SCROLL DOWN FOR CHANGE LOG
First let me start by saying I am by no means a developer. HOWEVER, Ive become somewhat obsessed with getting ram management right for my usage paterns. After a good week of fiddling around with different LMK values, this is where I ended. Blend of performance and keep in ram, i can have 3-4 apps open and hit the browser and it doesnt have to reload, and ive yet to see ram usage go above 293. It works for me so I want to share with the community. It is your choice on whether you want to keep zram or disable it. Some report better performance either way. This is not a "hack". It is a re-calibration of lmk settings. These settings have been tested on 0.4.4.16 and up versions of Talon kernel on Apex. I am not responsible for any mishaps.
Directions: Flash from CWM
UPDATE 11-1-11:
More effective lmk adj/oom settings
Changed lmk values to achieve balance of performance and memory
Adjusted home app adj value to prevent launcher kills
Adjusted home app mem to improve multi task
SPECIAL THANKS TO PIKACHU01 FOR IMPROVED LMK ADJ/OOM LEVELS
Special thanks to:
Existz for the outstanding feature packed Talon Kernel
Kodos96 for initial ram management
Apparition for creating the CWM flashable file
Anyone else associated with the development of the Talon Kernel
Juwe 11 for peaking my interest in ram management
And finally watsa for the masterpiece that is Apex 9.1
*Edit* PROCEDURE ONLY FOR TALON KERNEL! For other kernels, you must locate where your ram settings are located and adjust values there.
Thanks for the research... Where is the ram.conf located?

*edit* maybe you could upload your ram.conf file so we can just download it and put it where it needs to be?

^^^^^i second that, im exceedingly curious about such scripts and how yours will stack up to v6 supercharger, or even how it will improve upon v6 when paired with it, but i cant pull up your screenshot (my computer at work issue, nothing wrong with it) so uploading the .conf file would be convenient
Can this be used with xcals I9000 reorient kernel? Isn't talon based of xcals?
If your Rom does not contain a ram.conf file....im pretty sure it wont work. Youd have to find out where your Rom keeps its ram management files and adjust from there

I had downloaded the Apex ROM to see if I could pull one from there since that's what you said you were using but I couldn't find it... Besides what would it hurt to try? If it doesn't work with my ROM then I just added a file to my phone that doesn't do anything. No big deal

You might have to rename it to .txt before you upload it or add a .txt on the end and then just note in the OP to rename or remove the .txt I would suggest zipping it up, but some might think it's a CWM flashable zip and then spam the thread with post about not being able to flash it...

Not sure. I dont see why not. Just go to etc folder then scroll down and see if theres a ram conf. file. To be safe, make a back up thru cwm since it would save ram.conf. Then edit away

As he mentioned in OP, it is for Talon Kernel. Apex ROM package comes with DarkCore Kernel. You will have to flash Talon Kernel to use this hack.

It only works on Talon.., Talon is the only kernel that uses the ram.conf file (it is from Kodos96's LMKset designed for Talon)..

*******The new, new KJ2 is out, get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297223
I just put together a quick ROM with the new KJ1, its pretty much stock with a little color.
Nothing special, and this will be the only one I do.
I flashed it and it installs and runs fine, no problems so far.
Deodexed, zipaligned, rooted
****Here is the link for root, just flash it with clockwork mod and you are good to go, forgot to add busybox and su to system\xbin.****
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44737360/Root.zip
And here is the link for those that want the Galaxy S sound back.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44737360/Power_on.zip
It has
The new Boog KJ1 kernel 1, no init.d. Thanks Boog!!! You're a machine.
extended Power menu
circle battery
crt animation
some color
translucent status bar pulldown
tethering
thats it...
Make sure you are on gingerbread boot loaders and have Boogs KJ1 Kernel tar installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294849
Copy the zip file to your sdcard and flash with clockwork mod.
As always, I am not responsible if it messes up your phone.

Hmmm, I added superuser.apk, maybe I will use a newer version, let me try it and I will post a fix in the first post soon.
For some reason the su binary isn't installing, I have to go get ready for work so I won't be able to mess with it until tonight.
I will have to remove the rooted part in the first post.
EDIT:Fixed, forgot to add busybox and su to system\xbin. I thought I did that, but obviously I didn't, all good now...
I also got the errors about my phone being rooted. When i went to update the superuser binary with the superuser app, it gave me a failure... I think the issue is with the binary. Flashed the fuguroot kernel, then re-flashed the boog kernel and all was well. Love the ROM, by the way. Especially the battery icon, and changing colors

Thanks, I don't think busybox is installing either, thats what I get for making changes and not testing things and just taking them for granted it will work.
I'll fix it tonight when I get home...
thats not a big deal! once you get that corrected then i'd be more then happy to use this rom!
Is there a way to get rid of the thunderstorm/rain sound that plays on boot up? I prefer a silent boot up screen (without taking my system volume all the way down)
Edit: Nevermind, found it.

