[PROBLEM] Battery gives wrong info. Even battery calliberation Doesnt work - Galaxy 3 General

Hello...
I am now on stock XXJPM.
I was on Kyrollis and have changed a lot of roms.
Ok... so my battery is having an error.
Once i plug in my charger within 2 minutes it says 100%. And once plugged out it says 5%. WTF is it ?
I had flashed XXJPM twice and removed both my sd and sim card.
idk whats the problem.
Even tried battery calliberation when it was 100% and in a couple of seconds it went back to 5%.
Plz help me guys.

May be you discharged battery to much and damage a safety chipset on battery.
It may happened too with to high battery temperature.
Anyway how long phone may work on that 5%? Did you make data wipe?
And you aren't able to check rom/phone with other battery?

ok try this...
1) Discharge battery completely...try switching on the phone even with 0 battery...it may just switch on and then switch off automatically, do this until it becomes completely dead..
2) Start Charging with phone switched off...let it charge for like 2 hours i say...even if it shows full battery in that charging animation.
3) Switch ON...use battery calibration, without 100% also do it...
4) Restart Phone and let it charge till 100%...
5) Should work then...if still then flash, DDJG6 eclair and update via kies...then take it to samsung center

Recalibrate your Samsung Galaxy S the PROPER way

HI guys i will be showing you how i recalibrated my battery and it worked for me,
1.charge phone till full (EVEN IF IT DROPS TO 98 AS SOON AS YOU UNPLUG ITS OK)
2.drain the phone and i mean DRAIN turn on everything (sync, wifi, bluetooth, everything
3.once your phone automatically switches off try boot if not boot into download mode
4.stay in download mode until it switches off again
5.once it switches off try accessing it again keep on doing it untill you cant
6.charge phone till full (make sure you dont switch on phone)
7.once it says full take off phone charger and quickly put it back in make sure you do it fast and do this 5-6 times
8.without taking charger off boot into recovery
9.wipe battery status but as soon as you are about to wipe quickly take off charger once it wiped put it back in and reboot phone
10. give it 3-4 days and make sure you do battery cycles
11.try flashing a different modem im using ZSJPG link:http://insanity.rollus.net/addons/modems/ZSJPG-Modem.zip thanks to nitr8 and alll the other rom developers
thx m8 very well explained, ill try to do it later

Have you checked the battery's voltage while doing this? Or is there a built in deep discharge protection even in download mode?
your phone will have a bit of power left to go to download mode for safety incase you do brick it but you cant brick your phone when your recalibrating
Personally i would only go that extreme route if you have a battery problem .
Multiple full drains and multiple bump charges is no good for battery life .
jje
I agree. I wouldn't go that extreme. if u r experiencing battery problem, use battery recalibrate app for galaxy s. (search xda forum and you will find it less than a minute)
It is more than sufficient to solve common problems

It's not so much a question of bricking the phone, it's more if you let a li-po battery (like the one in the SGS) go below a certain voltage it can damage the cells and drastically reduce the life of the battery
Ive read that such discharging your device (whether phone or pda) is not good for the battey, and that you should never try to force discharge it ...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Both bump charging and complete discharging can damage the battery.
Teaching this is both incorrect, irresponsible and dangerous as excessive discharges can under certain circumstances cause the battery to effectively explode the next time it is charged.
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/battery_calibration
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
All this voodoo and mystery around calibration is silly. It's a simple process that need not be made any more complicated. Bump charging may be alright, however it significantly reduces the service life of the battery and so should not be done regularly, without proper warning.
I thought I would add my 2 cents to the battery thread. I am in the UK and have an XEU phone. I have gone through all different firmwares, modems etc. and all of them had one thing in common.....
Anything above XXJPY would just rape my battery and I mean about 50% in about 12h running barebones. Beleve me when I say that I tried all sorts. Currently I am running my own custome deodexed and stripped JPY, and havn't looked back.

Incorrect reading for battery after updated to 4.2.2

Hi, today I went to office, I can see the battery reading is 84% after one hour of use in the transportation. When I plug the phone to the charger it shows 100% immediately (Charge so quickly isn't it ? :laugh. It remains 100% even I reboot the phone. Did anyone meet this bug?
Have never encounterd such a thing. Are you rooted?
Sv: Incorrect reading for battery after updated to 4.2.2
Never seem it but try a factory reset. I always do one after a system update.
Skickat från min Nexus 4
It's likely nothing is wrong. After every ROM flash, the battery calibration always messes up a bit. Just use the phone normally and the calibration will fix itself after a couple charge cycles. If you want to fix it sooner, run the battery down and charge it again.

That will happen with any/all N4's at some point. More commonly the battery will lie to you, forget to update battery level during deep sleep, etc... Your phone isn't "broken".
Mines just did that today.. Was at around 38, plugged it to the laptop to transfer stuff, took it off showed 100.. reboot fixed it but now I have to recalibrate

you can calibrate your battery with the following app

i tried it on my old phone and it worked. So far my N4 is still fairly calibrated.
batterystats.bin has absolutely nothing to do with the battery level your phone is showing you. Its a per charge battery history file, i.e. what you see if you go to Settings>Battery.

As far as am aware it doesn't really work? So your saying changing recovery for you helped with your battery, coz like i take it off charge and its 100% then it jumps down to 97% after a few minutes and am not even doing anything.. and i just got this phone this week. Am tempted to send it back, i don't know what to do?

