Hi!
Im trying to make hard reset-factory data reset on my rooted xoom with clockwork recovery...but I cant...
I tried from system menu but my xoom restarts on clockwork recovery: here i do wipe cache-data reset but nothing happens...after reboot all data are still there...
any help please?
thx
download the files from brds 3.1 update and install them from the sd card. That will wipe it all out no?
Thx...
But i cant flash from sd. I still have the original kernel..
By the way I solved flashing the original recovery and wiping from settings menu.

Hello, I have recently been unable to flash ROM's succesfully.
I have Clockwork MOD 4.0.0.2 installed as it came with CF-Root, and I am on stock 2.3.5 KI3.
I have tried flashing several roms, and while it says install complete, whenever it restarts, it is on a boot loop, where it won't go past the Galaxy S II bit with the yellow triangle, I have to flash the stock rom again using odin to even use the phone, I have tried to flash other recovery versions, like 4.0.0.14 and 5.1.2.6 (I think it is) but they all come up with errors mounting or getting recovery.log or something, could you please help?
Did you try to do a full wipe?
Most issues can be resolved by this.
In the CWM menu chose the factory reset/full wipe. (Don't worry it won't touch your files on the internal SD card)
Do a cache wipe and in the advanced menu do a dalvik cache wipe.
Some recommend to do this procedure twice, but you should be settled with doing it once
Let me know if it helped?

Yeah I did all that, didn't help, the progress bar gets half way and says complete :S I have downloaded the ROMs several times aswell incase they were corrupt, still didn't help.
Take out the battery, wait a bit, put it back in. Do all the wipe and formatting procedures (perhaps twice) and format the internal sd card as well and wipe the battery stats (just to be sure)

I would like to ask that when I wipe data in recovery , what will actually be wipe, will my photo or music be wipe?
Sent from my MB526 using xda app-developers app
If you wipe data in recovery mode, it'll wipe everything. Everything.
I mean in custom recovery, if it will wipe everything even the zip in sd card then how can we actually flash rom? Sorry for my silly question, cause my previous phone can use sdcard which don't got this problem....

If you wipe data in recovery, it doesn't wipe your photos or music.
It only wipes your apps, system apps and their data. Also resets the phone.
Then only way you wipe your photos or music is if you go to;
mount and storage > format sdcard.
WHICH YOU DON'T WANT TO DO!
So if you want to flash a custom ROM;
In your recovery you;
Wipe data & Factory Reset
Go go Advance > wipe dalvik cache
Flash your ROM.

Thanks, that's mean it's just the same way as defy, how about how about flash a kernel? Because as defy's boot loader are locked, we can't actually flash a really kernel, just the 2nd boot kernel

Well if your bootloader is locked, look around the development thread for the nexus 4 utility 1.3.0
That unlocks, roots, install recovery and all sort of stuffs.
To flash a kernel to a stock or custom ROM;
Boot to recovery
Format Cache
Format dalvik cache
Flash
Reboot.

Unlocking bootloader will wipe EVERYTHING on your phone.
what would i have to do if i wanted to wipe my sd card? stock clean??
i've taken up 2gb of data because i tried to make a system back up but i've done it like 3 time and i can't find the backup zips so i just want to clean the SD card back to the begining without messing up the system data since i'm not flashing anything new
I have the same doubt. What is the best way to format SD card?. I did it once and had to inject the ROM with computer using ADb. Any alternative?

Hello,
Today I wanted to factory reset my phone so I booted into CWM Recovery and did a factory reset. Strangely when I rebooted all my apps, settings and other stuff where still there. Then I tried to do a factory reset via the settings menu but it still didn't work. I figured I should just flash the rom and gapps again but this didn't work either. Also when I tried wiping dalvik it just went back to the advanced menu in CWM without wiping dalvik. I run CM9-NIGHTLY-121118-Defy+ with gapps-ics-20120429-signed on my Defy+, Bootmenu version is v2.1 and the CWM Version is v5.7.0- jordan.
I hope someone can help me figure out how to fix it.
Thanks!
You can try the format filesystem option from the boot menu. Convert to ext3 and then back to ext 4. If this doesn't work then try a wipe from the stock recovery. And lastly, try an sbf flash

Ah thanks, yesterday I figured it would just be easier to flash a stock sbf then go trough all the hassle of finding a solution.
Thanks anyways!
Using these would've been an easier solution, though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520

I believe there is option via for ex dr.fone software but unfortunatelly s4 blocking access. Wondering if I flash any non stock rom it will help
if they were stored on the internal and you formatted it, they are basically gone, as i don't think you can mount this in windows, you will only have limited access to certain files via the mtp interface.
if they were on your ext sd card, remove it and use a card reader to connect to your pc and try recovery software?
as have been deleted in stock Recovery I do not believe to be restored
Guys you both right. Still no luck on stock rom. Just wondering if I flash for ex SlimKat will I be able to mount internal storage? Thanks

This is part of how to install SlimKat
Reboot to recovery.
In recovery make a full wipe as per these instructions:
In CWM perform wipe data / factory reset and in mounts and storage section format system.
In TWRP choose advanced in wipe section and wipe dalvik cache, cache, system and data.
Flash SlimKat rom zip.
Flash SlimKat gapps zip.
Reboot, setup and enjoy.
What's up
You will delete,format again,wipe again
before install
I need to talk?
i've read many guidelines, installed stock rom, custom rom... but it keeps on booting in CMW. help anyone?

Go to download mode (remove battery press volume down while pressing this button connect your phone to PC, then your phone will be in emergency mode then flash stock Rom using KDZ Updater).
