Cant boot recovery - Droid 2 General

I got a droid incredible from a friend so I gave my old Droid 2 to my girlfriend. It has the first Gingerbread leak which is always shutting down on here and just being overall slow... I sbf'd the phone and then rerooted it and installed clockwork recovery threw Rom Manager and it said it installed successfully but when I tried to boot into recovery to flash a more stable rom (Liberty 1.5) it wont boot into recovery it just reboots the phone. Am I doing something wrong? I just need a more stable rom on the phone for my girlfriend... Thanks

You can't use rom manager on the d2. You need d2 bootstrap recovery app. Then you can get into clockwork recovery

What happened to the non-donate version? I bought it on my google account but my girlfriend doesnt wanna pay for a app she'll never use haha. I just need to get a stable rom on the phone for her.

Are you able to download the app through your google market? If so, I'd save the app for future use.
On another note, with the bootstrap you can update to the other rom if you've downloaded the zip IIRC.

[Q] Can't Install Custom Roms after using TBH 2.2 SBF

First off, I am very familiar with Custom Roms and Never had this problem before.
I had to use the 2.3.13 SBF bc I was in a boot loop from a theme. I am rooted again using rageagainstthecage and can access the ClockworkMod recovery. I have tried multiple times to install 2.3.15 deodexed from the TBH app with no success. ClockworkMod says the install was successful but under system info it states it is 2.3.13. I know that it is 2.3.13 odexed bc Tranquility causes a boot loop. Backup and Restore work fine but not zip files. Does anyone know why it will not install?
I think I just experienced the same thing. Had to use the same sbf last night. This morning I tried to install zapx and seems like nothing happened and I was back at stock. Also I cant get back into clockwork recovery.

You probably need to bootstrap the system again using the koush's app, to get back into recovery.
I installed ZapX but I had network issues with the market. So i reverted using a backup.
I was able to get clockwork back and install a different rom and the rom took this time. Rubix .5 to be exact.
good news- full 2.2 sbf is available now. there are links in x development.
thanks but i think they removed the thread ?

Boot loop from the red eye [Droid 2 Global]

I rooted my D2G and installed clockwork recovery on it thru rom manger and was trying to install a theme from available droid 2 themes. It goes past the motorola logo and when It gets to the eye it keeps boot looping the eye. Does anybody know how I can fix this, i know it was quite stupid what i did since there isn't any roms or themes available for D2G yet? I also forgot to make an a backup. The theme i was trying was NexTheme Final Fission 2.12.
try to sbf if you are unable to do that than you might have to take it in. this has happened to me and i had to take it to verizon to get it replaced.

That theme is made for a Droid2 with Fission 2.2.1. ROM and wont work on any other ROM or phone.
Idk if the clockwork in rom manager will work correctly. I've only ever used koush's bootstrap bc the kernel is locked and regular clockwork doesn't work on the locked kernel. I have a D2 but the principle should be the same bc yours is an updated version of mine with a locked kernel as well.

Yea i just called verizon and played dumb. Since i got the phone on yesterday and i didn't even activated it. I told them i got my phone and i can't get it to boot to activate it. jeessuussjason: when u took your in did they say anything about being rooted anything? Like how can they check? i installed clockwork recovery on my but seems like the clockwork recovery got erased now too, it doesn't boot into to it, just regular stock recovery.
Learned lesson back up!back up! everything!
nope i played dumb too and said i tried to update it and got a boot loop you're within the 30 days so they should replace it no questions asked they will try to plug it into their computers but it obviously won't do anything

[Q] Getting to Clockworkmod Recovery the hard way

I have a rooted X stuck at the M logo(I can get to the stock recovery) and I want to know if there's a way to get to Clockworkmod.
I have Koush's bootstrap and Clockworkmod installed, so all I need is something that will trigger the bootstrap.
The backstory is that I was uninstalling Blur applications from ApeX and got a little overzealous, and now it won't boot(probably waiting for an application that's never going to start).
Ive heard that if you hold the down volume button when powering on, it will send you to bootstrap.

Try plugging in a usb cable and pull the battery and put it back in, turn it on with the usb still in.

I think you're in for an SBF Flash. I had a similar problem the other day (tried to install a new rom...foolishly didn't make sure the battery was charged.) I tried all the above and then wound up doing a flash. Once I was back to stock the then gained root (another story) I quickly loaded Bootstrapper & restored my primary ROM (Darkslide 4.1) and am now a happy camper again.
I eventually gave up and SBF'd to stock, rooted, and then reinstalled ApeX. I was able to keep /data through the whole process, so I didn't lose too much. Is there any way to set up clockworkmod that it will always load in place of the default recovery system?

I've had it installed the entire time. By default it only bootstraps/loads clockworkmod if you tell it to(specifically you need to be able to write to /data/.recovery_mode) so you can't just boot into it when your phone is off.
What I want is a way to essentially replace the stock recovery app.

