Alright I have a Mytouch 3G Slide and I have been having wifi issues after a few weeks of using cm7.0.3. It started to not be able to turn on the wifi and the status would say "connecting.." then it would fail and stay at "disconnected". All my networks would say "Not In Range". I tried to remove and re-add my network but my wifi would not even be able to search for networks since it could not turn on. I tried to update my radio to a newer one I found on XDA (posted in march or april) that was for Froyo 2.2 (my current radio had been the one i was using since i first rooted my phone to cm6), and the new radio I flashed didn't fix anything either. I tried reverting to CM6.1.1. but it would not boot; after It turned on, the Tmobile screen would come up, then a custom splash screen would keep looping (the video would keep looping, normal, but i let it on for about 30-45 minutes and it would still not boot). I don't know why it wouldn't boot up, the only explanation I could think of is my new radio but other than that I don't know..
I would really like my wifi to work on cm7 because I don't have a data plan, but if not, I would atleast be able to run cm6 (where wifi was never an issue for me). Please help!

hey dude had the same problem, and i am not a dev in any way but i think a file within the /system directory is missing or something like that so your best bet is to [unfortunately] install a diffrent rom w/ wifi support, and then flash BACK to CM7.0.3 (not from backup, but from scratch) really hope this helps u man
yo. i had the same problem as you. there's a fix somewhere on the forums about fixing the wifi on cm6. I haven't tried it yet, but i'm thinking of flashing back to cm7, applying the "fix" and see if that has any imporvements
here is the fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896963
I've had similar problems with 7.0.0 RC2. At some point or other, the WiFi just stops working. Can't turn on. Reads as "Connecting...", then gives up and drops to "Disconnected"
The only thing that's made it come back so far is restoring a backup ROM from the ROM Manager, but I hate doing that since I keep having to replay the levels of Angry Birds I've already beat.
Haven't tried doing things like flushing the caches from the boot interface, I'll try that next time it breaks.

Try titanium backup - you should be able to back up the app and the data. Or, there are apps in the market that specifically back up Angry Birds data.
As for me, I've never had wifi problems with CM7. Although it could be I don't use the wifi that much or maybe because I had updated the radio and stuff and had a rooted version of the ota (before the actual update) and then I installed CM6 and then made the jump to CM7.
so all in all there is no real concrete answer to solving the CM7 wifi problem without having to flash an old ROM and then get back to CM?
The link that "the1hand3r" provided seems a bit complex for a problem that the developers could easily fix in anyone of the daily updates.
I could be wrong (and I'd be interested to hear what the above poster found out when replacing those modules from CM6) but CM6 and CM7 use different versions of the Linux kernel.
Those driver modules are compiled to work with a particular version of the kernel and most likely will not work with CM7. If it were that easy, as said above, I imagine someone would have included them in the nightlies by now.
They're probably part of the Slide codebase that hasn't been released as open source. Because of that, ROM devs wouldn't be able to modify or improve on what we already have, unless a newer phone with the same radio chip comes out with updated drivers that can be dropped in to a Slide ROM.
its an easy fix duuudes. download cm6.1.1 final and the latest cm7. open up both in a zip program and in something like sys/etc/wifi you'll find a file called twlan.ini. take that file from cm6 and use it to replace the one in cm7. (same directory) voila!
Can anyone confirm what neoslink1 is true? I'd like to know before I wreck my phone any further.
By the way, does anyone know if the 3G/4G still works if the wifi doesn't?
The 3G still works, at least on mine. My wi-fi quit yesterday, after months of running with no problems. I had not done any updating of the ROM, hadn't changed any operational files. I've enjoyed running CM7, but can't have my wi-fi stop working for no reason.
Odd, I can't move or overwrite the /etc/wifi/tiwlan.ini file. I've logged in as root and used ROM Manager's File Permissions extention but every time I try moving or changing permissions I get:
Code:
#chmod 777 tiwlan.ini
chmod: tiwlan.ini: Read-only file system
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot that I had not applied S-Off on this new phone. That would explain the file permission problem.
it does really work

you should be able too but you will have to reinstall your kernel but you should have asked this on ROMS thread
I did that and the wireless was not working so i recommend to do a complete wipe so you can make sure you dont have problems trust me on the long run its better.

