I have a Dell streak I got about a year ago, it is a UK o2 version. I've always had users with the phone crashing and not restarting properly (taking the battery out etc )
my Dell streak will now not boot... Sometimes it will boot to the Dell logo but more oftern that not only the buttons light up. This has been happening for the last month or so.. I have not been able to turn the phone on since the becoming of April!
Can someone help me?! I can't post firmware versions as I can't turn it on to check, its on generic on 2.2, updated from 2.1
I have not tried loading any custom firmware or rooted it.
Will Dell look at it? Its over 12 months and orignally aquired from eBay...
Have you tried factory resetting it?
Hold down Vol up+ vol down + power while starting
1st screen pick 'factory reset'
(of course you'll lose all your data, but it should fix any issues if that's an exceptable loss)

thanks for the quick reply, I have tried this a few times before but it does not work. Following those steps the device won't actually boot at all
You might want to try reinstalling the latest 02 rom then
http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Streak_319_12792_21.pkg
put it on your sd card, name it 'update.pkg'
and select 'update from pkg' instead of factory reset in the same menu as previously
Or try running the qdl tool that should fix it also.

I´ve had a look at a few guides for this but can´t see how it would work as it actually requires the streak to be in debugging mode, as it won´t actually turn on i can´t even start any of the guides
I don't think it has to be in debugging mode. Or possibly that's what holding volume up as you plug in the device does... not sure. But the phone is off when you run qdl tool (or at least until qdl tool starts its thing). Regardless you should be able to run it and possibly resurrect your streak whether debugging is ticked or not. There is a tutorial video somewhere. Search for it and give it a go.

If you can throw it into fastboot, run qdl over it. If that doesnt work after running qdl (which you should be able to do if you can at least turn it on) and it still doesnt work normal, send it to dell uk for fixes. Not your provider. If you took it out of the country, lie. Read the warranty you got with it.
When I RMAd mine, I had a replacement in two days and was fortunately able to qdl back to stock.
As the phone was from ebay i have contacted o2 and Dell... Both are unwilling to help.
o2 will not repair even though the warranty is still less than 12 months as i did not buy the phone from them and have no account.
Dell will not replace it as its an o2 phone and they do no support it... after 30 min they offered to replace it for a small fee of £180.
I have tried qdl but the streak shows no signs of life when its connected to the computer, the menu buttons won't even light up. The same goes for trying to start it with the "Vol up+ vol down + power" procedure.
I think i may just have an expensive brick

Do you have latest drivers from Dell that fixed my problem, since you bought it off ebay, you might have an engineer model, which equates brick since it could be totally different from final production model.

THIS GUIDE WORKED ON USA T-MOBILE SAMSUNG VIBRANT BUT MAY VERY WELL WORK ON ALL SAMSUNG GALAXYS PHONES
After reading many XDA-Developers Forum Posts to try and figure out how to get into the Recovery Mode / Download Mode without any success, I gave T-Mobile Support a call.
After the usual noop run-down, "did you take the battery out" questions, I simply asked them how to get the Samsung Vibrant into recovery mode.
Unline the many tutorials that claim to require the Up or Down button pressed, along with the Home button then the Power, the true process is as follows:
1. Press the Up and the Down button at the same time (yes both). I too thought that button was a Toggle which only did either Up or Down, but found that in fact it does do both.
2. At the same time, press the power button.
3. As soon as the Samsung / Vibrant logo comes up on the screen, release the power button.
4. Release the Up and Down buttons.
5. PRESTO
Download Mode from Recovery Mode: Allows File Push through ADB
UPDATE
Once in Recovery Mode, to swith to what I believe is Download Mode, due to the fact that it now allows me to push files to the phone:
Click on the MENU Button from Recovery Mode.
You do relies the people with this download mode problem have hardware locked phones, rite?
Therefore they cant access recovery because the volume buttons dont work
I had a hardware locked vibrant and got to recovery the exaxt same way he described. Ill attest its true. Don't know about download mode though. Sounds interesting.

