Would like to recruit new dev to atrix - Atrix 4G General

Hey guys. I might be coming across a brand new Atrix, still in the box. I'll be getting it for around $650. Are there any devs that we should try to recruit from any other moto phones? I know we have some very talented devs already but they can't do everything themselves. They are busy people with lives. We need to just let them work. I just figured another dev would help take the pressure off of them a little bit. The only problem is, I can't afford the phone on my own. I would still need help from the community to purchase it. Any extra donations would would be split up between the current devs we have now. The only thing the phone doesn't have is a charger and the HDMI cable has been opened. Everything else is brand new.
What I would like to do is have everyone say who we should recruit and how much they would donate. I will talk to the particular dev and see if they are up for it. I don't want any donations actually sent unless we get enough to buy it and actually get a dev to accept. I'm asking for suggestions on the dev because this is my first android and I don't know the devs too well. Not to mention, everyone who donates should have a say.
Right now I have $50USD towards it.
If you think this is stupid, dumb or a waste of time please do not post. This is just something I thought might help our community. It is not meant to start any trolling or flaming. So please save the space and don't post.

I wouldn't buy that new in box atrix.. (without charger? Isn't that in the box?) For$ 650... price just came down.. goto an att store and buy a new one WITH the charger and all for alot less.. off contract.

i got mine lnib about 2 months ago for 375 ... so if ur getting it for 650... im dead sure ur getting ripped hard!... might want to find a better deal

Atrix 4G @ AT&T now $449.99 no commitment

Try harassing @kmods, off cyanogen, he's just got a defy to make it a fully cm supported phone.

Sorry. Didnt realize the price just went down. The charger is gone because he bought the phone and didnt use it because of the locked bootloader and he took the charger out to use it with another phone.

We should try to recruit "bigrush" from the Xoom community

The only problem I was thinking about with trying to get devs from the xoom is that it has an unlocked bootloader. That may mean they won't be able to do as much. Not 100% sure though.

Farewell, Atrix Community!

Howdy, Guys.
Well, my digitizer broke, started getting really really finnicky, at first I thought it was just CM9 touch drivers. But yesterday, I noticed it had a huge dead spot, and touch test confirmed. I found a deal on a Lumia 900 on Craigslist, and will be using this for the next 5 months until my upgrade.
I've never been a part of such a devoted and active community on XDA. I thank you all for all your help, and I'm glad to have been able to contribute in whatever ways I could. I look forward to working with some of you again, maybe we'll see an Atrix 3 together.
Thanks for everything, and Good Luck
-Peter
Adios buddy.
The 900 is a cool phone. Battery life is sucky, but the UI is the best part about the phone.

Good luck with WP
EBay the digitizer. I found a "used" one for $30
Worth it when you have a dead spot like I did.

Farewell and good luck with your new phone !
No need for another thread on same topic...
Well Guys & Gals, it's been fun on the Atrix Forums... been here since March of last year, and saw all the milestones for this device. But the time has come to move on to a newer phone.
My Galaxy S3 will be arriving tomorrow. So while I may not be as involved on a day to day basis as I have in the past, I'll still be around. And I'm still the forum moderator, so don't go thinking your gonna get away with anything.
See ya around,

Well guys, I really only had an atrix for about a month (baught it at amazon for 220 but I sold it for 350) lol. You gotta love XDA and all the devs out there who can make something that is suppose to be fast be fast AKA CM7.
I really was hoping ICS version stable, would have been made while using this phone.
Oh Well, hey you guys and gals, take care and as we say in Germany Tschuess!
Sad to see you guys go. I'm tempted by the GS3 but it's not quite what I want still. I think I'll keep rocking the Atrix for another month and see what happens. And possibly save some green on the upgrade if I decide to go GS3 anyway.

I'm leaving too, gsm galaxy nexus from the play store
Wife will use my upgrade for whatever she decides on
I'd like to thank all of you who are active here and stayed active through thick and thin
Most especially the leaker of the unlocked boot loader file then the devs who brought us more than enough great roms to make me really love this phone (after blur made me hate it) I'll still keep my Atrix so I can still try out what you all come up with.
Unfortunately, I have upgraded my phone as well to the Galaxy S3. Since money is tight, I am selling my Atrix to pay for the upgrade so Aura is now discontinued officially (I assume most considered it that way already).
It was a fun run and I hope everyone has a wonderful year.
I'm not leaving right away, I'll wait until a next batch of S3's are available before I use my upgrade..
It's been great guys!

