Hi guys!
Yesterday I try using gmail account on my pocket outlook (i-mate Jamin with WM5!)... it works fine but I have some questions:
Usually I read my mails (gmail) with the gmail site from my office pc (can't use outlook in office... sogh!). I'd like to configure gmail and my Jamin in order to can read my mail when I'm out of office... near an hotspot for example or connecting via EDGE or connecting on LAN...
Is it possible to configure gmail to chenge the status of the mail I read via pop3? I'd like to see "as read" the mails I download via pop3 on my Jamin.
Is it possible to retrieve via pop, on my Jamin, only the unread mails? If I don'd connect my Jamin to internet for a month, for example, I don'e want to receive all the mails that I just read from my office via the gmail site.
I create new account for gmail on my Jmain message because I can't modify std outlook mail account as gmail... is it the right way? Why I can'd delete or modify the outlook account? Now I have: SMS, MMS, GMAIL and Outlook but I can't understand the outlooc account reason...
Gmail
Hi Mark
As I understand it Outlook on the Jamin is just for sync ith a PC.
The 'gmail' account is for that email acc only.
Double check the following is correct and should solves your various problems:
Go to messages, menu, tools, options. Click on 'gmail'.
Email: [email protected]
Your name: First Last
Username: [email protected]
Password: password
Account Information:
Account Type: Pop3
Name: GMail
Incoming Mail: pop.googlemail.com
Outgoing mail: smtp.googlemail.com
Domain: (leave blank)
Options
These are fairly standard, but check your connection is 'The Internet' and hit next and that SSL is ticked.
Re-reading your post it seems like you have done this already!! (Duh)
OK - easy part - goto your gmail account on a desktop PC (or if you are being smart on your pocket PC!) mail.google.com.
Goto Settings and then Forwarding and pop3 settings there should be an option called POP download - mark the radio button that says "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on".
Should do it!
I do it! Thanks!

I have POP3 setup on my Laptop using Outlook express to access my private email and this works fine. On my QTEK I have configured an IMAP access to my corporate email and this also works just great.
But for weeks I have been trying to access my private email from the QTEK and absolutely nothing. It just says Connecting... and never gets any further.
So my question is what do I put in the Domain field in WM5s Outlook client? I do not have to give it for Outlook Express on my laptop. For my work account (IMAP) I just repeated the incoming mail parameter.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem setting up POP access to an email provider.
Thanks for any advice cheers cjb.
Bluewin POP 3
Quite simple:
Under Messaging create a new account.
Parameters:
- email adress : your adress ([email protected])
- Your name: free to choose, any name
- user name: your email adress ([email protected])
- password: your password
- Account type: POP3
- account name: free to choose, any name
- Incoming mail: pop.bluewin.ch
- Outgoing mail: mail.bluewin.ch
. Domain: leave empty
- finish
Important: after the first screen, messaging tries to look on the net for settings. That does not work. Just click next there.
Cheers
hrb
Many thanks hrb - leaving it blank did the trick. I had tried that but had not been patient enough. Over GPRS the Connecting... phase takes ages, then it finally logs in. Again thanks - cjb
I already search the forum but I can't find a answer. When I setup my hotmail account it redirects me to the mobile site of hotmail using opera.
Before I flashed my HD I received my mail in touchflo the way I want it.
I already asked the rom cook but he is taking a break.
So anyone know how to fix this? I want my mail in touchflo and not using the browser.
Just open Messenger.
Fill in your username and password.
When asked, select the "sync e-mail".
This wil create all the needed settings, so your e-mail account is configured within touchflo
grtz,

You are the best, worked like a charm
thank you.

Click to collapse
I would like to have that too but I already assigned myself to msn and so I dont get that option anymore.
And I cant find it in the options menu of msn messenger
any one got an idea?
I also have a problem with hotmail. after entering my details in the touch flo tab,a new msn window appears briefly then just goes back to a No Account tab. Any ideas pls?
Hotmail and others
If I've understood you correctly do this...
When you enter your email address enter a fake one for eg. [email protected] to avoid the auto-setup. On next screen untick the "try to get email settings automatically from the internet". On next screen choose "internet email" and carry on adding the POP3 settings for your email provider. That worked for Hotmail and Yahoo and should work for anything as long as the provider is pop3 enabled.
But normal hotmail doesnt support pop3 right?
U have to buy a hotmail ID for it ?
no the hotmail recently announced they now support pop. settings are as follows:
Incoming: pop3.live.com
outgoing: smtp.live.com
Username: [email protected] (make sure you include @Hotmail.com)
outgoing server requires SSL security, so make sure you check that
good luck

hotmail account profile missing
Hi,
i have created a hotmail e-mail account profile but i couldn't see on windows mobile 6.5 outlook software.
i can see it in registry but not gui.
How can i use hotmail or msn mail account?
please help
thanks
I just did the official 6.5 upgrade on my phone. I can set up my gmail and other email accounts fine, but when i try to add my @msn.com account, it skips the POP3 and SMTP setup and just opens Opera and brings me to mobile.live.com.
I had it working on the old 6.1 fine. anybody else has this problem?
I always get this with all phone and ROM I used. I use the following workaround :
1. Configure your account with [email protected] (same for hotmail)
2. Perform normal setup (pop is pop3.live.com and smtp is smtp.live.com)
3. After configuration edit your account and change [email protected] by [email protected]
4. Don't forget in the smtp page to go in advance server setup and enable SSL for incoming and outgoing email and select the correct network connection.
thanks, but it was a hassle just to set up microsoft's own email on its own software
you may just setup your msn messager and select the sync email option
hi there i just got my HD2 with t-mobile and want to hook up my hotmail.co.uk account. can someone guide me through this
cheers
also, what updates on the HTC website are worth loading onto the phone
Hotmail
Slide to the e-mail icon on the homescreen/menu/add account/other - add your hotmail details. This worked for me.
The Incoming mail server is pop3.live.com
The Outgoing mail server is smtp.live.com
Use your email address and password for access and set up your email as any other.
Mail > Add Account > Other
Then fill in the details carefully. You are then all done.
For hotmail I just put my email and email password and it found all the details for me. It might slow down when it syncs your emails.
i have followed this and it seems to work, but for some reason it constantly pops up and asks for my email and password
Don't settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3.
The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3.
This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none
Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password
The End...works a treat for me
p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.
RichPie and Tej2020 are both right. Thanks for those posts on the differing forums.
I also found though that some of the older talk21 accounts no matter if you follow those instructions still don't validate the username.
Solution:
Login to your BT Yahoo email account with your [email protected] username and password.
Go to settings and forward your mail (temporarily) to another email account.
You will get a verification email in that account for security.
You'll probably see that the username is not [email protected] but [email protected]
Now here's the trick.
Go back to your BT Yahoo email.
Don't forget to disable the forwarding of email (otherwise you'll never get any new emails in this account).
Logout.
Now try logging in as [email protected] and your usual password.
Same account right?
Follow RichPie's instructions (below) for allowing the email to be POP'ed.
1./ Log into you talk21.com account:
options
Mail options
POP3 & Forwarding
click on "allow forwarding"
Save.
Now in your phone setup your email with
Setting up the mail use these:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 110
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 25
and crucially, the username and password must be [email protected] with your password as this seems to be a migrated username/password combination on the migration of the talk21 accounts into Yahoo and is a popp'able account.
This should work.