So does Koush and the rest of the Droid X owners...
Rubix has this feature sorta. If u install rubix drod implemented a beta fix that should boot into recovery if the battery is left out for x mins typically 3-5. From what I understand as long as the /system isn't formatted after installing rubix even if u use a different Ron this fix will still work. Might be worth installing rubix just to get this feature... and chances are if u haven't tried it before u might not want to leave rubix
Unless someone cracks the bootloader there is no easy to overwrite the stock recovery on droid x

Coming from an Unrevoked Forever Incredible, I've been searching for the same thing. Found this on another forum:
Getting Into Clockwork In a Pinch for Droid X
I saw a write up on this in another thread and I thought we needed it here too. I use this trick a lot and took it for granted that everyone knew it. Say you can't get into your phone to reboot into recovery through the Bootstrap App. Here are the Steps to get into Clockwork and Restore a Backup.
1) Make Sure your Phone is Plugged into the Charger.
2) Battery Pull.
3) With the Phone still Plugged into the Charger replace the Battery.
4) Wait until your Phone enters the Charging State. ( The Battery Icon Charging)
5) Hit your phone's power button, it should Boot into Clockwork Recovery. It works like a Charm for me everytime.
I figured that^ out on accident. If your stuck in the M you obviously have to battery pull but this will also work if you just reboot with a wall charger plugged in.
If you install the liberty rom, there is a feature that allows you to go into CWM every time you turn on the phone in the settings menu

Help please!!!!!!

Ok guys i need ur help. Im getting very frustrated here. I have clockworkmod latest in my incredible and i flashed a miui rom and it started to force close. It would say process android.process.media suddenly stopped and it wouldnt let me do anything. So i went over to recovery manually and flashed a different rom. But now it is doing in every single rom that i flash. Dont know what to do. HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Try flashing a different recovery, such as RA. Then reflash the rom and go from there. I hear that works better than clockwork. From my personal experience there has been issues with clockwork.
miui
Isnt miui a theme? I installed sumthing called miui as a theme and it done the same thing to me, I had to reset the phone to fix it, I couldnt get the phone to do anything, it kept FCing every 2-3 secs
No miui has custom roms for several devices and that is exactly what it did. But the thing is that now it is doing it on any other rom i flash. I have preferred amon ra over clockwork but since without cwm rom manager wont work i kept it. But i might try flashing amon ra and c whats up

Clockwork -Or- Coincidence?

So I've been using amon ra since I got my evo then about 2 weeks ago when CM7 nightlies came out I flashed clockwork 3.0.0.5 so I could get notifications and update though ROM Manger. Today I backed up my sdcard and went to format my card through clockwork and it failed and said it couldn't do it. I figured alright lemme just boot into android and do it, so I hit reboot and it vibrates 5 times and sits there with a black screen and a flashing green light. I've searched around and found people with rooted/modded and unrooted/stock phones that are having the same issue with no resolution. Strange thing is that my evo is now S-ON even though I was flashed with unrevoked forever with S-OFF. I also can't boot in to recovery. Here are my problems and what I have tried so far..
1. Used fastboot to flash everything I can think of, but always get some kind of error.
2. After many many attempts I was able to flash the latest official PC36IMG.zip. Sometimes it boots and sometimes it won't. When it does boot it shuts off and gives the 5 vibrates. It also will not see the microSD card when booted up.
3. Tried different microSD card and battery.
4. Tried to use unrevoked, but adb is not working.
5. When booted up it also lists 3 "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" entries in device manager with exclimations.
4. Any suggestions anyone may have?
I've only had my phone for about two months and I bought it new off ebay. If I can't get it working I'm at a loss. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
EDIT: I was able to get android to see the sd card by doing the fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243, but it still reboots.
Clockwork is not bad, but it isn't the best. I used amon ra for a year on my hero and I never had one issue. I have an epic now (just bought an evo on ebay ), and clockwork is always a hassel for me. If I were you, download the new amon ra recovery image. You can go into rom manager and select "flash alternate recovery". It will automatically switch you over. Or remove root and re root the phone.

I'm running the stock rom with S-ON and no root. Android will not even stay up long enough to use temporary root from z4root and flash another recovery.
Seems to be happening a lot lately with the new CM7 build.

Are they trying to incorporate some sort of epst app in it now? Thats strange a rom would mess with the bootloader but for it to do it on an evo and an incredible?

If its unrooted with s-on then have you considered going to a sprint store and having it replaced? With TEP its free, without it, its $35-

No not z4 lol. You need a recovery image to back up the phone, flash new roms, etc.
Unless I have no idea what you're talking about. I miss amon ra, and that will be the first thing I put on my evo lol.

After 16 hours of trying to recover the phone I finally caved and went to the sprint store. I paid the $35 got real lucky since sprint had no refurbished evos at the warehouse so they gave me a new one there an then. Number one rule..
DON'T USE CLOCKWORK!
Clockwork 3.0.0.5 was the common factor in all cases I found.
EDIT: Also if your using a custom rom with customer recovery like amon ra I would leave S-ON. This way a flashable zip can't modify and corrupt your NAND partitions.