I can't get it to work. How long do you wait before releasing both volume buttons (step 4)?
You do realize that "hardware locked" means the volume buttons don't work ... right? Otherwise what do you think it means?

Then it wasn't a hardware locked Vibrant...
How do you know if your phone is hardware locked? Is the only impact that you can't get into recovery mode?
This technique has been around for a while and it simply does not work for hardware locked phones. There is no known way to get the HL phones into recovery from a power off.
ive tried this method many times on the 2 vibrants ive had over the past 2 weeks. hasnt worked. although i can get into download mode just fine.
Never mind wrong mode I was trying to describe
He used to think people don't know they should press both volume keys...
I dont think there is such a thing as "hardware locked" vibrants. I know people think they do have one but why would some be locked and others unlocked? It doesnt make any sense, the vibrant has only been out since July.

Whether they are defective or locked the fact of the matter is yea there is such thing, people are not imagining it.
Take me for example My first vibrant was fine...my jackass friend knocked it out of my hand and chipped very tiny piece of the fake chrome bezel. I only had for week so I returned and said it had issues.
I made sure I could access recovery with new phone before exchanging. They only had 2 left both with Sept date. Powered it up and no go, tried couple more time and still nothing...it was locked, we didn't even try 2nd one.
He ended up calling a friend at T-Mobile store in mall and had him look and see if he had any with the same date as the one i was returning "August ".
He had one and he had him test before i drove down....he did and he was able to access recovery, went down to mall and sure enough it was fine, able to get into recover first shot....so yes there is such think as "hardware locked" vibrants

I have flashed a vibrant with a i9000S software but the radio did not work quite well. Since the two have different keys, now i cant get it to boot mode. i was able to get into recovery mode via ADB but all i can do is use vol to go up or down and not select an option. the device wont even get out of recovery mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Yes, some phones are locked. I had to get my Vibrant replaced, and was bitten by a different bug.
I went to my mom's and my niece locked my phone out by entering the wrong pattern incorrectly while it was charging (brand new phone, had to charge it... I typically don't use a pattern lock but since my first one was stolen....).
Now, the phone does not allow you to get into it using your Google Credentials.
Called T-Mobile and the woman said I'd have to send it in for a replacement because it's a "software glitch."
I asked her to try to factory reset it. She said her "researchers told her not to try it because it can brick the phone." We tried anyways.
Hold down both volume keys and power until the Vibrant logo comes up, then release.
Doesn't work. Hung up on her and went to a T-Mobile store. They tried for over 2 hours to factory reset this phone, and spend half the time on the phone with Tech Support to do it. You cannot access recovery mode on this phone. The other Vibrant here, that we checked, also cannot go into recovery mode. It boots straight up into the phone.
So:
1. Lots of Vibrants are unable to get into Recovery Mode/Download Mode
2. There is a bug in Android that will soft brick your phone if you or anyone enters the wrong pattern lock too many times - you will NOT be able to get back into your phone with your Google Credentials - at all. The phone will be useless.
Even though your phone can download emails from Google, and your sending them to yourself using the same login/password, you will not be able to authenticate your phone and unlock it.
Two pretty catastrophic faults, IMO.
When this next phone comes in (it will be brand new, like my first/second one - they're on backorder) - I'm immediately selling it, ETFing my account, and going to go phoneless (can use Google VOIP from a laptop/desktop over WiFi/Internet) and wait for a decent Win7 phone.
I doubt they will have such issues.
BTW, the Android bug I mentioned (not being able to unlock) has existed for 2+ years (since version 1.5 or before) and despite many people bricking their devices (and some devices being unable to hardware reset - like many Vibrants), Google has turned a blind eye to it, and keeps either closing the tickets or setting the priority to "medium" (Bluetooth functionality is critical, however - if you get my point).
For a long time i was under the impression that my phone was HW locked. i was on my last legs before sending out my phone for repair (im past the exchange date) so i called my carrier (Bell Mobility in Canada). They informed me i could do a restore through recovery mode -> to which i informed them that i could not enter after i had tried for 3 days previously. So the rep that i was speaking with advised me to do the following;
Turn phone off
Hold Vol+ & Menu & Power
Once screen displays Samsung release Power while still holding Menu & Vol+
Viola -> RECOVERY MODE
So, this got me thinking because if this got me into recovery mode -> download mode should be similar
Turn phone off
Hold Vol+ & Vol- & Menu & Power
Once screen displays Samsung release Power while still holding Menu & Vol+ & Vol-
Viola -> DOWNLOAD MODE
So, i thought my vibrant was hardware locked when infact it was simply just the wrong key combination to get into each respective mode. Not sure if i just wasnt reading some of the posts correctly or what but thats what worked for me.
That doesn't work on T-Mobile Vibrants.
The phone simply shows the Vibrant screen, then goes black and goes back to the Vibrant screen...
Over and over again. It can do it until the battery runs out. It will never get to the Galaxy S Screen as long as you have that Power Button down.
The only reason yours worked is cause your phone is not defective like many of ours.
I think I'm going to make a YouTube video of me using my Google Credentials (from a computer) to send myself emails while the phone syncs them in the background, yet refuses to allow me to use these credentials to unlock my phone - as well as rebooting to the Vibrant screen over and over again when I try to get into Recovery to reset it.
Because some people on this forum really like to act like problems don't exist, and tend to think their ignorance or operator error invalidates other posters' posts.
Congratulations on not having a defective device, though!
Looked it up and its real

