running cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC0 on my NC.
i like it.
i hate the nook for android app from the marketplace.
when i ran nooter on my 1.2 stock, it left me with two launchers: b&n and zeam.
does that mean there might be a way to run dual launchers on cyanogenmod, with the 1.2 b&n stock launcher?
is this even possible or am i stuck looking at a dual boot scenario?

Reader.apk is the stock b&n reader, and is protected from being used outside of the stock experience, including in other launchers. It cannot be copied to work outside of stock and will not appear outside of the b&n interface even tho you are rooted

just found this quote. it has been my experience that any defensive wall can be scaled given enough time and ingenuity. anyone have additional information on these protective measures?

So I've rooted the Glacier, and have successfully installed CM7 Build number 3. Everything seems to work great (knock on wood). What I can't figure out is how to get the app launcher to display as the new 2.3 app launcher where you see the apps at the bottom before they appear on the screen (kind of like they are on a cube). Right now it just looks like 2.2. I know this is probably a simple for fix but for the life of me, I can't find it.
I tried searching app launcher and no one has said anything yet. Much obliged

CM7 uses ADW Launcher, which doesn't support the 3d app drawer. You can download the Gingerbread launcher from the market for free and use that.
I have a Nook Color 1.2 with ManualNooter. I'm wondering if there's a way to get the market to show tablet (rather than phone) versions of apps that are tablet-optimized. Examples include Engadget, the latest Google Reader, and others.
ManualNooter changes ro.build.fingerprint in build.prop to that of a tablet. I tried adding "ro.build.characteristics=tablet" and changing the LCD density to 200, which I recall once reading. However, there's no change, even after deleting the market's cache, clearing data from Google Services Framework, and deleting/reinstalling the apps I'd like to have run in tablet mode.
Other than switching to CM7 or Honeycomb, is there a way to get true tablet apps to run on the Nook 1.2 software that's been ManualNooter-ed?
Most tablet apps require honeycomb and we do not have a day to day usable port of honeycomb. Looks like your out of luck.

koopakid said it bluntly.
Now if you want sorta tablet-optimized games, look for "HD" in their name.
Also, you can always dual boot honeycomb.
You can also get some tera 2 games to work. Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093390

That and there are not a whole lot of Honeycomb specific apps out there.
Quick background... I have an Asus Transformer so I don't need to convert my Nook Color back to CM7 however I would like to do more on my NC than just read books. The problem is that I MUCH prefer the original B&N Nook app that comes on the Nook Color over the one that I get from the market place after I load CM7.
so... does anyone have the .apk for that app or is that something built into the original B&N rom?
TIA
It's been tried. At least by a few and isn't feasible. I'm not a Dev but if it is possible, and what isn't with the genius available around here, then it's just not worth the effort when there are other ways to keep the stock reader and still be rooted with market access and such.

Thanks for the info. Last time I tried to root and install a different launcher I was unimpressed. But that was almost a year ago.
I specifically want the B&N reader, and the ability to get automatic subscription updates. I've been running rooted B&N 1.4.1 for a bit over a month now, and I've found decent work-arounds for most issues. It's not as trouble-free as CM, but I get all the stock B&N functionality.
I think there's a Zen level of simplicity you have to strive for to get the extra functionality you want without overloading the interface. I've added a very few things to the B&N interface, then pop out to ADW EX Launcher when I want to escape the walled garden. Once I'm outside, it's mostly like running CM. The biggest issue is the white-on-white menu display problem some apps have.
So, I've searched and honestly don't know what different terms to use to find any info.
Nexus 7, unlocked, rooted, TRWP, ADW EX launcher. Team EOS JB.
Moving from screen to screen, the icons or widgets ROTATE on their axis. To the point sometimes I can't even read them. The only way to get them back, is to rotate and back, or to turn it off/on. This is weird. I've never seen this before.
It does NOT happen on stock launcher on EOS JB. I've looked for some settings that might explain this - but I have the same setup on my Xoom, and this never happened.
Any ideas?
I'm guessing adw isn't fully compatible.

Nuts.
Assuming that's the case, can anyone reco a launcher? ADW is the only one I've tried. Lots of work goes into these these so I do not mind buying something. IE ADW EX, as an example.

I am using Nova Launcher with no problems!
Try the free version first, and there is a Prime version which unlocks some other features if you like it!
Nova - heard good things about that one. I'll give it a shot. I try to have my phone and tablets look the same - so may have to Nova-ize the MAXX too!
Thanks!
My NC hasn't had much use in a long time. It's got an old Phiremod on it, 6 or 7, I don't remember.
Anyway, I have a stock N7 and I was wondering how to make the NC look and feel like the N7.
Would one of the JB ROMS for the NC make it look like the N7 or would I have to find the right
lockscreen, launcher, notifier, navbar, etc.?
Thanks,
tlc

I have not seen the Nexus layout, but I would guess it is similar to CM10. The basic layout should be the same, with maybe a few tweaks by CM10.
