I have found the solution for MY large battery drain:
The problem has been, that my phone used 5% of battery per hour when it’s merely lying around. The battery graph was a straight, quickly decreasing line. So the culprit was not something that happend from time to time but always.
One very disturbing thing: The indicators below the battery graph shows when phone, Wifi and the screen were on. In additions it shows when the phone has been awake.
Even if the screen was off and I did not touch the phone, the „Awake“ indicator constantly showed every minute for a very short time. So the phone never went to sleep, it woke up constantly all the time. Sorry, unfortunately I don’t have a screen capture for this.
Deactivating automatic updates for applications and setting the Emails to sync never didn’t help. I even erased all the Samsung crapware from the system folder, but to no use. The battery died after one day of not doing anything with the phone.
Then I deactivated syncing of the contacts and the calendar for my WindowsLive-Exchange account and the battery drain stopped. I now have less than 1% per hour (see screenshot) when the phone is simply lying around.
So, for me the culprit is the syncing for contacts and calender via Exchange. Unfortunately there is no option to set the sync interval for these.
- Anyone can reproduce this issue?
- Is this just a problem with WindowsLive Exchange or does this happen with other Exchange accounts too?
- Is there a possibility to set the sync interval for contacts and calendar (somehow, maybe via a config file)?
There seems to be something seriously different if not broken in GB 2.3.3. Apps that work perfectly fine in Froyo are keeping GB 2.3.3 from going to sleep. I've isolated several apps that either keep the screen from shutting off or keep the device constantly awake even when it it's no longer running/cached/screen is off. And, these are programs that work perfectly fine in Froyo and do not cause idle drain. Wonder if this is something 2.3.4 addresses...

I have frozen:
social hub, email (i use another one), and few more programs that I dont use but noticed that they stay on without any reason,
if 3G or wifi is ON battery drain is prery bad, I guess this is a bug in 2.3.3 as cmd512 said.
Last night I turned off wifi and 3g and made sure that wifi share + manager are off (they can be turned off easily if u untick "use wifi" in location settings menu)
so with everything off for 7 hours sleep (dont rly need my phone while sleeping) battery was down 2% only :O
the moment I turn on 3G Android OS use jumps to the skies :X

Hmmm..it could be. I will try this also. First I just take the contacts out, because that is not so necessary for me. Calendar is pretty necessary for me and emails are a must. If I have to take the calendar out, then so be it. I will manually sync it once a week then.
By the way, I just noticed that with my gmail account the sync icon is constant in the calendar.
Now when I unchecked it and checked back it went away after a while.
I am not sure if it was sycning all the time without luck. Lets see.
I think calendar synch is on of the probleme. With calendar sync my phone drain 5% per hour in idle mode without 1% by one or two hours.
It's quite strange that there's quite a lot of these threads now all saying about how bad the battery is but I'm amazed by how good the battery is. I don't use my phone a huge amount especially at work and when I get home I use it for a quick web browse and the occasional text message and phone call. Most days I will still have 80% or more left by 23:30 having been on since 07:15. Today I checked my phone at 12:30 and the battery had only gone down 1% in just over 5 hours. All I did with it from 07:15 was occasionally take it out of sleep but not unlock it to check for any notifications. Since then I've been using the web (data) for about half hour or so, an hour of music listening and texting and right now I have 77% left after 12.5 hours off charge. Therefore I think my SGSII has the best battery life I could ask for.

Really depends on what apps you have running, as you can see from my original thread on this "Awake all the time during idle" issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094666
But in general, agreed. Once I got rid of that bug, the device has been fantastic with battery life. And, for a stock ROM, that's damn impressive!

I fully agree. Now that I don't have the "wake-up" issue anymore, the battery lifetime is almost as good as the Omnia7 -that's damn impressive for a modern Smartphone with such a hardware!
For me, I turned off my wifi, gps and "my location". And most importantly, my applications are not running when it is on idle. Go to task manager by holding the home folder and click exit all. Or you might try to clear the ram memory.
i have turned off gps, wifi and syncing but still getting battery drains can´t even last for a whole day. But I installed Litening ROM just now and see if this helps . I was on KE2 before flashing custom rom

I have noticed the same issue trying to sync to a exchange 2003 account. It seems that my calendar is syncing either every minute or about every 20 minutes. I also noticed the same issue with my gmail calendar. I have tried two different phones and reset each one several times. The same problem keeps occurring. I may have to download touchdown for email, contacts and calendar. It just sucks because then I will have two calendar applications (one for work and one for home). This is very frustrating.
Are you still having issues with echange calendar sync?
After updating to KE7, I have noticed that every time I receive an exchange email the screen wakes up for a second or two and goes to sleep again.
Didn't occur on previous firmware. Anyone else with this issue and a possible fix?
Is social hub the best solution for IM? I would like to have Yahoo and MSN messengers on always, so should I use another less power hungry client? When people mention calendar synch is it google calendar they're talking about? My google calendar is important for me, so how to optimize it?

