Is there any way to disable the "Delete" option for my messages in inbox?
That is no one should be able to delete the messages.
Not aware of any such system, but, you can use one of the various "App Lockers" which will lock the messaging app with a password. Or, alternatively, take backups of your messages regularly using any SMS backup app.

Very intresting.. u might be facing some serious accidental deletes / unauthorized deletes. But u might not find a messaging application like that.
---U can lock any apps with "App Protector" preventing the unauthorized usage. I guess u also need individual msg locking, but I don't know whether it is available presently.
---And there are full fledged sms backup applications (say "Sms Backup & Restore"). U can set automatic scheduled hourly backups to memory card. And u can restore and even can access the backed up content from pc.
---And if u still need an option to disable the deleting, maybe u should ask the devs. Or maybe u should write ur own source (if u r a programmer) without the delete option and compile it. Don't know how far it works, but definitely it is a tough one.

Is it possible I dont want to loose my txt messages if I try and flash or update.
I use a app called back up to Gmail. Works great. Check it out and you will not have to worry about your text messages after a flash.
SMS Backup +
It's in the market, best app ever for this purpose.
Titanium Backup can handle this, as well as pretty much any backup situation you can think of.

[sms/mms/apn] Dialer Storage 2.2
Download from market. Run BATCH, to back up all apps. If you want data as well such as sms, select back up data as well. After you flash, redownload Titanium if necessary, select Batch & restore data & or apps.

I like mybackup root just do backup data then choose sms
The pro with SMS Backup + is that it creates a folder within gmail like your inbox for only your text messages... you do not need to backup, it just does it for you in the background... also nice because you can search all your messages a lot easier from the browser.
The other methods work, just not nearly as well in my opinion.
It's been a long time since I used SMS Backup +. It didn't have the ability to save MMS back when I used it. Good stuff.

Use titanium backup and freeze it, that way, you can bring it back if you need to.
I'd suggest doing a Nandroid backup first, just in case.
Freeze yes, Delete No
Freeze Yes, Delete No, It's part of the system an has code that you need But for some reason it can be frozen with Titanium root/Pro, It's the app an not the system code that is frozen. I too use Go Sms an apps and I just freeze apps an not delete them. That way no crushing or forced closings of any thing
So Happy x10ings

reason being sometimes GO SMS won't work and theres a notification on the main menu saying 1 unread message which means I need to reboot to access my msgs again - and i keep receiving 3 -4 msgs for the same msg - its annoying and they've only sent it once.
Sometimes Titanium Backup makes itself my default message app. Now, anyone with familiarity with TiBu should know that it is not a messaging app. It can't send them or receive them, as far as I can tell.
When it is the default and someone texts me, the text seems to never arrive at my phone. In fact, the only way that I know TiBu has become the default is when someone asks why I'm ignoring their texts and I look at the default apps to find TiBu as my messenger.
Is there a reason why this should be happening? Is there a reason why TiBu should even be an option for default messaging apps? I've attached a pic to prove I'm not crazy. Hopefully someone out there has seen this and has an answer? I'm tempted to uninstall TiBu until I need it, reinstalling every time I need to backup apps and then uninstall it again. That just seems like an avoidable hassle.

It shows up as an option for me as well but it isn't selected as my default.
Inside titanium there is a titanium messages app that is called "Messages (SMS & MMS) com.keramidas.virtual.xml_messages
You can't delete it since it is a part of titanium. Maybe this is the way it backs up the messages. Our phones see that as a possible messaging app.
It's not always my default, it just steals it every so often. A little frustrating, and I can't google for the answer because all i get are pages telling me how to freeze the default messaging app with TiBu.

If I can't delete it, can I freeze it? I'm just wondering why my default changes to TiBu for no reason. I may have to go the messy route of deleting/reinstalling whenever I need it.

There doesn't seem to be an option to uninstall or freeze.
The behavior that I have seen is that TiBu sets itself as the default messaging app when performing restores of SMS messages.
Is it possible that you have some scheduled TiBu jobs running?

The only schedule I have is to "Backup new user+system apps & newer versions". It's not enabled and has never run. I'll delete it, just in case it's giving me that issue, and watch for the problem to reappear.
Hi. I'm trying to copy texts (SMS and MMS) from my girlfriend's iPhone, and have an app copy them to my phone from iTunes' backup files. I have reading the backup files mostly figured out, but I'm not sure how I'm going to go about adding them to my phone. How can I create SMS and MMS messages? (With correct timestamps, etc.)
I'm new to Android app development, but I am very experienced with Java. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
dont knoe what u are talking about but this might be the thing u want.

That just schedules text messages to be sent to yourself in the future. I want to create sms/mms messages at a specific date in the past.

Well if you want to make this kind of app first of all you need to make class where all the api will be there like sendSMS(to number etc) read message as list etc then make dialog where people can select the date and time store this to database then make loop for the database list then make timer of the time and date when the image is matched then call your api sendSMS then stop the timer and remove the data from the database this much you can do it if you want to .
Hope you understand bye.

I'm not sure how to write the api for it though. How would I create a simple MMS/SMS message?
When selecting all the text messages in the Spam box the app just hangs and asks me to wait or stop the app.
There must be some app to help with this ?
Is it accessible from third party apps?
I have tried many popular sms apps that claims to delete spam, but it seems that Lollipop 5.1.1 blocks them from being deleted via an app
I'm not sure, try in safe mode. You need root.
Hi
Try MOBILedit . its a software to manage your phone via PC through USB / Bluetooth connection.
It can help with what you wanna achieve here.
I been using it for quite sometime. It makes managing phone easy.
I have just tried Mobiledit, but Spam messages is not seen anywhere under the Messaging option - just normal Messages.
Have tried looking in Files & User Files, but do not know where it is located ?
Also I do not want to root my phone (yet) due to KNOX warranty issues.
15.000 spam messages?!
Djeez...
