So Orange are supposed to be pushing the 7392 update tomorrow. I have the 4.10.1.9 bad bootloader so am not expecting the update to install however i read here that a few people on 4.10.1.9 were able to do so.
My question is if i try and install and it gets stuck in the reboot loop, what is the correct procedure to abort the update?
Disconnect the cable then pull the battery and reboot? Just pull the battery?
And will i need to recover it at all via zune or will the update just fail and when i reboot the phone it will be ok?
Thanks!

The update will just fail once it realised it's booted up again into the OS. Just disconnect and pull the battery. Once you put it back in, it should boot up fine. Connect the cable once again and Zune should say it's failed applying the update.
I'm on Three and still can't get past this issue, even with the Samsung fix.
That's annoying to hear
I suppose you have tried the usual steps of freeing up lots of space on your device and using different USB ports... ?
Then the annoying step of a hard reset?
I pre-emptively applied the Samsung patch as i did not want to be stuck in a boot loop! I don't suppose anyone knows what it actually does? I'm guessing since it only takes like 10 seconds to patch it is just overwriting a possibly faulty file in the phone somewhere that should prevent the update from finishing.
I'm still on 7008! did ya'll get the update?? Or did you all update to nodo post april 11?

Apparently us poor sods on Orange aren't getting 7392 anytime soon.
http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/archive/2011/05/25/more-7392-update-deliveries-underway.aspx
"7392 is now rolling out to Windows Phones on Sprint in the U.S. and Orange in Europe. If you have an Omnia 7 on Orange, you won’t be receiving an update just yet. We are going to update those phones separately."
God knows what that means. Really pissed off about it.
Grrrrr ¬¬ it has been a mahusive **** up the whole NoDo update! they really need to get Mango perfect!
Yup. Really frustrating isn't it!

Turn off your phone.
Keep holding down the camera button and turn on your phone. If you see the USB to PC mode, your phone will be able to update.
Zune only requires that your phone be able to enter USB to PC download mode(Camera+PowerOn) and not the other Download mode (VolumeUp+Camera+PowerOn).

That's interesting... Just tried it and my phone does enter the connect to PC mode.
I do have the bad bootloader 4.10.1.9 however i Jigged mine using 301k resistors and installed the Samsung patch so I don't know if this has anything to do with it. No one seems to know what the patch actually does :s
This is good news though! Thanks for the heads up.

The Samsung patch is supposed to fix phones that cannot enter USB > PC download mode. But it doesn't work for some, that is why during Zune patching process, the phone will enter rebooting loop at step 6 because it is trying to enter USB > PC download mode.
If yours is working fine now, you don't have to worry.

Ahh right, thanks again. So I guess the lack of being able to enter download mode without the resistor jig is another side effect of this bad bootloader. And without this ability the Samsung patch cannot be applied and the update cannot subsequently complete and update the bad software.
The update from 7008 isnt even available yet though?

For Orange customers though, No it isn't available yet.

I have to say I would rather them just get the issues with the Omnia sorted and out the way now. I don't really care about receiving 7392 as it adds little / nothing.
If Mango is delayed or Omnia owners i will be infuriated though.
Yes definatley!! The mango update HAS to be smooth because Nodo has been a disaster...

No. If your phone can enter USB > PC download mode, Microsoft can choose to fix your bad bootloader through Zune.
Tmobile Omnia 7 users have had their phone firmware upgraded in through Zune.
As long as your phone can enter USB > PC download mode, do not do anything to the phone.

Just thought i would share my findings. I have been trying to get my T-Mobile UK Omnia 7 into download mode for ages!
The Vol UP, Camera Button, Power button trick did not work.
However i discovered that if you
- Hold the Vol UP button and the Camera Button
- THEN connect the device to your PC via USB
it will power it up and enter the device into Download Mode.
Well i hope that helps some others like it helped me
Regards,
Alan
I still can not update my phone to version 7.0.7392.0
I tried and cant go into download mode
I have to hold vol-up+camera for how long?
Basically what i did was hold the phone in one hand pressing the vol up and camera button. Then simply plugged in my Omnia 7 via USB. It went into download mode all by its self.
I had been trying for months, even just ordered a jig thing off ebay lol
Anyway, i managed to flash the phone down to 7004, then upgrade to 7392. Also make sure you have installed the new drivers off the samsung site (v1.3).
Long story short, i am now happily running Mango, and WOW it's a massive improvement! What ever you do dont Waslh your phone, it causes more issues than good as i found out lol.
That's great news influenceuk. I am also a new T-Mobile Omnia 7 user (great deal @ £15pm), and I had to enter 'download Mode' the hard-way, a little bit of patience and a 300K Ohm resistor from Maplin did the trick. So the method you propose bypasses the USB-Jig antics, that would be awesome.
I'm tempted to flash the blocked bootloader back to confirm your findings.
Yeah chemeng, it worked perfectly for me last night after trying for months!!
I only had to do it cause i walshed my phone, and it was causing issues updating to the mango beta. i will see if i can find the page i found the instructions on
Just looked thought my history, but cant find the exact solution i mention. I did find the XDA Dev guide, which i think i may have mis read... then found my work around.
Some one else should try and see if it works too, hopefully it does.
Sorry but I cant get my phone into dowhload mode with your solution
It seems as if Alan's bootloader was semi-blocked
hey folks thıs worked for me

