My NC stays on the "Touch the Future of reading" screen after I formatted the SD card for Apps2SD thru CMW.
What do i need to do to get the OS working again. It isn't like I can do a battery pull on this thing, so I am at a loss.

Get it powered down and remove the SD card, hopefully it will boot, then you can try mounting the SC.

Hey guys. I'm currently running this ROM, I've been using it for a few days and have had no problems but today, when I turned the phone off and turned it back on, it took ages to turn back on. Then when it did it all looked them same but was kept freezing etc., then up in the notification bar it said "SD Card Removed Unexpectedly" then my phone went crazy with FC's.
So I took out the battery and restarted the phone. Then, it would turn on and go to the lock screen but then it would reboot and be at a continuius* boot loop of the HTC 'Quietly Brilliant' screen.
So then I took out the battery again, this time I took out the SD card too and booted up and my phone was normal again. Obviously with no phone storage though as there was SD card in. Then after I just skipped the setup I put my SD card back in to my phone and went to the music player and all my saved songs on my SD card played. But no internal storage (I have the SD card partitioned with a 1GB Ext3 partition). Then with the SD card in knowing it still works I rebooted again, only to come back to the HTC screen again.
So basically, how can I fix this?
If I'm going to need to format my SD card is there a way I can backup what's in the Ext3 partition?
Thanks,
L.
Bump. Need to be able to use my phone properly again urgently. Thanks.

It sounds like something is really funky (faulty hardware?) with either your SD card or your phone. You could try reformatting it with that Panasonic tool...
You can backup your SD-EXT partition with CWM/CWR. You can boot CWM from MAGLDR without flashing anything. Just put zImage and initrd.gz from the CWM download on the root of your SD card and boot "AD SD" from MAGLDR.

Thanks for the reply. It's not the phone as I have a 2GB SD card in it right now but that's not big enough.
Yeah I have a problem with CWM, when I click AD SD it says some Kernel error thing.
Is there any other way to find the files in my Ext partition using my computer?

Unfortunately not that I am aware of. Where are the CWM files located on your SD card? Are they on the root or in a subfolder? Did you modify the path MAGLDR looks for the "AD SD" path? Are you using the latest CWM release?
Yep they're on the root of it. I think it's 1.12 I have ATM. How do I modify the path? :S
Nevermind. I tried re-installing and it worked on my 2GB SD. But the thing is, the files I want are on my 16GB that won't read lol. I'll try flash it on that now.
Tried to flash my 16GB. Says SD Kernel Open Failed in red letters? Works with my other SD card though? :S
Now I just tried with my 2GB and it's saying the same thing again.
Hi, I recently flashed my 1st ROM, an Android rom to my HD2. I followed a guide in a recent edition of Micro Mart magazine. Everything went great & the rom is up & running, the only problem i'm having is with the SD card. I just get a notification saying 'SD card damaged'.
I've looked around on the forums & i've read numerous threads on SD card problems but I don't know which is relevant to my problem. The SD card works fine in other devices, just not on the Android rom. Im using the Cyanogen 'gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v1.7' NAND rom. Do i have to create an ext3 partition to get my SD card recognised?
Sorry for another SD card thread but this is my 1st time flash & Android rom so I really dont know about these ext partitions and how they are supposed to work!
Thanks for any advice in advance,
Tom
You might want to reformat your SD card. Get your SD card out and format it to fat32(important) using a card reader. Also make sure to backup your SD.
Try that.
Sorry I forgot to mention I tried it from a fresh format in windows, although I've read about the Panasonic formater so I could give that a go when I get home.
Yes you might want to reformat your SD card I suggest you use this software to format it. Also make sure you do a full wipe and format it using Fat 32.
One more thing is have you checked to see if your Android is mounting your SD card? When you boot your HD2 up and you see the Android lock screen appesr do you see it say preparing your SD card at the top of the screen?

