Just FYI, whenever I reboot my phone my 3G still does not come on. Toggling the Mobile widget still does not work. My only fix is to toggle Airplane mode. I was hoping the new radio would fix this problem.
Anyone else?
second that
hey, I second that. I have seen some other forums denying he issue but there is def an issue with the 3g. Turning my phone on and off or turning airplane mode on or off fixes the problem as well. Also, Idk if this is a Pandora issue of not but, Pandora radio will pause itself sometimes and not resume as well as skip songs before they are done randomly. Once again I am not sute what is to blame for the Pandora issue. I have 2.2 froyo leaked installed and the streaming audio fix b4 fix and v5 fix installed from the update thread from the froyo 2.2 leaked thread
Whenever I go from WiFi to 3G it never works. I have to reboot or do the airplane mode "trick".
I'm using hydra kernel v1 ocuv @ 1.13 ghz and the 8/1 leak with some fixes..
Just ran unrevoked-forever and updated to 2.15.00.07.28 radio. No issues with 3g connectivity.
Maybe you should reinstall your Rom and verify you have the most recent kernel.
I have heard there being issues with 2.1 and the new baseband. Not sure if this applies to you guys.
I don't have this issue.

I had this issue with the 2.05 radio and the leaked OTA. Enough of an issue to revert back to stock.
Now I'm running 2.15 radio and aiccucs v4.2 ROM with zero issues. I thought I was having radio issue, but remembered where I work I have terrible reception anyway.

i also am running 2.15 radio on iuccucs v4.2rom and have no issues with 3g. i also had the 2.15 radio running on stock rooted 2.1 for a week or so with no issues.
its maybe something to do with the kernel/rom your running?

I'm assuming it is some application that's causing it...because only a few people seem to be having this problem, and it does not appear to be related to any particular ROM. Be nice if Android 2.2 had a safe mode or diagnostic startup.
I can't really say that I've had any issues. It seems spotty at times and I have issues downloading from market but nothing like you mention.

I haven't lost 3g too often, but when it happens the airplane mode doesn't do anything, still shows signal bars without the 3g symbol. then if i reboot it boots up into airplane mode, and i can disable it and get 3g back.
cant wait for the official build, just glad we got s-off
do you have juice defender installed? i think it toggles mobile data on and off every so often to save battery if im not mistaken

Good idea, but not in my case...
3G connectivity issue resolved (in my case anyway) !!!
Problem: no 3g after re-booting. Only apparent fix was to toggle airplane mode.
Here's something that I just discovered... Whenever I re-boot, there is about a 90% chance that 3G will not start up. However, if I remove the lock screen right after it first appears (during boot-up) then 3G will always start. So in my case, it was the lock screen that was preventing my 3G from starting up.
I don't know if this is the same 3G connectivity issue that others are having, but in my case this (removing/sliding the lock screen) has worked 100% of the time, so far.
3g Issue Resolved, Fluke?
Whenever booting up dictionary word of the day widget would force close, assuming due to no connectivity. It may be a fluke, but once I removed the widget and restarted, no error, and 3g consistently... Will report back if anything changes...
I had the problem on a FRESH install of FrankenROM running the 2.15 radio. I reflashed and still had the problem.
I've run SkyRaider 2.2, 2.5 and 2.5.2 with no problems and am currently running CM6 RC3 and haven't ever had the issue either... All with the 2.15 radio.
Like many others, after updating to the leaked radio 2.15.00.07.28 a few weeks ago, market installs began hanging, and 3G didn't always start after powering on. The fix for the market hang is to manually stop and restart the download/install, and the fix for 3G is to enter and exit airplane mode.
Surprisingly, after RUU'ing with "RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.21.605.1_Radi o_2.15.00.07.28", and then later wiping and applying "Incredible Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 *Official Release* (100% stock, rooted)" via Clockworkmod, these bugs are still present!!
If you originally installed the leaked radio, then updated to the "official" OTA, do you have these bugs?
If you never installed the leaked radio, but have installed (or received) the official OTA, are you seeing these bugs?
I'm still running the 7/27 release with some of the fixes. Baseband is 2.05.00.06.11.
Sometimes my 3G doesn't turn on, so I empathize. Rarely will I have that market problem, but it will sometimes happen.
....makes me think it isn't neccessarily a problem with the official release or the newer radio.....
I never installed early leaks or anything until I did the RUU file the other day. I do not experience either of those bugs.
If you did the RUU, then its as if you started with a stock Incredible.
For the 3G issue, what is your wifi sleep policy set at? Is it never?