hey guys, i have a gt-i9000m and ive been flashing it with odin with no problems. most recently i went back to bell's stock rom, jh2 i think its called? i decided to try and update with kies to jk4 with the kies registry mod. it downloaded the update and everything fine, and said to wait for the phone to reboot.....i waited and waited and it never turned back on. now it is competely dead, cant get into recovery or download mode, doesnt do a single thing. any help?
also, i tried taking the phone to bell to get repaired, but since i bought it second hand and dont have the P.O.P, they wont do anything to help me. bastards!

will this jig method work on a phone that doesnt even power up at all?
The jig method is a perfect method. Resistance value should be very close to 301k. Dont press any button and dont touch the resistors while inserting.
You should have Galaxy S usb drivers installed.
If you have already installed Kies then follow the nest step.
Jig will take you into Download mode. After that use ODIN3 version 1.7
to flash stock firmware.
Good Luck.
hmm ok ill try this out! ive got a box of resistors, now i just have to figure out how to make 301k....
im a little skeptical that this is gonna be able to revive my phone. i used to have the 3 button ability, now it doesnt even turn on...

This is a 3 button fix released by Bell Canada.
But obviously you have to use the JIG first of all.
Then use ODIN3 version 1.7
1. Select the above mentioned file as a PDA file.
2 . Select the PHONE BOOTLOADER UPDATE option in odin.
3. Remember do not select Re-Partition option.
Press Start. It will fix your 3 button Download mode and Recovery mode option.
Good Luck.
the jig didnt do anything....
Had the same problem. Bought mine on Craigslist, no receipt. Try a 3rd party repair shop if all else fails. It's honestly less than your monthly bill from your service provider. And if you factor in your time trying to find the cure, way less. Mine cost $72 to replace the M/B, and others have said about a hundred for theirs. It's up to you, but it's another option.
Is your Battery ok ? Because you are saying that your phone does not even turn on when you press power button.
If it is not a battery problem and the phone shows absolutely no sign.
Then it can be a hardware problem.
Because mobile should show some sign for example Mobile and Computer picture, the light on the back key.
However, can you show me the picture of your JIG.
I have tested this JIG on almost 10 mobiles. 100% working. But they were turning on by pressing power button.
Actually when you connect the 4rth and 5th pin of your micro USB with some
specific value of resistance , triggers some function and 301k triggers DOWNLOAD MODE.
The BELL version of Galaxy S has some issue with the INTERNAL SD. I have seen many cases of SD failure on this forum.
And their after sale service is also very bad. People are spending a big amount on this specific model and see what they are getting.

