that's great news!!
afaik, there's no app2sd possibility on android 2.1, so...let's hope

This is GREAT news..if it is true though..because sometimes the one answering those questions is the marketing guys who knows nothing about sofware updates..

What date the guestion its?.. maybe they mean the past update.., remember we had 2 time update from se...,update to eclair and update to fix tnt function., maybe its mean that update not froyo.

I don't think that they will update X8 to froyo/gb because if they release update, then they won't have money stupid SE

Hi Sony Ericsson
I recently bought an Xperia X8 and it's a nice phone
got me a lot worse in the phone memory is too small for the applications
Android 2.2 or 2.3 can use your app 2 sd so my question is is there a new update or is there a way around this problem?
thanks in advance

Awesome news..

update
Great!!! Till then, try one of the Mods, see what an update should do, ) Try XGin from Shpit and see what I mean. Grat job withe the developers. Thank all, now we can see that with limited hardware, this can be done. And we know what we SHOULD expect from SE.

This is,great but still no official new from se uk or asia. Who cares as long as they want to release the updates.yay, cant wait!

wow, i hope that it is dualtouch they have made it possible for x10, so why can't they try it for x8 and minis ??? i don' care about official froyo/gb update, because x8 devs and their roms are better than SE devs and their crappy roms xda rocks !!!!
edit: there is new firmware on ptcrb :http://www.ptcrb.com/ctiastaff/complete/view_complete_request.cfm?modelid=17877

Maybe this is only a system update. I doubt SE will update the Android version on the X8.

Lol ... i dont need that fu***** update! We have fully working android 2.2 and 2.3 will be soon i wonder ;D so its no need to do this update.
no co ja tylko tak mysle xd
I just want dual touch and flash ;D

But it will be eclair 2.1 ! They said that x8 cant hold 2.2 ... ( but we even have 2.3 working fine ) it just will be some fix for 2.1 and then you update and then again you will need to restore your beautiful custom rom!

well maybe SE will just take racht's floyo v0.20'modify it a bit and introduce it as x8 2.2 update...haha2 bcoz racht done a very good job with his 2.2 rom...

xperia x8 multitouch

Anyone knows if x8 can support multitouch. Is it hardware limitation or just software stupidity of SE?
While I was reading x10 news about multitouch, the article basically said the phone developers themselves had to "hack" the phone and enable it via software.
Basically if I understood it correctly from the article, the hardware is flagged as "non supportive", while it can be enabled via software.
That above ^ makes no sense, so I'd just say it's a software issue.

So we just 'might' get multitouch too.

Right, basically means the software for multitouch is already done.
Now let's see how long it'll take them to dispatch the update

Does the X8 digitizer support multi touch?

Excuse me for being upfront, but you'll have to change your slogan in that mini "campaign"
The whole intention of them not updating software is most likely to just force you to buy new versions of mobile phones you already have ( x10 -> arc, x8 -> some new phone that'll come in 2011 ).
So it's all the same for them if you stick to your x8 for example, as the only thing they're attempting to do here is to force you to buy a new mobile phone - if you don't succumb to it, they don't give a flying **** cause you'll be stuck on a outdated, non-updating platform, and it's in your best interest to get off it if you're at least a bit of a tech savvy individual.
Also, people who stick with Sony Ericsson brand since their first phone ( such as myself, from old Ericsson t20e 'till newest x8 ), is their main market. No matter how bad service is, I won't change my mobile phone brand, as it's something I've gotten used to ever since I was 8 ( 13 years later, still using the same brand ), and same goes for many many users out there who don't need tech stuff like most of us here on xda want.
At least that's my point of view on it.
Sad really, but heh :\ Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread, and I signed up on facebook for the 2.2 support.
if is for X10, so it's will be for X8 also

@refract : I dont know.I think I will never buy a SE again if they dont publish new updates like 2.2+ for SE X8 because for exp : If I buy a new SE mobile next year, maybe will there again no updates for it -.-
Next phones will have better updates schedule.

Thanks For Cyanogen CM7.0 RC4 2.3.3

Hi all first post on this forum. Its a shame i cant post in "XPERIA X10 Android Development" as i don't have a post count of 10 "But i understand why that is" i would have liked to post thanks and report bugs in his thread for this rom.
Anyways just wanted to say thanks to jerpelea for all his work on Gingerbread 2.3.3 this rom is outstanding bar a coupe of random reboots.
This rom will be even better when he works out the Camera Photo/Video Issues anyway i got a couple of screen shots of it working on my X10i with a little but of theme tweaking.
Thanks again for all your hard work MacDaddyIRC Out.
Even i'm on post 2 so cant post in development.
Thanks a million for the CM!!
I 2nd that foreveralone. Alot better than the stock SE 2.1 i can't w8 for a Android 3.0 port for x10
Sent from my X10i CM7.0
I want to say Tks too
i would like to say thanks but there is an update from SE that they are bringing out the 2.3.3 gingerbread on the x10 either at the end of Q2 or start of Q3 of the year.
The point is, with the SE update we will able to use the CM mod completely using the SE kernal. Also, compared with the stock rom, the CM rom is more optimized for performance.
Or if the devs here can write a 2.3.3 kernal before SE does...that would be amazing =D

