HD2 power on but won't boot. stuck on htc screen - HD2 General

hey guys. so i got my hands on a buddy's hd2 to help flash but entering the tri-color bootloader and trying to flash it to a 6.5 rom, it shows that it does not have a previous image.
anyway, i go on trying to flash it but everytime is says error: corrupted image file.
any help?
edit: it's world wide HD2
edit 2:
it's just stuck on HTC Screen. plain white with HTC in the middle. does not go into WinMo6.5

HardSPL. Looks like you don't have it.

got 2.08 HSPL

The update utility never shows a previous version when you enter bootloader manually, because it pulls that info from the registry, which is inaccessible from bootloader.

i managed to flash the Energy ROM winmo6.5 using an sd card.
it stays on the splash screen and does not boot to OS. :\??

you need to flash the custom ruu inside the custom rom itself. not an sd card

only if i could. i cant access OS.

HD2 stuck at the HTC boot screen

Hello, I have some problems with my mob.phone HTC HD2: after using Flash mobile stop working, then I tried install windows and tried turn on first time and my phone shows white screan with name HTC and don`t work at all, then i tried reset and Hard reset all setings and turn on again and than screan appears again with name HTC.
When i conect my phone to pc by usb, so my pc can`t find that phone.
Can you help me with this problem.
Thank you.
you should get your stock rom, ONLY your stock rom, extract the file ruu_signed.nbh
copy that file to your sd card formatted to fat 32 rename the file to leoimg.nbh
phone off
hold volume down
tap power (keep volume held)
phone should boot to three colors screen and start to flash.
this will ONLY work with original rom.
Thanks for Help.
Same problem......
I am also stuck in the white HTC screen, (R 2.06.51.07 G 15.30.50.07U D 1.66.76641). I can flash from SD card and so i tried, using the image in the latest official RRU, no way, it doesn't fix the problem.
I didnt try any unofficial rom, i just updated to the latest rom from HTC, it worked fine. The problem occurs after i had to restart the phone while trying to connect to a xifi AP...
Any idea what i should try now ?
Thanks. You saved my day.

OMG! Thank you so much! I love you!!!!!! I was stuck on boot because my flash failed and i followed your instructions and now i can flash again!!! i was so worried and if it weren't for you i would be screwed. Really you are a HUGE help! Keep the good work up
how long did you guys have to wait till the htc rebooted after that flash? cause ive been waiting for over 30 minutes and i thought i made that wrong.
Note: ive used HSPL fist, then flashed it with energyleo.23547, but energyleo kept stuck in bootloader
now im pretty afraid of loosing manufactors warranty ...
well lads, pay attention: ive fixed that my problem all by myself. HINT: ive kept holding the buttons for to long, so the device got stock while starting up. so dont press the voldown-button for too long, maybe only for 2 seconds!
hard reset
Remember boys and girls - if you get stuck on the bootloader you can also do the following:
1. Remove the battery to turn the phone off, leave 3 seconds
2. Replace battery and hold down the vol down button and turn on your device to get into the bootloader
3. It should say 'serial'. Plug your USB cable in and it'll change to 'USB'
4. Flash your stock ROM as normal using ActiveSync method. This will also reinstall the SPL (in the case of people who can't get past the first white HTC screen). I did this after the first (and only) time I tried to do it the SD card method. Put my stock SPL back on my phone

im pretty sure that flashing over usb won't do the spl. only sd card flashing can touch the spl.
When I tried to flash (after installing HSPL) using the sd card method and it bricked I went into the bootloader and it put my stock SPL back on - hence why I said if the sd card fails

I'd be inclined to suspect that In your case the spl was flashed during the failed sd card flash, so was already stock spl when you then flashed the stock rom over usb.(which of course being stock doesn't need hspl )
Hi Guys
I'm having the same problem, however, I bought the phone second hand. My question is how do I find out what my stock ROM is?
cheers

you download HSPL, run it, and if your spl is anything else than 1.42 it will give out an error and no harm is done
Hey
Thanks for replying. Do I get the stock ROM from the HTC website, is there a way to get it as a .nbh file as I am currently on a mac.
thanks

White Screen and HTC logo
I have found a similar problem, I flashed the HSPL rom following the instructions to the letter in the NOOB section.
Restarted my HTC HD2 having hard reset, and it would start and begin the installation and setup, once the setup completes, the software requests a soft reset, at this point my phone hangs on the white boot up screen with the HTC logo.
What am I doing wrong?
Stuck on White HTC Screen after ROM update
Why is it that, having run the HSPL update on my HD2 and checked that its successful, does my phone hang on the white HTC boot screen when it reboots after setup.
I have installed the energy rom, the most recent version. It still hangs at the boot after the rom does the soft reset...
Help please?

Any more ideas?