While I am on the SGSII right now, I am still excited about a more stable CM9 on the Atrix.
Too many turn offs with me on upgrade options. SGSIII - Micro SIM (and I don't want to go the SIM adapter route) + too large of a screen.
Nexus - refuse to buy until Nexus finally makes a phone with a MicroSD.
HTC - Needs to prove itself in battery life.
Honestly while I am currrntly enjoying the SGSII, I'm STILL going back and forth with my Atrix on CM7.2. Don't know why but I just really love almost everything about the Atrix, and probably will never sell it...

Once you play with it for a few hours it makes the Atrix feel downright tiny and insignificant in screen size, it is crazy. It feels pretty much perfect in size after a short while.
Not to mention that it runs more fluid on the stock rom than any phone I have ever used. Amazing device, I would definitely say go try it out once demo's start showing up in stores. The microSIM isn't so bad, since after using it for a few days I can't use the Atrix anymore. It feels so small and hard to see the screen... which is kinda depressing because I loved the Atrix, only phone I have ever used for my full contract period.

I'm poor, so no S3 for me, but I picked up a refurb skyrocket for $10 as a contract upgrade. My wife's still on an atrix, though, and it does indeed seem small and insignificant after just a few hours w/ the skyrocket. LTE is amazing as well. Faster than my 18mbps uverse. Was a good run.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the support in making the atrix a much better experience then Moto did.
TheBill was great giving us awesome roms even when he did not have an atrix.
My atrix died for the 3rd time and rather then go through the warranty process once again I have decided to wait for the Lumina 920.
Ill be using the Iphone 4 as a temp phone (now I know why i didnt go apple) but am excited to give a whole new operating system a try.
Again thank you to a great community.

Returning my Galaxy SIII (Verizon)

it is with a very sad and heavy heart that i've decided to return my samsung galaxy s3 to Verizon today. it's by far the greatest cellphone i've seen.
i had shattered my Thunderbolt a couple weeks back, and wanting to keep my unlimited data plan, i was more than glad to pay full price for this device. it's really that incredible.
unfortunately, upon receiving the device, i learned of +Verizon Wireless' locking of the bootloader. they were the only carrier to do such. this has soured the taste in my mouth so greatly, that i am forced to send this incredible machine back to Verizon.
a truly sad day to be a geek.

i am, when i preordered the device there was no 'developer version' (and there's yet one to be for sale on Samsung's developer page)
when it goes live, i'll pick up one, though it makes me wonder just how much Android developer support will be on the Verizon model. not too many devs are willing to pay full price, the community is likely to be very small.
Imo your better off sticking around and waiting for Adam Outleter to finish unlocking the bootloader. I doubt too many will be getting the dev gs3. Dont see much point in a developer edition when there wont be much development on it...

Try to refrain from posting in it. Just read and follow along with all the smart guys. Some have already post the "omg you guys are so smart" stuff in there and Adam specifically asked no one to do that. I hope as this link gets out there people can follow the rules.
The locked version will have 10x the dev support Imo. I wouldn't get the dev device. That and you can already flash aosp roms on the locked version using kexec. I think you are making a mistake.

Who cares? If you don't like it ignore it. Simple.
To the op... I feel ya.. In fact so much so I canceled my pre order and switched to tmobile! So happy I did.. I'll save $50/month and have a fully unlocked device. If you aren't tied to a contract still I would consider checking coverage in your area and pricing it out. I knew I would save money but not this much lol.

