[INFO]JN101 - Eee Pad Transformer General

Just to put this out there.. JN101 is mentioned as a product model in various source files and configs.. it seems to have the new tegra2 3d (t25) proc.. Its called the Journey..
cat /system/etc/projectmap.conf reveals this.. I took a look at it before, but that was when I was browsing the 2.2 'dev' rom.. So yup..
I don't care if this thread is incorporated into some FAQ or deleted.. just some info for those who were wondering (in threads that are in this forum.. not general.. hence posting this here). General is the last place i'd look if i was wondering what the hell JN101 was.
as a bonus round.. it looks like the output for the nvram of the broadcom board is in the /system/etc/ dir.. doesn't really seem to be a conf file, but i could be wrong.. it could actually set values.. they are kind of cryptic.
pa0maxpwr=74 is the one that most people would be interested in.. its also the most self explainatory.
Journey will have a 64GB option
#define TEGRA_DEVKIT_MISC_HW_0_MMCTYPE_3 0x3UL //HYN 64G

This is actually a good thread for development, I think. I will just tag it as [INFO] in the name and leave it here...

Tools from the XDA-Developers

Hi,
from time to time all the great apps disappear in the downs of the forum. It would be nice to have all releases in one thread together - each user can now easily get to the tool he wants to get.
I want to start such a thread. Every developer who did a release can "register" his tool in this thread - also a user can do this for a developer. I will (from time to time) search this thread and copy all relevant information in this first posting.
To ease the copy to this first posting in this thread please specify the registration as follows:
category, short description, link (really a HTML link to ease copy)
categories:
Today Plugins, Scheduling, Contacts, System Utilities, Phone, Power, Benchmark, Taskmanagement, Connectivity, Snapshot (Screen), Multimedia
Maybe this threas will be sticky at a time....
Weird, last night as I went to bed I remembered all the [New release] posts (including my own) and had the exact same idea. I would definitely like to see a separate forum just for releases. It would make things a lot easier for people looking for software, and more ordered for those who publish it.
oops, little typo

Yes, this is a better idea then placing all tools into one topic. The topic would be filled with discussions and would soon become huge and useless.

Herald Forum Overhaul Needed. (Suggestion)

There's a couple things I'm noticing...
First: People post in the wrong places...
Yes I know that some people are just dumb and don't bother reading. But what's the difference between the Herald forum and the Herald Mobile 6 forum? I'm not sure I understand... Although I'm sure there's a sticky note somewhere explaining it all, but I just took a brief look and didn't find it. I think the forum should be redivided into 4 or 5 sections. Ideally it would have: Herald Tutorials, Herald ROM Development, Herald Question and Answers, and Herald Accessories... So that way it's kind of hard to miss where to post the question and answers, and where to find the exciting tutorials.
Second: A lot of these posts are out-dated.
The ROM reviews seems like it would be one of the coolest, but it's falling behind on some of the best and most recent ROMs. The CAB collection(s) hasn't been updated in a while... There's like 8 or 9 cab collections I think... I'm sure there's a better way of doing that and keeping on top of it. Perhaps we just need some more people who are willing to keep up on all of these updates and post them.
Now I understand this would probably be a ton of work to create these forums and then move the threads that are still fine, but I think it would help a lot. I'd be willing to help in the process... I'm not just here to complain and not do anything.
I've been interested in rehauling the Herald forums, but unfortunately, I'm not a mod and they're not taking mod applications at the moment...
The whole thing needs a whole overhaul.
Herald and Herald 6 are redudant. The stickies are innefficient. No one posts where they should. If I were to be a mod, I'd spend a few weeks cleaning the place up. Of course, the ROM review thread and CAB collections would have to be updated by the original owner or by someone who had the time to undergo testing all those ROMs and collecting all those cabs.
wiki?
another idea is to create a wiki. it should based upon mediawiki (used by wikipedia). there you can create create cab collections, tutorials and so on.
it would be possible to create a seperate page for every custom rom.
discussions could already be done here in the forum. in the forum could be special threads for the pages and there could a be a link from the article to the thread.
EDIT: if some is interested in doing that, i would help, of course.
There already is a wiki, look at the top of the screen. It's just that no one uses it. No one writes to it and no one reads it.
i know. don't ask my why, but i don't like this wiki, too.
it is difficult to read because of the design. it is confusing...

