[URGENT]Froyo rom flashable via recovery - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi, i need a Samsung's Froyo rom to come back from CM7 before i sell this phone, the problem is that i have no usb cable.
Is there any way to do that?

NOPE
to come from CM7 - Stock ROM you need a 3 file firmware with PIT and Re-partition
you can only do this through odin

Dammit!
I'm ****ed

get a usb cable problem solved lol
or sell it with CM7 running

Where to buy it?
As far as i can see, that's not the regular mini-usb cable

buy one from ebay, your local phone shop , amazon anywhere
or direct from samsung, or even borrow a friends

Thanks mate

The Galaxy S uses a MICRO-USB port, like most phones today (manufacturers have adopted it as standard). You can purchase a USB -- micro-usb cable in many shops, for $5 or less.
You need to disable lagfix before flashing a stock ROM again. Be sure to boot into CWM recovery, advanced and disable lagfix. Reoboot the phone so it disables lagfix, go back into recovery again to be sure that lagfix is disabled.
Then you can flash any ROM using ODIN

Did I brick my Epic?

Okay, so I had a thread before about getting EB13 on my phone.
Well, at this point, I don't care about that, I just want my phone to work.
Here's what happened, I tried running the Samsung EB13 flash and it failed (my phone got stuck on a green screen)
Now, it won't boot (stuck on Samsung screen)
So I'm trying to use Odin to flash back to stock, but it gets stuck at <ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
PLEASE tell me this isn't bricked?
If it's not, how can I fix it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: This time Odin froze on the next step, Initialization..
What are you coming from (DK28, DI18, etc) and which stock are u ODIN'ing back to? (Hopefully DI18). Also, check ur USB cables, I find that is a common problem when things don't go as planned. (At least it has been for me.)

I had stock (rooted) DI18 installed, and now I'm just trying to use Odin to flash the stock kernel (since I assume I can use my CWM backup to fix everything else?)
If not, I'll try using a full tarball for DI18 (if you think that's what I should use instead)

I did follow (basically) the same instructions.
By that I mean I wasn't looking at those, but I did the same steps.
Problem is it crashes pretty early on after starting.
Something wrong with the EB13 utility & Odin's connection to my phone.
Very strange.
Starting to freak out though.

Try re-installing the utility in the link I gave you, and try again.
Try ODINing back to DI18 proper, full tar. I also had issues with the EB13 utility and while I didn't brick my phone, maybe if you're having issues it's best to do DI18 then update.zip?
(As long as you can get into download mode, I think it's safe to say you're not bricked..)
Okay, so I used Odin with the EB13 tarball and it started going, but seems to have hung at factoryrfs.rfs
There was a progress bar on my phone, but now the screen is just solid cyan and Odin's progress bar isn't moving.
Any ideas?
Assuming this step just doesn't take a long time.

He said he just tried the kernel and asked whether or not he should do the full DI18 tar.
Which USB cable are you using? If it's the stock cable that came with your Epic, ditch that ****. They suck! Go get a different USB-A male to micro USB-B male plug, such as the Gigaware cable that Radio Shack sells. I can personally attest to the fact that the OEM cable that Samsung/Sprint provide is not very reliable: once I switched to the Radio Shack / Gigaware cable, my flashing problems cleared up.

OP states he attempted to flash back to stock, didn't say anything about kernel.

I'm using a cable I had from having bought a Micro USB charger. I think it's a Palm one.
Currently trying to Odin DI18, but my phone is back to not being recognized.
Maybe both these cables are no good...
Okay, I'm trying the DI18 tarball, and my phone just goes to a solid color screen on a random step (seems to always be zImage or factoryrfs.rfs)
Is this really just 2 bad cables?
Could always try another USB port. I've seen posted in threads time and time again that users having a problem would then change ports and things just worked.

I've tried that as well.
Even tried 2 different computers.
Always ends up with my phone going into a solid color screen...
Why do I get a feeling this is gonna end up being a full brick.
I do have the equipment protection policy on it, so if I just tell them I lost it, any idea if they'd replace it?
Since I assume bringing in a phone with CWM would cause my warranty to be voided.

