My bravo is recovery by RSD lite version 5.0 and 2.2.1 SBF
Thank a lot for your advice
were you able to fix it?
I cannot get my phone past the initial Motorola screen either. I rooted and flashed bandroidx's rom. When I wipe and recover still nothing.
I downloaded RSDlite version 5.0, hooked up the usb, but it did not recognize it. Is there any hope or do I now own a brick?
Thanks for any and all help!
Oh and when I get to the recovery screen I get this:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
at the bottom of the screen.
Make sure you press and hold the volume up, not down, when turning on the phone. This will bring you to the correct screen to sbf your phone

Managed to get my Droid 2 to a point where it will not go beyond the M screen on boot. I've tried pulling the battery over and over again and cannot get to the Clockwork bootstrap. I've also tried plugging it in and pulling the battery many, many times.
So I figure the next best step is to .sbf this mofo.
I've downloaded & installed rdslite, the USB drivers. Also have the Droid 2 .sbf files. Droid.Co_Downloader.exe pulled down RSD Lite v4.8 though rather than 4.7. And the link to 4.7 is now showing as invalid. Will 4.8 work for what I'm trying to do?
Also, when I plug in my phone RSD Lite never shows anything in the devices table. What are the steps to get my phone to show up? Plug in phone, power on, turn on RDS Lite? The tutorial seemed to be aimed at people who still have working phones in that it has you adjusting setting on the phone i.e. enable debug mode.
Sidenote, I know debug mode is disabled on my phone. Does that mean RSD Lite isn't going to work?
Help!
I think if you pull and replace the battery at the M it should reboot into recovery, and if it won't do that you can always try sliding out the keyboard and booting the phone while holding the X key to see if it will dump you into the stock recovery
Ok, some more reading uncovered hitting the physical keyboard's Up arrow and powering on will take the phone to the Bootloader and once in the bootloader my pc recognized it.
And then RSD Lite showed my device in the table but it didn't show up as the A955 it was Model "S Flash OMAP3630 MI".
Currently flashing DROID2_X6_2.2.20 .sbf, hopefully that pans out.
Thanks, I tried the battery pull thing A LOT of times. Never went into bootstrap. Not sure what's going on there.
I tried the stock recovery but got the Android-exclaimation mark icon which I presume means the stock recovery was F-ed up.
Really hope this sbf recovery works.
Ok, disaster averted.
Looks like rebooting into the bootloader was the secret. Hope that is helpful to someone else who's bricked their phone.
BTW, used RSD Lite version 4.8 and that worked with my Droid 2.

Glad you got it working! For future reference if you want the stock recovery, after you hold x and get to the exlamation point, press the search key on the keyboard. (The little magnifying glass) and it should take right Into it.

Me too!
Search key? Good to know. Man, that could have saved me quite a bit of time I think.
So now that I've restored everyting I'm going to risk it all and install the fission rom again.
It's less intimidating now that I know how to sbf restore. Hopefully I won't need to this go round.
Just follow the instructions as they are laid out and you shouldn't run into much trouble. Also, be sure to let the device sit for a bit after you reboot from clockwork, as it could take a good 15 minutes before it fully boots up the first time, and interrupting that could put you back at square one
Could you add [SOLVED] to your thread title please. Thanks
Hello. Well to start off I had recently rooted my Droid2 which was running the OTA GB. So I started looking for roms like I use to with froyo and the leaked GB. Was looking for something to change the battery life frame poor to great. Anyway I came upon Cyanogenmod's Rom for Droid 2 For the ota gb. I made a nandroid back up, downloaded it and was ready to flash. Seconds away in boot recovery and while i was looking for the file before I think I hit "apply update" instead of "search for zip file on scdard(or what ever sentence it says) and i got it but it started loading an update. I was like wtf kinda freaked out and I did a battery pull . Now my phone stays at the M boot logo and i have no way to go back. I heard the SBF for GB ota isnt her yet . if anyone can help I would be grateful. Plz Help
Things I've tried/
1.Battery Pull.
2.Hold power button + hold X(doesnt work like froyo Poo)
3.Tried going back with rsdlite 5.3.1 with moto drivers(it won't show my device ;'( )
4.Left this message on xdadev / please help

I just tried this on my friend's D2 (I am very experienced with the inc), and I seem to be having the same problem. I have tried Sbfing, but RSDlite will not recognize the phone. I have booted to recovery, nothing (Stock recovery), and the bootloader (Says too little charge)
What can I do?
Charge your battery in another phone like yours. Borrow someones spare battery. Take battery to verizon store and see if they can charge it somehow. There is a thread on here somewhere on how to do a hack job on your cable and hook the wires directly to your battery and charge it independent of the phone. I can't post a link so I hope you can find it by searching.