Pulling the battery for 10-30 secs and then boot seems to be the universal problem solver for WP7 phones.

Yes i Will return it on monday unless someone knows a way to restore it.
It's possible to start it in 3 modes.

2. Vol down + camera + power. Then it sais emergency download, and my computer finds it
3. Camera + power. Shows a phone, cord and computer.
I tried the lg phone support tool and it sais the phone already are up to date.
Isn't there a way to load the windows phone 7 software onto the phone somehow?
Would really like to do it so I won't have to return it. I bought it of eBay, it is a customer return, so guess the guy before me tried messing with it to update it. And the company that sold it to me did not check if it was functioning before selling it to me..

There are some information around here how to flash the phone if you feel up for it.

Ok but do u think The firmware is The problem? The LG tool showed that it was up to date, isn't it just the windows phone 7 software that is missing? I am not sure, but wouldn't the phone not show the lg logo if the firmware was bad?

You could probably try a different version of the OS depending on what you have now (I bet you wrote what version you had, I just missed it).
There are a few threads about that under the WP7 hack and dev. And as far as the firmware goes it's hard to know if it's actually ok just because it loads to the logo, I don't know where in the boot sequence the logo appears etc. there could be problems with the firmware too.
My first step would be to see if it's possible to get a new version of the OS in and if not, I'd try some new firmware.
And if nothing works return it as faulty.

I just bought this phone via local site, several days ago i'm so much happy with its smoothness but 2 days ago this problem appear, i spent several hours just to find it hanging on LG logo, i've waited for hour to hour just to see nothing happened that time. I left it for bed, and the next day the phone back to normal. But then, at least the device hanging 3 times a day, its just restarting itself and it seems the phone is unable to boot itself to the homescreen. Need help! I've done many way, from restoring, cold boot, softreset, upgrade(when it comes normal) etc but all don't work till now.
Unfortunately, this product doesn't release officially in my country, so i guess i won't be able to get replacement unit. I became so desperate cause i often use it, i need to get this phone back to normal, soon! Thankyou and sorry for my bad english

Nice, real slick move,, you can't get into bootloader, yet you still decide to go ahead and wipe the OS, so now you have a non booting phone and no access to bootloader.
That's a handsome if totally useless lump of glass and plastic you have there!
JTAG, or sell for spares. (Well, after trying everything you can think of, but all I can think of is freezer trick, but its a loooooong shot. )