I agree it's a little... ugly.
But I think that aside from that, out of the few people who DO write on it, most of them don't really format the articles very well.

Yeah, but if the stylesheet is not .. well .. very good, formating the articles doesn't really help.
Yeah, these guys should really be using MediaWiki.
I can write whatever plugins are needed. I'm fairly handy when it comes to writing plugins. I ported DomPDF to MediaWiki as a means of being able to convert any Wiki article into PDF using only PHP.
i've saved a lot of informations i gained form the forum and the wiki in my personal wiki at home (separate wiki only for herald ). when i'm back at home, i will publish these informations in a new wiki and post it here. propably, we can show how comfortable mediawiki and the design is and then propably the admins will use mediawiki

That is brilliant. Can't believe I did not post it first, it is a peeve of mine, big time.
I would like to see this as well.
I support this!
It was like that at first, but I think they did this so that people wouldnt start flashing things on their phones without knowing which one it's for.
I wouldnt mind a general "Galaxy S General" forum though.
yes, this would be a definite plus. and give us an off topic section for us sgs users as well.
+1 .....10 char
^bump^
as i don't have any Mod power to make it a sticky, much less make the original topic cross posted across the 5 SGS forums
115 Yes
7 No
Wow...
I didn't at first, but I found my self looking at the other forums today because its really obvious that there is tons of cross over. Of course I'd agree that development should be seperate, but cases and other things should totally be combined.
I just hope my sticky stays a sticky

It wasn't exactly like that at first I think..more precisely only the i9000 forum existed as it was the only device out at the time..
Right now we got almost the devices out the door and most of the stuff are compatible..if not minor tweaks make it compatible...
But yes thats exactly what the proposal will do..it will separate out the development with some room for cross development and keep the other categories like general the same
As long as the development sections are separate I think this its a good idea..
Especially if we have enough mods to watch over us...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
and also take out the Galaxy Spica subsection which no one seems to use.
I do like the idea though the only thing I'm worried about is people getting confused in the development section. And I'm assuming since the software is basically the same for all the phones then themes would work across all phones.
yeah that might be an issue. if we do merge, I think it's best if people start id'ing their thread with something like
[CAPT] dadada
[VIBR] dadada
[EPIC] dadada
Let me clear things up a bit....the Development thread will have sub-forums for each device...so anything that is unique or only for 1 device will be in the sub-forum...things that work on all devices or multiple devices will go into the main Development forum where we will tag it something like this "[V][C][F]" which would mean works for Vibrant, Captivate, Fascinate only.
I agree, checking all the other SGS forums is a litle annoying.

I was under the impression that the Vibrant and Captivate don't use the same cases (Captivate has lines vs curves), so already there is an instance where this idea falls apart.
Theres going to be a SGS with a keyboard soon, that case won't be compatible with cases for the other phones.
So....we could mix the Vibrant and i9000 forums because they're basically the same form factor, but why bother.
There is enough different about all these phones that it's probably better keeping them separated.
-----
EDIT:
With that said, when there is an issue with one phone, it does seem to carry over to the others and it is freaking annoying having to delve the forums of the other phones to find a solution.
Unfortunately, what is the "better" solution? Either one is going to be somewhat confusing for somebody.
Bump.
To the people that still doesn't know about this idea, please go vote if you would like to see the big Galaxy S family forum merged.
Thanks.

