im kind of a noob when it comes to all this but ive been searching all over the web and it doesnt seem like anyone has a tutorial for this.
id like to change the stock browsers homepage and/or bookmarks and have them stick after a master rester..
ive searched the whole browser.apk and cant seem to find a way to do that.
any help would be much appreciated!
You could save it the way you want then use adb to pull the apk in its current state and it should save the preferences, I think
Sent from my HTC Glacier
tried that and hasnt worked, also tried to push the browser_preferences.xml file with the homepage set to whatever i want it to data/data/.. but after i hard reset its gone again.
EDIT: im pretty sure theres some xml file that i need to edit and cant seem to find.

Oops. Can anyone help please.
After installing opera 9.5 beta, I realised that it hijacked html files and stopped PIE from loading them. Since I couldnt uninstall the opera, I removed the files and registry entries.
But no matter what I try to do, PIE wont load html files I have stored.
It connects to the web without trouble
Does anyone know how to fix this, or have I messed up.
Thanks
Option 1: Hard Reset
Option 2: Use Total Commander and long click on an HTML file to get Properties, then navigate to the associate tab
Other Options: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=252799
I tried the associate using tc and resco but it makes no difference.
Is there a way to re-install just the pie?

not trying to be smart, but i believe a hard-reset is the only way to reinstall PIE.
What a pain.
If it helps anyone out there, IEP looks like its in an infinite loop when trying to load a local html file.

I had same Problem. It has been resolved
In registry I changed the file association for "html" exactly as follows: iexplorer.exe file:%1
I have lost the ability to open opera mini 5 with all my bookmarks saved - Out of the blue I get a error saying "The file opera mini 5wm armv4 cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found....."
I can still access all the files the program contains on the computer as well as on the phone itself. Its only when I click on the icon to start opera do I get this message. I am sure that the bookmarks are contained in one of those files so even if I had to copy it and past it into a new copy of the program. I just don't know where to find them and how to do it.
I have grown used to just copying the folder from my computer with Opera mini instead of reinstalling the cab each time I did a hard reset. I realized I could just copy and past the shortcut and opera mini would be back like always with all my bookmarks etc. I never bothered to use opera link to save my bookmarks.
I tried a hard reset, tried recopying the file from my computer, and even tried to load it on a different touch pro 2 that I have lying around. I still get the same message. I have seen some posts about not this particularly but generally about this errror message. The solutions seemed complicated involving editing certain codes and seemed a little beyond my reach (though if that is my only choice I will try) Has anyone had this issue and can anyone help me. I have bookmarks that go back a while and it would be a shame to have to start all over.
Thanks
Steve

I guess you installed it on memory card, and that's how you tried to run it on the other device... If you have modified Opera Mini executable (OperaMini5-WM-armv4.exe), as you obviously did, it won't be able to run anymore until you reinstall it. Go to m.opera.com, download and install.
Nothing too complicated, just uninstall original one and delete all it's files before installing it again.

and then
I appreciate the attempt to help but thats not the problem it has to do with a certificate. I can reinstall off the cab but I wont have my bookmarks though I will give that a try.
thanks

Hi guys,
Firstly, apologies if this topic has been answered before, I wasn't able to find much on here. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to have desaturated versions of icons that I have on the phone and was able to extract them onto my PC and change them. The problem was getting them back on the phone, I tried a few methods that didn't seem to work and in the end had to resort to using APK Icon Editor to replace and pack the file without issue. Is there not a location folder on the phone that I can send icons to that will be picked up by launchers or is the method I used the only way?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
You have to decompile it and re compile it sometimes it need to be signed with the same signature use tickle my android or if you want do it with this app I found in the play store
