This may sound dumb/noobish, is it possible to port win 7 phone OS to our poor HTC Touches?
My brother said, only 2 things you will require.........1. New processor and 2. new ram
ofcourse I understood wht he meant.............
still i wish to ask if anyone is experimenting?n is it possible to make a rom?which we can flash just like we do wid 6.5 n others?
im quite excited over this..........would any one tell me if it is possible?
You'll have to cool down, your bro means you need another phone to handle win7 requirements- around 5 times more than Elfin. Bottom line: No

IHi Guys!!!
can HTC 3400 flash to Windows Phone 7 or Not?
yes it can be upgraded to windows 7. i m too waiting for any senior member to upload .nbh file for that
Sorry to break this... but I think the answer is an absolute NO.
Reasons:
1. The hardware specs are way too low ... just ask the chefs who are chruning out WM 6.5.x ROMs in the ROM Development forum for Gene.
2. It is being expected that M$ will do some nasty trick this time to lock to a minimum HW requirement for WM7. You can not even run TF3D on Gene or even Touch2 (since it requires HW acceleration).
There is also immense work involved in porting an OS to a device and there is a limit how much you can strip the OS, I think 128 MB ROM is too less for even WM 6.5 - trust me I once had that device .
excuse me sir
who told u tht htc p 3400i dont support windows 6.5
i m using it on my gene with 8gb card.so please dont say anything like a layman. about windows 7 i have no idea but windows 6.5 runs very smoothly on gene.okkkkkkkk
Bit of post pruning done here - please avoid personal comments.
Thank you
Mike
HTC Gene P3400 NEVER Flash to Windows Phone 7...
Gene P3400 has low performance and not highly support WM6.5...
i heard that HTC Touch HD2 also is not support WM7...
admins plz close this thread......
Windows Phone 7 is not out yet. Yes, I know about the "leak". However it contains ARM7 code that can NOT be run by any other device, but snapdragon based device, such as the HD2.
To summarize, WP7 will never run on the Gene or any other non ARM7 capable device. Closing thread.
does anydoby knows if the windows 7 will be conpatible with the opal?..i don't really know much about it but i would like to know if the delelopers can make it compatible to put it o a opal device
I'm just guessing but it probably won't be compatible right out of the box. If anything it will be like WM 6.5 and have to be cooked by the chefs here at XDA to work.
Windows Phone 7 need dualtouchscreen! Sooo.....
Wait until we are lucky!
We are still trying to port android on our devices which is not much of a success....and WM 7 hasnt released yet,so we cant predict what's in store for us because presently,we are still trying to get a perfect 6.5 on opal, which is being made possible by finest chefs on board the forum...so we just have to wait and wait...nothing else..

Was Just wondering if windows 7 can be flashed on HTC Elf......
Windows phone 7? No
Windows 7 (OS)? No.
The elfs processor is 1/5th of the reqired CPU usage for a start, and wasn't even meant to run winmo 6.5.

elfin has only a doubled rom/ram difference, cpu is the same. besides, not that a slight difference would work
what about eclair or froyo?
does someone have cab for that?
The answer is still no. There is only android1.6 donut for the elf/elfin. Wing Linux have done a great job getting it to the state that it is in at the moment. If you want a phone that is going to run android fully then just get an android phone. The elf is a very old device now when you consider the changes to mobile phones in the last year alone.
I'm sorry to be so blunt but I don't think it will happen. And even if it does it will be very slow and you'll probably end up with a negative impression of android or winphone 7 and not want to use it. You.can get early android phones for relatively cheap now. Look at the Hero, massive.community, but again, people are moving to faster devices already.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Saying that though, there is no.reason that you can't offer a helping hand to get eclair or group ported. Wing Linux will probably welcome the help.

hi i'm a new user, i have an htc rose with wm6.1 i'd like to know if someone can cook a windows mobile 7 rom. i have also an another question : the 6.5 rom is stable? are there many differences to the 6.1 one? thanks for help
as I know wm7 is only for touch screen
Indeed it is. Windows Phone 7 will NEVER come to WM smartphone devices, IE those without touchscreens.

Do you think the hardware is so different ?
The spec are pretty the same has Windows mobile...
Unlike microsoft usually do, there is no driver include in windows phone ?
similar is unfortunatly not good enough, the HD2 and Hd7 are very very similar, but they are not the same. Even within the same SoC there may be differences in Implementation.
The HD2 was used to trial the initial WP7 OS before the HD7 was made, so drivers were made, all be it poorly, without those drivers we wouldnt have WP7 on the HD2, even with them we have some considerable issues with it! i believe the HSPL was also easier to get working on the HD2 too compared to modern devices, i know nothing about that other than what ive heard.
oh an windows phone isnt like its desktop cousin, ms doesnt pump it full of drivers!
hardware limitation.....