Yes I remember seeing it saying preparing but then it just switches to the damaged notification. If I then select that, it brings up a box saying it may need to be formatted but selecting that doesn't seem to do anything, the damaged notification just stays there.
I've got it working. I followed the guide in this thread & it worked 1st time. Just follow it carefully and slowly

That happened to me awhile back; I had to reformat the emmc partition to get it back. Here's what I finally did: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14572867&postcount=2. NOTE: you will probably get a different device than /dev/sde! Check before overwriting! This loses the former contents of /emmc.
I was getting a "Damaged SD Card" notification when I booted, and the filesystem on /emmc (aka /media) was corrupted and wasn't mounting at boot time.
thanks but it was on the 1.0.1 software version, not cm7 where I couldn't se the storage. I remember now that when I tried to format data it woldn't work. do you think I should try doing "the dummies guide to fixing my nook wont boot" again
can someone please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flashed my a500 several times. Decided to go back to taboonay. In recovery I decided to clean everything. I formatted everything that had an option to format including SD. I thought that was the internal however I was wrong and lost all my backups and roms. No problem I thought, went to my desktop put the new rom on sd card the reinstalled in my device.
OK the problem: It will not flash the rom because recovery can nolonger mount my sd card. I've tried other sd cards formated fat.
Any ideas?

and did those other cards work?
sorry
No, other sd cards did not work. So what I have is a tab that when turned on goes strait to acer logo and loads nothing. I can however open to recovery however it will not mount the sd card. Also, it is not recognized when plugged in to my dell.
Solved
Ok, after reading this thead
I found that yes formating the sd card in either windows or linux will not work. Using my android phone to format the card works. It is now mountable. However I still could not flash directly to taboonay as I wished, but following this thread
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 -
got me up and going again.
Put the rom on a thumbdrive. Plug the thumb drive in. Turn it on to boot to recovery. It should let you install from zip without having to mount. Works for me.
Hello,
I have American Android on my phone. After a few weeks of stability, the screen turned black and I was unable to get the phone to respond to any buttons anymore. I took the battery out of the phone and restarted it. It's stuck in the boot screen with the cyan Android animation. It never gets past this animation.
What can I do to fix this?
Also, I tried to open USB Massstg in the magldr menu to try to backup what I had on the phone, but for some reason, my computer isn't able to read anything from the phone in that mode.

Edit: I see you mean task29. Will that remove all of the data on the SD card?
It won't touch the data on the SD card. Also, in reference to the OP, the reason USB Mass storage won't read anything from the phone is because it's used to read the SD card, not the internal storage.

I am running all of my Android builds from my SD card. They are not ROMs that I flashed to the NAND.
Since all of my Android builds are being run from my SD card, how come USB mass storage does not work? You said that it is used to read the SD card, and all of my Android builds are stored on the SD card and not internal storage, so how come my PC cannot read the SD card under Magldr's USB mass storage mode?
Will using Task 29 fix my problem. I don't have a buggy ROM since I am booting my Android builds off my SD card. Also,
I just tried to put the following SD card Android builds on my SD card, and they keep restarting at the HTC screen (also going in an infinite loop):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504369
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437463
I guess that the American Android build isn't the problem since other SD card Android builds are doing the same thing. I am really puzzled about what is happening. No Android SD card build is working, and I cannot figure out why. They were all working before yesterday.
I realize that there is FAQ that tries to address this issue, but the context here is different. I have no Android ROM flashed. I am completely booting from an SD Android build. The FAQ says to address the partition size, but I never had to deal with partitions because I am not using an Android ROM.
If you have a backup on your SD like (titanium backup) remove your SD card from phone and use SD card reader hook up to PC copy said backup folder to desktop and reformat SD then copy folder back to root of SD and reinstall ROM files to root and clean install.

Do you know how I would get my battery fully charged? For some reason, the battery isn't getting charged when it is plugged in. I only get an infinite reboot loop.