You'll save more time by wiping, believe it or not. A lot of little issues may pop up if you don't.
Do this... Make a nandroid of your 4.4 setup, then try flashing over it with 4.5. If you have problems, either go back to your 4.4 nandroid, or wipe and start over with a fresh flash of 4.5.
thank you for the quick responses i had to wipe every and it is working great average of 40mflops
some questions
I am only a few days old to the flashing a ROM to the HTC Evo but I feel I have a pretty good hang of things. I have the following things:
4.5 Mikfroyo (installed last night after finally reading enough to upgrade to the 4.5)
netarchy 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc flashed
the sdreadahead-512.zip installed for faster SD card speeds ( if you want to try it out... http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/02/h...c-evo-even-faster-than-previous-mod.html#more )
but what i am trying to accomplish now is getting the Vanilla lockscreen to work on my phone. I have read that the 4.5 update seems to have the lockscreen within the ROM already, that I just need to delete or rename the htclockscreen.apk within the system/app folder with the Root Explorer app. Here is my issue though: I have changed the Root Explorer to r/w and have located the file from root--->system-->app--->htclockscreen.apk. If I tap on the file it asks me to install/ view/ or cancel. But I thought it was already installed on the system already? If not, do I need to install it, then delete it? That sounds outright silly but then again some stuff is just that way. I have renamed the file and rebooted but, again, to no success. I know that there was a person asking the same question but I guess I could not understand their conversation enough to know how to follow as they did.
Also, just a general question. why is the 4g toggle missing in the notifications bar now? that was kind of handy for me. oh well, i guess i can just use the HTC toggle on a page instead.
Last question, i would like to flash a new theme to the ROM (white version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853050) But when I downloaded it, set it to the SD card, went into recovery, flashed it, and rebooted, the HTC splash screen (white screen) just stayed on forever. I had to restore from my backup, thank god I knew to do that before hand, and just kept the stock theme with MikFroyo. what could I be doing wrong?
I also am having a problem with the lock screen but mine is a little different. When i boot up and unlock phone for the fisrt time. I get a forced close error. Other then that everything in 4.5 is working good so far

Long press on the .apk, a menu will pop up, then click rename from there. Just did it yesterday and it worked fine. I just added .bk at the end (htclockscreen.apk.bk)
As for the 4g missing in the pulldown menu, you can learn how to change it here (taken from the mikfroyo thread) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877003
thank you Bamba, the lockscreen is now operational and wonderful!!! always have wanted this lockscreen! (Guess it is true, the grass is always greener on the other side.)
as for the missing 4g toggle, i kimd of understand the thread but i will read over it one more time so that i do not mess anything up.
Thanks again!

What kernel are you using if you dont mind me askin?.. and are you using SetCPU or anything?.. Juice defender type stuff?..
I was just wondering cuz I have 4.5 w/ the stock kernel and only get about 28-29 most of the time... not that it really matters, but it does seem a little sluggish goin from app to app.... thanks
i have since switched to vp 3.0 remastered, and is by far in my experience the best rom i have every used. everything is working good for me so far and since falling in love with LP this is the rom for me. I am using the latest radio and pri 1.77 and sbc-net 4.1.9 no havs and it is amazing, really fast. So far I have been on this rom and kernel for 18 hours sitting at 71%. I am going to make a detailed video and post a link to it here and for youtube.
New to mikfroyo,Had cynaogenmod cm7 on evo with cricket.worked ok.3g did.Friday i had it flashed back to sprint.Put cyanogen back on it.worked great.EXCEPT the 3g would go back to 1x. So put 4.5 mikfroyo. and it works great. So my question is were do you get the updates for mikfroyo? cyanogen released nightly builds. Is there a site or info on updates? Also is there a 2.3 android mikfroyo out?