Yes, unfortunately. I am now syncing manually with a switch on the homescreen.
I am now hoping for Android 2.3.4 to fix this issue.
Have a look at comment #290:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11126#c290
I have an X10i with Jerpelea's CM7 with custom kernel and that had a very annoying deep sleep issue (the phone never went deep sleeping) which caused the battery to drain very quickly, but Temoi19 found out that by disabling automatic time updates and manually selecting the operator, made the phone to deep sleep. So I took a shoot and tried the same trick on my new Galaxy S II and now when idle my phone barely eats power. After over an hour after unplugging I was still at 100%. I don't know if I am just lucky, but it is worth a try

I also have this issue with my sgs2. I looked into the exchange settings and there is the option to change the syncing. It was set to push, I now i changed it to manual and will report back the results tomorrow. The drain in general only occurs when mobile data is enabled here. Didn't try with wifi yet.

You can leave the syncing to push, it's just for the EMails and they're working fine.
I'd propose to disable the calendar and contact sync in Einstellungen -> Konten -> Automatisch synchronisieren

according to the logs if there are no changes in contacts or calendar both will be synced only once per day. so this should not be the issue.

I am using the CDMA hero, but this should apply to anyone with a Hero (although our GSM friends have probably figured this out long ago.) Feel free to move my post if you like.
So I too was experiencing extreme battery draw down. I considered the SMS issue with perpetual awake times but after isolating the issue, I was still hitting 30% after after 12 hours with only moderate use. I found that unacceptable considering my Treo has been in standby for 2 weeks now and the battery has not budged. Solution? Turn of Google background services.
I know it hurts to have to manually refresh email, contacts, and calendar, but the return is almost zero battery drain (unless you are actively playing with the phone.) I know this is an obvious fix and I read it elsewhere online when I first got the phone. However, I am addicted to Gmail so I was really hesitant to turn it off. The background services option seems to keep a constant data connection when I really just want it to check my email every 15 minutes or so and update my calendar and contacts once a day. Has anyone found a way to limit the update frequency without the HTC widget. (I prefer the stock Android Gmail client.)
I do not know about the frequency of Gmail syncing,
but the main battery saving trick for me
is to turn the mobile data connection completelly off
when i know i will not (or want not) to be online
for a longer period of time (e.g. in the night, longer car drives, etc)
i am using the build-in htc widget for this
Thanks. That is a pretty good solution. Still wish I could curtail the sync frequency though......
So we need to re-enable it when we want to visit the Market, right? Annoying but if it improves battery life, then not a big deal.
hi,
I would like to know how often you recharge your Hero?
With moderate to low usage I'm recharging every day and I'm thinking that autonomie on my Hero is really very bad. Before I used Polaris and I had to recharge every 2 or 3 days.
I'm thinking that maybe my phone have manufacture default. On official web page they say that autonomy on standby is 440 hours, its like 15 days, mine keeps barely 1 day, wtf!!!
Even during night when I don't use it all and put on plane mode battery loses 20%.
whitealien
i recharge everyday with mild usage. gaming - usually keep it plugged in.
with moderate usage i recharge my GSM Hero every 2-3 days. by moderate i mean, like 1h Wifi, 2h mp3, 0.5h phone usage, 1.5h online activity over 3G.
Thats about it. And even if i multiply the usage above by two, it will last two days.
During flightmode inthe night, it loses about 5-10%.
so it seems something is sucking really bad on your battery!
Cheers,
Chaos42
I would say I charge mine every 2-3 days. I'm a relatively low user but wifi is on all of the time and I use it for browsing a bit in the evenings when I don't have my PC turned on. GPS, mobile web and bluetooth is off for the most part.
My wife has the same phone and her battery life is a little shorter than mine but she has the mobile web on and uses hers a bit more then me so I would guess around 1.5-2 days.
My battery is rated at 1350mAh which I think is standard.
I have to charge it every day.
Unplug it from charger at 0700 and by 2200 it has less than 10% battery.
But I have WiFi on for over twelve hours a day, mobile web on and quite a few things updating online!
Background apps may be draining your battery
Hi whitealian,
Check the application list to see which applications are running in the background. One of them may be draining your power.
You can check the task list using Estrongs File Explorer (start the app, then menu->Task Manager). There are plenty of other task managers, of course...
In my case, I think it was ShopSavvy that was running in the BG. Once I removed it the battery performance was much better. See this post.
You can also use one of the apps that turn on/off wifi based on location. A quick market search finds "Y5 - Battery Saver". Haven't tried it myself yet!
Good luck!