HTC logo NOT BOOTING HD2

I have searched far and wide to solve this problem and have finally found the solution somewhere hidden amongst pages and pages of text.
I tried installing Android onto my phone until it stopped at the boot process (white screen with green HTC logo) and that was it... I have seen many people asking how to get around this problem. Here is what I found:
1. Enter boot loader by holding down volume down button and the on/off/hold button.
2. When the screen with red, green, blue, white colours comes up connect the phone to your PC and start ActiveSync. In the white bit USB should show up instead of serial.
3. Now install ROM update form HTC website.
That's it! I spent 2 days trying to create a GoldCard to boot the ROM from my micro SD card until I saw this hidden somewhere.
Hope this helps!
Firstly, this is not hidden, it is almost the default answer to stuck on boot up screen.
Secondly, why are you goldcarding? If you have a 3.14 ROM, downgrade it to a non3.14 ROM (taking great care that it is one suitable for your phone). Install HSPL to 2.08.HSPL flash a .50 RADIO (2.08.50 or higher) then go through the process of flashing the NAND Android. If you are dual booting and simply running Android of the SD card, then you probably don't need to flash anything.

Bricked or?

Hi there
I got an HD2 from a friend (he bought off ebay) and seems to just boot to the Tmobile sticking together logo and won't boot.
I don't think it charges as well...
there was no lines (radio?) at the bottom of the Sticking Together pink square screen...
is this phone bricked? or can I still flash a rom?
Ok try this, turn the phone off then hold the low volume botton n the power botton at the same time, n if it takes u to the bootloader then u r good, just search on how to install a rom of ur choise, good luck

Well the fact that it will even turn on means it is not bricked. A bricked HD2 will not even turn on the most it will do is flash tihe led light and vibrait a couple of times.
Follow the instructions of the above post and pull up bootloader, if bootloader comes up you can save the HD2. Depending on if you want to flash a official srock ROM or a custom ROM to the HD2 will dictate your next step.
If you want a official stock ROM then just download and flash the official update from T-Mobile.com just type in HTC HD2 update in the search box on the home page and you will find it. You will have to enter the IMEI number to download it wich you can find this number behind the battery. To flash it connect the HD2 to a computer via USB cable while in bootloader and wait for the serial in the white bar at the bottom of the bootloader screen to change to USB and the computer to show it recognizes the HD2 then run the update utility and follow all the on screen instructions.
If you want to flash a custom ROM as in custom Windows Mobile, NAND Andriod ROM, or Windows Phone 7 ROM then you will have to flash HSPL to the HD2. Download HSPL4 and flash 2.08 HSPL if hou want to flash a NAND Andriod ROM as MAGLDR only supports 2.08 HSPL. Or a Windows Phone 7 Rom, or flash 3.03 if you just want to flash a custom Windows Mobile ROM.
Now if you want a NAND Andriod ROM or Windows Phone 7 you will have to download MAGLDR and flash it to the HD2.
If you want a custom Windows Mobile ROM download the ROM of your choice and fladh it using the .exe or RUU wich ever one the ROM has. Note do all flashing of what I have previously mentioned via the method I mentioned before.
If you are wanting to flash a NAND Andriod ROM or Windows Phone 7 ROM then download the ROM of your coice and flash it using MAGLDR and the instructions of the ROM developer in thread for the ROM.
Now this is very important. I see from the picture you have a T-Mobile(TMOUS) HD2 so no matter what you do, do not flash a ROM with a radio version that reads like these 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any radio that is x.xx.51.xx they will brick/kill a TMOUS HD2.

I would recommend flashing a stock T-Mobile ROM, since that appears to be the flavor of the phone. This will install the correct radio. Once the phone is working, continue as per normal for flashing the ROM. You will have to reinstall hardspl.
thanks for the info guys! i really appreciate the support!
it seems like it won't read the USB... is the port busted?

try this:
1) download your stock ROM.
2) put it on your SD card via a card reader, you want an .NBH file.
3) rename the file LEOIMG.NBH
4) make sure the phone is off, make sure your SD card is back in your phone.
5) hold down and power
6) it should go to a tri-color screen and say something about flashing the image, hit power to confirm
7) it should flash no problems.