Hey I would have posted this on a different thread but i cant because i just made this account they want atleast 10 posts...
heres the deal... i have a rooted evo and running cm7 which i like, but i was dropping calls and where i live i should have good service. so i got the updated radio/wifi/ ect package and flashed it... it installed but did not help with the call issue... i heard many other having the same problem.
so i flashed the ota root update... which seemed like it did it really fast (wasnt watching the whole time) and the phone rebooted but gets stuck at the white htc evo screen, i let it sit there for 20 mins nothing, so right now i am recovering my old cm7... just wondering if anyone has that same problem or can help with getting better voice reception on cm7.. like i said i have tried the package for radio ect... and my prl was updated before i flashed to stable of cm7 so that should be in good standing i would imagine... thanks..
The obvious first question is, did you do a full and complete wipe of everything before you flashed the ROM?
As far as your signal, it may have been just in my area, but I know a few people that had problems texting and making calls, getting a "Network Is busy" error.
yea i did the wipe data/cache i wasnt dropping calls before the cm7 so im not sure right now im shootin to myns seeing how that is... cm7 was first flash i did
well as im trying to flash to the myns its looking like the samething... ill go through the steps...
have zip file in root of sd card
open up rom manager, have the newest clockwork thing installed
i goto flash from sd wipe data and cache are checked... i already have a backup so i skip that part
it installs.... says install is done and reboots itself... but seems to stay on that white bootscreen
if i take the battery out then i can reboot with recovery from the save file i have
blah i dont know... i got the ota installed... looked like it got a bit better reception.. i updated prl and came back to cm7 same probs... i dunno maybe ill just have to let go of cm7... really dont want to though its so sexy lol
I had the same weak signal issue with cm7 and had dropped calls and data dropping to 1x. I am on stock rooted 2.3.3 and reception is good again. Liked cm7 but need a phone I can use in the boonies.

Dude, please, don't use ROM Manger.
Just boot to recovery, hopefully, you have Amon Ra, if not, search how to get it on your phone, it's not hard, do a FULL WIPE, full, wipe everything in recovery, then flash the ROM in recovery.
No offense to the Dev, I know he's a great guy, a smart guy, hard worker that makes a contribution, but Rom Manager is not the best way to do this.
Yea had to do it manually but nymph works now liking it so far
ok now i have different problem.... got the myn working liking it, but my market is completely different, not just the theme, but the apps i usually download... so tried to flash new market but it just open/closes quickly... any ideas for that?
Not sure by what you mean by the apps you usually d/l.
One thing about the Market in these newer ROMS is that sometimes, you just need to give it some time to fully sync before all your apps so up...
You should pull the market out of the zip file for the ROM and re-install that one, but you'll have to delete the one you have installed now, first.
umm usually download ninjump cant find that just some games that are usually on my phone the market on cm7 had them... ill give it a try though
look on the android market website
Just installed, but no gapps and no recovery or reboot option, just shutdown.
So far sensors seem to work- rotation, proximity is a little slow after pulling away from face
Call volume is much improved
GPS turns on, have not been able to get outside to test for satellite lock yet
Wireless will not turn on - no foce close, just wont enable
Data works - downloading New Market to try and bump gapps install ( no PC available for adb at the moment)
Will post details in a bit
MMS sends, have not received reply yet
Still unable to install gapps, any ideas?
Very fast and very vanilla
Ha, I'm stuck at work too! Really looking forward to seeing how it runs. I'm sure you can flash the gapps package jt has in his CM7 thread. And if your drivers are set up on your pc you should be able to adb reboot recovery.... hopefully.
Did you ask JT if you could post the link here? You think there might be a reason he is only posting on twitter and not here?

Since it is vanilla Gingerbread, the only option to recovery is three finger, although I did not try to install ROM Manager, so it may work to boot straight into recovery.
I odin'd the cw4 from Jt's CM7 post, but still got errors about not being able to mount /system, so I guess there are still file system differences between CM7, Gingerbread, and Froyo.
I had to odin back to stock, flash CM7, then restore my backup.
With the limited time I played with it, it performed spectacularly aside from the previously mentioned issues.
Once I can get gapps and a working recovery installed it could easily be a daily driver for me.