After you flash the RUU it is always good to do a factory reset. I always do that since WinMo days and never have the bugs.
When I was on the leaked 2.15x radio and 2.2 I never had the 3G problem, but ALL the time, my market would hang like that and it would take 2-3 stop and starts to finally get the download going.
It's definitely the 2.15 radio, and not the OS. These problems occur after a fresh RUU, with a completely clean OS, both stock, and rooted. Also, Wi-Fi is off.
As a test, I restored back to the stock radio/rom following "[GUIDES] Root, nand unlock, radio update, Froyo 2.2 update, Restore stock radio/rom". While back to stock 2.1, and the 1.x radio, every single time after powering on the phone, the 3G icon appears after less than a minute, and data works fine. Again, with the original radio, 3G starts every time.
Next, I ran "RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.21.605.1_Rad i o_2.15.00.07.28" and repeated the test. At least 50% of the time after powering on, the 3G icon doesn't appear, and there is no data...until airplane mode is turned on, then off.
Could someone running the "official OTA" please run this test? Make sure your Wi-Fi is off, then power off your phone. Wait a few seconds, and power it back on. Don't do anything after boot until the screen times out. Next, check for the 3G icon, and check data by starting your browser. Repeat this at least 3 times, and let me know the results!
I'm obviously VERY interested if my phone has a problem, or if others are seeing this. Thanks!
I upgraded the radio (from 1.00 to 2.15) via Diacius's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760651
Also installed RMK40's Official 2.2 ROM update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765930
All of it was done this weekend. No problems yet.
No I am not running the Official OTA but I am running the RUU. I did have the 3G failure one time on the first day but not since.
I ran your test 3 times and the 3G icon comes up every time. Last by the way. And yes, the internet works.
I know this is not what you asked for but hope it helps
I installed leaked version. Works GREAT! However a fw of my apps when I wanted to load them again through the market "The requested item could not be found"
Is this because they wont work with 2.2 or is something else?
Thanks

Note a couple of things here.
1. You should always reprogram your phone after installing a radio or rom. This tends tohelp with some of the drop outs. of 3G.
2. The RUU includes a PRI update that NONE of us have been able to flash, and is likely the answer to these random drop outs.
I did the RUU update and I have to say I am disappointed.
I am having doubt about the RUU being the same as the OTA.
Rosie reloads after exit from astro file manager, not always but a few times so far.
Screen brightness has a mind of it own and it took upward of 25 seconds for the screen to brighten up after an interaction (not the backlight, but the brightness).
Overall slowness, it might have better benchmark but feel sluggish.
It might be something on my part during flash, but I doubt it.
Google action is the only improvement for 2.2. Don't see anything to write home about on the 720p.
And that's all folks! nothing else that I personally use or care about that's an improvement over 2.1.
Astro crashes Rosie and you blame the OS?
Interesting.
I still have problems with the lock screen not wanting to unlock. I'll drag it to the bottom and it'll just bounce back up.
In 2.1 I could hit menu and all will be well, in the RUU theres no hope, I eventually had to restart the phone just to clear the lock screen.
I thought the RUU had improved my phone, but then I tried installing a deodexed version and **** hit the fan. I even tried going back to the regular 2.2 before I had installed the deodexed one and still had issues.
My problems:
Battery drains ultra fast, when barely using phone.
Market doesn't download stuff right
hot battery
I noticed the biggest culprit after viewing battery info was
Android System
Phone Idle
Cell Standby
I think it might be the radio that is causing the issue.
I am about to go to the 2.05 radio. Seems it was a better radio and had less issues.
Marketplace: I have had the issue with the market download stalling, but that's only happened when downloading multiple installs. I've never had it happen on a single install. Hardware or Software? Don't know yet, but I'd assume software is missing a reply ACK back to the server on the multiple downloads. Who knows.
Radio Issues: NEVER had the 3G problem. 3G is always going strong, unless I'm in the tunnels beneath the buildings here, then I drop to 1x or lose all connectivity. When I return to the surface, I'm back at 3G with no problems.
I've rebooted my phone probably 10 times since installing the RUU, 3G has always come up fine.