I've had this problem 4 times in the last week. I used a terminal based OS to SBF using ADB.

The steps are on the CMWiki.

and i wanted to go back to my Nandroid back up, but when i turn it on its stuck at the google logo, i cant get back into customr recovery, only stock reccovery , and when i press volume up and power button and i get this debugging screen and it ask me to connnect to the computer, i dont knwo what to do if anyone could give me a complete detailed guide to fix this id be like your servent, it was a birthday present from my grandma and shes in the hospital now , i just want to fix this so bad iv read all the forums but when i download RSD lite i cant open it .and install it on my computer. please im a noob that needs help . :'(
First you need to get the sbf file according to your region.
Get it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
Next follow this guide and flash the sbf:
http://motoroladefy.com/index.php?/topic/264-using-rsd-lite/
In the end, restore your stock nandroid backup and you're done!
Hope you fix it!

Hey All,
I'm sick and tired of flashing SBFs to my Defy. I made a mistake and didn't flash the CM7 kernel after flashing CM10 and Gapps and now it's doing the 'blank screen unless you flash a SBF in RSDlite' nonsense. I've flashed a million SBFs, none of them work. I cannot get anywhere except the bootloader mode with the blank screen. The battery is charged, etc.
If someone has a step or two I can try, I'm game; but if no one can help, Imma shoot it (or ship it to someone if they want it).
Thanks dudes.
I hate motorola.
Use this chinese, it will work no matter what.

Unless you really want to ship it to me, then I'm game. I need a new defy cause mine is kinda busted. The earpiece doesnt work and the lighted buttons at the bottom dont work too well, I had to install CM10 for on screen navigation. I can provide the shipping address for you and stuff.
It really doesn't boot to the bootlogo or bootanimation? Have you tried entering stock recovery and wiping data and cache? That's a must for a stock ROM to work after using a custom one... Get your battery out; hold volume down + power button and insert the battery while holding; keep holding and it should enter stock recovery after a couple of seconds at the red M splash screen. Then press both volume keys at the same time for the menu to show up!

He's right.
I don't know how many times that Chinese SBF got me unbricked. Always did the trick for me.
The only thing is: you'll be stucked with BL7 forever.
But that doesn't prevent you from using other Custom ROMs, just from using the usual SBF files provided by other carriers.
If you'r willing to try, here's a step-by-step guide:

Alright, so I flashed the file, but I have the same issue. The phone does not do anything with any type of button combination, however if I plug it into a computer, I can flash a file to it and the screen shows the progress. That's all I can get to show on the screen at all. I have 2 batteries of good condition and an external battery charger.
Any ideas?

Flash the chinese SBF in RSD lite, the progress bar (on your PC) should count to 100% twice. It will then reboot your phone for you.
Do not unplug your phone before RSD lite says finished.. And yes, wiping in stock recovery is a must.
Don't lose hope on your defy, it is almost impossible to brick

Thanks for your replies guys. Ya, I did this and it says PASS but when it says that it's rebooting the phone, it never does. I can't get into the stock recovery to wipe anything Any more ideas? Perhaps I'm holding the wrong buttons?

