This is what a friend asked me to post here as he had no account
Let’s see… I was cleaning a bit and I accidentally deleted the certifficate of my .apk without noticing it and it is already in the market. What do I need it for? To upload an update.
This is the error that comes up when trying to upload the new .apk
“The apk must be signed with the same certificates as the previous version.”
I have tried this:
- http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/A ... b586&hl=en
- copying the old META-INF folder into the new .apk
- restoring the deleted files, but all the ones that are 2KB big have strange names and I don’t think any one of those is the one
- I have created a new certificate with the same data (even time and date of creation) and nothing…
Nothing of this works and, sincerely, I wouldn’t like to upload it and deactivate the other one (it has nearly 2000 downloads)
Any ideas? What I want is to extract my certificate from my .apk
PS: In case anyone asks, this is the application: https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... rch_result

It's not possible, sorry. Your friend will have to add it as a new application.

So yes, Titanium Backup and the deletion of google talk are at it again. This time I actually knew I shouldn't delete then brain farted and did it anyway. So here lies my marketless and FC gapps everytime I pull the market app up.
For the record I searched as best as possible for a solution and the closest I got was a link for gtalk and the Evo 4G, and needless to say it still doesn't work, the market and the force close gapps.service still happens after re install
A solution without a flash and re-root is preferred, please educate the new guy! Thanks for the record I know I'm a jack wagon lol.
Search these forums (or Google) for Fascinate System Dump. It will have whatever files you deleted.
So dump files obtained. Is this is simple drag and drop to the OS or do I need a program on the computer to be able to interface with the filesystem on the Fascinate?
Bare with me guys, while I bring myself up to speed on tearing through the Andriod OS, hacking windows is one thing - tearing apart my phone for the first time - thats a whole nother ball game for me.

So I did that, finally got the files onto my phone and reinstalled all the google.apks including ones that were already existing on the phone.
To no avail I still get the gapps Force close and I'm still unable to download from market after restoring Google Talk Service.
Any help or a simple suggestion would be appreciated - been trying this all day with no success.
I'm not sure if you "installed" the apps or if you placed them back in their proper folder(s), but my guess is that any app you had pre-installed which you deleted was previously in the /system/app folder. The dump has all the files in this folder. You don't need to re-install these files, you need to just copy them back to the /system/app folder.
When you download and install an app, it will install to /data/app. If you "installed" the files rather than copying them back to /system/app, that may be the problem.
On a side-note, this is why I like to move files from one folder to another rather than use Titanium Backup to delete apps/files.
Don't forget to reboot your phone after you copy the files back to /system/app.
Lastly, I'm not responsible for what you break.

Roger that side note - that will be my new policy when managing files.
As far as the clarification - I have been indeed installing the apps instead of moving them to the appropriate location - I guess the difference in installation location never occurred to me. Thank you in advance for the heads up and I'll report my success or failure, hopefully success after i get out of work this evening.
Don't worry if I brick I won't hold you accountable - after all I'm the one who deleted Google apps from the Andriod phone. LOL, In hindsight it was a terrible Idea.
For some reason acer decided not to put the exchange feature onto the tablet which i found quite annoying. thankfully user member id10terrordfw found a way to fix this and posted the apks.
to get exchange working you first need root and either root explorer (paid app but worth the money) or es file explorer (free but you have to enable root privaleges inside the app. its under the settings menu)
1. navigate to system/apps and copy email.apk and email.odex
2. past these to your sd card as a backup
3. rename email.apk and email.odex to email.apk.old and email.odex.old
4. extract the files from the download and past them into the system/apps folder. (they should be Email.apk and EmailWidget.apk)
5. once done you can then go to email and try and setup an exchange account.
previously it only gave an imap and pop3 selection on the manual setup page. now it should include exchange as an option.
tested and working by me
again a big big thank you to the original poster/fixer the original thread is

I attempted these instructions but after renaming the email.apk and email.odex, the e-mail app doesn't show in the list of apps installed. I attempted to install the email app from the files provided and it won't install.
My tablet is rooted and I made the changes using Root Explorer.

you're not supposed to install them, just drop them in the correct folder
sorry my reply to this post didn't include that i extracted the files to my flash drive and copied the files from the flash drive to the system/apps folder.

please help...
reboot
then it should work
Thanks.. i repeated the hole process again and after three rebooting it works now and finally i can receive my company eMails naturally.
its a shame no search feature for this mail app.
Email FCs
I was able to copy the 2 APK files and configure my Exhange account but after it opens for a few seconds, it FCs.
Anyone had the same problem?
exchange is working
2 conditions:
1. you have to add an account in settings sync choose company
2. you have o define a pin code
3. you have to encrypt your device.
i am at the encryption stage takes an hour especailly to find out if it slows down somewhat.
so before barking check.
What a load of baloney. If you have the update from 139 or higher, all you have to do,with the default email client, is go to Settings , Accounts. Tap Add Account, Choose Corporate and set it up as normal. No PIN or encryption needed.

