I deleted both my Facebook app and messenger, and I had much better battery life for a few days. Now however, my sot is barely at 2 1/2 hours again, and my top usage is chrome. It's pretty frustrating because I stopped using Facebook altogether, and in still having poor battery. I think chrome is not letting it doze. Any of you guys have had the same issues?

Are you logged into Facebook on chrome and using notifications? What I do is just log into Facebook each time I open chrome and close the page when I leave it through recent apps. If that's not the issue you could try clearing all data for chrome and then clear phone cache.

The phone looks like is entering doze to me. Do you have root? You need to use an app like BetterBatteryStats to properly investigate the cause of your drain.

Yeah I think I'm hit with that bug... I have not found a fix for it, and many articles mention that marshmallow was supposed to fix it... I wonder if a custom rom would fix this... yeah from what i've read there is no fix. not sure if even a factory reset would fix it.
Some people recommended downgrading to the 2.15 radio which i did last night so i can't say whether it got much better yet or not.
Also, you can still take the updates while rooted. its very simple to do yourself or there is a tool call flashfire which does it for you now i think

There is currently not a Facebook app in the market. They haven't optimized it for Honeycomb yet, but you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143913&highlight=kanged and that should work. The only issue I have with it, is that the friends list part force closes.
They must have recently taken it down, thanx for the link tho

Use Friend Me
I use Friendcaster. Lots more options and when you say No Notifications..... it stops polling and giving you notifications. I notices a lift in battery when I uninstalled it. Friendcaster just seems nicer and smoother to me.

I've had that happen with the market a few times too. I normally just back out and go back in until it finally works.

There is actually a Honeycomb/Tablet edition, though in beta...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handmark.friendstream&feature=search_result
Works well for me, and definately less crashes than the native Facebook for Android app...
I've actually gone so far as to uninstall the official Facebook on my Vibrant running CM 7. With the last update on July 18th, for some reason, even if you set it to never poll for notifications, never refresh, and not to sync, it still keeps the news feed open in the background and constantly refreshes it. I noticed huge battery drain one day when I took my phone off of the charger, barely used it all day, and later that night around 11 I had 14 percent battery warning. When I looked into the battery history, Facebook took up a whopping 81 percent of the battery drain on that particular charge.
Will stick to using the 3rd party options.

There are a lot of apps that you won't find in the market because they haven't been optimized for Honeycomb. I normally just install them on my phone, pull the apk, then transfer it to my tab. So far every app I tried worked just fine including fb and google voice.
Friendcaster for Tab seems great to me, but it loads continuously when I select the messages tab, not showing anything... if that'll be solved, and chat will be added, it will be the perfect FB app for me!
PS: anyone solved the messages issue?

Mine does that with messages too, and yes, chat is a must. At least chat works on the Facebook app though. That's about the only good thing about it. While we're on the subject of honeycomb apps and notifications not working; how hard is it for Words With Friends to get notifications to work?! Is it really that difficult? I play a word and THEN it tells me it's my turn.

My Messages tab does that too, as does the Events tab. Very annoying. I really hope a new beta's released soon. I sent the dev a PM about it but haven't heard anything back yet.
Strangely enough, I've seen a walkthrough video of the app (on Android Central I think) which showed them using the Messages and Events tab both working fine.
EDIT: New beta just released fixes the Messages issue, but I still have problems with Events.
I have disabled GPS, and gone into my location access settings and ensured that facebook cannot make use of my GPS, but for some reason the app is taking 71% of my battery. When I click to see more details on the facebook app, I can see that under GPS in "use details" it says 1d 6h 48m (the same time my device has been on for).
If I have disabled GPS, and even force quit Facebook, how can it be taking up so much of my battery?

I'm kind of keeping factory reset as a last resort.Because if I'm going to lose my data I might as well root at that point. And I even Tried updatding to 4.2.2 with the updates of Google search Uninstalled but it didn't work for me.. The drain is too much for me
Even reported it to Google. It's messed up how they let this pass because I've searched a lot and this issue is faced by many people and they have no solution but to Force stop the app or turn off Google Now

Hey guys!
I picked up a 2012 nexus 7 for pretty cheap and I really love this tab. Does everything I would want it to do. However, one thing that's kind of annoying is the Facebook app is super slow... The app itself is responsive but the data loads as if I have a dial up connection. I ran a speed test from it and get 12+ meg...I also have an iPhone and iPad both connected to the same wireless ap and don't have any issues... All other apps seem to be fine as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!!

Hidden apps is limited to 5 from default 10 or 15 = less services for device to handle.. and use_16bpp_alpha=1 forces your device to use 16 bits instead of 32 bits. Try it. Don't like it? Just delete it. Simple.

In the Note 4 forums there was a lot of talk about the FB app and many people recommended Metal as a replacement since FB is problematic, requires an additional app for messaging, and a huge battery drain. I don't use FB but my GF loves Metal.
I'm just disappointed that we can't fully yank all traces of FB off of the carrier phones.
Maybe because the FB app isn't really ready for the newest Android version?
it could be the reason.
