Hi there,
I have configured an Outlook Exchange account on my HD2 (WM65). Each time ActiveSync try to synchronize, it ask me for the account password. If i set the password, it fails and ask me again for the password. If i do not set any passwork (leaving the field empty) and click on Finished, the synchronisation starts and it works !
Any idea ?
Tx,
Patrice

Hi guys!
Yesterday I try using gmail account on my pocket outlook (i-mate Jamin with WM5!)... it works fine but I have some questions:
Usually I read my mails (gmail) with the gmail site from my office pc (can't use outlook in office... sogh!). I'd like to configure gmail and my Jamin in order to can read my mail when I'm out of office... near an hotspot for example or connecting via EDGE or connecting on LAN...
Is it possible to configure gmail to chenge the status of the mail I read via pop3? I'd like to see "as read" the mails I download via pop3 on my Jamin.
Is it possible to retrieve via pop, on my Jamin, only the unread mails? If I don'd connect my Jamin to internet for a month, for example, I don'e want to receive all the mails that I just read from my office via the gmail site.
I create new account for gmail on my Jmain message because I can't modify std outlook mail account as gmail... is it the right way? Why I can'd delete or modify the outlook account? Now I have: SMS, MMS, GMAIL and Outlook but I can't understand the outlooc account reason...
Gmail
Hi Mark
As I understand it Outlook on the Jamin is just for sync ith a PC.
The 'gmail' account is for that email acc only.
Double check the following is correct and should solves your various problems:
Go to messages, menu, tools, options. Click on 'gmail'.
Email: [email protected]
Your name: First Last
Username: [email protected]
Password: password
Account Information:
Account Type: Pop3
Name: GMail
Incoming Mail: pop.googlemail.com
Outgoing mail: smtp.googlemail.com
Domain: (leave blank)
Options
These are fairly standard, but check your connection is 'The Internet' and hit next and that SSL is ticked.
Re-reading your post it seems like you have done this already!! (Duh)
OK - easy part - goto your gmail account on a desktop PC (or if you are being smart on your pocket PC!) mail.google.com.
Goto Settings and then Forwarding and pop3 settings there should be an option called POP download - mark the radio button that says "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on".
Should do it!
I do it! Thanks!
Hello all,
How do I disable the password lock from my 8125? I initially set it up when I was synching with my laptop for Exchange email, but now I am using xpress mail and don't want the password lock.
I hope you know the password, if yes then follow:
Start -> Settings -> Password -> (it would ask you the password if it is already set) tab the password -> untick the "prompt if device unused".
Let me know, GoodLuck
Sidd
Sidd,
Thank you. The "Prompt if deviced unused" is greyed out. I'm unable to untick this setting.
But is it Greyed-out with the tickmark ON or OFF??
WIth the tickmark "ON". The long short of this story is that I initially synched up my Exchange email using ActiveSynch. Our corporate policy required this password to be setup. We do not have Exchange SP2, so I couldn't get push email, however I ended up using xpress mail instead to get the push functionality. Now I want to get rid of having to input a password on my device.
Also note that "Password" has been renamed to "Lock" in AKU2 as is also pointed out in the article on all name changes at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1276&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Its seems like either you have to connect/sync with the same email software on which the password had been setup and find the way to remove the password whilst sync,,, OR ,,, the 2nd option is to just Hard Reset the device,,, BUT ,,, Please dont forget to take your backup before Reseting the device. (I can also help you if you want to backup your TXT messages if u want to!)
I am personally using Alpine(XDA-IIi) and I am Hard-Reseting my device every 4-5 months.
Let me know.

the app dont start for me. just gives an error
synchronizing Google calendar
in order to synchronize your Google calendar so that it would appear on your HTC HD mini calendar just follow these steps
1- Go to your tools then tab Active sync
2-tab menu then configure the server and in the server address write m.google.com then tab next and write your Gmail adress in the user name field and ur password concerning the domain u write Google . tab next then it will appear 4 things to synchronize contacts emails calendar and tasks . select them all or what ever u want and tab finish. now you are done with the setups.
3- go to schedule and and in peak time select (as items arrive) check the two boxes ( use above settings when roaming) and (send receive when i clik send)
4- tab sync and u will have your Google calendar in ur htc hd calendar now ur able to add events from your Gmail and they will be added into ur phone automatically and vice versa .
Good luck
Thanks.

Hi.
I have a adress with the ending @googlemail.com. Active Sync didn't work for me when I only used my username. Therefore I would suggest you try [email protected] as username. Usually there is no need to give a domain. For further instructions have look at the google homepage for 'googlesync'. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post any links.
Thaks, it helped...
This may be old news but - if you're hesitant about activating your HD2 but still want to sync with windows live - you can use the hotmail-activesync server settings (m.hotmail.com) to access and sync your email(+push), contact and calendar.
Mate thats spot on. Just done that on my phone and it worked straightaway!
Many thanks for the suggestions, greatly appreciated
No problem. If you can live without the market place then this gives you the rest of the live services.
I'll activate once i know what MS decide to do, if anything.....
hmmm so how do i do this? will this sync word docos etc

Google (And XDA search) is your mightiest friend

KrewsialNL: Thanks for adding the link.
rainsey: No not word docs just your calendars, contacts and email (incl push). For documents you could just email them to your hotmail account on your pc? not quite syncing but it will get the file on your handset without too much fuss.
I have a sharepoint 2010 account except the server uses basic authentication and i can't use the url to list the docs i use. I can assess them via webpage list for my docs but this is annoying it would of been nice to have the list maintained on WP7 or have sync like wm6.x.
Hotmail and skydrive is not the sync that i want to use or trust
I went to "Advanced Setup" under "Add an Account" and tried the following settings:
email: [email protected]
server address: m.hotmail.com
SSL enabled
username: [email protected]
password: password
Domain: <blank>
It won't let me click sign in with a blank domain so I assume that you just put a couple of random letters in there.
Then it keeps saying that the account information is incorrect, I've checked it 3 timees to make sure. Any ideas?
Nearly.... when you first set the account up put a couple of random characters in the domain field so you can complete the set up (the button to finish is not available until something is entered for the domain).
Once you've completed the set-up try syncing. It will fail and say theres an error with the account settings. but.... you're then offered a chance to change your username and password or modify the the advance settings.
Now if you go into the advanced settings you can delete the entry for the domain so it is completely blank - except this this time the option to complete the settings can be selected.
That should work

Thanks for that, I knew I must've missed something out!
I have a google apps account for my work email
i click on MS exchange while setting up email in manual mode
Domain: Google/[email protected]
User: XXXXX
Password:XXXXXXX
Server:M.google.com
SSL: ticked
Then it asks to activate the security certificate clicks activate
Creates the account but it gives error unable to sync messages all the time
Don't want to use the gmail app
Using the exact same settings i can configure my HTC one x on exchange and it works there
Is this a Bug on the GS3??
