Acer keep up with the Jones on this stuff!
Mine got it a few days ago. During the 2nd reboot, it was stuck with the screen backlight on, but nothing showing up. I had to force it off, then back on. I did get the "update was successful" message after unlocking it. Since then, it seems to be a little slower, especially with screen draws. It still plays videos fine, but the more apps I have open, the slower it changes screens, for example.
I noticed mine was laggy after the update... I thought maybe I installed something that was eating up the CPU, but I think it was probably the update that did it.
It's not horrible, just annoying.
Me too I have been some FC with launcher in addition to the laggyness.

I've had some lagginess, but only after I installed several apps. Skype was one that kept running, so I uninstalled it. Not sure what happened, but I only noticed lag after a few days of running and installing several apps, so I'm having trouble pinning it down.
I just went and backed up my apps with TB and factory reset and restored my apps back and no more lag

ICS, one word - disappointing

The firmware have lags and very slow sometimes,
Bluetooth mouse doesn't work, there is alot of good things (the browser is awesome)
But I expected from Asus to release a stable firmware

I suggest doing a factory reset after upgrading. ICS was abysmal for me until I did the reset. Now it runs very smoothly.

Lol...have you not used it on another devise¿.... I am not even going to update..To many little bugs...to many apps not supported.... The craziness for it is beyond me. ...
Having used ICS for all of an hour I have to say that my tablet might have finally taken over my laptop for most used device. ICS on the Transformer makes this device fly like it was slathered in butter and shot out of a cannon.

For me it runs like a beast (US build) . Its by far faster than I expected after trying out paulbortons build (which will probably see great improvements now that the official update is here). There's no input lag, touchscreen is very responsive, apps open fast (on the second run. You need to let them initialize on the first run) and screen transitions are snappy and without any lag.
I am going to try now to wipe and install all from stretch
I hope its will help
I LOVE ICS! The Chrome Beta browser is awesome, the design very crisp and overall very snappy. Only Google+ keeps crashing and since it's built into the system I just disabled it... I will see over time what works/doesn't work.

I have no problems with ICS..How about you?

Not bragging, just a contrast. Also not trying to advocate. But, that said, i did an earnest Ota update, getting great results. No force closes, the few quirks that it has are no worse or more noticeable than any other ROM, screen flicker, touch errors etc, i don't expect everything to be perfect ( it is a man made device, nothing is perfect) but it is greatly improved.
ICS made the device responsive and customizable enough to forgive the dead pixels and the dust under my camera's lens. Happy with my decision to buy a tf101 instead of the 201.
Same. I am not getting my panties wet over ICS but I have no complaints.
No screen tearing/flickering, no battery drain, no force closes, no random reboots.
It's literally just as stable as it was before ICS.
I did do a factory reset before flashing the rooted ICS rom with CWM.
However, I did notice some lag and screen flickering immediately after upgrading.
Did a cold reboot and that seems to have fixed it.
Same with me. No problems with ICS. Everything just so so much better. Very very fast and smooth. I formatted the system in CWM as well as all the usual wipes (cache, dalvik etc) before I installed and that was almost two days ago now.
No issues. ICS rocks! The chrome browser is awesome also I must say. Its my default browser already even in beta.

love ICS, installation was smoth, everything works OK,
But I got two random reboots in two days - this is a mayor issue that hope will be fixed asap.
Happy overall.
+1... no problems here either ..
My TF has improved by at least a 100% from HC! .. and its not even custom roms yet! ..
couldn't be happier ...
everything is ok until now
Little pointless treahd but no i haven't had any problem with the OS it self.
No major issues
Well everything seems to be fast n responsive to me. Battery life has also noticeably improved. Was initially disappointed with stock browser and Chrome, but ICS Browser + solved the issue. Encountered a couple of FC's for Asus Task Manager, but otherwise is very good. Overall pretty happy camper here
I am satisfied with ICS, it was the main reason I got the TF101 2 weeks ago: I bought it in an offer from local Amazon with the intention of returning it in 30 days if ICS is not out or if the things promissed with it were not real, BUT:
I went with the full CWM update, no issues, no FC, no random reboots, no unusual battery drain, for now the only 2 problems seems to be a rare screen flicker once in a while (mostly occurring when trying Live wallpaper), and the non-working USB, but I don't care as I don't use it: I sync the files I need with a NAS storage and "ES File Manager". There is a zip that fix it, but I don't need it for now, waiting for revolver 4.
in general, I am 90% satisfied with ICS, while with HC I was less than 50% satisfied.
Update:
USB fixed, 91% satisfied now.
With ICS the Transformer is working like it shold have when its released. Im so happy that the "beta times" with Honeycomb are over.
Flashed the full stock Asus package via CWM with full wipe and had no reboots, flickering or FCs.
Best OS that my Transformer has ever seen.