Thanks for advice. I was not using ShopSavvy, but I had doubts that either I got faulty device or some app is draining battery.
I called customer service and they advice me to put phone in safe mode and test it for awhile. It extended a little my battery life, but still recharge every day. Next step was to reset to factory default. This is what I did yesterday and now I'm at the end of second day since last charge and I still have 40% left, what seems to be normal, but still a little to early to judge that everything is good.
I still don't know from where battery drain was coming. Probably from some app.
I'm putting my bet on NewsRob - google feed reader. It was the only app that was using network in background (apart from mail and tweeter sync).
too often. mostly once a day.
but when i'm at home im ususally plugging the as adaptor in either way, because i'm afraid to have to little battery left if i leave the house without a 100% battery level. (this can happen fast if you sync a lot of rss feeds, surf the net, have an exchange server connection and gmail push and so on...)
They really need to make better batteries. They should last 2-3 days on full force usage.

I wish it could
I think once every 2 days, but at night I have the ''phonestuff'' turned of using it as an alarm clock only. I do use the mobile internet connection all day. Tried once without that and got almost 4 days out of one charge.
I agree they have to make better battery's but I don't think the hero's that bad.
I had a diamond wich I had to charge almost twice a day when data was on...
So for me the hero's a big improvement.
I too get 2 to 3 days use out of a charge. Got rid of standard HTC Twitter client and replaced with Twidroid Pro. Only have Gmail push synchronization on.
I am pretty sure you are aware if the standard HTC SMS app battery drain issue?
Someone pointed out that HTCs SMS app constantly drains the battery, because it stopps the phone from entering standby mode. You can replace it by going into Applications menu, open "Messages", "Clear defaults" and install HandCent. As soon as a new SMS comes in, it will ask you which app you want to handle SMS messages. Choose HandCent, make it default and you are set.
Gave me a huge battery performance boost.
every day. that is the only bad issue of my hero.
I charge mine daily when I go to bed as it's usually giving me the 15% warning about 24hrs after I last charged it.
The joys of smartphones
At least once a day.
I've got a desk stand so it sit's in that for a constant juicing up, when im in the car I put it on to charge.. At work its on USB charge.. Basically I just juice it whenever I can..
I dont think theres anything wrong with yours.. they just have bad battery life.
If you think thats bad try the fossil palm powered watches.. i have to take it off every couple of hours to charge it!
Too often. Exchange, gmail, 1 additional pop3 inbox, facebook every 2hrs, twitter every 2hrs is enough for my phone to barelly hold a charge for a day. But when actually using the phone (music, calling), it doesn't hold even a day.

That's a US only thing though, right? The European ones don't suffer with that issue AFAIK.
...Which I'm glad about as I sometimes have to charge my hero twice a day. Data is on all the time when I'm out and I'm a pretty heavy user of it. In terms of calls perhaps an hour a day, and not a huge number of texts (more than ten would be unusual). I do use the phone to listen to music quite often too.
I think the apps in the background thing is what needs to be checked. I use a news widget and Facebook and Weather and a travel one which I think adds up to a lot of refreshes. I'm thinking about making a Sense Profile (or whatever it's called) that has nothing on the homescreens at all for times when I might want to be a bit more frugal with battery life.
I do think it's somewhat ridiculous that the phone is capable of doing so many things but that if you have it do them it withers and dies. I would've thought the way to calculate battery life would be to have the phone doing the things that people will want to do with it and work from there. It seems that battery life is calculated by turning the phone into as dormant a state as possible and then tip toeing around it trying not to disturb it.
I get by though.

Well, I cannot confirm that. I have a European one and mine drained the battery. I searched the net and with this trick I came from ~1 day to over 2 days with moderate usage and push enabled all the time.

