Slow browsing speed - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Im using the default 16gb sd card on my tmous hd2, and webpages load painfully slow for me on wifi. On android however webpages load MUCHH faster although zooming and scrolling isnt as smooth as wp7, but zooming in on wp7 produce a blurry effect. Do you guys have this problem or is the speed the same on both os.

Which is Faster SenseHERO or SenseTATTOO

I was wondering which is faster when running from NAND and from SD, the
SenseHERO or the SenseTATTOO?
I am currently running NFSFAN's newest ROM. I have used an ION build and the SenseHERO build from the SD card. Honestly, the SenseHERO isn't fast enough for me to use on the SD card.
Would the SenseHERO in NAND be faster than an ION build on the SD card? I don't believe that my SD card is a Class 6.
im running SenseHEROv1.4 and its awsome check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg2Bkjj57Pc
i like it alot tell me what ya think!
I dont think you should use the video of the mytouch 3g as a reference to which build is faster. The vogue has half the ram and a different, slower processor.
I'm using the sensehero 1.4 build on my vogue that I flashed to NAND. It is pretty smooth, but on occasion there are delays between touches and response, even in the most simple things like dialing a number. Sometimes it freezes and you have to soft reset it. But it does look great and I'm going to keep using it because both windows mobile and regular android combined can't compare to sensehero in looks.
I also wanted to note that I have never used a tattoo build, so I can't say which one is faster.

I think senseTattoo runs a bit faster, especially if you use the tattoo.user.conf jamezelle posted on the Tattoo build thread. nevertheless, i was never able to eliminate the dreaded "rosie delays" so i switched back to the donut-ion build. i miss having all the extra home pages and the built-in exchange integration but the stupid lags and delays were driving me nuts... YMMV.
I was using sense hero a little while until today when I flashed jamezelle's tattoo.
Tattoo is super fast compared to hero hands down using both in NAND.
With hero it would seem to run very fast for a little bit on reboot, then slow down and
lag a lot. tattoo is quick from the start and doesn't slow down, it really feels like it was made for the phone and reminds me of how smooth the winmo roms were.
Another thing is that I had problems answering calls on time with hero, but I haven't missed one yet with tattoo..
In the end hero wasn't fast enough for me day-to-day and actually I got on xda to switch back to winmo 6.5 and android on haret for the time being, but I tried tattoo on NAND and I'm sticking with this for awhile

The MyTouch is faster than our phones... its just not a realistic portrayal of the speed on the Vogue. Makes little sense to compare apples to oranges...

Lags and slow scrolling on all Rom's

Hello,
I am experiencing heavy lags and timeouts while using multiple applications, using the phone application and while downloading via 3g data connection.
It doesn't matter which build I use.
Is the reason for this behavior known? I think it's kernel based.
Furthermore I use the browser really much, but compared to windows scrolling and zooming is damn slow and choppy. Is it the gpu or cpu, the hw3d driver or to small amount of free ram?
Greetings,
Sebastian
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Appaj
yeah, it's because you are using Android from microSD card. You probably have class 2 card, try using some nice class 6. Also, please note that Android will eventually be run in HD2 memory, therefore speed will be much faster.
For now, we all stick to Android on microSD card.
They are all beta realeases. Thanks for posting your bug report, but in future try to do that AFTER searching for similar posts, and then if you do find a NEW bug then add it to the already over-burdened threads that exist.
HD2 can run class10? If you can "ANDROID ROM is faster...
Get a better card!
The read/write speed of the card you are using makes all the difference. Using a 4gb class 6 card and it is running relatively smooth. Very little lag using Darkstone's builds. Minor lags with Dan's builds but no biggie. Every once in a while, under heavy use, I get unresponsive screen for a couple of seconds then its back to normal. Will probably invest in a class 10 card to see if I get any better performance. Anybody using a class 10 please chime in and give us some input.
I'm using the stock 16gb card which is default in tmous hd2.
It's slow and choppy.

faster 3g on android then win mobile

I just installed the latest froyo build from darkstone. Using 3G in android my internet is at least twice as fast as my 3G on my energy rom. any ideas why the speed difference?
i felt the same way too.. funny how wm works..
Same here, Froyo does claim that they have the fastest browser
I do remember using Opera 10 and it can render webpage faster than
Opera 9 or Winmo default IE.
So partly would be due to browser app we are using
__
check with a speedtest website, then you can see if your speed gains are from the 3g or from the browser renderer

I noticed the same thing with the same build, my connection switched from 3G to H especially when downloading Apps. I never seen the H before with windows 6.5? I think it's called "3G+" ?