2.05x radio I think would just be worse.
how long have you been running 2.2??
You need to give it at least a week to settle down and everything.
It's like when you first got the phone my battery life sucked the first week until it settled it, it's the same way with going from 2.1 to 2.2.
I suggest charging to 100%. then wiping battery stats, and don't plug back in until phone dies, then use for a few days and see how that works. 2.15x radio is what comes with the official OTA 2.2 I don't understand why you would want 2.05 that's old news.
what makes you think your battery issues lie in the radio? just curious

Just seems to be the culprit because I did S-OFF
Then I installed 2.15 radio and then problems started.
So far all seems good. Market downloads aren't getting stuck and my phone isnt getting hot as all hell and my battery isn't dying really fast.

Some of the apps on the market won't work on 2.2 , most have been , or in the process being updated to 2.2.
I flashed the 8/26 leaked RUU to a stock 2.1 phone and my friends that did the same agree that we do not have the bugs named in this thread. They must only be in the the first leaked 2.15 radio. We never installed that radio.
EDIT: The problem is still occurring. I thought it was fixed.
Myself and a couple other people experienced stange 3g connection problems while running the cm7 nightlies (among other ROMs) with the new HBOOT-0.35.0017. I know it's been said that HBOOT shouldn't have anything to do with your data connection but nonetheless it is causing problems.

I'm sorry to tell you, but hboot has NOTHING to do with the radio part of the phone: it controls the system partitions table and boots the system... nothing else, it doesn't even touch the RAM parts dedicated to the hardware, the kernel does it.
I almost made up my mind to downgrade until seen the edit part. 3g part of signal is very very frustrating experience on my side while call part rarely let it down. Also signal always in close to100 reading while my Acer liquid on T Mobile stays to perfect 75-80 reading.
I'm on HBOOT-0.35.0017 and sometimes I get x gray bars but after it picks up signal and gets connect to H it seem to work fine. Until I lose the signal or I switch to airplane, etc. Takes a while sometimes to get back signal or the H.
I did notice that when the screen goes off my download stops or sometimes when I download certain files it stops right away. I been updating roms so not sure if it related to them, but overall its been like that.

yes screen off downloading stopping is quite annoying...
I dunno but since I upgraded my Hboot and used CM7... my data sucks. It will work then not work. I typically have to reset to get it back. Even switching in and out of airplane mode will not work.
And by 3G I mean my data connection. I'll have full bars and 3G coverage... but no data from the browser, no pings, no online apps, nothing. Seems like the only way to fix it is to reset the phone.
I also noticed my signal is noticeably less at home. Typically I have full bars but now I notice that it's been dropping out and bouncing.
Could be a carrier issue. But I haven't upgraded my radio since 5.08 first came out. I updated my HBoot for the early builds of GB. So I'm willing to test out this theory.
lol, hboot has nothing to do with the phone's radio. The radio version does.
If you're having a problem with the radio (voice/data) then you should look at the radio version you're running.
Again, hboot has nothing to do with your issue.
Ive had the data sticking problem since I got my n1. Remember reading somewhere that if you go into settings - wireless networks - mobile networks - network operators, when it finishes searching select "automatically select". I got T-Mobile & it works for me until the next time I flash a new rom.
FYI when I was on CM 6.1 I had your problems. I then switched to MicroMod777's Gingerbread and those problems disappeared. I've now flashed Enmother's TheOfficial Nexus1 and I'm testing. Absolutely a ROM problem.