Well, I used to encounter this problem that cannot access to the download mode and getting error code (8XXXXXXXX) when trying to update the phone via Zune Software. But after trying update via zune few times, I successfully updated my OMNIA 7 to 7392 and got download mode works afterwards.
Same here. Tried to get into Download Mode for hours. I was about to build myself a jig.fortunatley i Tried updating my phone via zune... et voila...zune updated my bootloader and the Rom.
Now im able to get into Download Mode without any problems! I got a Samsung omnia 7 from t-mobile Germany.
Hope this helps...
Greetings
Bootloader version
Is there anyone who has successfully updated their Omnia 7 from NoDo to 7392 (latest security update) or Mango, with a bootloader version of 4.10.1.9, without using a USB jig?
Thanks,
Karthik
I have tried almost everything, but nothing works, I also have Omnia 7 with 7390 and bootloade 4.10.1.9, I think with this version of bootloader there isn't any other option than usb jig. I even called samsung helpline (they were much less informed than me, so they just told me to bring the phone to service center), does anyone have experience with service center, or is it better to make USB jig and do it at home?
I have three Omina 7 ,they are all 16G type.
First one ,by pressing vol up ,camera and power button can reach the download mode.
Unfortunately, the other two must use a jig to get the download mode.
what the hell is Samsung doing? I did not update last time with broken firmware and I tried this time with kies.
Now the problem came again.. It only appears Downloading... Do not turn off target and in Kies , it says fail to convert into safe mode...
Now Tablet stayed at the screen with "Downloading ... Do not turn off target!!!" No any response!
-------------------------------------
BTW, I never rooted.
Update. Thank you for everyone in this post for response.
After google from internet, I found a solution.
1) first, after you had "Downloading ... Do not turn off target!!!" screen, Please do not panic ( I did when it happened and really said f*^@ word to Samsung..forgive me...).
2) Press power button + volume down, and hold until it turns off.
3) say "god bless me" or "Mom, please save me." and press whatever combination of buttons you can.
4) It suddenly reboot after that and please use OTA to update. not kies.
5) as far as I can tell, works fine now. However, connect to Kies with wifi does not work.
Were you on a custom rom prior or rooted? If so, did you reset your tab to factory before doing the OTA?
Get back in recovery and flash your back up. If it fails you will have to ODIN your rom in
No problems here using kies, I was only rooted though and I still have root
Do I have to be connected to a PC to get this update? Isn't wifi enough?
You can use wi-fi for OTA update. OP's issue is that even though the tablet went into Download mode, Kies still didn't think it is in download mode. The firmware update hasn't even started to push down to tablet yet.
Based on the earlier problems, you're better off using Kies. If it fails, like it did for OP, it's smart enough to know that and when you disconnect and reconnect the Tab it should automatically go in to emergency recovery mode. What happened to OP happens occasionally with Kies updates. A lot has to do with the PC it's running on and what else is running on that PC. Kies is far from perfect and I'm guessing OP's issue isn't with the new ROM it's with Kies.
I didn't get the update OTA, but just updated with Kies. Had to re-flash CWM and root, but everything works just fine.
Changing to another USB port solved the problem for me. The drivers for the download stage to the tablet could not been loaded for the port I was connected first.

I repeat this: if you think Samsung's firmware and firmware updates are buggy, Kies is even worse.

Quite true. Kies is terrible. My Galaxy 10.1 wifi won't connect to it at all -- it just sits there attempting to connect. No indication of what's wrong, no log files, nothing. I wasted over an hour last night trying to figure out what was wrong -- removed all "ghost" USB devices, installed Intel INF driver updates, de-installed all active USB hubs & devices, etc.
I even updated Kies to 2.1 ... nothing. Very frustrating.
still no luck with upgrading with kies. it connects to tab, downloads the update to the pc,
the tab goes into download mode in order to install the update, and then connection between kies and tab is lost....
i have the latest kies, i have the drivers, i tried another usb port, i have done a factory reset, but still nothing.
Well i've had my i5700 for about two years and recently it's been acting rather strange, being extremely slow etc. But now it won't even boot up. I've been planning on upgrading anyway, i was just wondering if there's anything i could try to maybe save it? It's never been unlocked, still on 1.5 (thanks to complete lack of anything but Windows support by Samsung). Holding down volume down, call and call end just causes it to reboot before it reaches the end of the initial loading bar. I've tried most other combinations i could find, the only one that did anything other than a normal boot was call, ok and call end which put it in a 'self test' sort of thing, which wasn't much help.
Any ideas or should i just give up? Thanks
pm me about it so i can remember to help you tomorrow. i'll tell you how to upgrade to official 2.1. it's faster than 1.5. i can't help you now because i can't turn on my computer.