I think since you were trying to update using the Samsung tool, it would be a covered replacement in the Sprint store. Even if you didn't use the Samsung tool, given the roll out you should still be covered--regardless if you had the insurance or not.
may not be helpful but worth a shot.. i have this issue everytime i odin.. (not exactly what you have but phone is stuck on restarting adb agent or something)
basically i have ms security essentials and windows firewal turned out..somehow .. (i have no clue) .. while they are running odin will wait forever.. the moment i disable both ms sec essentials and windows firewall it would work... not sure if this is the same case but u might want to give it a shot.
Alright, crisis averted.
Seems I got lucky one time and Odin went through and restored DI18 successfully.
Then I applied update.zip and am now happily running EB13
Thanks for your help everyone!
Just a tip for the future: I've found that when I ran the newer cwm and ext4, every time I tried to odin a stock tar, it would fail if I didn't check the re-partition box. Posssibly doing the same may have helped you.

Trying To Re-root No Stuck :-(

Hi guys,
I am trying to re-root as Tab needs to go in to be fixed. I copied across my nandroid backup and then tried to restore it but the MD5 checksum failed :-( I had already done a factory reset and format of system and am now stuck at the Samsung Logo. I can't mount the USB storage to copy over a different ROM to get it back up and running again. I have tried to mount USB storage in CWM 4.0.4 and 5.0.2.3 but keep getting "E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)".
Is the Tablet bricked? Is there a way out of this?
Help appreciated as am getting worried....
M
I was able to access my SDcard from recovery using Droid Explorer (google it):
1. do not connect Tab to PC
2. start Droid Explorer on PC
3. On your Tab in CWM: mounts and storage > mount system, data, efs (I don't know if all this is necessary, but It's what I did), mount USB storage
4. Connect Tab to PC, hit refresh icon in Droid Explorer
Now you should be able to access SDcard in Droid Explorer. You can only transfer individual files though, so any folder structures must be done manually.
Failing that, if you can get into download mode:
If you can get into download mode (which you should be able to), you can just use Odin to flash a new ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167250
The ASIAN ROM (Sept.) is the most recent (don't worry it defaults to English). Also, this will wipe your SDcard, but will get everything back to working order.
Thanks SO much for getting in touch, much appreciated! Well Droid Explorer is not working......I can connect via Odin though (thank God!). How exactly do I flash a ROM with it mate? Only ever done recoveries before....
Cheers,
M

Watch the first 2-3 mins of this video to see how to operate ODIN. In the video the guy is trying to root his tab, whereas you are trying to go back to stock rom. So the bit where he chooses the pda from his zip file, you just substitute that with the pda and csc from the asian rom file using the link in the post above me.

You need to use a ROM that is specifically flash-able in Odin. Pretty much just follow the directions in the link and you should be good to go.
After that, you'll need to re-install CWM, but once you're done that, you can flash whatever ROM you want just like you're used to.

dpakrr, you are a LEGEND! I was able to get back to stock thanks to you after I thought I was screwed! I had to send the Tab back today for repair to Samsung as it is not being recognised at all by any PC I hook it up too. Not being recognised by Kies either.....you think it's a hardware fault?? I have tried three different PC's with three different OS's on them!
I flashed the stock ROM using Odin back onto it before sending it, will they be able to tell it was rooted? I noticed a flash counter on the Odin screen so wonder will that now be + 1?? I checked and Clockworkmod Recovery was gone, all that was there was the stock recovery.....
Cheers,
M

your welcome mate. im going to limerick for 3.5 months this friday and i love guinness beer so consider that a thank you to the irish lol.
hm well if you have followed the basic guidelines like turning usb debugging off, installing kies and reinstalling samsung mobile drivers and the samsung customer service has no idea whats going on then there is definitely something wrong. so yes could be a hardware fault but just seems strange.
nah the stock rom is not rooted and as you said recovery is back to stock as well, thats all the samsung guys should be worried about. dont think they'll care too much about odin flash counter etc. they will just have a look at the os on your tab and its now stock, so should be fine.