Same here. I tried MM and nothing worked! lol. So I went back to the latest CM7 (#24). I'm not sure what the problem is. Now I'm on an older HBoot and an older Radio. I shoulda just left 5.12 and .35 on there.
Once I get my phone pieced back together, I may try one of the older CM6.1 roms to see if that fixes it. I think we are all using Gingerbread roms here, no? Perhaps that just is an issue that comes with it.

Same issue here, wondering if this hboot is incompatible w/ my old radio.
just received my new nightly, will give this method a try as soon as i upgraded.
thanks!
-- just saw the updated post, thanks anyway
Perhaps the OP should change the title and original message to exclude the HBoot details as the problem is with Data connection.
This will let us continue discussion about the data connection problem that we are, I am at least, experiencing.
Using CM7 #24 from 1/30, it seems to be less of an issue. I notice that I'll have 3G and full bars, but no data will work until it changes to an "H". Seems like it might just be the rom. The latest nightly seems to correct the issue better then before. Now if I open a browser, after 30s-1minute, it will start chugging along.
Ok guys, I know that there are posts about random reboots but it seems non have a solid solution. My Hd2 has started doing these annoying reboots for about a week. I was using Tyweens NexusHD2 2.9 and all of a sudden reboots started. So I switched to Typhoon CM7 3.5.7(currently on phone now). Reboots still occur. So I did Task 29, wiped sd card, plus clean install of Typhoon CM7 3.5.7. Phone still reboots. It actually rebooted during setup. I even changed from Magldr 150/5(suggested) to 200/45 thinking it was memory related. Still rebooting. I have noticed it does it more when WiFi is on. Is there something with the latest Android 2.3.5 and Wifi? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No not at all.
I'm having the exact same problem... but strangely now even when I try older gingerbread builds, it does the same thing. Its only been recently, too... I've had the phone for a while and I don't remember it doing this.
I can have the, same build and same gps libs on my wifes hd2, and hers won't reboot. Mine will.
I even went as far as swapping out my mainboard with another one I had from a cracked screen issue... and that didn't solve the reboots.
I can't figure it out. It must be gingerbread and certain phones. Ive tried 2.3.5, 2.3.4 and 2.3.3 and they all are now rebooting. I don't know why its only been lately, too. The, only thing that solves it for me is running Tytungs NexusHD2 ROM v1.9 Froyo based. I can even add the latest agps fix and don't have any reboots. Only thing I really miss from gingerbread is the DSP bass boost which makes a huge difference for my bluetooth audio via my car.
Remains a frustrating mystery to me.

Rafdroid is a Froyo based ROM - same with the NexusHD2 v1.9g build that I'm using and so far no problems.
But when using any gingerbread (sense or non-sense) / CM7 build, I am getting those random reboots. Sometimes so much to the point where the phone is unusable. Then there are times when I could go hours without any. I thought it was something related to 2.3.5 since that's right around the time things started going strange, but like I noted - I've downgraded to 2.3.4 and 2.3.3 - and the same thing is happening. I used to use Hyperdroid GBX 7 for months without issue... now when I load it, it gives the same result. Same with Hyperdroid GBX v12, Hyperdroid CM7, Typhoon, stock bravo based CM7 Nightlies, AmericanAndroid, NexusHD2 Gingerbread version or anything Gingerbread based - period.
It also seems coincidental that the reboots started right around the time when Tmobile issued a bulletin asking for user input about recent unusual high battery draining with mobile data. I really haven't followed up and I don't know if it was determined what was causing it for some users but I am thinking maybe it could be possibly related. I can't explain why my wife's phone can run the exact same ROM and not experience the same thing yet mine does. It seems like an isolated issue - I don't see a lot of people complaining about the same issue lately. Maybe it has something to do with a specific mainboard revision/manufacturing date and some kind of over sensitivity to mobile data power output or something. As I noted in the prior post, I did switch out the mainboard with another one that I had laying around. I did take note of the revision manufacturing date stamped on the board, and they were identical. And both experience the identical problem. My wife's HD2 was bought 3rd party from a private owner at another time separate from when the 2 HD2's I have on hand were purchased. Perhaps she has a different revision/manufacturing date.
The two mainboards that I am having a problem with have a date of 2010/03/16 - they are both identical.
I would take apart my wife's to check her date and am willing to bet it's something different, but I've had really bad luck picking apart these HD2's the few times that I've done it. I've broken wifi coaxial cables and ripped flex cables. The date is stamped on the bottom of the mainboard.