[Project] ---> THE Guide <---

hi everyone,
I made this thread to prepare for starting a new thread in the xperia x10 Forum, the thread will be called "THE Guide"
In Case you are wondering why i made a Project thread about it, that is the way i want that thread to be it can't be done by one member, So i need your help
WHY ?
i am tired of new threads people make about very old problem that were solved millions of times, every forum have one of these thread and we shall make this one the best one.
IDEA
it will include everything we can imagine,
My view is like this:
- 1st Post will be the Index, it will contain links to the different parts of the guide
- the next for example 2 pages, each post will be about a different topic, example:
--> Root Post will contain links to differnet rooting methods, FAQ, known issues, etc
--> ROM post, will contain links to ROMS - if any -, Dev in Progress, etc
i hope you get the idea..
WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO:
- this thread will be always fresh and updated, and i can't make that alone, my time won't allow me to manage more than the index post and at most one other topic
- Anyone willing to join this epic Guide, write in this thread and tell me what topic you want to handle
- Any ideas about the topics are always welcome.
- you should have a decent amount of posts, etc.. ( i can't allow someone with 1 post to take part in this, sorry )
Posiible Topics that i came of till now:
- Branding/Debranding
- Rooting
- Market issues
- Battery problem
- themes, and related Howto's
- Dev tools, and related progress ( i think someone should arrange that for new Devs coming to help )
( those what came in my mind in just 2 mins )
BEWARE: THIS IS NOT THE GUIDE THREAD, AS SOON AS THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE AND WE ARRANGE WHO WILL DO WHAT, I WILL CREATE THE THREAD.
so for now lets here what you guys think about it.

Hey OP, just wanted to know, can we post news articles over here as well? If so, I'm a pretty keen observer of all the x10 news(a la Google alerts ) so I wouldn't mind handling that. Let me know
Edit: I just remembered there's already a section for that in this forum... linked in the post above mine. maybe we should ask the mods before we do anything

i will, to make it more organized i'll list everyone who apply here and will pm all at once when we are enough
Ahww ok, sorry bro
Good Idea. I just read PiLOT's post and I really do think we need to help people out that are as clueless as I was when I got my X10
I'll volunteer myself for getting the theme related stuff together. If nobody has already I'll get a list of the most important threads/how tos together.
Should I just post a list here and keep updating it?

No, not in this thread, this thread is for getting people and arranging things.
We need at least 10 people to manage this guide.

Yeah, I just meant sort of like a rough draft here...
Anyway, PM me if you want me to get going on this
good idea, i like it a lot, i keep up to date with all x10 news, so il join you

Dev threads naming conventions/date stamp at front.

Firstly I would just like to say that I am eternally grateful to the devs for choosing to share their work here and I have no complaints (other then one) and I think the work the do is amazing, without them we would be stuck on carrier firmware and out of date software/features so much respect!
My issue is and personally think this is long overdue is that we REALLY need a global (or in least the GS2 section) XDA naming convention/rule or forum addon for adding rom threads so that all rom topic titles are consistent and uniformed.
I probably say this and think about it more because my 2 previous daily devices were the immortal (and best ever smartphone) HTC HD2 and the Galaxy Tab (P1000) and in these forums all dev topics were pretty uniform and all rom/kernel topics has date stamp at front of title so that people browsing section could easily see at a glance if there had been any updates to their roms or in general for people like me who have ORD.
Other sections though like S2 seem to be completely random and its more of a pain to look through roms and the "at a glance" checking of rom updates is completely non-existent.
IMO we really need a rule set of posting topics in dev section as far as rom/kernel releases goes, for example..
[DATE][ROM/KERNEL] Rom Title [Version][Extra Info]
Obviously thats just a quick example but really think the first 2 sections (ie date/type] should be mandatory at front so that all dates/types are in line. Anywhere else and they all just go completely random.
Agree/Disagree , why, thoughts?
:good:
Thoughts? Sure, site-wide rule suggestions don't belong in device sub-forums.

Well it was in the least just for our forum since mods can create per section rules, however the rule could be made global ideally.