Well, have you cleared the default for message application?
You probably want to google it or just read over this posts:

My battery went even better once I configured Locale to go into airplane mode during night time and stopping sync services during work time. I don't need push when I am at work (timescal set, no GPS), because there I have all my mailboxes open and directly connected.
Some more tipps to improve battery performance.
Disable 3G - Set to "only 2G" in mobile network settings
Set display timeout to 30s or lower
Remove as many widgets from your homescreens as possible (I only have calendar)
use task killer app to check which apps are still running in the background and try to tweak their settings to not autoload or don't notify you on updates - and of course kill them
disable screen animations
uncheck WLAN for location checking
don't check your mailboxes too regular
disable vibration totally. disable haptic feedback for the keyboard as well
Hi, sorry if this has been asked, but I'm a follower of the entire Nexus One forum, and could not find it.
It drive me nuts I cannot find how to set synchronization for the Gmail account. I want to have it check for mail every 15 or 30 minutes, and not continuously as how it looks is happening now. I think this is one of the reasons my battery drains so fast in standby.
Is this possible? ( I almost swear I saw it once, maybe at initial setup of the Nexus), or it's just my ex WinMo thinking?
Regards,
Alin.
As far as I know Gmail is push, no?
I need the answer too, but it seems that it is pushed mail.. it draws the battery quickly.
I leave my sync on and don't seem to have any significant battery life problems... I mostly leave my phone in 2g mode though, activating 3g/wifi when I actually want to do something.
I charge once a day when I am sleeping usually, but it seems fine to me.
Someone please correct me if Im wrong.
Im under the impression that Push email allows Gmail to stay completely idle until a wireless msg is sent and activates the updating process.
Thuse greatly reducing battery since it only has to check when told to instead of periodically.
Unless of course your constantly getting emails in which case it may be ALWAYS being told to check.
Guys, how long does the N1 need have to last. I life in an area where I can charge the N1 every night while I'm sleeping. It is set to Autosync with GMail and I use it quite a lot, maybe around 40-60 min. Internet and a few minutes phone and a few SMS and (at least now to get used to my new toy) a lot of playing around and about 30 min MP3 a day. It's empty when I go to bed but who cares? I got power beside my bed and do charge it while I sleep. That's how it should be, or? If I'm away and maybe don't have a power grid (where the heck is this today, in the middle of a dessert or rainforrest?!) and need more than a day than I would switch off the Internet and syncing and put down to display brightness.

The topic has less to do with how long the battery has to last and more about how do you change the GMail app to poll for new mail rather than relying on push. Mail sent to GMail account is by no means urgent and I for one don't want to drain my battery for a feature that I do not need.
For those that are skeptical that push technology drains the battery - the following is a quote from GMail's blog regarding the GMail app for WinMo (sorry I can't post the link due to user restriction): "Once you're set up, new messages are normally pushed to your phone within seconds. While this type of speed is pretty awesome, push connections tend to use more power than fetching at intervals, so don't be surprised if your battery life isn't quite what it used to be."
Anyways, I haven't found a way to change the GMail application to a poll model rather than push so as an alternative I've setup K9-Mail against my GMail account and have it poll on a regular interval and disabled the GMail application altogether.
So you want your Gmail account to update at a predifined interval (like every hour?)?
This is simple: Open up the Email App (NOT Gmail), and enter your full gmail account ([email protected]) and password. It will set up your Gmail account in the Email app. In this app press Menu > Account Settings, and set the email check frequency to your liking. You can also set other options like delete emails from the server when you delete them on the Email App.
In this way you will use the Email app to check emails, meaning you can turn auto-sync off and save battery.
You could also sync your email account once. Then turn off sync. And manually sync your email anytime you want to check for new mail. Since it's not "urgent" as you said.
Or do as melterx pointed out.
Thanks guys for all solutions provided. I'll test them out and see what's happening
Answering to the guy who mentioned about how long should battery last, well, I'm simply not used to charge my phone daily. I had Touch HD before the N1, and with same usage (phone calls, gmail sync, internet) I had almost 3 days with a full charge.
Well, I'm still blaming the "new phone" factor for my battery draining problem, and I mean by this that I'm simply using it too much compared to a normal, "already used to it", usage.
But again, there are other topics for battery usage, so let's keep this only for email sync options
turn off auto-sync. when you want it to fire up, fire it up, then shut it down again. i went all day today, and ran less than half the battery off, because it wasn't polling over and over and over...
I'm not sure how much push drains the battery. One of my Gmail accounts is a work account. I have it and my personal email on push. Went for 10 hours, got about 40-45 emails with several calls and numerous text messages and still went down to 57%. I do have my phone on 3G most of the day(gotta love Atlanta).
The following thread on the XDA Desire forums was pointed out to me on androidforums by marabuchi. I did what was recommended and everything seems good so far.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666404
"UPDATE APRIL 28 2010: PERMANENT SOLUTION FOUND?: Remove Flickr Sync. Go to Settings>Accounts & Sync>Flickr. Then press remove account at the bottom of the screen and reboot the phone - Please report back in the thread if successful! "
I don't have Flickr sync on anyways haha.
after a week of haveing it I stopped messing with it every 2 seconds... and dont have your accounts update every 15 minutes all it does is eat away our battery... I have all mine set for every2 hours and my battery lasts just fine unless I'm playing a game or something ... I even use slacker radio for over an hour a day and it barely used up 2% of my battery for the day
I realize that not everyone is having this issue specific issue, but this sure helped my battery life.
I am now at 31 hours uptime, 2 hours awake time since the last time I charged my battery. My updates are at 4 hours (I'll normally go into the app and refresh), GPS is enabled, Always Connected is on, and I use the phone pretty regularly throughout the day. I have 5 battery bars currently.
Anyway, helped me, figured someone else might be in the same boat.
Thanks
Didn't change anything for me, my calender was normal.
I get probly like 14 hours max on my battery, gps off, always data off, wifi off, screen low, only thing updating every hour is weather. I mostly text and do some web surfing, seems quite a bit low of battery life.
Gmail or Exchange?

