Why do you care? It's not gonna drain battery anyway.
It probably needs the service to sync with Google Music cloud

Same here...went back to old music app...all is well again.
It is so that new music that you upload from your PC will be available on your phone.

it will drain my batt if it use my Boardband to upload my music. my full charge only last me 12hrs for my usage, i dont want any process now to shorten my timing

Boardband? You only have Google Music if you're invited to the Beta, if you're not in the beta and use the application its not going to upload music.
You can also go into Settings -> Accounts -> Disable Music syncing
Best advice I can give you is to JUST USE your phone. Stop worrying about the battery life, otherwise you're just going to be paranoid for absolutely no reason.

Hey guys I am a fluent user of Tue Xperia and the only bad thing about it is the battery life. I take it off the charger at 5 am and go to school then u get back at about 9 pm and its on 18 percent. How can I make my battery last for two or more days?

i'm at 75% at 8 hours and 30 min
Nice but can u ask you are you using it. Like playing games, YouTube, or anything like this or are you just letting it sit there?
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
games eat battery pretty fast
even with a custom rom that has great battery efficiency i dont think that u can beat that.. if ur gaming for a few hours and youtubeing, calling, etc then the best youu can do is make sure that ur screens brightness isnt too high, and every time u exit an app/game make sure that the program stops ( u could use a task killer but i jus pop a shortcut to manage applicattions on my homescreen and force stop it myself)
with reaallyyy heavy use if u make it to the end of the day ur lucky.. just charge it every night
Lol yeah. I play a lot of 3d games and YouTube whenever I can and I'm always texting so Lol. I guess that's good

O ok. Cuz I'm a heavy user but I suppose if it lasts that long while playing games like gangstar,al avatar, and modern combat it's not so bad lol. But I will definitely give your suggestion a go. I mean what can go wrong

I've got my music beta invite today, but it appears that the Google music app on the Epic force closes now that I have accepted the invite and uploaded a few songs.
Anyone else have this going on?
I'm on the EE03 leak if it matters.

Yeah pretty sure it's been confirmed that it doesn't work on ee03
I don't know about the service or how either part runs on the Epic, but the app, from the Market, runs nicely on an Indulge. So if it runs on the Indulge... it'll run, the app at least, on an Epic.

I got an invite 8 days ago & just barely started uploading my music yesterday night. I've got the app for my Epic running SRF 1.1.1 & it doesn't seem to work. Maybe it might have something to do with the phone's modem? I'm not sure, but I'm only seeing the music on my SD. I checked my settings in the app & it is connected to my account, but it won't display the uploaded music at all. Damn it!

Just leave the app on your phone. Keep trying every couple of hours. It took my phone a while to sync up to my Music account. But once it does, it's pretty quick to update with newly added songs.
Yup. Once it's synced with your account, it'll work fairly well. Im on EE03 and I use google music all the time. especially at the gym with bluetooth headphones. The UI sucks though. And It could use a decent widget...
Google Music works great for me!
Only thing is, I have about 1800 songs and since this is only a beta, I assume it won't last very long.
Kinda sucks in my case, since deleting the songs for space and streaming them for a short period of time wouldn't benefit me because I'd have to add them back later anyway when the beta is done. =\
No Ogg support.
No use from me.

I'll be honest though...the ATT network (at least for me) sucks to stream music.... Takes forever to load in between songs and playback is slow and choppy...I use it all the time on my computer though.
Idk what your talking about AT&T for me is aswome I've had it since 2004 and not one thing I have to complain about always verry snappy quick

I generally don't have too much trouble streaming music on AT&T, as long as I'm in a decent coverage area. I typically stream over Pandora though, as it runs lower quality music so it doesn't suck up so much of my 2GB data plan. I really haven't used Google Music for mobile streaming, but AmazonMP3 streaming kills me - because of the higher quality (and thus higher file size) it's about 100mb to stream through 1 album once. Ouch.
What are you running for a cpu governor and min/max speed settings? Up until recently, I'd get that type of behavior with screen off, due to running Smartass 120/768. I don't know why it has been better for me since about CM7 n150 or so - might be something to look at though. I think cHarley had some similar issues and resolved them by automating his cpu settings based on app usage using tasker.
I didnt like it

I have disabled GPS, and gone into my location access settings and ensured that facebook cannot make use of my GPS, but for some reason the app is taking 71% of my battery. When I click to see more details on the facebook app, I can see that under GPS in "use details" it says 1d 6h 48m (the same time my device has been on for).
If I have disabled GPS, and even force quit Facebook, how can it be taking up so much of my battery?

Also you can use the data usage setting to disable background data by specific apps.
uninstall and never ever go back to Facebook?
that's going to take care of the problem.

I've never had a problem with the facebook app, on my S3 or Nexus7. I can easily get over a full day on both. Twitter too. Have you tried a different app? Like Seemic?
I deleted both my Facebook app and messenger, and I had much better battery life for a few days. Now however, my sot is barely at 2 1/2 hours again, and my top usage is chrome. It's pretty frustrating because I stopped using Facebook altogether, and in still having poor battery. I think chrome is not letting it doze. Any of you guys have had the same issues?

Are you logged into Facebook on chrome and using notifications? What I do is just log into Facebook each time I open chrome and close the page when I leave it through recent apps. If that's not the issue you could try clearing all data for chrome and then clear phone cache.

yeah from what i've read there is no fix. not sure if even a factory reset would fix it.
Some people recommended downgrading to the 2.15 radio which i did last night so i can't say whether it got much better yet or not.
Also, you can still take the updates while rooted. its very simple to do yourself or there is a tool call flashfire which does it for you now i think