You can get android 2.1 update with Kies I believe, but if your phone is rooted try to upgrade it with FROYO for SPICA (CyanogenMod-6.1.1-Spica-alpha8.3) which you can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865342
It is not hard to do and I believe it works much better.
I can't use Kies if it won't boot up. And as far as i can see i can't root it without being unlocked and i can't unlock it without being rooted.
I hadn't upgraded it earlier because of the Kies driver requirement, which doesn't work on Linux. I do have access to a Windows laptop currently though...
I tried to use Kies from Download Mode, which i managed to get into a few days ago, but it doesn't do it now. Not sure if i'm doing the wrong combination or what.
If I remember correctly you don´t have to go in Download Mode when you use Kies. Just disable USB debugging. Do not enable it when you use Kies (turn it off). Then open Kies and let Kies search your phone. Then it will give you latest available version for Galaxy Spica i5700 which is android 2.1 and just let it update and reboot. I hope it will go well.
You mean disable USB debugging on the phone? Kind of hard to do when it won't boot up
I did get it to where Kies would recognize the phone, when it was stuck in a sort of loop after the boot animation. But it didn't give me the option to upgrade.
Ou yes, you mentioned the phone won´t boot up. In that case I really don´t know what to do. If I would be on your place and if I would want to keep that phone I would probably bring it to some service and explain the situation. They probably have some software to boot up the phone with I would think. If not, then I really don´t see any other option but to replace it with some other phone. That would be my choice, but of course it is up to you what do you want to do.
Okay, update: i have managed to get it into download mode. What now?
Okay, farukdgn helped me with this through PM. Seems to be sorted now. Should at least tide me through until my new phone arrives
I tried Odin myself but it seems most of the reason it didn't work for me was not being able to find the right files.
My phone wont boot back up because i interrupted the download by holding down the power button during install...it just keeps flashing google !!!
Help only had for 1 hour !!

how do i do that ?
please tell me you enabled adb debugging and oem unlock (in developer settings)
and why? why did you power down during the update?
I am not sure if I debugged anything ....all I did was unlock the system Ui or something like that by tapping on something 7 times to unlock some hidden features !
I was paying attention to the phone and had the buttons held down while holding
On the screen when I try to recover in the bottom left it says device is locked along with a bunch of stuff and then the last line says connect USB CABLE .

if you didn't alter anything within those "hidden features" you're almost certainly out of luck.
you need to have enabled "adb debugging" to likely get yourself out of this jam... plus you didnt unlock your device
try some of the things listed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/mess-locked-bootloader-os-t3316463
if they dont work, im sorry to day, you pooched your device. will need repairs.
There's probably nothing you can do. Your bootloader is locked so you can't use fastboot to flash anything. If the stock recovery supports adb sideload you could try that, otherwise you're fresh out of luck and need it to be repaired.
WOW ...i cant believe this .....what should i say when i return it ?
You could say it powered off during the update.

i got a problem with my nokia 6 im hoping someone here is able and willing to help me with.
The phone started doing a system update, but went dead and afterwards it just says that the phone has ever been rooted and that may lead to security risks and malware and instability or something like that. the phone wont even enter the revocery mode or anything, just keeps flashing the same text.
Looking forward to any help offered. since i dont know much about this kind of things id appreciate a thorough and simply put guide on how to fix it.
I reckon it's the same security patch that messed up my phone. What device do you have TA-10?? It's on the back of the device at the bottom. What version of android were you running?

Hold down power and volume up until the device powers off. Now, plug the phone into your PC while holding voldown and pwr. It should now say "Download mode" in the bottom right. You can now flash MENA firmware with ost 6.0.4
Let me know if the problem persists.

Can you go into recovery? Grab the dec 2017 update and Flash it from there. This is for downgrading some mechanics that changed with Android Oreo. OST should work again. For more detail, you can look around the many threads and answers on xda.

Boot to download mode by pressing volume down and power button continuously when phone is off.
Download OST 6.0.4 and flash nb0 firmware.
It'll only work if you're max on Dec update.. if later then that than first flash ota from recovery to downgrade bootloader.