I am now at 31 hours uptime, 2 hours awake time since the last time I charged my battery. My updates are at 4 hours (I'll normally go into the app and refresh), GPS is enabled, Always Connected is on, and I use the phone pretty regularly throughout the day. I have 5 battery bars currently.
Anyway, helped me, figured someone else might be in the same boat.
Thanks

I have Google set to sync gmail, but not contacts/calendar. No exchange, and have Hotmail setup with manual refresh.
As a quick update, battery life for me has still been great with pretty much everything turned on. Going about 2 days before having to charge.
I know this issue has been posted in forums for other devices, but I haven't seen anything about it for NC. I did try to search the NC forums but couldn't find anything that seemed to address this problem.
I am using MIUI 1.7.22. I have noticed significant battery drain due to Android OS (in battery stats), suspend (in the systempanel app), and event/o (also in systempanel). I have disabled auto-sync and any apps that appear to be likely culprits (those that might attempt to download data). This problem seems to appear with wifi on or off, and when on, I have tried both setting it to never turn off and to turn off when the screen is off. Initially I was experiencing battery drain due to cell standby, which I took care of by disabling the telephony provider, phone, and mms apks. I know many don't believe this has an effect, but I did it anyway. The cell standby drain is gone, but now I'm fighting the drain due to these other factors. Has anyone found a fix for this?
After scouting around for info, I have tried some suggestions seen elsewhere: rebooting and wiping dalvik cache. So far today I haven't had any Android OS, etc. issues. Standby life with screen off is as it should be (for now and hopefully forever)--very slow battery drain.
This is with wifi set to never shut off, which I prefer.
Suspend etc. came back last night although not as extreme as before. Hopefully some other folks will have things to add to this thread. I will continue posting progress info as I learn more about this.
From the code.google.com forums:
Confirm heavy battery drain with enabled Location & Security -> Use wireless networks / Use GPS satellites. I've disable both options and now my battery life is normal.
With enabled "Location & Security" options battery eaten by "Android OS" process (about 40-55%).
I will try this and report back.
Disabling WIFI and GPS in location/security had no effect. There appears to be a google process that prevents the system from sleeping.
I was still experiencing random battery drain due to Android OS, suspend, event/0 after switching to cm7. One suggestion I read was to disable calendar sync, as this appears to be a runaway process that attempts to connect to the server constantly without allowing the device to sleep. Doing this allowed me to get through the night with very little drain and the Android OS, etc. processes were finally behaving (within normal limits).
I'm not sure if anyone is reading this thread but I will continue to update until I figure out the solution, as I imagine this problem will become more noticeable to others who are equally frustrated with this issue.
Having same problems on my galaxy s2. Lots of people have this problem and think it's a problem with the os. What os version are you using?

