[Q] Is there any way to run backtrack in webtop? - Atrix 4G General

I was just wondering if there would be any way to run Backtrack in the webtop and if our wifi card in the atrix supports injection? I'm not too familiar with linux but I knew backtrack runs on linux. Didn't know if this is something that could be done but thought it would be pretty cool.
Thanks in advance for any answers/efforts in this!

Thank you. I had never seen that.
Now, the only other question I have is, Does the wifi card in the atrix support injection?

I've been working on getting backtrack 5 in webtop for a few days.

MultiBoot System

Over at samdroid forums an amazing dev had made something awesome in 2010.
Multiboot system.

I am not a dev but yes I am a mod at samdroid, so can some of the amazing devs out here try this for the Atrix, considering we have a beast with 16gb memory and awesome RAM.
Just an idea, not imposing. Please do not flame the thread or me with why dont you try it coz I do not have the capabilities to do so.

i always enjoy new ideas being thrown around, even though i have no developing skills either. regardless, there's already an idea similar to this that has been attempted for the Atrix, but nobody can seem to get it to work. it's called Boot Manager, and we have a talented dev that's been attempting to get it to work for quite some time now, here's the thread he started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191014
This will be absolutely amazing! I'll be able to run CM7 and then dual boot to blur to use webtop and LS HDMI!
+1!

Agreed, multiboot would be amazing.
I have a multifetish for Aura and CM7 that needs a multisolution.

I'm compiling on my Intel i3 4gb of RAM laptop, will let you know how it goes. However, I suggest people who are waiting to build an ICS rom (like myself) wait until superuser gets an update.

building as we speak, going to go to sleep and see what pops out in the morning
I compiled, and I made a zip, but my result was a very buggy ICS rom wasn't usable and then I had no recovery, so i'm stock as store bought now. I might try again. By the way someone already made an ota package, it had 4g featured in it but he didn't have 4g available?
Cm9 build is working well for ns4g but i know there is no superuser so dont touch it unless you know adb really well for system mods.

Who did this? Is it available? I'm searching everywhere for a compiled 4.0.3 ROM for NS4G.
Not that I know of, i'm compiling again but I made a mistake, I forgot to add the proprietary drivers.
I look forward to hearing good news from you! (After you start compiling again.)
I just started compiling again, I haven't slept yet. Sometimes if you don't want to wait, you might have to try yourself. Hopefully there will be good news, after I flash.

whats the minimum req. for a computer to make roms? I have a netbook running windows 7 with 1.2 ghz i3, 2gb ram. will that work? I really want to get into deving.
p.s. My netbook was free. (not really free had to seed a guys lawn for it....lol)
Maybe it will be easier to rebuild from CM9 Alpha. OTA doesn't have face unlock and some other features. I'm being told android beam won't work either. but it's very fast

There isn't any real minimum. But, to make ROM's in half an hour you need 2x4Core Intel Xeon's with 24GB of RAM and 250GB Hard Drive. Or something like that.

Gimmie!!! Gimmie!!!
I havent' flashed it yet, my first time around, the first build booted but it wasn't good..very buggy.

All I want to do is run Ubuntu without playing with too much of this ROM stuff

I don't know what half of it does and I've had worse case scenarios happen before and I'm just scared lol, My asus is rooted and all .... I just wanna run Ubuntu without getting rid of my stock rom or whatever
You prettymuch have to have an nvflashable sbk1 tf101 to dual boot Ubuntu, I believe.

Which you can't with the serials b70 and after due to no nvflash.
that is correct you need sbk1(B70 or lower) to install emmc ubuntu although if you want you can always run it in a virtual machine using terminal and a vnc viewer

Is there a way of running a virtual machine on my transformer? I think I've seen something like this done with Backtrack 5 on a Xoom, but I wasn't aware of any virtualization software available for Android..
So you bought an Android tablet to run Ubuntu...
Why didn't you buy a PC?

Because of the many advantages of ARM chipsets? More efficient power consumption, less heat dissipation, etc.
You could get a net book with a decent battery, an extra gig of ram and whack ubuntu on that.
The more recent atom chips or even amd's are great for that sort of thing.
Could always put a small ssd in it too.
What sort of battery life do you expect from a TF101 with ubuntu?
Asus has promised to release a tool to unlock the Transformer bootloader (at the price of voiding your warranty). When (if?) they release it, you should be able to install Ubuntu on the newer Transformers.

Yes, you will get the OTA update (whichi will remove root, if you just apply it)
BTW, I could imagine creating CWM image for ARM Ubuntu, but as far as I know, nobody did that yet, so it would be a DIY job

Some b70's can some b70's can't so it is generally said that b70's are incompatible just so that people with b70 sbk2's dont complain about things saying that something is compatable with b70 and lower
makes things easier on the devs

That makes more sense. Your OP made it sound like you specifically bought it just to run Ubuntu and didn't care about Android.
hahah yeah sorry :/ it was three am hahaha, but yeah,is there a super simple way to run ubuntu , then go back to my normal android after
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364095
if your tf has sbk_v1. takes 20mins with really just 1 click ^^
after installing in dualboot, you can switch from android to ubuntu and back as you wish...

Loopback kernel support

Are there currently any kernels in the dev section that have loop device support enabled? Trying to get Ubuntu going on this Nexus seven, and that is the only holdup. I appreciate any help with this questions.

to be honest, it's not much really, almost nothing works correctly, and a whole ton of work is needed to make it stable and work right. unless the MyTouch 4G is your secondary, "toy phone", i wouldn't recommend you use it. very buggy indeed lol.
We don't have it yet because ubuntu os is built largely on CM10.1. That is a ***** to build for non-official CM devices (we were official for cm7), it'll get built eventually but in the meantime, its probably a waste of time building.
Allready builded but got problem with ramdisk ... Later will fix .. Do have time now

Awsome i look forward to it.Im ready for something new dont get me wrong i love the roms im on now. But i was burnt out with windows phone after numerous years on it .Not to mention ios . Ubuntu will be a change of pace even though its not quite complete