If you have JT's .zip file for installing CM7, when you tell CWM (red) to Install Zip from SD card, and choose the CM7 zip, it will auto-reboot you into CWM blue.
from there you can easily flash any of the new CM7 roms, including MIUI, OMFGB, and of course the CM7 zip that got you into the blue recovery in the first place.
Also, put JT's gapps .zip file onto your SD card and flash with thew new CWM after you have installed the rom. shouldn't need adb to install that.
I noticed yesterday that his release has Dev Tools which includes the Terminal Emulator. So I ended up just rebooting that way

Did not think about that, I am going to re-flash it later this afternoon from scratch to try some GPS fixes also...
Does anyone know if this project is still being worked on? I haven't seen any mention of it from JT since the original tweet.
I would like to use this as a daily-driver if it's stable enough.
AOSP Gingerbread isn't really a project, it's plain Gingerbread as Google released it. Not really a whole lot to work on after it's Fascinate ready.

JTs vanilla GB is very light and very fast. This is GB as Android intended it to be. Nothing more than an OS really. No FB contact integration, appears no video or does not play avi, video recorder without 720p record.
He has released a second version and added a few things.
Many others are having this same issue with no resolution. See threads at the bottom of this post.
I received my Xoom back after the LTE upgrade and confirmed it was 3.2.2. Like a freaking idiot, instead of Rooting the factory installed 3.2.2 image, I just flashed Solarnz's 3.2.2 ROM assuming it was basically the same thing. At that moment, I lost 3g connectivity and have not been able to gain it back.
I noticed that under "Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> System Select" I have Automatic or Home. Before wiping the factory image, I had "LTE/CDMA" options which the instructions specifcally mentioned.
I'm very confused because AxeMachine confirmed that he DID have the LTE/CDMA option when flashing one of the same images I tried. See here
*Yes, 3g was working with the factory image
*No, I did not do a nandroid (I know, I know...)
Images I've flashed:
[ROM/UPDATE] Android Honeycomb 3.2.2 - Stock & Rooted.
The nandroid short/y posted here
The image AxeMachine posted here
3.2.2 "PIlot" image posted by AxeMachine
I've also re-locked, went back to 3.0.1 and upgraded via OTAs to 3.2 but don't get prompted for any further updates.
Yes, I always fastboot -w (wipe userdata and cache) unless the image comes with a userdata partition.
Like many others, I've spent an hour on the phone with VZW support and confirmed it's not an issue with my area or account.
This is the behavior:
*The radio works and detects the Verizon Wireless network.
*Activation succeeds
*After disabling/enabling Mobile Data, Mobile Status says 'Connecting' but then changes to 'Disconnected' after a few seconds.
*In this logcat you can see it disconnecting, reason=null http://pastebin.com/QRqkYcnv

Yeah join the FUBAR Club.
I was in the same boat as you did the same thing.
I now have my Xoom back to HLK75C and have 4G/3G and Wifi connectivity again so all is not lost!
What I did to fix my situation:
-I wiped the Device and just went through Solarnz's Root Method here.
-Download the HLK75C (This is the build the 4G Xoom's shipped back with) file that AceXMachine provided here, post #6
-Extract the File to your Android SDK Platform-Tools folder, password is AceXMachine
-Follow his instructions to apply the images. I copy pasted but all credit goes to him for putting this out there.
On Windows shift and right click the Platform-Tools folder -> Open Command Window here.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
After following all of this I had my Xoom back just like it had come back from Moto after the upgrade. I've since then flashed the Tiamat Tachi OC GPU Kernel to have Overclocking again. No issues since then, have full 4G/3G Connectivity and Wifi has no issues as well.
Hope this Helps!
Kernel for 4G Xoom's?
Has anyone else tried the "[KERNEL][AOSP]Tiamat Xoom 2.1.0 "Tachi" [Update: 08/03]" kernel on their 4G Xoom yet?
No offense to Saintfyre but maybe he got lucky somehow.
Would love to get OC back but would hate to loose 4G especially after Waiting a week and a half for it.
The only thing I have done to mine since I got it back is Unlock and root it. It was wiped clean.
I guess I can get back to stock anyways.
Dan
I have no problems with 4G and 3G, my problem is I cannot connect to any WiFi networks, it just won't do it.
Regarding - "I have no problems with 4G and 3G, my problem is I cannot connect to any WiFi networks, it just won't do it."
Have you tried deleting out all your saved Access points? I have seen numerous occasions where one will somehow get corrupted and then it won't connect to any until that one is deleted. Back them up with Titanium first. Do they show in Wi-Fi analyzer ok?
I assume you are talking after you put on Tiamat Tachi?
I had issues with the Rogue Arcturus Kernel and then I flashed Tachi over it and had nothing but a ****storm of headaches.
I rewiped though, reapplied the images, and applied Tachi on it fresh and haven't had any issues so maybe that has something to do with it?
I'm not that technical to understand what it is that's causing the issues.

