Htc evo shift battery heats up - EVO Shift 4G General

Hello I have a problem with my girlfriends phone. Apparently it starts to heat up when she has only used it for only 15 to 20 minutes, she isn't multi tasking. I believe it is the root because it has never done this before it was rooted. I used the perm root method using visionary. Need help plz

You could always ruu back to stock then try rooting through the GUI method. Do you have a custom kernel loaded? Might just be running to fast if that's the case. Not all phones handle CPU speeds the same.
<Blaze One>

That did the trick thanks.

Are you on di18 or are you on dk28? cuz if your on di18 z4root should work. If your on dk28 than yeah you need a pc with the one click root is so simple. Its just that you do 1 click and it does it thing really fast.

Yeah, Z4Root worked for me on stock Eclair. It just took a couple attempts for it to finally work. The first time it just sat there forever, so I pulled the battery, booted back up, tried again then it worked.

[No PC] One Click Root/Unroot! VISIONary

I found this one click root app and permarooted my epic, try and see if it works for you
Note: Try at your own risk, may send you into bootloop.
People were using that for the evo shift before the perm root came out.

So this works? We have a method for rooting froyo without a pc? Sweet.
zRoot also works on the Epics in the same fashion.

Not for froyo on epic tho, or at least that didn't work for me.
I used superoneclick on a library PC. Worked like a charm.

Is there any trick to getting this to work? How long did it take on the Epic? i've stared at "rooting device, please wait" for 20 minutes now with no luck.

Is this just a temporary kind of root, like w/o cwm and all?

You can permanently root and unroot, just need to flash cwm yourself.

Can't root

I rooted my MT4G with VISIOnary a while ago, and unrooted it about a week ago with the PD51MG file or something to that wording, because I wanted the gingerbread OTA. I then remembered why I rooted in the first place because the stock OS is glitchy and battery life was terrible. I tried running VISONary again but it just hangs on the rooting screen. Should I try using gfree to root it again or am I SOL?
Did you get the official gb update?
No, I'm still on 2.2.1
I had the same problem. I got it rooted again using VISIONary r14.

You should be able to use the same exact method you used to root it the first time if you are still 2.2.
I tried that, but VISIONary just hangs on the rooting please wait screen.
Click and hold the root option for about 5 sec then release it happen to me even tho it still didn perm root

I remember something similar happened to me, I got temp root but perm root didn't stick with that rooting screen problem too, try to use the pd15 thing again and start from scratch or just maybe factory reset it.
Did you make sure fastboot is off? And other settings are correct? it's been so long I don't remember.

This thread has a few ways to check it and tells you which one is bad (samsung)...check post 392 for probably the easiest way. As far as rooting your phone, did you follow one of the stickied guides in the development section?
Thanks but I still don kno how to check my emmc or let alone know if its bad or not

You can use titanium backup or other apps to "freeze" apps. This is permanent (but reversible) even under temp root. They still take up space on your phone but are otherwise invisible.

No you cannot flash roms and mods when you are temp rooted as you have to reboot. When you reboot you are no longer temp rooted. Be patient things are sorting themselves out ,a dev is on it people are trying to get him devices so he can achieve full root.
Might as well get use to stock roms... could be a WHILE!! lol no one even has a clue. all we know is a few people are looking into it. with HTC having a stick up there *** and not releasing the GB kernal/rom we are stuck waiting.
no, you need full root
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=936
So I was in g2x forum, and they said you can flash a recovery without root. Then with recovery you can flash a rom.
Don't know if it works like that with our phones though.

You need full root to flash recovery. End of story

Completely different phone. Perm rooting is dependant on the hardware's boot loader security. With the GB update on the shift hboot got updated and changed the security.