Just in case. Its a free 6 month trial so it was free and my email got hacked and im not sure how so better to be safe than sorry.
Kaspersky is much better and its protection is better than other Mobile Av
At the end of the day I use these and test these roms and all have crashed or failed in one way or another and I'm not saying they should not be used but a stock rom is more reliable and safer to use. If there is a better rom then theres then I will use it. But I'm not risking bricking my phone for a rom that is not reliable from all bugs.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Also I am using a cyanogenmod at the moment on 2.2.1 froyo and they said the video cam works but everytime I go to use it, it FC and then can't find the cam but I still use it because it is better the the stock rom 2.1 eclair

the firmware that was released (the .75) actually just was posted today
How do they help us (just interested/dont burn me!)
I mean, is this the "kernel" source needed for custom kernels. Will it help to fix the music lag etc/..
4.0.A.2.368.tar.bz2
4.0.A.2.364.tar.bz2
4.0.A.2.335.tar.bz2
*that 3 maybe for ARC, NEO, PLAY
not sure about neo, but I have PLAY with 4.0 build (flash to older generic UK, ..don't ask why, but they even maybe the promised 2.3.4
but other 3.0.1 maybe for X10, the answer to that question if you ask is,
that the RAY and new MINI got new launcher, like on the ARC new Gneric FW that posted some days a go. and also, nobody say we will not have updates for the system. after 2.1 (435), there was at least 2 more updates for Germany and Thailand, so there is some chance we will get some update soon, maybe for X10A soon to, and maybe some fixes, but if you look on the name, past 2.1 for X10,E10,U20,E15,E16 have model names, the new one don't, so it's hard to know, maybe the mini's & x8 get 2.3? we will se some news soon, i'm sure.
PS, still stuck on X10's 2.1 (435) hope there will be Global\World Generic for the 2.3.3 (75)
As history has shown us...the X10 usually receives its Open Source files 10-15 days after the update hits the market. However that said, most of the time the PTCRB was registered before the update had been released...since our firmware was just registered I'm not sure if they will release it next weekish or in 10-15 MORE days...or might do something random as to release it NOW...or in a long time...but they eventually will.

NEWS: Update (minor) is rolling out for ALL Xpera with 2.3.3 on board

Today on Official SE Latvia Facebook page was posted some information about new update
(http://www.facebook.com/sonyericssonlv/posts/256797321016149)
HTML:
"Xperia tālruņiem ar Android 2.3.3 pieejams jauns atjauninājums. Atjauninājumam jāizmanto USB vadu un Update service vai PC Companion aplikācijas. Kontakti un dati atjauninājuma laikā netiek bojāti.
Pilns atjauninājuma ieguvumu apskats sekos pirmdien!"
I have translated it for you:
Where already is avaliable update for Xperia phones with Android 2.3.3. To update your phone you need USB cable and Update service via PC Companion application. Contacts and phones\ data won't be damaged during these update
SE also commented below (this is about ARC, but shows nice results anywhere):
HTML:
"Diemžēl nē-procesors paliek tāds pats, bet Bencmark testā gan no 2100 p pacēlās reitings uz 2888 p!"
"Unfortunately no, the processor will remain the same (not 1400 mhz), but the benchmark shows that the rating from 2100 p increased to 2888 p."
One new comment from SE Latvia about Xperia X10:
HTML:
"Tātad tomēr X10 pagaidām ir pāreja no 2.1. uz 2.3. un pagaidām nav jaunāku atjauninājumu. (Nebiju pārliecināts vai X10 arī būs pieejams šis atjauninājums - to jautāju Twiterī)
Esmu šobrīd pārbaudījis uz Arc, Neo, Mini, MiniPro"
"So far, however, X10 is a changing from 2.1. to 2.3. and yet there is no newer update. (I was not sure if the X10 is available for this update right now - it asked in Twitter)
I've now checked the Arc, Neo, Mini, MiniPro"
Anyway, it is a good news. We will have some improvements in some time!
Also that's mean, that SE is still supporting and updating our phones
Good luck to all!
No offense, but did you read any other threads in this forum? Specially this one?

Yes! we don't need official rom,, custom roms are more better
Who needs a official ROM now?
I think custom rom especially gingerdx rom is much more better than the official one. It faster and smooth like hell..^^
X8 with gingerdx v11, [email protected], supercharger v6, fast reboot, quadrant score more than 1100++..^^
Thank Doixanh!!!
if sony release 2.3 it will be helpful for our dev. they can take lib from it..