Thanks for the reply. That is definitely one of the images I've flashed and no luck. I'll definitely try it again when I get home and see if I get lucky.
EDIT/UPDATE: Same results as before. I've flashed every image possible at least 5 times. I always start fresh, flash userdata and cache, etc. I'm worried that the factory installed 3.2.2 contained a radio image update that is needed for the new 4g hardware and when I reverted back, I over wrote it.

No, I haven't flashed any kernels. I've also added brand new hotspots that it's never connected to before, no luck. Just perpetually says 'Obtaining IP Address...' Pretty frustrating. I rely on WiFi quite a bit, I've got the 3gb plan and have no intention of going over it... It connected to WiFi no problem until I flashed the rooted stock image in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
Didn't do a Nandroid, didn't read the thread to see that others were having this same issue... Have no problem switching between 3G and 4G.
I did a full system Titanium Backup before I sent it out, and reloaded everything after getting the rooted image on, that's when I noticed the WiFi issue... Thought it was related to the Titanium Backup reloading all of my system settings so I wiped and started over, reloaded the image as well just to be sure... Reloaded my apps only, no system settings and still the same exact issue.
That's most likely what it was. You can back up all user apps but have to be careful with overwriting system apps.

This saved me too. Big time. Question for you. Did you get the OTA to HLK75D afterward or are you still on HLK75C? Thanks.
i may need to try this... but is it possible to get the stock kernel extracted out of this so I can replace the tachi I installed? Would that be me just flashing the boot image part of this?
Ever since I installed an aftermarket kernel after I got my 4g upgrade I have had major wireless issues. 3g /4g /wifi work great during use... but if I set my xoom down for a lil while and come back the wireless is frozen... shows connected but its white and gets no data, can't toggle wifi or airplane mode... only way to fix is a reboot. I'm hoping the stock kernel will alleviate this horriple symptom.
Thank you.

I had to put on the HLK75D afterward manually but it installed ok and I have had no problems with it. I am still on the stock kernal. I think if I remember right it tried to do the auto update right after I flashed the HLK75C system but failed. I got the HLK75D Upgrade/patch from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18243360&postcount=10
I had to flash the HLK75C system image because I mistakenly restored over some system files using Titanium Backup when I was doing my app restore. Flashing the system.img and then doing fastboot erase userdata worked to fix that.

Thanks for this.
Tachi seems OK for 4G Xoom after all
I went ahead and got gutsy and put on the Tachi "[KERNEL][AOSP]Tiamat Xoom 2.1.0 "Tachi" [Update: 08/03]" kernel in hopes it wouldn't screw up the 4G yesterday and I could get OC back. So far it's been fine for me. I have brought it out of sleep about 15 times and so far it hasn't had any glitches.
I did notice that this morning I was already out of battery which surprised me a little but that may be just a fluke. I was using it a ton yesterday afternoon.
For me at my house the 4G signal is actually stronger than my 3G, i can get 4g pretty reliably and fast from my basement and I can't get 3G at all from down there.
Yeah. Don't go back to HRI66 and take ota updates. One of them overwrites the baseband. Phail.