Phew Thanks for all the help man, so many good people here on XDA! I was just thinking that the machine sees the Tab when in ODIN mode but why not in Windows mode? What is the difference? Are low low level hardware drivers used for ODIN that Windows does not have access too?
By the way have a GREAT time in Limerick, it's a cool town and you will not find nicer people!
All the best,

yes that is it mate. thats what i think it is, odin's got low level drivers which the OS doesnt. thats why I thought the samsung mobile drivers might help the OS identify the tab as well but that didnt work for u either did it. so the tab is probably faulty.
cheers mate, yeh look forward to having a great time in limerick

I'm not sure what causes it. Could be an internal rom missing a flashed image. You were just really unlucky . This is very rare so I wouldn't worry too much

Flashing/Update Without USB

Hi guys
I have a i9000 with these software info:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: i9000XXJPK
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] S603 #2
Compilation N°: ECLAIR.XWJF7
The USB connector not work, and my pc don't recognice the phone.
I want to know if is possible to update or flash it without an USB cable.
Note that I can transfer files with WIFI or Bluethoot, and can go into Download Mode and Recovery mode with any problems.
Thanks too much.
Hahaha someone was looking for 2.1 some days ago . The recovery you get is only 2e, and there are two bootloader upgrades to newer versions, so you need a computer and.an USB cable to upgrade.
How can people run on 2.1 still?
Without USB you can't do anything
what about Mobile ODIN?
Of course you can flash without usb connection just about the equivalent of driving 200 km/h without any safety belt or helmet.
If your i9000 is rooted and on GB use Mobile Odin and Perkas file stash, You have the pit files, stock roms, modems and kernels in Perkas file stash. Only do this if you know what your doing!!!!! But to answer your question you can flash without a USB cable. I've done it several times

1st, usb on phone is broken, middle piece is gone.

If your phone is rooted, than you can try this by using Mobile Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28302093&postcount=4789

[Q] Need help unrooting without odin

Short story I plugged in my phone into my car charger and smoke came out of my micro USB slot. The slot is now bad. I tried to plug into my computer through my USB hub and could not get it connected I then got a message that the hub detected a power surge, so I unplugged the cable. I want to take it in to Sprint because I have the insurance.
I'm running right now
Triforce rom
MJA
PhilZ touch 5 recovery
Kernel Version 3.4.0
Is there a stock rom Zip that I can just flash? I have looked and I can't seem to find one.
Should I get Triangle away and mobile odin? I have used odin to always flash my roms so I have no real experience with mobile odin. I have watched some videos and it doesn't seem to be too difficult.

Samsung galaxy note 3 - n900 PIT issue.

Greetings,
Yesterday I was about to change my current rom as my phone was running on a custom rom that I found here on the forum with a CWM recovery.
So I went into recovery mode to make a nandroid backup for my device just incase of something bad happens.
When I started the backing up process it took a min or 2 to start and transferring the data and afterwards the device turned off and it went to a black screen with the android logo and it says downloading don't turn off target..
the thing is it still on that screen since yesterday and I can do anything about it because it took longer than the usual as the youtube videos showed me.
I tried turning off the device and turning it back on and still no luck.
I went to download mode to bascially flash a TWRP recovery or a root using odin to later on flash the rom that I wanted but I had no luck as every single time I try to flash something in odin it says "There is no PIT partition"
I looked up online and I found few PIT files and I tried again and its the same thing but it says re partition operation failed something like that.
after doing some research I found even If I flashed the stock firmware it won't change anything as the device won't accept it because of the PIT thing.
I really need your help guys, what can I do now ?
Try using different USB cables and USB 2.0 ports to flash a stock ROM with Odin.

I did and I still have the same issue..
I even tried a different computer and nothing really works, keep in mind that I have downloaded the official stock rom and tried to flash that too and I still have no luck.
I really need help guys :/
Find the correct PIT file and flash that or take for service repair .
Alright I'm writing this reply to whoever searches online for a similar problem.
I fixed my phone long time ago and the problem was ... "the phone USB port"
it turns out my port isn't really good as it had issues in the past and it was changed but I didn't know that until recently and I completely forgot about it.
I didn't fix my port though but how did I fix the phone ?
well it turns out even if your port was bad (depends on the ports condition of course) getting an original cable can help you flash something isn't big such as a root or a recovery mode.
in my case I used an original cable a normal micro USB but after using an original USB 3.0 cable I was able to flash a root and a custom recovery, yes I tried flashing a stock firmware but it I didn't work because of how my port is acting I was kinda limited to the things I can flash so I was able to flash small files but not an entire operating system.
So I flashed a root and a TWRP custom recovery in order to be able to flash an entire OS through the phone itself without the need of plugging it to my computer so I uploaded my custom ROM on an SD Card and flashed it through the recovery mode and I was back in business!
I can safely say the case is solved, I don't know if you guys close the solved topics here or something but thanks for everyone's help.
SEE YA LATER
But port is not PIT problem .
