[Q] Netflix as of today on cyanogen? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just recently got the mytouch (today actually), and already rooted and installed CM 7 (Stable, not the nightly release.) Netflix seems to only produce audio in it. I cannot see any video. Is there any roms that work with the new netflix apk that I can use?

[Q] Youtube for HTC Legend

I'm a great fan of cyanogenmod and all that's related. I'm even a great fan of my Legend which seems to be forgotten or swept under the carpet...
I've just tried hopfully to try and get Flash to work until I found on this forum that that would'nt work because the last version of Flash requires newer hardware.
Now it seems that YouTube doesn't work anymore (read: I can't install it from the app market)?
I'm really upset by this, not that I'm a YouTube addict, but I used it now and then to look at movie trailers etc.
So I allready tried to install an APK from somewhere on this forum, but that crashes on me.
I currently run the Cyanogenmod Mod 7 nighty build 24.

[Q] Have there been any major updates to the U8800 roms lately?

I've been away from the forums for a good while now. Last time I was here was when the Mongolian 137 was released, and there was talk of Cyanogenmon Had some trouble with my phone recently and decided now was a good time to update the room. I had been running a modified International 136.
Have there been any major updates to the roms lately?
I found [ROM] void. (2.2.2; #draco; francoKernel v1), and it looks promising. I also saw miui, but I've heard of incompatibility issues with various programs (namely swype), so I'll probably stay away. Any other new/great roms come out recently?
I run FLB Custom ROM along with my Black Magic Theme.
Very stable and no problems to report

I've been with miui and had no problems with swype.. the biggest problem, for me, was the camera.. not working

I actually built cm9 for my wingray a couple days ago just to see how progress is coming. Since most of the custom settings haven't been ported from cm7 yet i didn't keep it long. I do like the trebuchet launcher and a few other tweaks so I'm currently running an unholy mashup of cm9/EOS as you can see in my system settings

awesome mate
any differences in CM9 and EOS
Installed CM9 last night and its running great.
does CM9 have overclocking ability?
Is it going to be an officially supported device or are there just some cool peeps porting it to the Xoom?
Ha. Just wondered into the Dev section and saw the post. Thanks Team Rogue.
Is cm9 more stable thusfar? I went with the very well done EOS. No complaints thusfar but even on nightly 38 grand theft auto randomly freezes and some other games don't seem to work. Luckily most Gameloft games work. I've scoured the net to try and find a fix for gta but I guess if Im patient it'll get fixed in a newer nightly? Does gta play well on cm9?

I'm running the CM9 build because the EOS one wouldn't run some apps (Slingplayer most importantly for me) and so far GTA3 is running like butter at 1504mhz via SetCPU. I did a wipe of my card for unconnected reasons and then re-downloaded the GTA3 data so that may or may not have been a factor.
Damn. I did a full wipe before installing EOS ics so this must be a nightly thing. I just don't know how to feel about cm9 because we're not officially supported. I'm sure the kang release is awesome, but I just started getting my apps in order. Maybe ill jump ship, maybe ill stay where I am. Lol. Thanks.
I'm kind of interested in CM9, but really have no plans to leave the Team EOS rom. While I love CM on my Nexus, I've never had a CM rom Work as completely and as bug free as these EOS nightlies have been. With CM, there always seems to have been a trade off of one thing for another... Unless there is something ground-breaking about CM9??
Damn. I just switched roms and gta still freezes. What the hell? It says it supports ics...

HTC Vision YouTube ROM Showcase

-Nov. 4 2015-
I have this phone back in my hands yet again, got my mum a new phone since she hates Android. I may or may not decide to continue this series, I probably will since I'm going to start doing so on the Moto G. If there is anyone left with this phone at all that would like to see a ROM review or a ROM in action, leave a reply on the thread and I'll see what I can do. Happy watching!
-Nov. 7 2015 update-
What I'm going to do instead of like my previous recordings, I'm going to flash a ROM and use it for one week with casual use, then try and upload it the following Sunday/Monday. It might not be on a weekly basis, but I will post whenever I have a new video up. I also don't know how much I will use it on a daily basis since it's not my primary phone, but I will try to do light web browsing, occasional light gaming, and social media while also tweaking some settings and customizing it depending on the features of the rom.

That's actually what I planned on doing for this week, I'm not sure which rom since there are several good ones to choose from, I'm still figuring that out
Nice to watch :good:
Great that you're doing this I'll be adding to the vision thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
For suggestions on ROM videos, try to do as many different categories, you have sense, cyanogen, next miui, then maybe an aosp (guhl99s permission spoofing would be great)
Keep it up!