I did notice a couple times I have not been able to wake up the Xoom at all and had to do the reset on it to reboot it. It's only happened twice out of about 30 wake ups, it could be a app issue.

i have had this issue in the past if the min clock speed is too low. Bump it up a notch and see if it solves the problem.

Tried this yesterday but it didn't solve my problem. I have wifi but no 3g/4g. I am now on HLK75D but even that did not fix the 3g/4g issue.

Is your sim card inserted? Lte hardware needs it for even a 3G connection.

Someone mentioned a way to use the new T-Mobile OTA on an AT&T Nexus S. It wasn't totally clear so I figured I'd put up a little more info. I'll get the rough guide up and fill in links later. This will require a computer with fastboot, and either a wifi connection for the phone, or using adb on a computer to push files to the phone while it isn't able to connect to AT&T.
I take no liability for anything going wrong with your phone, cat, significant other, or anything else, as a result of the contents of this guide.
Problems
- Stock recovery keeps replacing Clockwork Recovery. I have to reflash clockwork by fastboot every time.
- This method will leave you with a non-rooted phone
1) Get the phone onto T-Mobile Android 2.3.6 - I did this by using the "Stock" install in Rom Manager, which is 2.3.3. It automatically downloaded the update to 2.3.6, which I then installed. This step is needed because the ICS OTA is an upgrade, not a full install.
2) Update to ICS. I had already directly downloaded the zip from Google, but you might be able to get it by the system upgrade check, or by Rom Manager.
3) Install an AT&T radio - the original stock image (2.3.3) works fine, but once you upgrade to 2.3.6, you have a T-Mobile only radio. The upgrade to ICS will stick with a T-Mobile only radio. Grab an AT&T radio from this thread and get it on the phone. Use fastboot to reset the recovery to ClockworkMod Recovery, and use ClockworkMod to install it. UCKF1 didn't work for me, but UCKE1 did.
Reserved. At the bar.

yeah thats where got the radio. but it doesn't specify which is for att. just that they are for 9020a,
either way I figured it out. ATT needs the UCKE1 radio. and it works
so ive got GT-I9020A on AT&T working with this ICS ---- WOOT

Delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh. This probably something people have long forgotten...
You can do that right after flashing 4.0.3 in CWM. Just
Code:
adb shell rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Remember to mount /system if it's not mounted already.
Second that. Worked for me.
Instead of ROM Manager I downloaded T mobile 2.36, 3.04 and radio first.
Then flash CWM, 2.36, CWM, 4.03 & radio and then deleted recovery.sh as mentioned.
Working so far.
I assume we can do the same to revert back to official 9020a 4.03 when it drops.
Happy flashing.

I am using adb install to push apk's directly to device.
How stable is the tmo ics on the at&t nexus s, I'm getting impatient waiting for the official update

It works fine. I haven't had crashes. It is a bit slower than gingerbread but not terrible. I did a complete wipe after updating and I haven't had any major battery issues some reported.
Btw, you can flash the radio right after flashing 4.0.3. There is no need to boot into ICS, reboot into recovery, and then flash the radio. That way the initial setup can work of 3g not just wifi.

Yes. You will just need to reflash clockworkmod recovery (since stock recovery doesn't let you downgrade) and flash the full the full 2.3.6 rom.
Checking in on this thread to see what radio i9020a people are using on 4.0.3. I currently have XXXKB3 but find that data loses connection when i'm deep indoors. Any suggestions?
I'm currently using UCKD1 but am not entirely satisfied. I occasionally lose my data connection and have to reboot the phone, although I don't know if it is radio-related or not. On ICS 4.04.

I tried UCKD1 today and for the most part it worked well but I did experience the dreaded search bug about 4 times in one night. It has managed to keep the connection without dropping even once in something like 9 hours.
I also tried flashing UCKE1 earlier but it gave me some kind of error when flashing and was unsuccessful. From what i've read, UCKE1 is a bit better than KD1 but doesn't have the search bug problem.
i just updated my 9020a from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 i justed flashed the update zip its working great
