Lock screen when sliding down - Xperia Play General

Hey all, I've been a long time lurker here, as my girlfriend had an android phone that I rooted (Samsung Galaxy 3 Apollo 5801)..
Now the time has come for me to get in on the Android bandwagon with a Play!
I have done much searching on the net and on this forum, but to no avail.
Is it possible, with LauncherPro, for the screen to lock when you slide the phone down?
So you slide open the gamepad, and the screen unlocks, but then you can't get portrait without closing the gamepad again. Ideally I'd want to be able to make it portrait without closing the gamepad, but when you do close gamepad, the screen locks again?

I would love to see this, it would make it more sexy ;-)

I would like to see this as well...... will i need an unlocked bootloader to use launcher pro?

no you don't need an unlocked boot loader for launcher Pro

Do you think we would need a custom Rom for this feature or just root?
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App

I would say, at my best guess, it would require the launcher to be changed. Either launcherPro, or the default sony ericsson one. Probably doubtful for both however

I'm thinking the slider is recognised as a key. Maybe it could be remapped

Anyone try using Tasker?

Keyboard

Dose any one know of a way where I could set up my phone to where I could set it to have swype when in portrait and a different keyboard when in landscape?

The easiest thing you could do is use a downloaded keyboard such as FlexT9 or SlideIt that allows you to type in Swype style or standard tapping keyboard all on the same keyboard without any menus. Just tap when you wanna tap and swype when you wanna swype. I do that on one of my phones

I know I can do that, but I really like using "hackers keyboard" in land scape and swype in portrait. Third would be especially nice if I could do that too on my xoom

Ok. What you need is the application called Tasker. Basically, it allows you to run things and change settings based on various conditions of your phone. Its an automation app.
One of the conditions you can choose to use is the orientation of your phone. So in Tasker you would set it to change tthe proper setting (keyboard) on orientation change and it will begin to do this on its own.
That's all I can think of.

Thanks man, il check it out

After about three hours of playing with tasker, which I got to admit is absolutely awesome app, it doesn't not however allow for two different keyboards to be used one in portrait and a different one in landscape

I'm sorry it won't let you do it the way you want it to. I just tried it. The only thing I could get it to do was when I turned it landscape, to open up the 'Input Method' options. But that's a pain in the ass. I really am sorry it won't do what you need. That was honestly the only thing I could think of that would do what you want without using a keyboard that does both.
Heu dont get me wrung its a great app that I'm already hooked in.and will be on my phone fire some time to come. I wounder what it would take to write and app that will do it. I have some apps I've made, but most are informational, and one interactive to control my dvr. Gauss il just have to start playing with it

Firstly, I'd look in the manual.
However if you go to your app drawer, long press on an icon, it will take you to your homescreen, from there you can drag to your dock and drop where you want.
That's assuming you don't have a custom launcher and have changed settings to single dock.
As I am quite new maybe I do not use the right tech word. Sorry. I tried to drag and drop. From the app screen, I come ti my home screen. Ok. But when I want to put on my dock (the fix bar it just above the home button)... It becomes the litter bin and nothing. Mmhhh...

Sorry, I haven't used TouchWiz launcher since i was on eclair - however, by far the best advice I can give you, would be to install launcher pro or zeam free from the market.
There are many others, but these are probably the easiest. Zeam is very basic and light, lp has more features. Get them both, find which one suits you best. You won't be disappointed.
Tks for advice. I bought adw launcher. This does not answer my question but better now. Still have to fiddle with it... Best!

You have to press the menu button while being in app drawer. then press config just as when you deinstall apps from your drawer. Now you can drag and drop whatever you want

Thank you. Will keep the tip. Btw, if I want to buy another android phone, maybe gal s2... I can move the apps or I have to buy all anew?
Have a nice day

I wonder why not all news apps or others do not allow to access to dictionaries when u need to know meaning of one word bu long tapping on it? This would be a real plus, no?

It's possible, sure. You'll need a custom designed program to do it though as it's not a feature that Android has.
That would be a neat feature but only for a few times - I'm sure I'd get sick of having to be in the right amount of light with a tablet aligned properly and waiting for my face to register. I'd change it back to my pin# right quick.
Guys I found an app which uses face recognition lock(which works!) But it only locks apps.....and you can even bypass it by a pin.....its called visidion applock.....
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
I hope we can unlock by pin... imagine you have a problem and your face is not recognized anymore... you can't unlock your tablet... hu hu

you send message to dev of application.
Ppl I found a way to make this app use the face lock after you unlock your device......go to the settings of this app.....select the* keep the unlock status* option....you can exit this app....now keep any app running in the background(make sure that the app running in background is selected in the list of apps in the facelock app by visidion).....then lock your screen....when you will unlock it you will see the face lock.....it will only appear when you have to unlock the tab.....
Have fun...

Home Button bug

I upgraded to ICS through Kies and after some time of usage the home button won't exit an app unless I press again a second rime.
At first I thought I might had not pushing it hard enough but this is not the case and it happens with every app.
I haven't installed any new apps besides the ones I've always used without this problem.
My phone is not rooted and I'm using the default touchwiz launcher. No mods of any short.
Anyone else who has come across this problem?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I have the same issue, on stock 4.0.3 rooted, using Nova launcher.
It is more apparent right after the device wakes up. It seems like it's struggling to load fast enough core OS elements/parameters or user input.
It's a joke.
They need to prioritize certain user commands, and suspending or exiting an app is way more important than weather update for example...

On screen buttons

Since this is going to be my first phone with on screen buttons which I consider a stupid idea I am wondering what can we go with this back bar embeded at the bottom of the screen, Can we make it smaller?, will it be removed in games? Can we add extra buttons or ever widgets to it? Maybe ever make it pages so when you swipe over it it will reveal a rss feed or something. Any ideas on what can be done to make it helpful rather than a hinderance

Once custom roms start rolling out you will be able to change the DPI of the bar.
AOKP i expect will support this feature as they do in current JB Roms
Why don't you like them? I think they're great.

But that's the beauty of Android. We can choose whether they're always shown or not.