Right now I'm using cm7 (2.3.5) but I was using MIUI before. Turning off calendar sync has worked well so far.
I had bad battery drain in the past and no deep sleep. but what worked for me was not to use any live wall paper. this fixed my deep sleep issues. for the battery drain, re-set your battery stats and re boot a couple of times for the stats to settle down. also check google map and latitude. in latitude just log out. un-checking sync in my yahoo email app also helped with my battery drain. my wifi is set at, off with screen. I went from 20 -30% drain in 7hrs to now 1-3% in 7hrs
I hope any of this info can help

Thank you, boxcar. I had tried all of those things (froze live wallpaper, reset battery stats, reboot, froze maps and latitude) but the only thing that worked for me was unchecking the box for calendar sync. Email sync and wifi appear to be non-issues--no difference between off or on. Evidently this google calendar sync bug is a known issue (that very few people seem to know about!). I hope google will fix this soon.
I also have same problem on my Galaxy S2. These two(events/0, suspend) drain many battery, 14% one night, without WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth.
I'll keep on tracing this issue, and share the result in this thread.

Turning off autosync seems to help the most (although setting WIFI to turn off when the screen turns off appears to help, as well). I tried using an autosync toggle but just turning it on at all seemed to result in a gradual creeping up of the Android OS, etc. problems. Manual sync of calendar and perhaps gmail and contacts seems to be the way to go. For some reason, exchange mail set to push results in no problems. The other trick I've found is to go to applications, then calendar and calendar storage, and force stop, delete cache, and THEN manual sync of calendar (reboot, recovery, wipe dalvik, fix permissions are good ideas, too). When I flash nightlies, I go through this process and the offending processes work as they should. If I don't, problems appear sooner or later.
I've had my nook on for 9 hours now, WIFI on (off with screen off) and 30 minutes of display on time. I've lost 9%, so I think I'm on the right track. This is how it should work, I.think. Of course, the results SHOULD be the same with autosync on, but manual sync for good battery life is an acceptable small tradeoff in my opinion.

For the noobs in the audience, how exactly does one turn off autosync? Where is it located?
Thanks in advance.

Menu, settings, accounts and sync (I leave background data checked).
I found part of the root cause, maybe some old application - can work on new version, but drain many battery. Today I uninstalled the 'Android photo widget', then only 1% battery has been drained within 2 hours when standby. Not totally solved the issue, but seems OK.
I guess you can also try this, find another 'bad' application which drains your battery.
Well guys, I'm not sure if I'm the last Nook Color user to continue fighting with this super annoying headache (I know SGS2 users are, too), but I think I'm on to something. I thought calendar sync was the culprit (and perhaps it was), but the Android OS drain (featuring nemeses suspend and event/0) would not go away and the arrival of this problem continued to be (apparently) random. I had an idea that, if the calendar sync kept alternating between suspend and event/0, perhaps this was due to old events that caused the sync process to continue longer than it would normally. So, based on this idea and logic, I changed my exchange e-mail account settings to sync email from the last month rather than to sync all mail. Looking at my work e-mail history, I realized I had e-mails in various folders and sent mail from as far back as 2001! Although it's nice to be able to access all e-mail history, perhaps the polling services were constantly monitoring the activity of super old emails and folders, which caused the suspend and event/0 processes to flip out. I don't know if this is the way Android actually works but it seemed logical to me. Well, for the last 24 hours, I have intermittently checked my cpu activity through systempanel, and what do you know, when the device is not being used, suspend and event/0 work as they are supposed to and Android OS stays low in the battery % list. PLEASE let this be the fix! I know there are other factors that contribute to the acting out of these processes, but on a stripped down device with no autosync or widgets and no out of control services identified in systempanel or watchdog, there can't be many other explanations. I'm curious if others with this problem have similar settings on their email accounts. In all the forums on different sites (and I've read a ton of them), I've never seen anything like this mentioned.

Please vote there, and, may be, Google will fix it.
For those still following this thread, here's a tip. Use Gemini app manager (in the market). This has been one of the best tools I've found for managing wakelock issues and battery drain during standby. It allows you to identify apps that start up on their own (more than you think) and prevent them from starting randomly. In my experience this has been a huge cause of the standby drain problem showing up as Android OS, suspend, and event/0 in battery monitors. I'm currently sitting on 81% battery remaining with over 1 hour of screen time after 21 hours since my last charge. I know it's not a lot of usage but it's the standby time that's fantastic.

I've a Galaxy S2. Tried everything, except disable autosync. Was losing 30-40% battery at night. So far since turning off google sync I'm getting about <1% battery use an hour. Will see if it continues. Thanks.
