usb host mode without holding back? - Vega General

Hey guys, so its great i can get access to my usb sticks on the vega so long as i remember to power up with the back button pressed, but i was juswt wondering if there is a way to get the vega into usb host mode if for whatever reason the device was started without back being pressed?
If not, is there a way to make the default start up selection be inusb host mode?
Thanks

USB Mode needs specific settings in the kernel at boot time. I think Corvus was suggesting an option on one of his ROM's to have host as the default. Otherwise, I believe the POV 1.10 defaults to host.

Thanks for the reply, it would be great if the devs could offer roms with and without usb host mode as default, at least until i can get my head around the android kernel so can offer it up as options.
Thanks

[Q] Disable USB data/enable fast charge mode

Hello,
When I plug my phone into a computer, it automatically enables data sharing either via MTP or PTP. I have no option to NOT share with the computer (or device) that I'm plugged into. For security reasons, I want USB to be in charge-only mode unless I specifically select a data sharing mode. My older Android phones used to work this way, but it seems that someone in their infinite wisdom decided to remove this critical functionality. Is there any way to restore it?
Currently, I am using a power-only USB cable to achieve this, but it is only a workaround and doesn't address the bigger problem. Frankly, I find it a little ridiculous that I can encrypt the device, but anyone can just plug a USB cable into my phone and grab whatever they want off the phone.
I've read that something like this can be achieved by forcing the kernel into Fast Charge mode, but I wasn't able to find much information on this, and I'm not sure if it's even possible to do on the Stock i337 TW kernel. Any help is appreciated.
Phone specs: i337z KK 4.4.2 SHOStock SS ROM
Thanks!

Help with a stuck Onda W975V

Hello, I bought a tablet that had a broken windows. It just boots up to a screen asking for recovery media. Unfortunately when I plugged in a usb keyboard to access bios I decided to fiddle with the usb settings, and result, now usb devices are not recognized I was trying to find a way to make a usb hub to work in order to have a keyboard attached simultaneously with a usb stick, to install windows.
Now I am stuck with this, since I cant find a way to reset the bios, is there anything that can be done since no key combination will reset this and no reset button exists on this tab?
can anybody help out on this matter or is the device a lost cause? Somehow I can't believe, only things I need is a bios reset and a usb hub that allows me to use a bootable usb stick and keyboard for install?

nexus 4 - broken screen and usb debugging turned off

Hi
I have a nexus4 that has a broken screen, it is, it doesnt react to the finger touch, and doesnt have usb debug enabled
What could i do to extract the files from there?
I have seen that connecting a mouse via usb is not an option as this device is not compatible with that, so i think the only option i have is to flash the device to have usb debugging enabled
Is there any other option i can explore?
Thanks
I am sure that you can enter your recovery assuming that your power + vol button is still functioning.
Try to connect your device using Wug Tool and use the tool to back up all the files.
Give it a try and let us know.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks
Yes, i can get in recovery, but, i assume i would need to unlock the bootloader first, isnt it? If i do it, i will erase all the documents inside
Hi
I have tried getting into recovery, but, as expected, as usb debugging is not enabled, i cant see the device from adb
So, the key question is... how can i enable usb debug in a device with the screen broken and with bootloader locked, without wiping the data?
Thanks
It is possible to turn on usb debugging?
I have clean phone - after factory reset.

Device doesn't connect to PC

Hi everyone,
I see this is an issue that is being extensively talked about but after trying many solutions proposed by many users I am still out of luck, there is no way I can connect my device to a PC. USB debugging is on, USB config is set to MTP, USB drivers are installed.... but still, no luck, won't connect.
This means that I cannot even unlock the bootloader the official way since the phone goes undetected. I am on MIUI 7 Global Stable MALCNDE and I cannot upgrade to MIUI 8.... because if I reboot to stock recovery from Updater, the phone will reboot to a fancy diagram advising me to plug in a USB cable. Also, if I try to reboot to recovery by holding power/vol +, the phone boots in some terrifying recovery in chinese, with only four options that are translated. One of them is recovery and if I click on it.... I get that fancy looking diagram.
So please, any advice on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Did you tried the official MiFlash app? http://api.bbs.miui.com/url/MiFlash

Help Screen Broken, Need To Enable MTP Mode

I just dropped my phone and the screen no longer works but the phone does. I plugged it into my computer but I remember that when I have done that in the past I had to change it from charging mode to MTP mode using the screen. Is there anyway to change the phone to MTP mode without using the screen so I can get my files off of the phone?
Thanks
