Ok so I feel like a complet dumb A$$!
I'm not a noob at these things but somehow (whilst under the influence) I managed to flash a att odim rom over top of the t-mobile vibrant! So now when it powers on it shows the att world phone splash, goes to black then loops.
I've tried just about everything I (already knew) and looked up here to get the frappin thing back into download mode, and it just keeps giving me (when the usb is plugged into the pc or battery charger) a spinny logo, followed by a grey (not green) battery icon, then black screen, then repeat.
Am I screwed?
I tried replacing the battery, doing the 3 button recovery, 3 button download, etc..
I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I'm disparate, and thought the gods of this board could help!
Open Odin and then hold the volume buttons and plug your usb cord into the phone. That should get you into download mode. Go find the .pit and .tar files for JFD and and flash them through Odin you should be safely back in your phone at that point.

Although since you flash an ATT rom into a tmobile phone your bootloader could be messed up. Im not actually sure about that at all though. Just seems possible and logical.

Yea - you may have messed the boot loader.
I would suggest buying a Jig.
A thought:
If you loaded a different brand ROM the vibrant way of entering download mode will not work anymore - maybe look up how that phone enters download and try?
Another thought -
Ive had it where I wasn't in "download mode" but Odin saw the ROM COM port. I flashed anyway (desperate) and it worked. (Id try the Jig first)
Find out how to go in download mode for att captivate..
Try those button methods because that's to only thing that'll work for you.
No jig can save you
Hey guys sorry for the late reply! Not long after I posted it I found the youtube bideo of the "jig", best $3 I've spent at radio shack!
Here are some pics..

Tried to Odin to the EB13/ext4 release http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
Odin finished successfully, reboot the phone and now nothing. Tried to boot into download mode again, nothing, popped the battery out, nothing, tried plugged in to power.
What the ****? How is it even possible to brick a phone beyond download mode?
edit: Also tried the 3-finger salute (power, volup, camera) for a while, nothing happening.

I'm not sure what's the problem, but 00:11 seconds to flash a .tar is really fast? I think that may have been your problem I'm not sure, but it's just my guess.
What's the file size of the .tar?

292MB. It must have failed to flash the tar, but then why can't I boot bac into recovery mode to try again?

Try removing the battery, holding the power button and re-inserting the battery....if you get nothing, I would have to say that you are holding a brick...sorry and good luck
If you look at that screenshot, the PDA option is not checked, which Odin does automatically when you select the .tar file.
Given the incredibly short runtime, I have a terrible suspicion you ODIN'd without a tar. I have no idea what that would do.
It also looks like he had the re-partition option checked.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
he just re-partitioned and destroyed his bootloader since nothing was flashed in its place, more than likely.
I agree with the previous 2 posts you repartitioned and had no tar to flash so it kinda seems bricked...I would take it to a sprint store and say your phone bricked while updating OTA
p.s. the 3 finger salute is VolDown/Camera/Power not volume up
Ah ****, I have no idea how that got unchecked. Oh well, I'll head to the Sprint store and say it bricked while updating from the Samsung website (before they pulled it).
Somewhat screwy that Odin let's you do something that stupid, maybe it should throw up a warning or something?
Hi everyone
I have a galaxy s with a strange problem.
When I'm turning it on, the phone will bootloop.
I tried to flash stock roms, several of them but the result is always the same.
Odin shows that everything went great, I get the PASS message but then the phone will reboot itself and get into recovery 3e mode and that's it. If I try to reboot the phone it will get into bootloops all over again.
This is the state the phone gets into after a successful odin stock rom flash.

First of all - thanks
Tried what you've said.
Now the device has a normal CWM recovery but still nothing. Bootloops.
I can't get access to the internal SD.
Maybe another idea?
Thanks.

Is there a game or something you installed recently? Anything related to Meida files? another person seem to have same problem here ('Successfully copied meida files')
Try flashing a CSC file , was my suggestion
But before that try a hard reset by
Turn off the i9000 Phone and take out the Battery and Reinsert it. Hold the Volume Down button Press and Release the Power button Select Clear Storage by Pressing the Volume Down button Press and Release the Power button Press Volume Up to confirm i9000 master reset
or http://www.hard-reset.com/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-hard-reset.html
Did you flash the file that you downloaded? The dbdata file? And you could try wiping everything before you do this to see if it helps

What for a Stock Rom you flased? And flasehd you after the Stock Rom a kernel.tar via odin?