Sent from my S300 using XDA App
Getting exchange to work
Hi all,
I finally got it working but I had to do just about everything in this thread.
Use the (paid) Root Explorer, all the others just won't get the (root) privileges needed to rename and paste, eventhough they might say they have. I fiddled around with this for an hour before I gave up and bought the root explorer app.
Check the permissions of the original files (email.apk and email.obex), when you have pasted your new files into the /system/apps folder the permissions will probably be different. Reset them to what the original files were otherwise your e-mail app will not show up in the apps list.
Reboot! My email app disappeared and only returned when I rebooted.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the original post in this thread!!

PIN and Encryption requirements are set by your exchange server. Requirements change depending on how your IT has the server set up.
ok if you think so. I just can tell you that it will not allow to connect to exchange as long as you have not encryptet the device, and this has nothing to do with exchange requirements, but with standard ACER policy, ie. if you use it as a company device you should encrypt the device.
I am exchange administrator using as well exchange 2007 and 2010 virtualized exchange servers and i am sure i know what i am talking about. ACTIVESYNC does not require any encryption at all.
but of corse i am talking about the standard email client coming from ACER/GOOGLE, not some other made up email client needing root and so on.
but you can believe it or not, up to you, but that is the way it works.
Hello,
does anyone knows where i find a Stock ROM Built A310_02 _0037_0076_WE or system apks located in /system/app.
After rooting and deleting some apks with Titanium backup without saving them (foul), it's not possible to install OTA2.
The update fails because /system/app/Calculator.apk was not found.
I've tried to remove the patch entries from update.zip Manifest file, but that doesn't work either. The update aborted with signature fail.
Thanks
babbamaic
My rooted 1838-25U is running A310_02_0037_0075_US. If there are any files you'd like off of my system, list them here and send me a PM with your email and I'll email them to you or upload them to dropbox for you.

Thank you for your help. Could you Post the content of your /system/app folder, that I know what is missing.
here is the file list. you won't need vortexHD.apk oem_install_flash_player.apk, dxtg-lnv......apk or any of the files from notesmobile.
here i uploaded nearly the whole dump:
System Dump
http://download.lenovo.com/slates/think/tablet1
You have to click on them to see what file they actually are (I was using Chrome, and it didn't show the whole file name up front). It's pretty much everything stock.
Social Touch (VortexHD.apk)

Hi, could you please send me the download link for Lenovo Thinkpad Social Touch (VortexHD.apk)?

I know that during the installation process, xaps are scanned for any "illegal" capabilities in the WMAppManifest.xml file. Does anyone know what purpose this file serves after an xap has been installed on the device?
My thought is this:
Install an app with a non-elevated WMAppMAnifest.xml. Then when you launch the installed app, it updates the xml file with additional capabilities (Interop Services, for example) and exits. Then when the app is relaunched, it will have access to the new capabilities in the xml file?
What do you guys think? Has this been done before? is that xml file only used during installation?

i think i tried this way and app returned failure error
i'm sure about that any app have to check capabalities during installation but in launch times i don't know that phone check caps again or no.
best work to test is changing this file in an interop unlock full fs phone and see the re-action
Caps are written to package manager database & global account database. WMAppManifest isn't used after installation is finished.
Yeah, this method was tried long, long ago.
Besides, even if it worked and the file was checked later, all that would mean is that you couldn't launch the app anymore. The capabilities-vs.-unlock-level appears to be checked at every startup, not just at install.
@GoodDayToDie @ultrashot I figured as much, thanks for the info.
On a semi-related note, I just received a completely different HTC 8x (T-Mobile branded) back from HTC (5th time in for repair). If this one really works, maybe I can have some fun with my Lumia 521 and/or try to figure out how to unbrand/mod the 8x. I really want to add WiFi calling to the 8x, but I need to add some certs, a missing dll, and some reg keys.
Everytime I go online, I get this message ( see attachement )
Install/Update/Enable Google U...."
Request by com.google.android.syns.upda...."
syns !! ??
Looks like some fake. I guess it is no from ZTE or Google.
Clicking it will download an apk- file from the domain coupon6.com named Update-System-4.0.apk (size 1.13 MB)
Does anyone know what kind of message that is and what causes it?
I extracted the apk file:
META-INF (folder)
res (folder with subfolders like anim, color, color-v11, drawable***,....)
AndroidMAnifest.xml (file)
classes.dex (file)
resources.ars (file)
All virus scanners found no thread. Can I upload it here? Maybe not as apk but repacked as zip.
Does anyone know how to understand, what the files are doing?
Has anyone seen this too?
SOLVED: It seemed to be caused by this app WAVE UNLOCK
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wolf.uit.com.unlockbywave
I still don´t know what if is is malware oder virus.
um, no, maybe malicious app or mitm attack on a coffe shop wifi?

I'm getting that notification too, eventhough I keep dismissins it it still returns in my notificationbar after some time.
So it's Wave Unlock? Thanks a lot for the info. Both me and my wife use it, it's very good otherwise, but we were both on public wi-fi recently so I thought we picked up some nastiness there. So what to do with WU? Reinstall or?
UDATE: it seems it's been removed from the Store. Wonder why lol I disabled notifications for the app and it doesn't nag any more. I think I'll keep it because it keeps working flawlessly with next to zero impact on battery.