Try doing this:
- once the SBF is flashed, wait for RSD Lite to finish its work
- if it says "Restart the phone manually" remove the battery and unplug the phone
- put the battery back in
- press and hold power and vol- buttons for a few seconds
- release the power button, but keep vol- button pressed
- if it shows a sign with Android guy and a ! in a triangle, release vol- button and press both vol+ and vol- buttons at the same time
- if nothing changes, press the screen at the bottom right corner (just above the magnifying glass, i.e. regular search button)
This should bring up stock recovery from which you should be able to wipe data/cache. This screen should be available by default, but sometimes it's hidden. After wiping the stuff, simply reboot the phone from the recovery.
I hope this helps.
Welp, I'm having some issues with my own Defy as well. So, yesterday I flashed that Chinese SBF. And now I can say that the steps from my previous reply won't work.
My wrong. This method does work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956
Even though I didn't have an access to stock recovery and didn't wipe everything, the SBF loaded just fine, as well as the second (rooted one). Try that method, andjohn.
However, this didn't solve my problem with the camera, unfortunately, so I'm off to my thread.

Probably you are trying to flash an earlier BL version than what is already flashed.
So you probably need to try a BL7 SBF.
If you give up on your Defy give me a price to ship it to Australia. I might take it off your hands.

Hi,
1. I rooted my phone successfully.
2. I installed droid2recovery.apk
3. Restarted. Installed CM10 and Gaaps (wrong version)
4. Reboot. Everything was normal with some annoyances due to the wrong version of Gaaps.
5. Checked and the phone was already rooted in CM10. Installed droid2recovery.apk again. Reboot.
6. Trapped in bootloop.
7. Reboot and enter in system recover.
8. Tried to install CM10 and correct Gaaps. Not possible due to failed to verify whole-file signature.
9. Discover that official recover mode doesn't install unofficial roms.
10. Searched for official roms of Milestone 2 BR. All links are broken.
11. I flashed downgrade_for_bl_3 with RSD Lite. Everything was ok. PASS.
12. Still bootloop. Enter in recover mode. Black screen. Can't see the android icon with exclamation mark.
Is my phone a paper holder now? Please advise.
I'm really without luck today.
I manage to flash a SBF with Android 2.3.6, exactly like the one I had. But then I couldn't root, not with the same method I rooted mine, not with any other method.
Then I downloaded another SBF and used RSD Lite to flash it, and the phone completely died. RSD reported everything OK, PASS, Finished, perfect.
Now nothing happens. The phone is off, black screen. Completely dead. But if I hit Power + Vol - + Camera, the computer recognize. But nothing on the screen. I'm re-flashing the same SBF again.
Why different thing happen when I proceed the same way as I did in the past?
Why can't I just flash a recover boot that accepts direct installation of Cyanogen Mod 10???

You have to flash that same Android 2.3.6 SBF file, you can't use any more that "another sbf". For rooting that 2.3.6 use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750277

After you get CM10 back running, do not use droid2recovery.apk anymore!

Because you already have recovery and you don't need it... doing this you can destroy something (maybe 2-init or 2-boot), and you will need to recover your phone using RSD Lite.

Hi Douglas, did you get the milestone working again? I'm stucked with the same problem, the rsdlite recognize my cellphone I can flash it but the screen is black. Anything works
How do you fix it?
You can still flash other sbfs, but when do turn on, you need to go in recovery mode, than clear cache and data. It will start normally again.
To go to stock recovery hold when turn on "@" or "x", than when show the "android with ! " you hold volume - and foto or volume + and foto or the volume + and -, than you are in recovery.
Sorry about my English
I am showing all the option because I do not remember perfect what to do... But it works

boot into stock recovery and do a full wipe. This will solve your problem.
Press Power and x (on your Hardwarekeyboard) for several seconds. Release the buttons and you will see a yellow triangle with an exclamationmark in it. Now press vol up and down key together. voilla you got it

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. I was charging the battery
No, the problem is not the battery. Nothing works anymore. The phone doesn't even turn ON. All Black screen, not even boot loop.
So I get into the bootloader and flash new room. I can see the SN Updated text. But that is it. After it doesn't work.
I flashed DOWNGRADE BL =3 and then I flashed MILA2_U6_3.12.0_SIGNED_US1MILESTONE2PERARB125LA016.0R_GSXMILETPERARLA_P022_A013_M006_HWp2a_WIG142538_Service1FF
Nothing. Black Screen.
Then I flash M2L_U6_4.5.2_51-27_R01_SIGNED_US1MILA2GBPERARB125LA001.0R_STABLE45LAMILETPERLA_P013_A028_M001_HWp2a_Service1FF.
Then I get boot loop.
:S
