hi all,
I'm facing a strange problem in gallery. As i pinch-zoom pictures taken from the camera, zoom is fine and the edges remain smooth. Similar is the case with pictures downloaded from hd wallpaper app.
However, if i zoom-in on the pictures (9.1 MP captured through my Sony DSC-H50 camera), it is not showing up nice. It shows up blocky inspite of the fact that its resolution is higher than that of the screen; even so on minor pinch-zoom.
Major problem however is that if I try to make these as my wallpaper, it shows up very blocky.
Is there any resolution for this problem? Is there any other app through which I can set images as my wallpaper without disturbing the quality?
Try wallpaper set and save
Did you wait for a moment, say, 5-10 seconds? I was using an old card which is a class 2 SD card and everytime I zoom in a picture it takes about 5 seconds to load the full resolution, the situation gets much better after I have changed to a class 10 Transcend micro SD card, try to get a class 10 card and you will probably find improvement in pretty much everything since there is very frequent usage on SD card for caching I guess.

Was very disappointed with the camera's quality, but recently transferred some photos onto my computer, and they look at least 10 times better.
Does anyone else have this problem where pictures viewed in mediascape do not zoom in properly? I take photos of notes and stuff, and it's near impossible to read the words on the phone, but on the computer, it's fine.
It's as if the phone does not use the full jpg, but just a thumbnail the size of the phone's screen. Don't know how many photos I've deleted thinking they were blurry
Use JustPictures from the market.
Seems to be better than mediascape.
why is it that every picture that i set for any of my contacts are in low resolution??? ive tried using pics on my comp...all sizes and resolution, wallpapers, digital cam pics, pics in 5, 3, 1 megapixel from my mt4g camera...nothing seems to be doing the trick...im so frustrated and unhappy about this. why need contact pics when its not displaying properly?
how is it for you guys, or is it just my device? what am i doing wrong?
Going to try to explain this... When I'm using the stock Camera app, the picture is normal. But when I switch to Camcorder, it seems to be automatically zoomed in quite a bit. And when I try to zoom out, it says that since I'm recording in HD, zoom functions are not available.
This is kind of annoying because now I have to step back probably 5 feet to fill the same frame of when I was taking photos.
Is this normal for everyone else too? Or do I have some weird glitch on my unrooted and pure stock ROM?
Yep, mine does it too (stock rom). It only does that in FullHD resolution. I guess the only use middle part of the sensor to read the data to achieve greater speeds, and thus it's gonna be a hardware limitation.
Who need HD anyway ? The lens hardly catch with it. I record 720x480 and I'm very pleased with teh quality.
Change the video recording resolution in the settings pane to 1280x720 and that should fix your problem.

Yeah I noticed that.
But that doesn't make sense. In photo mode, same resolution as video mode but in video mode it's zoomed in. Like Dr. Sid said, it seems that it uses a smaller section of the image sensor to capture video. Which again doesn't make sense. Weird.
This is definetly a speed optimization - scaling down the whole resolution of camera sensor from 3264*2448 -> 1080p is much more expensive operation than just cropping the central pixels, i assume someone at samsung was VERY lazy to have done the camcorder mode in such a lame way, it's still ok for recording outside scenes but useless for in-room recording.
I find this quite annoying also. At first I was wondering if it is a ROM glitch or something, since some of the people here stated that even in stock ROM it is present also.
I hope there is some kind of patch to this, full HD recording is really awesome and I hate to see the 'zoomed' effect.
Yeah noticed the same thing just last night.. Seems to also affect the camera's ability to focus properly in video capture mode as well... Shame on them, I wish I had noticed this sooner.
Hello
My Samsung Focus, stopped saving pictures taken on the camera, the same for videos. It's looking like the picture was taken, and sliding to the edge of screen, on the camera display, but when I try to find this picture, nothing is saved.
Any solution to that? btw. I'm sure the SD card has a lot of free space.
Hi, when I record a long FHD video, it will automatically split the file after the file reached 4GB. Is there any way to record continuessly?
My SDcard is formatted with exfat FS, so i don't think the problem is with the sd card. In fact I have many movies that around 8GB in size.
Sorry for my english.
Use a different camera app maybe. I hate this limit.
Up.
I don't understand this totally arbitrary limit. My Sony Xperia records continuously which is great for one-hit videos of 30 - 40 minutes that DO NOT need to be manually stitched back together to upload to Youtube (for example).
It's the single most frustrating thing my 'new' S8 presents to me and the one single thing that may have me headed back to my Xperia
I assume you are using the stock camera app. I don't know if it is, but the Samsung camera APK might only be 32-bit and this is a common limitation as 4GB is 2^32 and the integer limit on 32-bit is (2^31)-1.
It's basically a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it, because most people don't run into this issue.