i got it to work. My god there are soo many ppl with this phone soo many threads and post not sure if thats a good or bad thing lol anyways out of all the searching I found this guy to have had the same as me and he solved it. It was impossible for me to ever i mean EVER boot in to the trio color screen or bootloader what ever its called using the hardware buttons even tho the hardware buttons do work. I was able to get into bootloader when comp and phone sync and I used the hspl3 program to boot the phone when it was fully on the win mo stock.
Anyways I just followed this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10644926&postcount=4
I opened up my hd2 (unscrew and removed the back panel) and disconnected the connector flex rigid board (A board) of the hardware keypad from the mainboard….and pushed the battery in and pressed reset (sometime u need to plugin the usb cable to wall charged/pc to wake up the phone) and held volume down key and hopped for some miracle.
Viola saw the tricolor screen after eternity – since the back panel (not backcover) was open I help the battery to the pins and didn’t even move my fingers …run the stock rom installation and held the battery tight in place and waited to get the rom completed…the moment its 100% relaxed my fingers and reconnected the flexboard connector, re-assembled my phone and everything was back to normal.
I also used these pages for reference on parts:
http://www.ifixit.com/pdf/ifixit/guide_5919_en.pdf
http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/official-htc-hd2-disassembly-assembly-training-videos-leaked
ps. no need to take the whole phone apart. I believe you are disconecting the AP FPC from main board which is connected to your hardware buttons if I am correct.
Edit: I want to give credit to kylew1212 for walking me through the rest of the installation of my android.
Interesting, good job.
i have a lot of sympathy for his viewson peace
Hello friends,
My LeEco Le Pro3 (727) bricked two days ago and I haven't had any luck turning it back on. It was running LineageOS 8.1 latest official build with an unlocked bootloader, Magisk 16.0, TWRP 3.2.1, and OpenGapps ARM64 8.1 nano. Immediately prior to bricking I was setting it up for bluetooth with my car and was trying to run Google Maps through voice command. As I directed Google Maps to take me to a location, the phone froze, the screen got all "fuzzy" and I got the dreaded blue screen of death.
From that point on I have not been able to turn the phone back on. When I press the power button it will vibrate every 5-10 seconds as though it will turn on but it never does. Ive tried everything I can think of to get to work again including:
- Pressing power button for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up (recovery) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol down (fastboot) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up + vol down (QFIL MODE) -> Installing Qualcomm driver, downloading "FlashOne2.0", flashing all versions of "qfil files" that I could find but still unable to boot up
- Pressing all different button combinations while plugged in to computer/charger
- Using different cords/chargers/usb ports
- Leaving it to charge overnight/full day then trying to boot up
- Leaving it sitting not charging for a full day then trying to boot up
At this point I'm starting to think it might be a hardware issue but who knows..
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Where did you buy it from.
I don't have much to add here it seems like you have done everything that you could
Let's clear this up no fashboot right.
Only one thing to try hold power down then plug in USB.

My one did the same, the issue was motherboard. You should send it back to repair.

Thank you for the reply.
It was purchased from a local retailer here in the United States through Google Express. Fortunately I should still be able to return it for a full refund but I would rather have a working phone than my money back.
No flashboot either. It's like the phone just decided to quit working one day. Tried holding power while plugging in USB as well and no change.

The conclusion I'm reaching at this point too. I'll see what the return policy.
Well if it will not turn on it is hardware issue you should be able to return it.

That is so strange. The screen going fuzzy like that is indicative of a hardware issue, IMO. I saw that on my laptop once, but that was because I hit the screen too hard. Never seen a BSOD on an Android device before. TIL.
I assume you've already tried an adb logcat. Were you using the original LeEco cable? I heard it has issues since it's not up to spec. 99% hardware failure, but I can't help but think it has something to do with driver communication confusing the device and causing hardware failure (?) if that's even possible.
Just a final update for those curious.
After leaving the phone alone for two days I plugged it into the charger and low and behold it started vibrating and booted up by itself. It was running a Chinese developers editions 720 rom due to the QFIL File I had flashed in my earlier in my attempt to fix it. Battery was drained so I let it charge for a while and everything was fine until I attempted to restart the phone. As the boot animation was loading, I got the blue screen of death for a second time.
I took a quick picture, the phone shut off itself off, and same as before it wouldn't boot again. As other users have suggested it appears to be a hardware issue, likely with the motherboard. Fortunately I was still able to return the phone (purchased through Google Express via a local retailer) and received a full refund. I've since bought another Le Pro3 (727) and hopefully when that one comes in, it won't have any issues.
Thanks to all the users who left suggestions/tips.

You bought the same phone again? :good: You're courageous, lol.
i been experiencing the exact problem like your on my x720, as i boot up the system or enterting the recovery mode the screen go fuzzy on loading screen and shut itself off completly, i can still able access fastboot. As i left it for a while the phone will be able to almost finish the boot then ending it all with a blue screen.
Have anyone found a way to fix this DIY since my phone has past the guarantee plan ?