I've probably used the LG Flash Tool 10 times the past week on both my home and work computer with no problems. Last night I flashed the KK bootloader and a stock 5.0.2 ROM (after tot'ing back to 4.4.2, rooting, etc).
It hangs at the LG logo and that's where I'm stuck. I tried going into Download Mode, but suddenly both of my computers won't see the phone and give me an error in Device Manager. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling the drivers as well. Why in the world would that happen unless somehow Download Mode was corrupted, possibly? But it goes into Download Mode fine, and appears to look right...
I've tried getting into recovery but can't. When it should load up TWRP (after telling the G2's "stock" recovery screen I do want to reset), I get the green spinning Android (not the red exclamation) for a second, then it tries to boot up.

Any advice would be appreciated as I've never run into this before.
So when the green Android popped up, I tried to hit a combination of the volume and power keys and WAS able to get into recovery. Unfortunately, it appears, somehow, TWRP was overwritten by the stock recovery. I have no idea how that could've happened. Or does stock recovery technically stay in place since this is "loki'd" and not actually unlocked? And if so, is there some way to get back to TWRP that I'm unaware of?
To add to the weirdness, when I plug it in to charge, it doesn't pull up the battery like it usually does when powered off, it just tries to boot up again...
If I could just get the computers to recognize it again...
Installing the LG PC Suite got my drivers to a point where it could recognize it while in Download Mode. MTP still didn't work, but that didn't matter for Download Mode. Not sure what happened, but at least I was able to flash it back again.
Missus's Note 3 suddenly displayed the attached screen, no way of getting out of it, can't get into recovery etc. Also, the flash always remains on.
Anyone else experience this problem? Is the phone a gunner?

Try pulling the battery. With the battery out hold the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and restart
Also could be some loose cables for the display. Take the back off the phone and check the connectors

Thanks. No connectors lose. tried the battery pull already.
Nah that doesn't look right, have you tried going to download mode and flashing a stock ROM via Odin? If you can't go into download mode or recovery then I think its better to visit Service Centre.
Remove battery it might work
Wipe data, cache and davlik cache. It worked me

He cant see a **** and cant go to Recovery Mode. Read First before u Post !
Try to Install a Stock Rom via Odin, or if u have CM Rom try to Flash a Update/Downgrade File
Thanks all. It seems the screen is now working, but doesn't respond to any touch commands. I'm going to try and reinstall stock firmware, but I think I might need to take it in and get the LCD replaced.
How did you fix it?
*Title should read CAN'T get to download or recovery*
Hi guys,
I've rooted all of my phones, got in a few scrapes, but always been able to get into recovery/download mode to rescue a phone that's having problems.
Tonight I updated my CM13 Galaxy S5 to the latest nightly (last update was a nightly in March) using the built-in method (Setting > About ... Download .. Install) which has always worked, but tonight I seem to be stuck worse than ever:
Phone stuck in loop at "installing system update" screen, it flashes briefly then reboots . Around once per second.
Need to pull battery to stop
Won't enter recovery (goes to step one)
Won't enter download (also goes to step one)
I can't get to download or recovery!

Many many thanks in advance!

Chris
You could try a usb jig (available for less than pocket change off eBay) this will force your phone directly into download mode even from a powered off state simply by plugging it into the phones usb socket.......

USB Jig did the trick...used Odin to pop TWRP on again, and that did the trick. It rebooted and came back to life, thank you!
On reflection, I think the problem came about when I started using CyanDelta. With the last CM update (the first I did with CyanDelta) it put Cyanogenmod's recovery in place over TWRP. Next time I tried to use CyanDelta it wouldn't work, so I updated via Settings > About > Update....which seemed to cause the problem.
Now, question is, do I stick with the Motorola Moto G 3rd gen I bought to get me through this week...or go back to the S5!
Glad it worked fella.....
As to which phone to use......
Now *that* is a question only you can answer.......
