[Q] ROM recommendation - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Okay so i've been thinking about changing ROMs for a while. I'm still on MDJ CM7 2.6 LOL! I haven't wanted to change because the ROM just works for me. So i'm wondering what ROM any of you guys would recommend that is similar to this ROM in both form and function (i.e. bare android+CM7)
Thank you!

I installed this one, and it has been pretty good and stable:

I have heard a few people recommending the Typhoon CM7 ROM, too.

I used to love pongster's ROMs back in the SD days. but i tried that ROM and it wasn't doin it for me. I want something with no launcher just the reg gingerbread one. I love the vertical battery icon. Just as stock as possible. With CM7

I used typhoons CM7 for a while but I think there are to many updates. Every single day an update is to much in my opinion.
I like pongsters roms too . They are really speedy

you could try ndt ginger but i think that it has built in adw launcher.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to tytung's NexusHD2-Gingerbread. Seems like the perfect upgrade for me.
I actually ended up switching to MIUI. it's awesome and i'm not looking back.

[Q] Recommend a NAND Rom?

Hello Team
Im currently running NDT Ginger v16, everything seems to works fine but lately i've been dropping signal and freezing up. Which Graphical NAND Rom that is stable and working would you guys recommend?
Thank you in advance

Depends on what you want, for Sense there are many stable versions available. Coredroid is an awesome one.
Typhoon is a great CM7 rom if you want a more stock look. I can suggest something more specific if you tell me what you want in a rom
Definitely not a stock rom but something a bit more robust with themes and great look.
also stable, all working and fast
You could check out boyppc's rom's. I tried both his GB and desire (sense) roms & they are great. He also has a miui & a sense 3 roms, but I haven't tried them.
Wet themes, I put this one on boyppc's GB & it looks great :

Flavours of MIUI
This one is nice if your into MIUI:

Cheers
Since you familiar with Langthang releases then I would recommend MIUI ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498
Ever since I start using it I never looked back on CM7 ROMS, not that they are great but I need a nice GUI system over all. Just a side note - CM7 is much faster than MIUI lol
Anyway it's really what you looking for ---- pretty ROM vs Fast etc
I'm sure you will like this
Good luck
boyppc ist super

This version is quite old, should update to newer version
Newest version is V20.0 now
Upgrading to newer rom version?
Is there anyway that i can upgrade to a new rom without having to download and re-install all my apps/games etc?
Got it, all i did was rename original android folder and installed the new rom through AD recovery. All is there and functioning

Not sure if you've already seen these, but here are some step by step tutorials (posted on the Typhoon rom thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951) on how to do clean installs and installs where you keep your data. Sounds like you pretty much worked it out already, tho!
http://www.multiupload.com/YJJ4J8BXU8 - update ROM and CWM + restore data
http://www.multiupload.com/AJN2KWMEL5 - update ROM + restore data
http://www.multiupload.com/R2PYG1Z00U - clean installation.
I've found these very helpful.
Other way to keep old data/apps is to use Titanium back up, tho this can be tedious if you have a lot of apps.
AmeriCan Android is what I use for almost a year and never had complains.
Thank you
Thank you all for your input and assistance on my questions.

most stable rom out? + other..

So I'm finally a proud owner of an HD2 (again..) Anyway... The rom I bought the phone with isn't the most stable from what I can tell, "BOYPPC_SENSE 3.0 STOCK V7 0.5 OCTOBER". Or at least it's just not fit to my standards..So I'd like to know whats the best ROM to use, for every day use? I was thinking of CM7, since I've always loved the quality ROMs produced by them, but I'm just not sure..
ALSO...Before I brick my HD2 (again), can someone give me the STEP BY STEP instructions on how to install whatever ROM through my SD card? I do NOT want to ruin a phone again so I'm taking major precautions.. Please just dont link me to a thread and say "here".. I just want some instructions from a fellow XDA and HD2 owner as myself.. Thanks guys..Rep to whoever helps me out with this
do you have mgldr or clk in your phone?

Pretty much all aosp gingerbread ROM's without sense are stable and fast. They can be used as daily builds with almost all features working flawlessly. CM7 builds give much more customization and options, but often are not as stable. For the best battery life I would suggest a gingerbread build with noting on it (no CM7 or sense)

First, download Titanium Backup and create a backup of all your files to your SD card. Then, you can follow this guide to install any newer NAND Android build. There are loads of CM7 builds such as Hyperdroid and Dorimanx. I'm using Typhoon CM7 and it's great but it hasn't been updated since November and I can't remember if there have been any significant patches or updates since then. From what I've heard Dorimanx's ROM is good.
use rom manager, there you just have to click update ;-D

NO, do not do this, it doesn't just work like that. You need to give more information, but ROM manager doesn't support MAGLDR, and only works with cLK.

As said before Rom manager is not compatible with MAGLDR.
go to android nand section and you will find your answer there .
Hyperdroid, Typhoon, Dorimanx, are the best non sens roms.
Energy, Team Blue Droid, are the best sense roms.
Good luck
If you would like my recommendation on a rom, I would suggest Hyperdroid. It is fast, stable, and reliable.
I've been using it for well over a year now and its speed and stability never fails to amaze me.

After rooting your phone

Hello,
I have few questions to ask here in the community regarding rom and kernels.
1. Which Rom do you guys recommend that works without any problems (beside cyanogenmod)?
2. If Cyanogenmod which one do you recommend stable or nightly?
3. Which Kernel should i use after rooting my phone that works correctly and has no problems?
Please share with me some of your thoughts and opinions.

1. If you want a 100% working rom with a lot of support go with classic and mikg
2. I don't use cyanogenmod
3.you could stick with stock or try out one of the lionfish kernels. I recommend you use stock voltage one for now

Thanks for replying back appreciate it, Can you please tell me the exact rom name and where would i find updated rom for classic and mikg?

never tried classic, but mikeG is 100% great rom, i need to try out new kernals myself
Myn's Warm series have always been very smooth and stable for me. I'm not going to give you a link, you can find it yourself in the Dev section.
Energy 2/6/12 rom is awesome... nice and smooth pretty much bug free. can be a bit hefty on the internal storage, but with dt a2sd and dalvik on sd card its not bad.

I second this. Wife wanted an iPhone, I wasn't having that. She got an Evo and complained since day one....until this build of MIUI. She is overjoyed now. I've flashed a lot of stuff on mine and am very happy with the look and feel. Much better than any Sense based ROM I have tried by far and doesn't look like any other Android build without heavy customization. Just runs nicely out out of the box.
Doesn't have 4g but I never turned it on anyway.