I usually go to TIBU, search for "tethering manager" and uninstall it. It has been working for me.
What does "some color" mean?
Would be great to have Disabled Battery Full Sound/Notification/Vibration, but then I guess you start straying from "stock"

Megaupload keeps stopping for me. Anyone have an alternative?
I hate to be the guy who asks people to sign up for stuff, but I see you've had trouble with dropbox, and nobody wants to use megaupload. So I suggest Minus (that's my referral link) to you. You get 10gb (11gb if you use a referral link) free with easy sharing ability; no waiting or signing up required to download. Android Police used it to share the nexus prime boot animation and afaik their link never went down due to heavy traffic.
Sorry for the off-topic post.
I am currently on Pinnacle 1.3 (KH3 with Boog's KH3 kernel) and of course i897 GB bootloaders. Can I just flash Boog's KJ2 kernel via Odin, boot into recovery and flash your ROM via CWM? Any other steps I'm missing? Is this a wipe?

GINGERBREAD AOSP 2.3.7
The Android Open Source Project ROM:
- It is purer than CM7
- A Nexus One-like "feel"
- Compiled from source, like CM7
- Is different from CM7 because some things from stock work on this ROM (like CF-ROOT)
- Overclockable with CF-ROOT
- It's the purest ROM you can find, baby!
TREAT THIS AS A COMPLETELY NEW ROM
It'll be stable soon.....I hope
What's working (as of now):
-Radio
-WiFi
-CRT animation
-Touch
-USB Mount
-Bluetooth
-Graphics (partially, has some form of flickering but DIFFERENT from CM9) (hopefully will be fixed soon)
What's not working (as of now):
-All sensors
-Audio (hopefully will be fixed in next build)
-Camera (this, maybe 2 builds later?)
-RIL (OH GOD)
-Live Wallpapers (should be fixed soon, if you guys want it of course)
Full list will be updated soon.
Meanwhile here's a buggy one!
On a side note, CF-ROOT b83 works with this ROM which means overclocking :3
http://db.tt/8TDhoLqH
Just flash via Recovery with /system and /data mounted
Credits:
-PabloPL for his sources @ http://github.com/PabloPL/samsung_cooper (sorry I used without permission ! I wanted to use coolya's sources but they gave insane errors, whereas yours doesn't give much)
-ketut.kumajaya for the initial awesome help and your mkfs.ext4 + format.sh script!
-anonym0us_ for being an awesome friend in any way possible, the Galaxy Ace forums miss your kernel work
-TeamCooper members:
-devilsking for telling me that failure leads to success
-cdesai for giving me knowledge in debugging errors and motivation to finish this
-slaid480 for helping me with errors and motivation + pending WiFi fix
-Jekle_Ace for fixing all the **** in the going-to-be-released version
-fla.sh for being awesome
-spacecaker for motivation and error debug
-Google for Android and AOSP
-Apple for being idiots
-Microsoft for Windows 7
-Ubuntu for compiling
This might be the ROM that nearly made me quit TeamCooper >.>
This will be used once this reaches a beta
2.3.7 Alpha 3:
-Using some libs from DDKQ8
-Fixed Bluetooth
2.3.7 Alpha 2:
-WiFi apparently fixed by slaid480
2.3.7 Alpha 1:
- Using PabloPL's sources
- Awaiting fixes from slaid480 and Jekle_Ace
-Removed LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpaperPicker.apk because they were FCing

I tried , but there was no root
New build uploaded , feels very unlaggy now
To get root:
Flash cf-root b82 , then flash the OC Kernel (CF-Root gives root , OC Kernel gives OC and restores bootanimation)
Pardon me if i am wrong, I heard that the build file will be very small compared to the stock ROM ( About half the size). This AOSP ROM is 80 Mb. Is that normal?
Thanks

Which overclock.ko and symsearch.ko are you using? It could be that you have incompatible ones. The Milestone (A853) has the 2.6.32 froyo kernel, but we're stuck with 2.6.29 eclair kernel. In particular symsearch.ko had to be adapted for 2.6.29. The versions on our github have been modified and recompiled for 2.6.29: https://github.com/CyanogenModXT720...sholest/tree/gingerbread/prebuilt/lib/modules (note that overclock.ko requires a working symsearch.ko is loaded first)
I installed it and it is pretty good at the first look. You can install it using the xt720 bootfix, the only thing missing are gapps and i tried installing them after, but it doesnt work for me. Average RAM is about 50-60 M and it runs pretty smooth, hope to see more from you soon
EDIT: After reboot the gapps appeared

I had a little chinese everywhere in the beginning but after 2reboot all were gone. The only thing is that the OK is on the right and the cancel is on the left (not a big deal but it surprise at the beginning...)
App2ext works fine; the playstore too; and youtube too
I can t take pics with the camera (it launch it but don t answer after) edit: i try again and it take a picture but fc just after...
edit2:after a few uninstall (dspmanager; gtalk...) i sucess to take a picture in 8Mo (it was long....) and i film in 720p but i can t open it (and when i take the film it was very slow about 1image/s...)
I don t try a lot for the moment but it seems to be a really good one!!!
I think i will try it for the week end...
Thanks a lot lwxddlqkillapp