No problems here... No reboots, no other quirks... I did an official ICS update and then rooted and Cwm... I have believe that is the crucial difference between those having problems and those not.
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk
Am I allowed to post?
I have a couple of issues but I trust ASUS to issue further updates to handle them.
The last Honeycomb update seemed to cause some extra random hanging so I am glad to be off that.
Today I noticed one of my apps was hanging due to an unsupported operation exception. Bit annoying but the browser improvements alone are worth a temp problem in one or two apps.
For me its great. Much faster.
Hi guys , for me everything is fine except the sound ! The sound is lower than HC particularly in Skype, youtube, video etc. Notifications and games sound is good.
Has anyone similar problem ?
Big time sound loss!

Disagree with this post, as the threads have been a nonstop ***** and moan season for some on their problems.
This is a useful thread as if enough people write up in it that they have had little or no problems with the upgrade from the main ROMs used,
Then the Minority that do have problems can be rest assured that usually with the right advice... They can get a clean stable OS going..
+ 1 on mine.. No major problems.. If anything I am experiencing better picture/screen resolution..
Don't know why but it looks sharper and depth of color is a little better..
Tapatalk was grainy on the white background.. Now it's sharp..
Just streamed a 720 mkv off the LAN share and didn't miss a beat in MXplayer either.
-1 sound through speakers is lower.. But I am sure a fix well be presented shortly..

I believe this is key. I completely wiped and started from .13 and upgraded 3 times. Restored some apps with TB and all is well. Had 1 reboot but that was probably my fault.

I have found that Asus has put the governor modules to go from interactive when on to conservative when in deep sleep. This is what is causing the random DS issues. Reinstalled SetCPU and put governor to interactive to overuse Asus module and all is well.

Unresponsive/rebooting tab

Soo ever since friday my tab has been going wild..
Itll just randomly become unresponsive and then reboot.
It started once i hooked it up to charge on a ferry... which makes me worry. however, i do have chrome on it. I figured after it came out of beta itd be fine, and its run fairly well up until recently.
Im stock rooted, running latest ota. Locked boot loader... though I tried to unlock before, but since im a c4okct there was a time where my sn wasnt recorded, and that's when I attempted to unlock.
Now, im worried that my tab is possibly fried, and im stuck without warrenty.
Does anyone have any ideas either way?
Thank you in advance and sorry for the rambling, i just tried to cover all the bases.
Ps - isnt ics supposed to be built off 3.0 kernel? I just noticed that this tab apparently is built on 2.6

When I reset my tab it at first works well. Then as it goes on it just goes to hell. Its main problem is graphicly demanding things, like gmail animations make it crash, and so does Google Music. Google Play store also is pretty laggish (I notice a trend with google products). I want to unlock it and install CM to see if it fixes anything, but I'm worried about losing warranty. Any thoughts?

Tried reset but still have the issue. The power off icon randomly pops up and then it reboots. 3 times today so far. Followed the guide in this thread and hope it's fixed with updated firmware. Regret buying now, dull screen with horrible bleed, poor io performance, and reboots make it super unreliable.

Huawei Mediapad 3 app loading & downloading of apps extremely slow

I purchased my Mediapad 3 in October. I don't have the lte version, just wifi. Initially, I was extremely happy with this tablet. Very speedy, great screen. Loved it. After about 3 weeks, it became very slow. Apps were slow to load, especially NYTimes app and browser pages (using Chrome) also were painfully slow to load. I tried clearing cache & memory to no avail. Finally did a hard reset and everything was great again, for about 2 weeks. I have now been through this several times. The only thing that seems to work is a hard reset. Does anyone have any ideas how I can prevent this slowdown? I am not willing to hard reset forever so need to get a new tablet if this isn't fixable.

Only thing I can tell you is that it sounds like an app is causing this. When factory resetting the tablet only load a few apps at a time and wait. When it starts slowing you can see what app is the culprit.
I have had my tablet since spring of 2017 and have not had this problem.

Have you tried disabling some of the Huawei apps, at least the ones it will let you? It could be one of theirs going rogue. Also, not sure if a kernel could cause this issue if it didn't update/install correctly. I'm not sure if on a factory reset if it rewrites/reinstalls the kernel.