[Q] Speed of android on HD2 vs native android devices

Since i got my HD2 2 weeks ago, i passed immediately to android builds with Haret, and i was happy with it, daily basis, no major issues, except eh touch freeze for 1 sec, which was even solved yesterday when i passed to a kernel with the freeze solution.
but i went back to Windows Mobile (Duttys V7 rom) for a while, and speed is SO MUCH higher, with Resco explorer i can navigate and scroll way much faster than file explorers on android (on HD2).
my question is: is this because of android not native for HD2, or android itself is slower than Windows mobile?
I don't get any noticeable lag in my file explorer. Not compared to my gf's desire anyway. Suppose it depends on your SD card overall. I'm using a class 6 2Gb one and a class 4 8Gb one, both seem nice and snappy.
not only lag, but graphics speed. after you've entered a directory with many files, if you scroll up and down, is it faster on a native desire device than on hd2 androids?
I use also a class6 8gb card, with windows i can change folder and scroll up/down files list much faster than in android.
I used to have that problem, I'm thinking about three weeks ago but the latest kernels have all but eliminated that as far as I can see. I'll test something like Astro with my gf's desire side by side (will have to wait til the weekend) but it feels about as smooth as butter on my HD2
If you're using hastarin's kernel and you still have this problem, there must be something wrong.
But I have to say scrolling in the dock is not as smooth as on other phones. Even if you're using a native device. But that's a well known problem of HTC sense I think.
What about Power consumption on native droids? How much does Desire or Galaxy S eat when idle? my HD2 (with MDJ Sense Clean 2.4, S6.1) takes from 3-6mA on idle.
It's that now i am getting more and more into this Android OS, and will be using only it, having HD2 is great but Android still got some issues.
If i get the possibility to exchange it with an HTC Desire or Galaxy S, is it worth doing?

Overclock hd2 with wp7 on it?

Is there a program or something that allows you to overclock the cpu or gpu on the phone?
why on earth would you like to OVERclock your cpu while running wp7 on hd2?
everything is fast and smooth, so whats the matter with it?
So please..tell me why you would need THAT.
by the way: there is no way to do that, whether on hd2 wp7 or on any other windows phone 7 device, because there is no function in the aplication programming interface that goes that deep.
Well mine can be laggy sometimes. What rom are you using and how often do you use wp7 on your phone
It´s not caused by your CPU, it is caused by you SD Card if it laggs.
Yea but its not installed onto a sd card. I dont even have a sd card in it
Dude, that isnt going to help!
Your phone doesnt have all that much space, let it breath and it shall shine

I'm using Xboxmod-Rom 1.03 but infact I never had any lags with it. The Roms are daily-use-roms (all that are released for now) and so I'm using it the whole day for everything. Phone, texting, surfing, facebook, games, camera. No Lags. Not at all.
It runs in RAID0-Mode. That means, some part of it is on the NAND (Flash-memory) and some is on the SD-Card. I dont know what happens if you dont use any sd-card, so I would recommend you to put in a 4gb+ card inside and flash wp7 again. I'm pretty sure the lags will be gone (except the sd-card isnt supported by wp7).

+1 for this - and above statements about overclocking.
There are even videos in the web which prove that HD2 with WP7 is on par with HD7 - no lags at all, ever, in normal daily use. For me personally, now since one full month. I just changed to the moonlight ROM to get rid of re-locking (Chevron-related) issues, but not because of lack of speed.
Personally, I do believe that the most recent and growing number of cases of other users who bricked their phones could come from "overclocking" and such stuff under Android.
The HD2 hardware design is simply not made to play around. It is still one of the fastest devices on the market just as it is.
