So I've been looking all over for a NC compatible Email.apk that includes the "Move to Folder" option ... not having it is driving my crazy. As it is, I can only delete my exchange emails and not archive them from my NC.
Anyone have a solution?
Commercial app: Exchange for Android 2.x (a.k.a. Touchdown). Have no experience, but have seen good reviews. Supports move to folder.
The Honeycomb Google email client supports 'move to folder' but does not run on Android 2.x.
still looking for a solution to this without using touchdown or k9 or whatever...

Is there i can automatically move new downloaded messages to a specific folder? or any 3rd apps available for this process.
qmail
qmail has this facility, but the manual is in Japanese...the best English manual is
http://www.azol.ru/texts/QMail3_eng_FAQ.htm
you can run it on the sd card and it has powerful macros, so that you can put new emails into folders based on age, based on text in the email, etc.
With that said, I'm still figuring out how to do this and I don't read Japanese.
*BUMP*
I'm looking for a way to do this as well. I was hoping there would just be a plugin to modify the existing email client to support this.
I have found that using the stock email app doesn't allow you to "open" or attach PDF files to emails.
I have three email accounts connected to the stock email app, Exchange, Gmail and Hotmail.
1) If I send an Excel or Word document to any of these accounts I get the option to "save" or "open" the attachment. However, if I send a PDF document to any of these accounts the only option is to the "save" the file. Then I have to go find it using a file manager before I can open it. I have tried Adobe PDF viewer & Thinkfree that comes on the device and neither will allow me to open PDFs in the email app.
2) The stock email application will not allow me to attach any files other than pictures. When I click attach it brings up the file manager (it appears to be the stock "my files" application) which allows me to view the SD card and won't show any other file types other than picture types. I have multiple PDFs on the SD card in various folders and NONE of them show up as being able to be attached to the email.
The weird part is that if I use the "Gmail" email application (the one that only allows gmail accounts) I can open PDFs straight from the Gmail application without saving first. I can also attach any file type using this application.
Does the stock email application suck this bad? My two co-workers with Dincs have no problem doing either of the above things.
I tried Touchdown, Maildroid & K9. They all attach all file types & open files directly from the email.
Does anyone elses mail app exhibit the same behavior as mine? Or did mine get messed up somehow.
The issue actually appears to be related to what program the email app will allow you to use to find attachments.
The stock mail program appears to use My Files, but it only allows you to see picture files. The Gmail program will only use "Gallery" to find attach files if you don't have a file explorer installed.
I have Astro installed and if you use the Gmail program and try to attach something it will ask you if you want to use Astro or the Gallery. I then went and uninstalled Astro and went back to attach a file through the Gmail App and it only allowed me to use the Gallery app to look for attachments.
So the problem actually DOES exist in the Gmail app, but the Gmail app will let you use other file explorers to look for attachments.
I just cant see how that got past whatever process they use in developing their app.... How can you design a mail app that doesn't allow you to attach anything but picture files.... I mean thats just ridiculous.
I would not recommend the Fascinate to be honest just because of this issue. Sure it can be worked around using other email apps and downloading file explorers. Its not that big of a deal if you only use Gmail, but if you heavily use exchange and have to rely on the mail app or a 3rd party mail app it sucks.
I ran into this just last night actually when I tried to open a pdf from an email.
So I emailed samsung to ask if this was intentional or not. They didn't give me a real good answer but here is what they said.
"Thank you for your inquiry. With the SCH-I500 mobile phone, you can only attach picture file types. If you would like to attach other files such as PDF files, you need to download an application through the android market for PDF application."
To me, that sounds like this was intentional and the stock mail app will never have the ability to attach anything other than pictures.

Out of curiosity, with all the great email apps that you mentioned having tried, why not just use one that does what you need it to do? That's one of the great things about Android: the stock apps are just there to get you started!
Maybe this is a bug due to the DB issues, but whenever I click "Read first unread" for this thread, it takes me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8315757#post8315757
On A500 email client how select all messages without select one by one ? For example delete all message...
Everybody is like me and ask for the same thing or have you make one choice with an other email client ? And Wich one ?
This is also driving me crazy, as my Android phone has the HTC SenseUI email app, which is a very different (better) experience and has a select all feature. I can tolerate not having select all for managing my daily emails, but the real problem/inconvenience comes when I remember to purge all the accumulated messages in the Trash folder. Having to select each check box one at a time for hundreds of messages is horrible. I don't know why Google doesn't have select all in the stock email or the Gmail apps.
That being said, K-9 Mail (free via the Market) has this feature and a lot more. The only drawback is that is clearly designed for smaller phone screens and not tablets, but you can configure the fonts and layout to work better on a tablet.
Hope this helps.

Nice... sure better than android email client...
I love the MIUI ROMs for my mt4g, but like AOSP ROMs, the ability to move emails between mail folders is missing. Is there a way to do this that I'm just not seeing? Or, is this just not something that is available in this ROM? I own a Touchdown license, but prefer to use the stock email client if I can. Not being able to move mails is a killer for me, though.
I have searched everywhere for this question and have seen others post it, but no one answer it.
FYI, I use Exchange ActiveSync, but I believe this is a problem for IMAP as well.
Thanks!
MIUI doesn't improve the plain Android Email client. So all the limitations are still there.
For some reason, Samsung excluded the "Tasks" app that is on the Galaxy S II. I use Outlook tasks that are synched via the Tasks app to my SGS II but I was surprised to see it missing on the GT 7.7
I tried installing it from a Titanium Backup of my GS II but no luck -- perhaps there is a way to do it via a File Manager but I would need to know exactly which files to copy and where they go.
I own a copy of Touchdown for Tablets (from my very brief time with a Xoom last year) but I like the stock Email and Calendar apps from Samsung for Exchange mail/calendar and would like the Sammy Tasks app!
Look forward to someone else figuring this out!

Could not get it set up with my Exchange Account

Personally, I prefer not to be tied down to any specific platform, so I use Remember The Milk.
They have an app for almost any platform - including Android and a plugin for Outlook called MilkSync. I think that might help in your case too
But I have to say - it's not free!
You can use it for free, but with some limitations - one of which is that the MilkSync plugin isn't available.
(I still don't have enough posts to add the external links, but it's easy to find - just search for "Remember The Milk")
^ I'm not a Google Apps kinda guy - I use Exchange for all my cloud data (email, contacts, calendar, tasks). The only thing I've left behind is notes, only because there's really no Exchange notes sync app for Android (again other than Touchdown which I would prefer not to use) so I'm using Evernote there which is fine.