That is because you left the phone plugged in for so long that it hits 100%, then it starts discharging to prevent overcharge.. so it drops to 95%, then charges again. You took it off at 97% (yes, it might still have shown 100% for a little while so you don't go and plug it in again).

Battery reading issues

Hey everyone. So I bought a second hand note 4 recently and have been having battery problems.
I did a full wipe install of CM13 and the battery dropped to 0% at random times and I had to plug it in the charger for the phone to even boot as it would just restart as soon as it turned on. Anyway, i thought this is probably due to faulty battery. I purchased another one and now this one doesn't reboot at random times but seems like the phone keeps reading the battery percentage wrong, sometimes it doesn't charge over certain percent, just gets stuck at 77% or 63% or any percentage really. If I remove the battery and plug it back in, it shows a completely different percentage everytime. I have tried wiping battery stats, do a full discharge/charge, nothing seems to help. Battery drains fairly fast too, once I manage to get it to 100% it shows that expected time is like 2-3hrs if screen on. Thanks!

battery displaying different percentage after u remove it and put it back in is normal i have 3 note4s all do the same (up to 10 percentage change, it either increases or decreases) but the other issues like getting stuck on a certain percentage are not normal make sure u have the genuine battery and try stock rom.
yeah, i tried stock and the same thing really. such a random issue. I just noticed that battery charges once I turn the screen on and use it , so it only gets stuck on random percent only with screen off.

once the battery is charged to 100% it also drops first 10-20% really fast and then it gets better but still I only get around 2hrs screen time

Oops my bad..Didn't read your whole post...
the only way to fix this replace your battery by new one
i tried all options (Format ROM - Wipe battery status - Getting back to stock ROM - Unroot - re Celebrate apps - Changing recovery-Removing battery from device for while sleeping - charge without fast charge - charge via USB)
i asked myself after that all of this headache doesn't worth 20$, i replaced the battery with new one and its working fine now

yeah, i replaced battery as well but it's still the same issue. old one at least charged fully but would randomly reboot on me, the new one doesn't reboot but drains extra fast and doesn't always charge fully. can't believe both batteries are faulty
I am sorry for summoning this old post but did you find any solution to your problem? I have exactly the same experience with my note 4.
Thanks!
Is there a solution for this problem?
Power down and then out-and-in same battery and my stuck-at78%... was 100% when started.
if you having problems with auto restarting.... download the app " WAKE LOCK" and put it on Partial Wake Lock setting... your restarts will be a thing of the past.

Battery issue

When my battery is used up to 15% or lower, the battery will maintain at 14% for a while but after that battery will drop drastically to 5%.I plugged in my charger and the battery bounce back to 11% something. And the phone will shuts down itself with 11% remaining power. Can i know what is happened to my battery ??Sorry for bad english
This means time to change a new battery, how old is your battery?
Witch one is your last security update? Because I think you get battery decalibration after september/ october montly patch.

1. Use your device until %1 or 2(If shuts down by itself; power on again),
2. Connect your charger at the percentage i meantioned above. If it jumps up to higher percentage, unplug and use it until %1 again.
3. Then repeat that process until plug/unplug percentages match.
4. After matched; unplug the charger and use your device until shuts down automatically, then power on(dont connect to the charger), use it until re-shuts down and repeat this process at least 3 times(to waste the battery completely).
5. In the end, connect the charger in and wait until it gets fully charged(dont unplug or interrupt the charging). When you irregularly charge your device; it will mismatch again, just use it %100 to %1 and charge fully everytime. That fixed my percentage mismatching issue. Hopefully helps.
This apply to all phones? Not mine s6 but mine note edge getting this problem as well, problem is it's doesn't reach 1% at all, always died at 35%,almost like 35%is like 0%,odd,already order new battery seem like I seller forgot to send it or something, dangs

If the issue is only mismatched percentage; probably helps(Tried on Meizu Mx4) but in case; my sister's n4 has been suffered by the same issue like you have. Solution: New battery.

found out something as well , removing the battery seem to improve the duration of charge as well , no expert i judge by the duration of charging time , mine age old S3 is still in use from launch till today , battery slightly bloated still works but only Sot 1 hr plus , still rocking like a tank .

S5 Battery Problems.

Problem Fixed
The Problem:
Even when the phone is booted up and i charge it up to 100%. It quickly drops down 98/97% in few seconds. Is that normal?
Also when i do restart the phone the charge will be at whatever % but even when unpluged it will go up by few %s and then quickly go down in few seconds.[/I]
Charging with phone closed and you unplug it before opening, when opening, that fase will suck up a few % of battery juice in a little wile because a lot of apps are loading and also some of them will go in wifi or data connection for play store, email searching, flipboard or news loading ecc, ecc. Infact, you can also see that your phone will get hot for a few minutes and that means that cpu is working for this.
Try charging after 5 minutes that your phone is opened and the % of battery is droped and reach 100% .
Stay a couple of minutes charging once reached 100% and then unplug.
Now battery % should drop normally.
Remember that every time you reboot, that will happen again so apps will suck % of battery quickly in this fase.
What you can also do is to make a wipe cache in recovery mode first opening your phone.

if doesn't work try a battery calibration doing this:
*#0228# in phone dialer
- that will pop on battery calibration screen
- charge battery at 100% and unplug
- once unpluged wait a couple of minutes and then press quik start botton
- wait that screen returns and you will see that % of battery will be less
- richarge at 100% and then unplug
that should fix

I recommend the original battery and not cheap chines ones...there Life is longer.
