Hallo,
The backcover of my HD2 was damaged. So i ordered an nieuw backcover and i replaced. Now i have no speeker and no gps. Can somebody tell me where this is on the mailboard. Is the problem maybe the metal plates under the screws.
Please help=
There's a thread on HD2 disassembly if you search around. Check this link out though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL-jnUKufC4. You can see how the hardware is laid out and see what may be damaged
Check to see if your gps (white) coxial cable is loose and if your speaker is plugged in (top of the motherboard, next to the flash/camera assembly and vibrator.

I have an XDA2 which works perfectly except the back light does not work. I dropped it in water. everything has returned ok except the backlight. the software is ok but I think that the bulb or what ever lights is broken. Any one know how to open up the XDA2 and if so how do I get the particular item?
It is quite easy to open the xda 2. You need a number 6 torx screwdriver and a small crosshead jewellers screwdriver. One of the screws is under the sticker bottom left of xda2. The top black plastic cover can be popped off. Once the screws are out you will need to get a thumbnail or similar and run it around the seam which will pop the plastic catches. If you remove the motherboard be very careful when releasing the flat connecter that links the screen to the motherboard. I dont know if the light is seperate from the board but once you have it open it would be a good idea to look at all chips and solder under a loupe or magnifying glass to see if there is any residue bridging pins and gently scrape away.
Try only to keep pressed the power switch...
Bye, M..

Thanks for the information. Have tried holding the on/off switch down many times.

Thank you for the information on opening. Will let you know how I get on. Have one more avenue to try first.

What I am curious about is where did you find a TyTN replacement display...
I had no luck finding one and resorted to sending my device to HTC in the UK for (expensive) repair.
The basic steps for opening the phone.
(This is a rough description from my memory...)
1. Remove the back cover, battery, sim, SD card etc...
2. remove four screws using torx 6 screwdriver from back (1 is in the corner in thel anyard loop and one is under the warranty "void" sticker)
3. Work your way around the grey plastic part you have just unscrewed until it snaps off.
4. Remove a 5th torx screw in a well right next to the camera lens
5. remove full electronics board - it will be attached on the bottom with a connector covered with tape - carefully remove the tape until you can unplug the connectorized ribbon).
6. Unscrew 4 Phillips screws to remove the bottom tray from the display assembly (slide ribbon through the hole)
7. Unscrew 4 phillips screws from display assembly corners
8. Work your way around the rim with a tiny flat screwdriver - unless you have a special plastic tool for this (careful not to bruise the plastic) to open the display assembly
9. Remove 2 phillips screws holding the PCB underneath the display and one from the board above the display
10. disconnect the display ribbon (may be under some yellow tape) from its connector in lower left corner (looking from the back) by lifting the latch part and pulling the ribbon out.
11. Unhook the display with the electronics and peel some sticky electronics from the display back.
12. Reverse these steps with the new display...
Let me know if this help / you have questions.
Hi
Forgive me if this has been posted before, but this is my 1st post here & need a little 1to1
My touch screen on my Qtek 9100 stopped working a few days ago, the phone is ok, i can make calls & use the manual keypad.
The phone was left uncharged for a few days & when i went to use it again the touch screen was not working.
There is a dent in the screen that i did not notice before, its only about 1cm, actually its more of a scratch than a dent.
The screen looks fine, no cracks or black spots visable.
No life from the screen, whatever part i touch.
Can someone advise me on what to do to get back up & running.... I have already done this.....
Hard & soft resets
Installed latest ROM.
Phone is currently stuck on the the "touch screen to setup your mobile device screen"
I have already ordered a new touch screen from the net,
should i just change the touch screen or are there other things to try first?
Any advice welcome like
(links to how to change the screen)
Cheers
any luck? im having the same proble but with my atom exec and everyone seems slightly blank on this
When the touchscreen went bad on mine, it turned out the cause was a tiny, almost invisible hairline crack in the touchscreen's ribbon cable which severed one of the wires. I had to use a magnifying lens to see it.
It was possible to test with a multimeter. On the back of the LCD is a piece of clear tape covering where the touchscreen ribbon is soldered to the LCD. You will need to lift the tape to expose 4 wires from the touchscreen. With pressure on the screen, there should be a resistance around 1.2kohms between pins 1&2 and the same between pins 3&4. On mine, pins 3&4 were open circuit.
To fix mine, I didn't change the screen. I removed the touchscreen ribbon from the main LCD (accidentally tearing the solder pads off the ribbon - I wasn't sure how it was attached). Then I used an X-acto knife and scraped off some plastic from each side of the break. Then I soldered a TINY piece of copper wire no thicker than a hair across the break (a single strand from a stranded wire). Since I accidentally tore the solder pads off the ribbon, I scraped off some plastic from the copper traces there and soldered some wire to them and soldered that to the LCD. That did the trick, it's all working now!
i have this same problem.. i was using the qtek with the cracked digitizer but when i did the hard reset it took me to this screen. is there anyway we can get off this screen? help plz!!
I dont know if anyone opend their wizard up.... mine is the tmobile mda..
the earpeice does not work when the slider is closed... or halfway...
the keyboard has to be slid completly open for any sound to be heard...
i know its a loose connection somewhere in the slide.... anyone know how to fix it?...
just started happening a few hours ago.
and now neither works... only works in speakerphone... wth is going on
It sounds as if your rigid flex cable is kicking it,
However your phone speaker could just be loose. It is affixed to the front plate and not the Rigid flex board.
I would try to troubleshoot with a dissassembly.
if the main ribbon cable is torn you should replace the rigid flex board. If your speaker is loose or broken You can look on XDA to see if someone is selling one.
ok.. i just read the service manual on how to dissassemble the wizard...
i just want to get a few things straight...
the rigid flex board is the board for the keyboard right?...
ribbon cable is that big thick silver ribbon right?...
if said cable is torn... i have to replace the entire rigid flex board? or can i just replace the ribbon cable instead?
if the speaker is loose... all i would have to do is tighten it... if it is broken .. all i have to do is replace it right?...
------
im sure the speaker isnt broken.... because it was working when the slider was slid open... and not working when it was closed.

Hi there bigjoe,
where did you find the service manual for the Wizard? I have audio problems myself (the mic and speaker just died, i can´t hear anything and the caller can´t hear anything, but the damn thing rings nonetheless!) and my warranty is up. So I would like to take a peek inside!

Ok, Here are the answers in order.
The rigid flex board is the board you see in the top portion of the wizard (where the screen and buttons are housed.)
The master ribbon cable is the big thick silver one yes.
I would replace the board it could just as well cause problems.(it's not too expensive)
If it is loose re-seat it in it's place. If broken replace it.

Have your first tried hard reset?
It sound as if your master cable is or rigid flex board going, but it could simply be your speaker and mic.
The service manual is here:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BEG0XKM8
Hope this helps you.

I have the same problem, mic doesn`t work after a drop, I bought the flex cable of ebay, but I`m a bit confused on how to install it,
I follow some guides on you tube, but normally they require to remove the screen, and that would be very difficult not to break it,
Any help please?