I am wondering if specific phones that run Gingerbread are experiencing this lately because of this:

Like I noted - perhaps it has something to do with an oversensitivity to 3G mobile data power output, etc.

OK, I can now pretty much confirm my original hypothesis about the mainboard. I have switched it out with one that was manufactured in late 2009 according to the timestamp on the board, and that's eliminated this problem for a while now with Gingerbread entirely.
The exact problem is beyond me, but unfortunately I stick to my guns that it's a hardware issue. Not sure why it would affect Gingerbread so much more than Froyo but my guess would be it has something to so with mobile data power management or something of the sort.
So for those saying that turning 3G off counteracts this rebooting effect, try a good Froyo build to keep your 3G connectivity. The reboots didn't happen nearly as much as they did wile running Gingerbread for me (although I would get 1 or 2 every few days).
Unless you can get your hands on another mainboard... or another phone.
Replacing my HD2 entirely for now wasn't an option for me... it's the only "Android" phone that I can run with the grandfathered 5.99 Tmobile web. Any native Android phone is identified by tmobile from its IEMI and forced to upgrade to a smartphone data plan to work with mobile data. They just happen to allow legacy (less than WP7) Windows Phones work with that old data plan, which is what the HD2 is.

Same behavior here - had random reboots multiple times per day until I switched to 2G only (only adjustment I made)....have not had one in over 72 hours of uptime now.

I have notice mine does it when I am at home using WIFI and 3G is on. If I turn 3G off all is ok. When I am out and about I can turn WIFI off and 3G on and no problems. Wacky.
i had a similar problem on my hd2 tmobile with coredroid 1.6 on it..
Random reboots have become all too often, usually when i start applications and i did not want to waste any more time so I changed the rom...
I would get a random reboot every two our there hours until I took of all my widgets except for two and I haven't had a random reboot in about 2 days and I didn't mess with the 3g signals. but my phone still has battery drain issues

Hey all. I do not know any reports about this so I wanted to make a thread revolving around it.
I do not go out much and have bad data plan, so at home I really lie using Wifi, or anywhere where a spot is available. I noticed now though that after activating the wifi, it can take time, but every so often the wifi would still be connected, but all data moveent halts, as if clogged hole, hence description of the problem. After you close and open wifi connection and it reconnects, everything goes fine until next clogging.
Is this problem specific to me only, anyone else noticed this?
Is this problem 2.3.5 and .35 kernel specific? Is anyone on 2.2 froyo and .32 kernel having this problem?
Custom roms: does current MIUI for example suffer from this?
I am trying to find something abou this, if it is U8800 harware specific problm, then I just continue dealing with it, but if it is software based, I will try to fix it. Even if it needs downgrading or anything.
Yes, had this myself... It's very annoying and it usually happens if I reboot when Wi-Fi is already on, or wake-up the device from sleeping when wifi was on. But I can pretty much detect when it happens, the "Wi-Fi" icon stays gray, which means it did not connect to Google servers properly.
It's not hardware specific, I'm 90% sure it's the kernel (like all other fails in .35). I was using CM7 based on .32 before, and it had super fast Wi-Fi with no fails.
Yeah. I can get little by luttle more nnoyed by the anticts 2.3.5 - i should do the trick for pink screen and reinstall froyo. Is there a froyo mod for the quick wifi access and stuff from notification bar? Ah, like i need that if after it my wifi works perfectly.
No wonder official huawei.com site and product catalog do not list it as 2.3.5 device or offer update for it. For now I really think I am better off downgrading and waiting in lay...