Story of my Atrix

Well, this is the story of the rise and death of my Atrix.
Bought this wonderful phone on the 6th of August 2011, after reading reviews of it online, for a cheap price of $146 with dock and a 2 year contract.
Lots of exciting moment, especially when the 2.3 update came, and again with the CM9.
However, I had LOTS of issues with the touch screen, and had to send it in for repair 5 times.
Well, all was fine till about 15 days ago, when I dropped my phone, and the digitizer shattered. Well, its fine, I told myself, I'll just buy one from ebay, well, it is easy to install after all.
Yeah, well the item arrived AFTER my warranty was over, but i was like "meh, I won't need it anyway"
Replacing the digitizer was very easy, however, after I replaced it, I realised part of the digitizer was not working =(
Yeah, ****. Well what choice do I have? I sent it to Motorola for repair.
Well, I went there and they were friendly and nice, as usual, but when they scanned my serial number, all hell broke lose.
"Uh, well you phone is out of warranty, including the 3 months grace period"
"Um, yes, well I know that"
"There will be an evaluation charge of $25"
"About how much will it cost?"
"Well, the parts about $150"
"So a total of $175?"
"Uh, yes, would you like to reconsider"
(I would love to, but I can't. My carrier is screwing with me, and I cannot cancel this plan. I am paying $30 for 12GB, and if I renew the plan, it will drop to 2GB. I have no choice but to keep my atrix)
"Um, not really. Just send it in"
Well, two days pass and I was in school when I received a call. (Yeah, I'm a student, still in secondary school actually)
Obviously I can't pick up, so I just let it ring...
Well, I tried to call back, but no one answers. (Dear Motorola, answer your phone PLEASE)
This goes on for a few days, but one day, I was lucky enough to pick up.
A little tired here, its 12.54AM and I have school tomorrow, so I'll cut it short.
In short, after consulting with their managers, Motorola decided they will not fix my atrix. Instead, they will replace it with a BRAND NEW atrix 2
Obviously, I'm chuffed to bits. Is the atrix 2 better? Not really. However, I do really appreciate the service shown here. Is it google at work here?
I have no idea. However, Motorola has just won a loyal customer.
The whole point of this post is simple.
1. Motorola, please don't allow flaws like the Atrix digitizer and wifi+bluetooth to get pass QC
2. Motorola, please pick up your phones. You are a phone company. Doesn't reflect well if your phones are useless
3. Motorola, thanks for being such a good company. You are really setting a good example here. I cannot describe how much I really appreciate your efforts here.
4. Goodbye Atrix forum. You all have been really nice, and I am sure this phone will continue to exceed your expectations, and I am sad I won't be here to witness this.
Lucky American.
Why no one is ready to pick up my Atrix and swap it with anything non-nVidia crap based?
They're seriously allowed to do that? Replace your phone with a completely different one that's largely accepted as being worse?

nVidia makes all of their SoCs closed-source. It shouldn't matter if you run stock, but it makes it makes it much harder for devs to work their magic.

Should I continue work on Razrdockmod?

Hey Guys, a while back I started work on this mod for the lapdock. Razrdock Mod. Well life happens so I forgot about it and lost track of the lapdock. (I think I either sold it, or gave it as a gift, dunno thou) Now. Should I continue work on it, or let it die? If theres enough interest then I'll continue, if not then forget it lol...
*Might need donations to get a new lapdock, maybe-maybe not*

Should i buy this??? Trying not to waste my invite.

Hey all, I just got my OPO invite and ive already activated the link. However im not sure if i should buy it because i already bought the M8, but i dont want to waste my invite. Also, i heard a few bad things about this phone like customer service sucks and gets bad connection. But, If i do buy it, i can always play with it, sell it and hand out my invites here. What do you guys think?
I am coming from a Nexus 5 and I can say it is as stable as my 5 and I enjoy the bigger screen size. So for me I would say yes.
Pull the trigger on it. If you really don't like it you can sell it on swappa and get your money back. Win win...

You have to keep in mind that the people who are not happy with their purchase tend to be more vocal than those who have nothing to complain about with their phone. The numbers of people who don't complain? Can't say... but they're out there.
I'd say make the purchase and conclude your own idea of the phone. If you like modding your phone and whatnot, the OPO won't disappoint in that department.

And if the OP likes the OnePlus One so much.... sell the M8 ... although if its under T Mobile, you should have it financed fully before selling.
Its worth the money. It doesnt get the best signal but that could possibly change with a radio update in the future.