Have exactly the same problem with my friends phone.
Its a TMOUS and sticks on the same boot screen.
He screwed it up when trying to install Android NAND on it.
I can enter bootloader And I have managed to get rid of MAGLDR and CWM.
I have HSPL 3.03 installed on it, but when I try to install the latest ROM from TMOUS it fails at 8% and tells me that
'ERROR 290: INVALID COMMAND
This update Utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility'
Tried copying the relevant file to the SD card and renaming it leoimg.nbh but the install fails HERE aswell with the error:
"RADIO_V2 - RSA Fail"
I managed to install an energyrom onto it, but it wouldnt go past the initial boot screen
Any help appreciated

Try running a Task 29 on your friends HD2. This willtotally clean out the NAND memory of the HD2 and reformat it, kinda sounds like that is what is needed to be done. He may have messed the NAND memory format up when he was trying to install the Andriod. You will have to reflash a Windows Mobile ROM after you run the Task 29 as it will not ha e a ROM on the phone then. You will not have to reflash HSPL cause it will not remove it.
It seems that the problem is RADIO related. I can task 29, and I can install The latest Energyrom, but I CANT install a radio.
There is no radio ON the phone at the minute it seems. When I try to do a radio install, it asks me if I want to go from version ' ' to the update I am using.
None of the installers see a radio on the phone, and trying to install the radio always fails at 96%. This would seem to be the same if I try to install the official TMOUS latest ROM with radio from SD Card. It fails at the radio install part.......
Maybe time for a new thread for this one.......

There are plenty of threads on this, but go to HTC website, download the correct rom for your phone. You can use the serial number to get the right one.
Then extract the files. Take the .nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh. Put it onto your SD card and go into the boot loader and it will flash your phone back to stock settings.

[Q] HD2 not responding

Dear all,
Some time ago some guy came over to me to have his phone (HD2) reflashed. I installed the HardSPL, eMagldr 1.13 and the 400mb file-system as needed for the rafdroid version I installed. Everything worked out fine. But now he has manually flashed CWM without changing filesystem etcetera and took out SD card and formatted it. The phone did actually boot in CWM, and he sold it to me. Now I wanted to do a factory reset, but the phone wouldn't boot anymore, nothing. I tried flashing back stock ROM, but the phone will not be found. I cannot even reflash the 400mb filesystem, it says RSPL.cpp missing... I'm running out of ideas and I'm starting to panic a little. So here are my problems:
- Phone crashed when booted into AD RECOVERY;
- Phone does not start up in any way, when lucky stuck forever in CWM bootlogo (for over 60 minutes);
- When booting into bootloader (volume down + power), a text "loading" should appear, but it doesn't;
I have no clue what to do from here. I don have the T-Mobile version of the phone I do know that . But it seems not to respond to anything which sucks. But I do get into MAGLDR with the menu choices so the device can not be ****ed up too bad.
Please advise me on this

Only if you have a correctly named leoimg.nbh on the SD card, and the SD card is 4gb or smaller, please confirm?
RE
You're right about the logo i meant CM ( cyanogen ) sorry for that, and no my sd is 4Gb and I named the file LEOIMG.nbh with capitals so going to try that ou tomorrow, but it still doesnt explain why my computer did not find my device with RUU update.. :s
Thanks for your help though you gave me some ideas
Leoimg in capitals should be ok,, correctly extracted from a stock rom? (People still sometimes make the mistake of simply renaming the whole romname.zip file, without extracting the ruu_signed.nbh file first)

When you try to run the RUU, does it say USB in the white bar of bootloader? if not you have adriver issue and need to install Active Synce(Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center(Windows Vista and 7).
RE:
Yes it does say USB and I managed to do a vodafone update from the HTC site. Though I don't know if it was a vodafone branded device, but that shouldn't matter right?
Anyway, I'm stuck forever in the "HTC" screen in green letters. So this time I'm stuck way earlier. But I'm going to give it half an hour and see what happens. I had to run the update three times before it succeeded so I doubt it.
But another thing, now I ran the update MAGLDR will be restored in its factory form right? And recovery and **** has been removed so I could try to reinstall them and go on from there if the phone won't boot, right?
RE:
Now I can't even get into MAGLDR. The phone is stuck in the first bootscreen saying HTC for over 3 hours now, I turned off my phone and I'm running the update again now, getting errors again. What do you advise? I still got an 8GB sd cart in it but I read somewhere that is OK.
If you flashed a stock rom, magldr is gone, magldr is a hacked together bootloader from the dft hackers,,, there is no "factory form".
Most 8gb or larger cards wont flash nbh files, but some do,
If you downloaded the rom from HTC using your phones serial number, then yes, its voda branded.
I suspect some corruption, some variant of stuck radio, .
I'd start by trying to use hspl2.exe to set hspl 1.66.0000 then flash the stock rom from SD taking careful note of the blue writing during the flash,
As Samsamuel said if you flashed a stock ROM MAGLDR is gone4 and you will have to re install MAGLDR, You being stuck at the splash screen could be caused be the stock ROM you flashed not being the correct stock ROM cause if you flashed it via SD card you removed HSPL and there for if it is not the correct ROM it will not boot. Also if you flashed it via RUU and it is a older ROM version the HSPL 2.08 that you have might no be compatible with the ROM causing it to stick at the splash screen. Maybe this will help some.