Great idea. Once I get a few more uploaded then I'll break up the original post into those subcategories. Hell, I take that back. I'll do it now since I have some spare time
This week's is gonna be a day late, my apologies
*Edit*
So my camera decided that it hates life, so I sadly have to skip this week's. I'll hopefully get it's problem worked out or switch over to my old external webcam
Finally found my camera charger, new upload for this week, it's a day early because I'll be busy all day tomorrow. G2 Slim v1.6 is this week's, CyanKat or Andromadus CM11 is going to be next week's.

I loved Slim's roms. I've tested some on the SGS and we had only one once on the Vision but it was good!
Would love to have SlimKat on Vision... Omni ROM look promising too but the promises of the new cyankat are impressive!
Because I am testing out demkantor's build of TWRP recovery, I will not have a video up just yet because of a bug I stumbled upon. I will however turn this from a Friday-only, I guess mini-series is the best way to explain it, into probably twice a week or so. I'll have either CyanKat or Flinny's CM11 up around Monday/Tuesday.
*Edit*
Since the person behind CyanKat is working on an update, I'm gonna postpone my video for that and focus on some other Sense and MIUI roms until it's updated. Once it is, I'll get a video on it up for you guys.
Aw come on, there's plenty of ROMs that work with my 90% working twrp, there's always my 90% working cyanmobile ROM
Keep up the good work, twice a week sounds better than one time!

New vid up, slightly longer than usual cuz I went on a rant about a few things. xD It's CoolOS's GB MIUIv3, I decided to do a MIUI build since I kept saying I'd do one but never got around to it. enjoy.
One thing I'm now going to do for you guys and gals out there is write a full review on each rom that I have done a video on, so you can get a more in-depth opinion and overview of the rom.. The first one is up in the first post, it's CoolOS's Sensei rom. Happy reading!
hope to see some new videos soon!
PS, added your great work above the ROM list FOUND HERE
Written review for G2Slim is live. New video(s) planned for the upcoming days.
New video coming up today/tomorrow after I get some rest since I just got off night shift. So, yeah. xD
I might revive this since I've been contemplating doing it with the Moto G as well, I edited the first post. Why not do both in case there are people out there still with the phone?

I'm not too sure what's out there that's specifically 2.3.4, but there are several 2.3.3 ROMs. Are you mainly after camera features, customization, speed, or all of the above?

[Q] Android ROM for HD2 with working Netflix?

I dug my old TMOUS HD2 out yesterday and (finally) deleted WinMo 6.5. Flashed Android KitKat (ChauTien CM 4.4.2 v2.0) to NAND and it looks beautiful. Everything I've tried so far on it works fine, except Netflix- app installs fine from Play store but when I run it I get "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix Service. Please try again later. (-9)". All the other phones, tablets & computers in the house can reach the Netflix server. I was hoping to make the HD2 my regular carry phone, but no Netflix is a dealbreaker for me.
Are there any good, stable Android ROMS out there that will give me Netflix support? If you know of some, pros/cons of each would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!
Hello Me, it's Me.
(I'm replying to myself, but really more for the benefit of future searchers)
After a lot more forum searching, it looks like HD2 Android & Netflix can be had if you're willing to install a Gingerbread ROM. Sadly, you can't use anything newer than that- IceCreamSandwich, JellyBean & KitKat ROMs just don't work with Netflix on the HD2. I don't know if anything past that might work as Lollipop hasn't been released yet at the time of this post. I'm currently using the ROM from this thread: [27 OCT 2012][MAGLDR/cLK]TyphooN CyanogenMod 7.2.0.1 v3.8.9[2.3.7][A2SD+][tytung r14] and Netflix works fine. Other Gingerbread ROMs may work as well, but this is the only one I've tested so far.
For the benefit of future readers, I tried the steps listed in this thread: [Edit][Fix for issues with GPS and other apps] HD2 Netflix Master Hack, both the edits to build.prop and installing the .apk for old Netflix app. The old app (as I expected) didn't do anything but force me to install the current app from the Play Store. The changes to build.prop didn't affect anything with the Netflix service but certainly made the rest of my phone buggy. So, don't bother with that stuff, it's outdated and doesn't do anything, or at least not anything good.
After the above, I started from scratch (did a full wipe and re-flashed the ROM). This time I just went straight to the Play Store and installed the Netflix app. It works! :good:
I don't know how to tell if I'm getting Netflix' highest-quality stream, all the old threads I've been wading through seem to indicate that the Netflix apps at that time would only feed the HD2 a lower quality stream. But the app I just got from the Play Store is obviously a much newer app- it shows the new Netflix Logo they recently introduced, and it supports Netflix Profiles, which didn't exist back when Gingerbread was a current OS. The picture quality I'm getting is definitely acceptable to me- it's not as nice as on my HTC One S, but that's no surprise.
TL;DR: If you want Netflix on HD2, install a Gingerbread ROM and download the App directly from the Play Store.
